Everything in that region needs a revamp. But at this point, I fully believe they are going to be so cheap that they are straight up gonna port the game from 3ds to Switch.
In the 8th gym battle, Wulfric uses a Mega Abomasnow ☝️🤓 Edit: my bad, that was an anime scene. You are correct on your initial statement and my nerd comment is incorrect (I’ll leave it instead of deleting so people won’t make the same mistake as I did)
And it also feels like they made it in a way, where they had some intended megas as well. Like I see no other reason Beedrill got a mega in ORAS other than for Viola possibly using it in a rematch or even her original fight at lvl 10 (either that or Vivillon or Masquerain, easily could have gotten their own forms) in XZ & YZ. Grant already could use Aerodactyl. Korrina has Lucario (but Lopunny could be an option outside the tower). Ramos could sport Venusaur (if they wouldn't add Victreebel, as our rival has Absol instead). Ampharos for Clemont (their father in anime had one). Audino for Valerie (if Mawile was too much), Medicham for Olympia (Slowbro felt too stupid of a design for her tbh). And Wulfric used mega Aboma in the anime. Then we could have Houndoom, Garchomp (Charizard X?), Scizor and Blastoise for the Elite 4.
This is exactly what Mikey ranted about in a video a while back. And I completely agree. At bare minimum, Wulfric and the Elite Four should have had Megas.
@@OKreationsYou also broke your own rule on Ludicolo about only 1 Hidden Ability per gym, since Own Tempo is Ludicolo's Hidden Ability. It's two normal abilities are Rain Dish and Swift Swim.
I think that just about every major Kalos trainer could have their team revamped, not just the gym leaders. The elite 4, Diantha, Lysandre, and Calem/Serena could use a glowup too.
Absolutely. An elite 4 that only uses 4 pokemon per team (and no mega evoltuion) is far too easy to defeat. Especially when the player has had access to mega evolution since the halfway point of the game.
@@zyggybaranowski6852Agreed! Unova got away with it because its Elite Four are freakishly hard, this game doesn't *have* that luxury. And keep in mind Alola and Paldea (and Galar if you count its pre-Rose gauntlet as an elite 4) went back to 5 each, so... yeah
@@glitchwarrior7270 Unova also had the excuse of having a limited dex, to the point that Shauntal would have to double up on at least one pokemon due to the general lack of Unovan ghost types. Kalos had 457 pokemon in total and each of the elite four had 2 Kalosian pokemon, so they REALLY did not have an excuse.
I love this. Most people rework gym leaders by making them insanely broken. It’s really nice to see someone up the difficulty on the gym leaders while keeping it fair
@@KhoiNguyen-zp2bq do you mean nobody plays Nuzlockes? If so, you're very wrong. If you mean other people don't redesign the gyms with Nuzlockes in mind, that's also false as I've seen videos from other creators factoring in the level cap (though I don't remember exactly the videos in question).
You also gotta take in mind it's an Ubers tier mon being piloted by the ai, and without max EVs so huge power doesn't even do that much. Realistically that thing is gonna use iron defense like twice in a row and die to like a Gabite using dig lol
i know you said that wulfric leading with mega abomasnow would be weird but i actually think it'd be a really good way to make him more climactic after the team flare finale like leading with his strongest to show that he means BUSINESS
Clemont being the quiz master and having a Rotom on his team could be used as well. For example the player could answers a quiz while going through the gym and its form could change based on the answers the player gives.
Imagine the question asked is a meta one and Rotom's form is whatever is super effective against your answer. In universe Clemont is getting clues to your team and is putting rotom in the right appliance to counter. Question: If you're fighting a strong pokemon, what would you do? 5 options: Paralyze with stun spore = Rotom heat Confuse with Water Pulse = Rotom Base Burn with will-o-wisp = Rotom Wash Dodge with Sand Attack = Rotom fridge Use raw power like Close Combat = Rotom fan
Something interesting to Clemont, Valerie, Olympia and Wulfric is that their character's models are 3 tiles wide. This is due to Clemont's mechanical hands, Valerie's long sleeves, Olympia's wide cape, and Wulfric's big coat going over adjacent tiles. Just for this fact, I think Clemont should have a Mega :D To be honest, I see Clemont more with a Mega-Ampharos, the _"Light Pokémon"._ It resonates more with Lumiose City _"The City of Light",_ previously suffering from a power outage. Whe are also introduced with the lighting of the Prismatic Tower as his Gym, making Ampharos extremely thematic. Side note: I find it funny to add Grassy Terrain and Misty Terrain to Ramos and Valerie, yet removing Electric Terrain from Clemont's team!
@@Shalakor I don't understand: they are 4 other Dragon-type Mega-Pokémon. Well, 2 if we discard the legendaries implemented-but-not-released Mega-Latias/Latios (yes: they are in XY's data for some reasons, like Eternal Floette). Remain Mega-Charizard X and Mega-Garchomp. But then, why are they out of the picture? What am I missing? What reasons prevent them to not pick them instead of Ampharos?
