I did a rebuild of one of these 2 years ago. Great usable blade once a full tang is built onto them. Very Nice work here💯👍👍
Thanks!
Ricky that is now the sharpest knife I have ever seen!!!
Thanks Billy!
now it looks so awesome
Always a great job! Beautiful knife! Hope you are feeling better!! Have a good one!!
Thanks Mike! Much better!
I like it a lot better with the stag handle. Made this knife look really good. Great job Mr. Wallace. Have a Blessed Day Friend! Justin
Great job !
I like it! It's the handle it always should've had!
Neat knife, awesome handle!
One mighty knife
Looks nice with the modification to the handle . Thanks for sharing take care
Thanks Tony!
Nice handle! I like it👍👍
Very interesting, great video
Beautiful handle
This might be my ignorant perspective from not knowing but I think they used a cable to absorb the shock through the handle🤷🏼♂️
Supposedly the cable tang lessons the handle shock when someone is chopping with the knife, making it more comfortable to use. Whether it works or not is another matter.
Nice handle!
You sure got some skills there, beautiful job
I would love to have it full tang 2.
Mrswimmingbear@gmail.com I can do it, Lets talk about it. Ill be on Saturday. Thanks!
I believe this knife is intended for a fighting knife not chopping. That being said is it necessary to do all that? To each their own. Handle looks great though
Good work, looks GREAT- except for the exposed metal of the tang on the upper left(?) side of the grip.. too bad about that! I'm wondering how that could have been covered up.. Otherwise a nice looking grip which should last a long time under any normal use... 🤠. Lynne supposedly said that the cables were also to affect the balance of these factory-made premium fighting knives. I've been pondering how I might refit my own cable tangs, a Natch and a Laredo.. I just don't trust those dang epoxied cables.
Much better
Respect for you..what a beautyful work..
Shame that companies ask so much money for a crappy cable tang knife..
Moi aussi trop déçu et révolté que COLD STEEL ait pus faire produire une tel merde de (soie -câble)!! surtout pour le prix !!
Its to absorb shock. It would be Cheaper and simpler both to just have a threaded solid tang.
You're paying for the steel and workmanship- ain't nothing "crappy" about those knives. That said, the "New Cold Steel" just doesnt produce the quality they did since Lynne sold the place!
Roll Tide Roll❤️
Damned beautiful woek
Thanks for watching!
How is it actually attached to the stub tang? You have at least one pin going through?
Really nice knife conversion , Mr. Rick . Most knife reviews are so predictable they are totally boring . They just gotta do the caveman test and beat a nice knife with a big stick . Thanks for all you do . Best regards to you and yours .
Why don’t you use a carbon steel instead of aluminum to extend the tang?
Right? I'm not sure id trust that aluminum tang any more than I would've trusted the cable.
What did you end up doing with that crown slab set that didn’t work in the first attempt?
Its in the scrap box, I think
@@wallaceknifeworkshomestead I’ll email you
I was hoping that when GSM bought out CS that the new owner would do away with this ridiculous cable tang and go to a full tang.
Très bonne réflexion !!
RANDALL will tell you don't beat on your knife !
Thats right!
Randall knives?
That’s a very nice conversion sir but in my honest opinion if you have a thick enough knife batoning a knife shouldn’t hurt the edge a least bit I believe those cold steels are 5/16 thick that’s plenty thicc for small trees brands and processing kindling and cutting through logs I believe the idea of batoning is if you’re in a pinch and you have no other option
Natchez rhymes with Matches !
I understand the concept here..But a tang should not be thick as the spine of the blade! I love a good tapered tang! Just my opinion.
I was wondering how you can make a knife a full tang without it being built like that. Cool stuff Mr Ricky! You the man! 💪 Pretty knife! Ain't a Wallace Knife tho!😅 👊🤛💪
Did you get your knife set yet Josh?
@@Stump44 heck no! I think he's holding out on me😅 nah he sent them and they got here yesterday. There sweet!
Thanks Josh!

I mean, the knife is not full tang, its a type of a hidden tang construction. A false full tang, you might say
Nice job.
My first question is,
Why didn't you try a distal taper on the steel handle? That and drilling it out to skeletonize it seems to me would have massively reduced the weight without having to compromise the tang material?
Just wondering..
Otherwise, good job.
Major improvement over the original goofy thing from the factory.
Personally, I'd have just ordered that style knife from you in the first place. Cheaper you said!
Nice buddy 👍🏻
👍
👍👍👍☕👀✔️
Hey Jim!
No offense but I guess its built well if you can’t get the handle off without destroying it. Cold steel said they use a cable to minimize vibration
For a knife costing about $400 you would think Cold Steel could have made a FULL TANG
So, i dont understand why you did not show howbitbwas made, what is going on in the handle? I presume you made a C type false full tang to fit around the stub tang. But you cant call this “full tang” it is still a hidden tang, and a stub tang at that
Sweet! I love those type knives. The Confederate blades made during the civil war are rare masterpieces. They were made for one purpose. Not quite a sword but bigger than a average knife.
Nice job i have a 3v natchez bowie an i would love the handle full tang an done just like this one in the vid it has g10 handle
Hello
I want to buy this knife for $200. I am waiting for a response.
I'm from Poland
Regards
Henry
Those knives were made to hang on a wall and that’s about it. Clearly the cable used in the original version is a cost reducing measure.
I never got the whole batoning thing, just buy a hatchet 🪓
Thank you!
It's the abilitie to do more with less equipment
A hatchet can't do what a bowie can, but a bowie can do what a hatchet can
@@robbietilton6254 Buhbuhbut.. hatchets don't usually have a cable handle...😜
You used aluminum for the full tang??
Yes
