    Those of you that are watching this and wondering if this is actually good work? I am 100 percent letting you know this is professional old time craftmanship at its finest, Mr Wallace is an expert at his knife making best. Being the owner of these knives I can tell you he converted these knives into works of art and will be heirlooms I hand down. Excellent work I cannot recommend his work enough. Rangers Lead The Way. Juan

      I was commenting on the cable tang of the original design. It seems completely illogical to me. I get it that they did it for a reason, I get it that it’s probably a complex process, but give me a full tang knife all day.

    This is right from Cold Steel on BF.
    "The cable tang in our Laredo and Natchez Bowie knives is used primarily as a shock distributor. The cable acts almost like a guitar string and sends shock out the end of the pommel, rather than into the handle and subsequintly the hand. This promotes longer life in the handle, and makes it less likely that the user will take shock directly into his hand, allowing him to maintain a more secure grip. Since these are primarily designed as fighting bowies, a secure grip is extrelemy important. If you have watched Lynn's video on using the bowie's handguard for defense, then you can see how much shock this knife may take in a combat situation.
    It also makes the knife a little blade heavy, which moves the "sweet spot" of the knife further fvorward and gives it greater impact.
    Manufacturing the knife with the cable tang is a more expensive process than simply making the knife with a full tang, so this is done with intent and design. It is definately not a cost-saving effort. We have never seen a cable tang break under normal usage."

    The cold steel black bear Bowie machete can be purchased for under 30 bucks. Their machete line is almost indestructible and is arguably one of the best bangs for the buck out there. Thanks to joex for his destruction tests.

    Great Job. But to be honest, I have always heard how bad the cable tang was. But I have yet to see a video showing a failure with it. I have seen failure in some of the other Cold Steel full tang knives being broken. And I have seen videos of the Laredo and Natchez being broken in other places. Just not the tang. This is by no means trying to take away from your excellent craftsmanship. You have done an outstanding job. Just giving a fair honest opinion on the cable tang.

      Yes, this is a hidden tang, in the false full tang style, common in knifes made in pakistan. This type of tang can be sufficient if it is not to skinny etc.

    Can anyone explain why the original handle on these knives are made the way that they are? Is the blade steel pretty good, hard, all things considered?

    • @TaqiyyaorMudarat
      @TaqiyyaorMudarat 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      They do, they make them for fighting and the cable tang is actually more expensive to manufacture than a full tang.
      Look it up, don't get fooled!

    • @tango-bravo

    • @TaqiyyaorMudarat
      @TaqiyyaorMudarat 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @tango-bravo well it has to be.
      If it's more complicated it MUST be more expensive. This is an undeniable fact. It's not even up for debate. What's the likelihood a knife manufacturer build a knife unnecessarily expensive? That doesn't make any sense! Right?
      The only problem is, people like you refuse to accept the fact that the knife is made for FIGHTING.
      NOT batoning.
      It's very simple.
      But if somebody wants to baton with it, and want to rebuild it?
      Sure!
      Fantastic.
      Just don't say the knife is lacking in design and from manufacturing.
      That's all I'm saying.