@@ClemehlThat's actually a really good point. I get mega Charizard, to a degree, but but there's no good reason to exclude mega Garchomp, yet no one considers it. And unlike Ampharos and Charizard, it's dragon-type before mega evolution (not that that matters, since they mega-evolve the moment the pokemon hits the field)
In context for the dragon mega problem, it's probably because they didn't want an 'important' character to have the upgraded version of a champion's ace (Cynthia with Garchomp) or a mega you have access to early on (either Charizard mega since you can get the starter for 'free') When it comes to revamps tho, I think it should be allowed to add in future pokemon to the teams, especially when it comes to megas since they were only in 2 games
Honestly for Clemont I think Galvantula would work better than Manetric. Its part bug type so its neutral to ground, and im like 90% sure joltik can be found and evolved before the gym. Plus galvantula has somewhat better coverage with energy ball as opposed to flamethrower
I think my least favorite thing about X and Y is how none of the new Pokémon for those games got a Mega Evolution. Mega Pangoro or Mega Tyrantrum or even Mega Gogoat could have been epic. Make Korrina the 4th Gym Leader and make Ramos (Grass Guy) the 3rd. After Korrina’s battle, each Gym Leader will use a Mega Evolved 6th Gen Pokémon Clemont - Mega Helioptile Valerie (Fairy) - Mega Sylveon Olympia - Mega Malamar Wulfric - Mega Avalugg The Elite Four will do the same.
I can definitely understand why they wouldn't have wanted to give Sylveon a Mega, if only for the sake of avoiding giving all the Eeveelutions Megas (even if I and most of the fanbase would totally be on board for that, of course). Like, discounting that, plenty of people have also thought of having all 8 or 9 forms of Eevee sharing a single model when being Mega evolved if that was the problem, though. For instance, laziest option would be that it could just give a 625 BST by having a flat +20 to all non-HP stats and change the Ability to Adaptability while keeping the typing of whichever Eeveelution was Mega Evolved (could even include normal Eevee in the mix, just giving it +60 in each stat). Probably a missed opportunity, as Eevee and its evolutions have only increased in notoriety as the secondary mascots of the franchise to Pikachu. I fear the shear volume of fan content around applying Mega to the Eevee line by this point may have GameFreak painted into a corner as far as trying to do something that doesn't already exist now. Our own desire to see it done may prevent it from happening, even with a new opportunity for it in the upcoming AZ Legends game.
@@Shalakor My first thought was exactly "Yes, OP is right except for Sylveon, because then all theу Eeveelutions would have to get a Mega", but upon reading your comment I really like the idea of the sharing one Mega-Eevee form! It might even be normal type, but with kinda insane stats and ability... Alternatively, I would have loved the idea of adding one type to each Eeveelution. There is a video out there that showcases some ideas for that. And since there are 18 types and 8 eons + 1 Eevee... :D
I like most of the changes made! Much better difficulty wise. My only worry is Viola with more infestation, and the addition of poison powder on Vivillon. Getting locked in with early game mons by Infestation can be lethal.
In a casual playthrough, you can retry. In a Nuzlock, not an unreasonable ask to do a new run from an early loss. If Infestation is going to be the Gym TM, its impact should be felt. Maybe the poison could be overkill, though.
My thought on it is a different take on early boss design. Instead of the typical first boss design where the boss doesn't have much attack to give you a chance to screw up, this one forces you to match it on a DPS basis since Bug is a frail type, putting you on a fixed clock to doom is a good alternative to the typical "HP sponge" most first bosses make you deal with.
@@Redpoppy80 I don't necessarily disagree, I think Viola actually is one of the more interesting first gym leaders in the series because of precisely what you say here. I think what really was getting me was the Poison Powder in addition to Infestation on Vivillon as Shalakor said. Infestation is indeed the theme but I think the double up just takes it over from being tough but fair to unbalanced.
Mega for every gym leader after the fighting gym to really give a challenge Speaking of megas. Bring back those pokemon as side evos in a future gen so it's not wasted. For some that don't change types just give the stats or abilities like for Beedrill
I would take Olympia and Wulfric one step further. Give Sigilyph Light Clay for the screens to last longer, and give the Icy Rock (Hail extender) to Cryogonal. The items might not come into play too often, but the last gym leaders should have multiple items, in my opinion.
OH MY GOD. THANK YOU. 😭😭😭😭 i've seen multiple other people do "re-work" videos for x and y and they don't ever bother giving surskit a move that would let it make use of its ability. since both of the ones it has (standard and hidden) both require rain to be active in order to actually use them at all.
I have an OC named Octavian, who's meant to be a cousin to Sycamore and uses Saruhiko Fushimi as his appearance, that I made in response to my irritation over how dirty Kalos was done. He's a Dark-type ex-Champion that wanted Kalos to rival Galar, and one day wanted to challenge Leon, and prove dominance. His dream crumbled when Diantha ousted him, and because she's an actress, she didn't dedicate as much time to honing the League and making sure they were strong. The decline in the League's strength is a HUGE source of ire for him. So, I'd like to thank you for this video and doing Kalos justice. I'm sure Octavian would love it too. :)
Wow. I wanted to shoutout your taste in Pokemon for each trainer, I love how your teams almost feel like ones that could be in the anime, I can totally imagine these trainers using niche Pokemon they became close with like Relicanth. Amazing video, please do every generation even if they may not need fixing
Also for Violas Vivillon i think powder wouldve been a cool tech option. Its a priority bug move that will damage the enemy if they had used a fire move on that turn AND prevent the fire move from going off
Might be a little controversial; but i think Viola and Grant are actually fine. Grant in fact is a bit of a spike; I normally have to grind before him because I reach him a good 5 levels under him... because xp share off. I guess that's why he's changed so little. Like; giving Gym 1 3 pokemon; weather strats; movesets only legal via breeding [It's the only way Nincada would know those moves; inherited] and a 50BP STAB that lowers stats on a fully evolved pokemon with *Base 90 Sp.Atk* might be a bit too much; and is definitely more than a "minor" increase. Things get easy from Korrina onwards [who is weaker than a random battle girl in Reflection Cave, she seriously has a worse Hawlucha moveset] Also Hawlucha gets walled by ghosts as soon as it uses fling again.
