      @@Leverguns50 very nice. I personally do not own any take down models either new production or originals. I always seemed to perfer the solid frame versions for some reason. You’ve got quite a nice collection though. I have many of the same calibers as you shoot and hoping to be adding the 50-110 next year with a custom build somewhat like how you had yours built. But will be using the deluxe 1886 as the donor. Hoping things happen in the new year.

      If you need any help finding the barrel or anything let me know, I need to order your reloading dies as soon as possible because they’re on back order right now, of course there are some other custom die builders that might be able to get it a little quicker

      @@Leverguns50 Thank you very much thankfully I ordered dies from CH4D early this year. Probably got the last set as I heard they were out and will be about 2 years before making anymore. I stocked up on brass and Barnes bullets also.
      I’ll be ordering a barrel from Winchester barrels when the time comes. I spoke with the owner also earlier this year. I think that’s where you got your barrel from I believe you mentioned in an earlier video? I have my gunsmith willing to do the work also. I’d like to go with a 26” barrel but will need to find a 26” mag tube seeing this deluxe model comes with a 24” barrel.
      I must thank you because without your videos and info I would have never thought to have one built and to afford an original is very pricey and also still not as strong as the modern rifles. So this build is all thanks to you sir.
      I’m in Canada so things arnt as easy to find as it is in the US but I think I’ve got a good start and should have it built sooner then later.

      A friend has a 33WCF in an 1886. No problem hitting a gallon milk jug at 300 yards. The only drawback is that none of the bullets for reloading are flat nosed. He sets up a jig and cuts the tips off of his.

    WoW!! Very, very nice! I really like that stripe in the wood grain on the left side. It almost looks like a crack, but it's not. I love the water at the end. It fascinates me how it's liquid, yet seemingly endless. The same, but always a little different the way it splashes......it's very calming somehow. You can watch the same spot for hours, but that water will never be back again once it flows past that spot......kind of like life itself, or time, when you think about it........maybe I'm crazy.......never mind.....

    • @Leverguns50
      @Leverguns50  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve thought the same thing before, sometimes when I look at clouds and wonder if that’s the same water I saw going down the creek last year 10 years ago, and then when you watch the water running down the creek you think about all those people say you’re wasting water I suppose they would try to damn up the creek and stop the water from flowing somewhere, how can you waste water it’s like a never ending cycle

    How does the crescent rifle buttplate feel when you shoot it? I've held several Winchesters with it and the bottom always seems to poke my shoulder. I always figured when/if I ever buy one (I'm going to buy one the "if" is more if ammogeddion ever ends and I can find one) I'd try to get the Carbine model.

    Do you feel like the takedown rifle is as strong as a rifle that doesn't come apart?
    I ask because I'm considering a winchester takedown but I plan on using max loads from time to time. I'm worried a takedown might not be able to handle heavy loads.

    • @Leverguns50
      @Leverguns50  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      All things considered. I think the takedown is strong enough, but I would think that the standard rifle would be a little bit stronger. But doesn’t matter I doubt it.

  • @JDWard-Jeepster
    @JDWard-Jeepster 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What kind of effect on accuracy does the takedown have? In the origanals the takedown models were very slightly less accurate due to the threads loosening up after repeated disassembly. I would imagine this loosening happened very slowly over years and years of use. I agree with you about the 1886 and it's updated brother the model 71 being the best models Winchester ever made, next would be the 1895 which was way ahead of it's time in many ways. What killed the 1895 was the fact you could chamber a WWI unmarked 8X57 in a rifle chambered for either .30-03 or .30-06. This would be disasterous on pulling the trigger. To this day American Factory loads for the 8x57 are held to the lame 37,000 cup in case you do this. The other problem with the 8x57 is it started out as a .318 bore diameter round nose and went to .323 with the introduction of the Spitzer style bullet. I have never tried to close the lever on a modern .323 spitzer 8x57 but I have closed the lever no problem on a .318 8x57 in a origanal .30-03 model 1895 so this problem was very real.

    • @Leverguns50
      @Leverguns50  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As with anything you have to maintain it, and there is a way to adjust it if the threads get loose, to tighten it back up,

    • @JDWard-Jeepster
      @JDWard-Jeepster 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Leverguns50 sounds like they were thinking about the loosening problem. Winchester had already figured that out in the model 12 so it makes sense they would use a similar system on all their newer built takedowns. ☺