21:08 'Mawile will pose an interesting threat' This mon wasn't banned to Ubers for shits and giggles. Mega Mawile hits harder than Mega Mewtwo X and I don't think you should have to deal with that in the 6th gym. The same holds true for Mega Medicham, though it was allowed in OU.
Hard agree. Also the fact that theres still another mon sitting behind both of these busted megas that you'll have to deal with using your likely currently-on-deaths-door team, makes these 2 fights in particular way too hard for gyms 6 & 7. Also both will likely be under the effects of screens due to their lead mons. Disgusting.
@@PixieDiamondDew Level 40 no IV or EV Mega Mewtwo X has 157 attack while a Level 40 no IV or EV Mega Mawile has 89 attack which is doubled by Huge Power to 178 attack. I do not want to face an MMX behind screens with better typing in the 6th gym.
@@ichmagbratwurst4999 Taunt for the screen setters, bring fire and ground attacks for Mawile. The only thing I would change is Sucker punch, priority is too much to handle, but with a bit of strategy you can win. The problem of most Pokémon players is that they only play using attack moves
@@ichmagbratwurst4999 Taunt the screen setter, defog the screens, use your own screens, burn the mawile, steel types walls her, intimidade or use any move to lower her attack stat; just use some strategy besides attacking. Even if Ground and Fire are the only Mawile weaknesses, they are great offensive types (When it comes to weakness, being pure fairy is way better than being fairy/steel, poison and steel are way less threatening types). The only thing I would change is removing sucker punch, without priority you can exploit Mawile low speed. 50/95 special bulk without investment is pretty frail, depending on the Pokémon, a stab flamethrower or earth power OHKO
i think some teams don’t make sense based on the characters and their personalities but that’s coming from someone who watched the anime. korrina’s 2d sprite was nightmare fuel 😭
interesting ideas overall! let's see: -Viola: adding a Nincada comes with the huge advantage of not making the gym passible of being wiped to the ground by Rollout (which Chespin gets at this point)! I think I'd switch back from Rain Dance to Water Sport though, it's fine if not every Pokémon's ability is useful, especially so in the first gym battle. -Grant: this is a pretty tough fight as-is despite only having 2 Pokémon, so some care needs to be taken not pushing it overboard. I worry that Relicanth might be surprisingly a bit much with that considered, being a fully-evolved Pokémon. the Take Down is definitely pushing it; it's, again, fine if not every Pokémon's ability is useful (the Amaura does know Take Down as well, but is firing that off almost half as much Attack). -Korrina: Power-Up Punch Baton Pass with Regenerator into priority is a bit much, fun concept as it is; that Mienfoo needs to be a lot weaker. otherwise really like the changes; the Rocky Helmet is a bit uncoventional, but Korrina is herself wearing a helmet, so that makes it fun and thematic! -Ramos: looking a fair bit more formidable! centering the strat on Grassy Terrain is a great concept. I think it's safe to add a fourth Pokémon already here if it's nothing too strong, though, so I think I'd keep the Weepinbell -Clemont: now that you mention it, Rotom not being on the team is almost conspicuous, between the rotom-dex and the fact that it'd give him something to throw against the route full of Ground-types that precedes his gym. anyway, I wonder if rain-thunder is a bit much for this stage in the game still, but the synergy with Dry Skin is great. -Valerie: so this is a good point to start adding megas, and Valerie does have a Mawile already. that, however, BST notwithstanding, is one of THE strongest megas, second arguably only to Kangaskhan and some legendaries. it needs a much weaker moveset at the very least. -Olympia: I think it's safe to have a held item somewhere besides the mega stone by now, iirc there's a fair gap of adventure between Valerie and here. this is otherwise pretty good, and there really wasn't much to change to begin with besides the low team count; Olympia could beat Wulfric any day I think. oh, and I'd actually keep the Power Gem on that Slowking; seems more fun that way, and it's not really gaining thaaat much more with Surf -Wuflric: Shell Smash Skill Link Icicle Spear goes a touch too hard for a throwaway lead, but I do like the idea of having a Spikes Cloyster up front; stack with the subsequent Hail and you've got a beautiful nightmare of gradual damage for this gym's theme. it also has the benefit of catching anyone who thought they'd just be stomping this with a Fire-type - not to mention that putting Hail in the back pocket has the added benefit of foiling a certain mega Fire-type's own weather-setting ability. it's a much better team overall (low bar I know), with some really interesting synergies playing here and there - Confuse Ray to extend the hail pain, and if you just switch out of it you get the Spikes; Weavile can come in to sweep all over a thoroughly gradually-damaged team; so on and so forth.
He said 22:19 “I think mega mawile will do a great job of introducing gym battles with mega evolutions with its slow bst”. Meanwhile im having war flashback of the thing
I think overall you nailed it! The only miss in my eyes is mega mawile, that pokemon is in the same tier as xerneas. You created the hardest gym battle any mainline game has ever had. It could have just bite and nothing else and still be way too strong
Spoke too soon, shell smash cloyster is another emerald kaizo tier difficulty choice, shell smash cloyster is ANOTHER uber mon (admittedly uber in gen 5 but still.)
@@patricklynch4074 At least it didn't get a White Herb. Kinda fits the Leader's concept that he could be the hardest or the easiest Gym depending on how you can handle him.
mega mawile isn't that overbearing. just because a mon is ubers competitively doesn't mean it's that strong in the hands of the ai because they have no evs and are stupid (plus this one lacks swords dance).
i’ve been waiting for this. the generation that introduces mega evolution but no gym leader mega evolves. but korrina does but it’s not in the gym battle. i am also disappointed that they didn’t give wulfric mega abomasnow like how they did in the anime.
Thanks so much I appreciate it! I think I might’ve gone a little too strong/difficult with my picks, but oh well! Check out RoryTheFiend’s video on it too!
@@OKreations I think the difficulty can work. It reminds me of playing B&W as a child, but XY's exp share makes it easier to grind/power through challenges if it's too much
Really cool video! Just bugged out a bit by the change on Olympia's Slowking, you put Own Tempo instead of Oblivious. Being immune to confusion is alright, but Oblivious would be way more useful, preventing taunt (which is a dark type move on top of that) to block Slowking's calm mind and yawn.
Giving a Mega Mawile to a 6th gym leader is insane.....unless you are thinking of a rom hack like radical red. It has arguably the best type combination in Pokemon that is Fairy and Steel....but what really pushes it over the edge is its ability which is Huge Power...which doubles its attack stat. This mon was even banned in Gen 6 OU and even now is OU in Gen 9 National Dex. I think a Pokemon like Mega Audino does a better job.
@@hitaarthdamani3731 Or you could simply change the moveset in order to make it a bit more tame; at this point of the game, there's no reason to not give a Mega to Valerie, otherwise none of the Gym Leaders should have one in the first place... and trust me, many players would prefer fighting Mega Mawile
@@WhirlyBeepBoops That's assuming we'll get one in the first place; besides, I believe GameFreak had the intention to include Mega Mawile in her team, but they stopped midway for... their reasons
I think the rom hacks Pokemon Eternal X and Wilting Y are nice for a good time in gen 6. After the first 2 gyms every leader will then have a full team of 6 and once you obtain the mega ring moving forward all leaders will have a mega on their team. (I always DID hate how underused that mechanic was in the story)
I think it’s a good idea to give gym leaders Pokemon you can encounter after you beat them. Because it’s like a tease of yet to come, which could make encountering those Pokemon later more memorable!!
You gave them reasonable buffs and additions. Nothing overly crazy and difficult, which is great! Nice improvements. Some people add way too many buffs and attempt to make the games very hard, but that doesn't work when little Timmy also wants to play. If I wanted a challenging Pokemon game, I'd go download one of the fan hacks instead.
Hey I appreciate the feedback! Yeah I like to not go overboard with these. I will say this is definitely the furthest I’ve pushed the difficulty this far. I’d recommend checking out the johto fixing series to see a slightly more balanced version, but that could also have to do with megas being a thing here
*My ideal Kalos Gym Leaders & Elite 4 Teams:* - Viola: Surskit, Spewpa & Vivillon - Grant: Carbink, Amaura & Tyrunt - Korrina: Pancham, Hawlucha & Lucario - Ramos: Jumpluff, Trevenant & Gogoat - Clemont: Dedenne, Magneton, Luxray & Heliolisk - Valerie: Aromatisse, Sylveon, Florges & Mega Mawile - Olympia: Malamar, Meowstic (Male), Meowstic (Female) & Mega Alakazam - Wulfric: Cloyster, Avalugg, Froslass, & Mega Abomasnow - Siebold: Barbaracle, Pelipper, Lanturn, Clawitzer & Mega Blastoise - Malva: Torkoal, Pyroar (Female), Chandelure, Talonflame & Mega Houndoom - Wikstrom: Klefki, Probopass, Bronzong, Aegislash & Mega Scizor - Drasna: Dragalge, Goodra, Noivern, Druddigon & Mega Altaria - Diantha: Diggersby, Gourgeist, Slurpuff, Aurorus, Pangoro & Mega Gardevoir This would mean that every Gen VI line beside the starters, Furfrou and the legendaries would be used in one of the teams. Furfrou is kept out because of it's too low of a BST for Diantha, overlapsing with Diggersby and because grooming is a mechanic being featured within Lumiose City itself.
@@michaelkowal3230I'm not the one you asked, but personally I'd just... *not* give him Relicanth, at least. I get what he was going for, but a BST of 485 on the second gym leader is a bit much, y'know? Especially with 130 Defense. Personally, I'd give him either Aron or even Lairon with Protect and Stealth Rock instead. Its stats are much more reasonable, and it's no other character's ace either. I know you don't get Aron or Lairon until Terminus Cave, but unless you have a Grass-type for Relicanth, I don't see you getting past it that early. Heck, even if you do, good luck to you.
I personally say that Olympia should have been a double battle, because of the anime. Plus, Female and Male Meowstic have sightly different movesets. One could make a very interesting team with them along with Slowking and Mega Medicham.
I wish they'd introduced more kalos original pokemon instead of just megas, which is why they have such a short Pokedex for new introduced pokemon in that generation
you do realize that mega mawile is actually nuts, having the highest attack stat out of every pokemon in the game because of huge power on the already decent 105 attack stat, having an amazing typing both defensively and offensively and having all round good bulk except for hp, this thing is a monster, I still like it though
The distance between the first and second gym in this game was so much that the first time I played x and y my froakie had already evolved all the way to Greninja before I went into the gym.
I did something like this, along with (not finishing) a team for every gym leader at every level of the game, since you’d be able to progress with whatever gym you challenge and would match the skill level needed. But the third gym would always have a mega Pokemon as they’re ace
I love most of your changes! They do make a lot of sense. However, I would have loved to see Kalos' connection to Unova reflected more in the choice of Pokémon, for example by giving Valerie (Mega-)Audino ^^
Thanks so much I appreciate it! What’s the connection between Kalos and unova? Also unfortunately Mega Audino wasn’t in X and Y, that was a new addition to ORAS
@@OKreations ah, I didn't have in mind when it got introduced... Kalos and Unova have a connection in the lore. I don't remember all the details, because it's been some years, but it's canon that at least have been in contact. This is seen the best in Parfum Palace, where there are several artworks of Unovan Pokémon, including big statues of Reshiram and Zekrom
I think korrina should have her mega lucario, think about it like this. It's an interesting way to show of the first mega evolution, giving the player an idea on what to expect from this mechanic and having to earn it from facing one themselves, it also makes it interesting if the mega lucario you get is the same one from the gym making it a cool interaction, and finally most fans sees mega lucario as her ace not the hawlucha
I feel like giving the third gym leader a mega would’ve been a bit too much, plus I like that their aces are all gen 6 pokemon, I’d like to keep it that way, but fun idea!
I think it would nice for Bonnie to help out her brother in the lumiose gym fight. I'm not saying it should be a double battle in the vein of Tate and Liza, but rather an assist battle in the vein of gen 7 wild battles. Bonnie would send a Dedenne that would have a moveset solely focused on helping out her brother and distrusting the player's strategy. Something like Nuzzle, encore, helping hand and charm. She would use Nuzzle to paralyse the opponent, then encore their last move, then charm them, then give a speed boost to the Emolga with nuzzle, then use helping hand. For Clemont, I would actually give him a mega manectric at this point. Players have access to mega lucario at this point, and if they don't want to use it it would be a nice challenge anyways. Manectric will start by using charged beam while the Dedenne uses nuzzle to give him a speed boost. Then it would mega evolve, with still have charged beam, as well as ice fang, fire fang and bite. This is to avoid it getting too much out of hand when mega evolved, while still being a big menace to any neutral target with charged beam.
A huge buff to those teams but to me I'd fix 3 things to make the battles even harder : - Gym Leaders use Mega Evolutions starting with the 3rd Gym, since it's introduced right before this battle. - Their Mega Pokémon become their ace. - I'd increase more the number of team members : 3 Pokémon for the 1st Gym, 4 for Gyms 2 to 4, 5 Pokémon for Gyms 5 to 7, and a full team for the last one.
I love these videos, as always you do a great job fixing Gym Leaders' teams! In previous Pokémon games, Gym Leaders had better teams and even post game teams of 6 Pokémon. However, the Gym Leader teams in XY are pitiful. Seriously, poor Viola barely has two Pokémon on her team. I like the fixed you made, especially on the Viola and Clemont's teams. Nincada is a great addition to Viola's team, but I most like the inclusion of Dedenne and Rotom in Clemont's team, not to mention including Mega Evolution for the last leaders. Was it that hard for Game Freak to think about that? I think Grant might have a Dwebble or Boldore, and for Wulfric a Mamoswine or Beartic 🤔 // I'll be waiting when you fix Kalos Elite Four's teams and Champion Diantha 🤍
@19:24 "Valerie. Yeah, this is a real character in Pokémon. Did you forget about her?" Literally impossible. Second only to Elesa, Valerie is my idol. I want to be everything she is💕
Initially you dont rhink its weird that X/Y didnt get second versions, then you remember its sandwhiches between 2 generations that DID in fact get 2 versions. B2/W2 were needed, but whyd we get US/UM? And why didnt we get Z? Its so confusing
For Viola I actually think Joltik would be a near perfect fit. It matches her web themed gym, and would be a great answer to the flying type the player would have on their team at this point. I know it's not available at this point, but we all know that third versions always add Pokémon to routes, and Joltik wouldn't be overpowered in gen 6 early game. I'm also not sure about the moveset you gave Vivillion, gust especially doesn't seem that useful at that point. I think that a Silver winds, stun powder, infestation, sleep powder set would make more sense, at this point the game is trying to teach the player about status effects and I think this set would be a good way to demonstrate how strong they can be. Basically it would combo sleep powder/stun powder with infestation to chip at the player while not taking damage, then switch to silver wind to fish for a boost while the player is incapacitated. Of course for it to be balanced, Vivillion would have minimal investment in its special attack.
You’ve done great changes i would have given Korrina a Lucario since she uses it later and I would give Wulfric a Vaniluxe as a lead to step up hail but overall you’ve done a really good job with them
Thanks dood! Yeah I think Lucario would’ve been a fun add there, but I wanted to add vanilluxe too for Snow Warning, but it didn’t get that ability until gen 7!
24:49 Why not also give a Light Clay to Sigilyph? It would be good on Valerie's Mr. Mime, too, but I suppose that would raise the difficulty of her gym a bit more than you think it should be?
intimidate, alongside with an elemental fang of some kind- perhaps ice? with a physical electric move, and snarl if it can know it? it would make this thunder gym have both physical and special attackers, and a surprisingly bulky end pkmn where a ground type isnt a clean answer. i could see manectric being added on rematches as well!
This would take away the "ace" spot fom Heliolisk, though; maybe in a rematch team would fit better, alongside Manectric (I'd picked Mega Ampharos, as option)
Luxray is problematic, due it not being obtainable until Post-Game, since you only can get Luxio in the Friend Safari and Friend Safari exclusives should never be an option to consider imo, at least not during the Normal playthrough (Battle Chateau and rematch teams it would be fine however, since rematch teams are also post-game and you can wait with Battle Chateau until post-game as well).
Something a lot of people miss is that before the first gym, with a little running around, you can just get a Lucario. A steel fighting type that crushes the first 2 gyms.
My fight against Olympia was just a joke. A zoruark disguised as a Blaziken tricked them into only using psychic attacks I was immune to. I didn't even do it on purpose, i just happened to have a fighting type in the back of my team at the time
Man I just wish the Heliolisk line was a 3 stage... 2 fairly small and fast lizards into some really large wall of a komodo dragon, it'd be such a cool ace for Clemont (especially with your version's rain idea coz a healing wall would be a proper challenge for more than halfway through the game)
I had actually tried to re-write the gym leader's team for the new game, and personally my favorite one is Viola because I put stuff like; -Sticky Web Shuckle -Eviolite Anorith & Scyther -Mega Beedrill (With Twineedle & Poison Sting)
I appreciate keeping Grant's Amaura the way it is. That thing is one of the most challenging opponents in X and Y from my experience. I mean, first, you have the annoying Thunder Wave, but then you have Refrigerate boosted Take Down. Take Down already has 90 power, so when you multiply that by 1.3 (plus an additional 1.5 thanks to STAB), you get a move with roughly 175 power. This is the second gym.
LOVE the pixel art trainer sprites! Did you make them? Wish there was a hard mode for things like this, buffing bosses and providing more of a challenge. Maybe someday
My only thought / criticism as some flavour. For having Rotom with Clemont, maybe introduce it as Rotom form of the weakness of the starter with heat / wash / mow.
A real quick addendum: Hail will most likely no longer exist and will be replaced with Snowscape, which doubles the defense stats of all ice mons. Still procs from snow warning, and will do some fun shenanigans with snow cloak on Beartic. Same with Avalugg and Abomasnow. To be honest, I feel more items could be added in on the later gyms. A megavolution is good, but some of these megas are not that good. Especially Wulfric's. Don't get me wrong, a BST of 594 is high, but 4x weakness to fire as well as a 2x weakness to 6 other types, with just 4 resistances, and you might as well say MA gets no turn in the spotlight. Especially since Delphox is a special attacker and even with maxed out EVs on its Special defense would do nothing to keep it alive. Honestly, if it's Mega ability was swapped to either thick fat or filter, then I feel Abomasnow would get a lot more viability with its megavolution.
I mean it’s still hail in gen 6, remember this would just function in the mechanics of gen 6. But fair enough on more items! Didn’t wanna go too overboard and especially with that mega mawile, I think there’s plenty of added challenge without, could def see screen extending items or something like that
@@OKreations True. From what I remember about the Indigo Disk. A lot of the teams were comp viable, including hidden abilities and lots of held items. I am currently attempting a nuzlocke of S/V rn to see if it is challenging or nah.
I think it's funny for me the attack Power-Up Punch named in German Power Punch btw good Video I think your team for the gym leader are better than Game Freak made them
Here's The Megas that would make sense on each Gym Leader: Mega Beedrill on Viola Mega Aerodactyl on Grant Obviously Mega Lucario on Korrina Mega Venusaur on Ramos Mega Ampharos on Clemont Mega Mawile on Valerie Mega Slowbro on Olympia (but drop her Slowking for Malamar) Mega Abomasnow on Wulfric (But give him Vanilluxe, and Weavile too).
Mega Beedrill and Slowbro were released in ORAS, though; so I don't think they would fit, unless we're talking about a hypotetical Pokémon Z; also... take that Malamar out from her team, please! 😂
Of all the gym leaders. The kalos region definitely needs the biggest revamp when it gets a remake.

I mostly agree but I actually think the first two Gym Leaders are fine as they are actually
MOre Megas and more double battles and more love. More romance
Everything in that region needs a revamp.
But at this point, I fully believe they are going to be so cheap that they are straight up gonna port the game from 3ds to Switch.
@@apricot8301What Do You Mean By If??
The obvious thing is they should’ve had megas, the big new feature of X & Y and none of the Gym Leader (or Elite Four) use it.
Well exept for Korrina.
@@RODRIGOWOLF37yeah but i don’t think she did in the actual gym battle
In the 8th gym battle, Wulfric uses a Mega Abomasnow ☝️🤓

@@odie9202It wasn't? Had no idea. Goes to show how underutilized the three we did have in 6 went.
Clemont being the quiz master and having a Rotom on his team could be used as well. For example the player could answers a quiz while going through the gym and its form could change based on the answers the player gives.
I love this idea
Imagine the question asked is a meta one and Rotom's form is whatever is super effective against your answer. In universe Clemont is getting clues to your team and is putting rotom in the right appliance to counter.
Question: If you're fighting a strong pokemon, what would you do?
5 options:
Paralyze with stun spore = Rotom heat
Confuse with Water Pulse = Rotom Base
Burn with will-o-wisp = Rotom Wash
Dodge with Sand Attack = Rotom fridge
Use raw power like Close Combat = Rotom fan
Something interesting to Clemont, Valerie, Olympia and Wulfric is that their character's models are 3 tiles wide. This is due to Clemont's mechanical hands, Valerie's long sleeves, Olympia's wide cape, and Wulfric's big coat going over adjacent tiles. Just for this fact, I think Clemont should have a Mega :D
To be honest, I see Clemont more with a Mega-Ampharos, the _"Light Pokémon"._ It resonates more with Lumiose City _"The City of Light",_ previously suffering from a power outage.
I've seen other fixing videos pass up on Mega Ampharos here just because it's the only viable option for the dragon-type on Elite Four team-building.
@@Shalakormight as well give Drasna Mega Altaria even though it wasn’t in XY cause she had one in the anime
In context for the dragon mega problem, it's probably because they didn't want an 'important' character to have the upgraded version of a champion's ace (Cynthia with Garchomp) or a mega you have access to early on (either Charizard mega since you can get the starter for 'free')
When it comes to revamps tho, I think it should be allowed to add in future pokemon to the teams, especially when it comes to megas since they were only in 2 games
Honestly for Clemont I think Galvantula would work better than Manetric. Its part bug type so its neutral to ground, and im like 90% sure joltik can be found and evolved before the gym. Plus galvantula has somewhat better coverage with energy ball as opposed to flamethrower
Joltik / Galvantula arent available until after obtaining the national dex in this game
but what about luxray, he canonically has one
@@violet-ii1tyshinx isn’t found naturally in xy

@mreevee7785 theoretically as a third version there would be an expanded dex.
After Korrina’s battle, each Gym Leader will use a Mega Evolved 6th Gen Pokémon
Clemont - Mega Helioptile
Valerie (Fairy) - Mega Sylveon
Olympia - Mega Malamar
Wulfric - Mega Avalugg
The Elite Four will do the same.
Mega for every gym leader after the fighting gym to really give a challenge
Speaking of megas. Bring back those pokemon as side evos in a future gen so it's not wasted. For some that don't change types just give the stats or abilities like for Beedrill
Oh! As someone who's hated Megas due to how it cut off a lot of Evo lines, I'd love this idea
And for Arceus' sake, make more Grass Megas. Of all the 42 mega Pokémon, 3 of them are grass type, and 2 of them are starter Pokémon
@@MegaPokefan97 make more ice and electric megas, we got just two for each of thos types!
Agreed with all points. Make some of the Gen 6 pokemon Megas as well.

I would take Olympia and Wulfric one step further. Give Sigilyph Light Clay for the screens to last longer, and give the Icy Rock (Hail extender) to Cryogonal. The items might not come into play too often, but the last gym leaders should have multiple items, in my opinion.
OH MY GOD. I'll give a white herb to Cloyster so it can shell smash to raise its attack and speed and the herb stops the defences from lowering.
Mega Mawile has a bigger BST than you think, because it has huge power.
Hey thanks for the feedback!!! I’ll consider
Doing every gen, I do think one or two more def need it for sure
Things get easy from Korrina onwards [who is weaker than a random battle girl in Reflection Cave, she seriously has a worse Hawlucha moveset]
Also Hawlucha gets walled by ghosts as soon as it uses fling again.
I have come across a ton of videos for how to fix Kalos gym leaders, this is my favorite one so far

Hard agree. Also the fact that theres still another mon sitting behind both of these busted megas that you'll have to deal with using your likely currently-on-deaths-door team, makes these 2 fights in particular way too hard for gyms 6 & 7.
Also both will likely be under the effects of screens due to their lead mons. Disgusting.

Thank you, For letting me remember Relicanth. It actually means so much!!!
i think some teams don’t make sense based on the characters and their personalities but that’s coming from someone who watched the anime. korrina’s 2d sprite was nightmare fuel 😭
interesting ideas overall! let's see:
-Viola: adding a Nincada comes with the huge advantage of not making the gym passible of being wiped to the ground by Rollout (which Chespin gets at this point)!
I think it's safe to add a fourth Pokémon already here if it's nothing too strong, though, so I think I'd keep the Weepinbell
-Clemont: now that you mention it, Rotom not being on the team is almost conspicuous, between the rotom-dex and the fact that it'd give him something to throw against the route full of Ground-types that precedes his gym. anyway, I wonder if rain-thunder is a bit much for this stage in the game still, but the synergy with Dry Skin is great.
-Valerie: so this is a good point to start adding megas, and Valerie does have a Mawile already. that, however, BST notwithstanding, is one of THE strongest megas, second arguably only to Kangaskhan and some legendaries. it needs a much weaker moveset at the very least.
-Olympia: I think it's safe to have a held item somewhere besides the mega stone by now, iirc there's a fair gap of adventure between Valerie and here. this is otherwise pretty good, and there really wasn't much to change to begin with besides the low team count; Olympia could beat Wulfric any day I think. oh, and I'd actually keep the Power Gem on that Slowking; seems more fun that way, and it's not really gaining thaaat much more with Surf
-Wuflric: Shell Smash Skill Link Icicle Spear goes a touch too hard for a throwaway lead, but I do like the idea of having a Spikes Cloyster up front; stack with the subsequent Hail and you've got a beautiful nightmare of gradual damage for this gym's theme. it also has the benefit of catching anyone who thought they'd just be stomping this with a Fire-type - not to mention that putting Hail in the back pocket has the added benefit of foiling a certain mega Fire-type's own weather-setting ability. it's a much better team overall (low bar I know), with some really interesting synergies playing here and there - Confuse Ray to extend the hail pain, and if you just switch out of it you get the Spikes; Weavile can come in to sweep all over a thoroughly gradually-damaged team; so on and so forth.
mega mawile literally CAN'T have a worse moveset without becoming a joke, its physical movepool has no earlygame stabs

I think overall you nailed it! The only miss in my eyes is mega mawile, that pokemon is in the same tier as xerneas. You created the hardest gym battle any mainline game has ever had.
It could have just bite and nothing else and still be way too strong

Really cool video! Just bugged out a bit by the change on Olympia's Slowking, you put Own Tempo instead of Oblivious. Being immune to confusion is alright, but Oblivious would be way more useful, preventing taunt (which is a dark type move on top of that) to block Slowking's calm mind and yawn.

The electric boogaloo joke took me back to Drag Race.

That mon number is a bit overkill for that early...
by that point in the game you’re probably well on your way to a full team yourself, I think it’s fine
I think it’s a good idea to give gym leaders Pokemon you can encounter after you beat them. Because it’s like a tease of yet to come, which could make encountering those Pokemon later more memorable!!
Interesting idea! I usually like confining gym leaders to the same options as the player to make it a bit more fair but there are exceptions

I recently posted a video of making actual rematch teams for Kalos, so I can’t wait to see how similar or different they are!
I personally say that Olympia should have been a double battle, because of the anime. Plus, Female and Male Meowstic have sightly different movesets. One could make a very interesting team with them along with Slowking and Mega Medicham.
Totally agreed!👍❤💖
However, I think GameFreak didn't do that, because of ORAS 😅
I wish they'd introduced more kalos original pokemon instead of just megas, which is why they have such a short Pokedex for new introduced pokemon in that generation
For Tyrunt, I'd add Fire Fang instead of Thunder Fang, due to Tyrunt's Ice & Steel weaknesses
you do realize that mega mawile is actually nuts, having the highest attack stat out of every pokemon in the game because of huge power on the already decent 105 attack stat, having an amazing typing both defensively and offensively and having all round good bulk except for hp, this thing is a monster, I still like it though
rain dance for the first gym is pretty op
I really hope Legends Z-A gives us lots of new and powerful Pokémon cause kalos desperately needs this considering there only 74 kalos Pokémon
The distance between the first and second gym in this game was so much that the first time I played x and y my froakie had already evolved all the way to Greninja before I went into the gym.
That’s wild haha
Nice video. It’s always frustrated me how bad the Kalos leaders are designed
Thanks so much!
I looove this, it would’ve been so much more of a good challenge to play these teams. I NEED a kalos elite 4/champion rework next!❤
Thanks dood! Coming soon!
I did something like this, along with (not finishing) a team for every gym leader at every level of the game, since you’d be able to progress with whatever gym you challenge and would match the skill level needed. But the third gym would always have a mega Pokemon as they’re ace
19:45 don’t forget lucario
Ah I see!
Justice for Vivillion, the forgotten counter to Viola's team, along with Butterfree
A huge buff to those teams but to me I'd fix 3 things to make the battles even harder :
- Gym Leaders use Mega Evolutions starting with the 3rd Gym, since it's introduced right before this battle.
I think Grant might have a Dwebble or Boldore, and for Wulfric a Mamoswine or Beartic 🤔
// I'll be waiting when you fix Kalos Elite Four's teams and Champion Diantha 🤍
Thanks for the feedback dood! I appreciate it! Yeah I could totally see the boldore or mamoswine! It’ll be a while but it’ll be out at some point😂
@@OKreations Don't worry, take your time. I'll be waiting for it 😆
Sounds goo!
@19:24
"Valerie. Yeah, this is a real character in Pokémon. Did you forget about her?"
Literally impossible. Second only to Elesa, Valerie is my idol. I want to be everything she is💕
Fair enough, I wouldn’t say everyone would remember her per say
@@OKreations oh wow didn’t know regarding Vaniluxe that sucks
Ikrrrr
24:49 Why not also give a Light Clay to Sigilyph? It would be good on Valerie's Mr. Mime, too, but I suppose that would raise the difficulty of her gym a bit more than you think it should be?
Yeah I definitely considered those, it wouldn’t be that much more difficult tbh, I could’ve added it
Regarding Clemont, I was thinking his ace could be a Luxray like in the anime
intimidate, alongside with an elemental fang of some kind- perhaps ice? with a physical electric move, and snarl if it can know it? it would make this thunder gym have both physical and special attackers, and a surprisingly bulky end pkmn where a ground type isnt a clean answer. i could see manectric being added on rematches as well!
I see, I had no idea Luxray was not an option in the main story
A reminder for those who forgot Leech life was a base 20 move until sun and moon
Mega Mawile would be terrifying to fight in a gym battle
I remember Valerie as the gym leader who looks like they have wings and black eyes. Pretty memorable to me. 19:29
Fair enough! Definitely a memorable design, just speaks to how forgettable they are if someone doesn’t remember them
i sorta can’t wait for people to overblow how hard the gym leaders are if they change anything about the remakes
Something a lot of people miss is that before the first gym, with a little running around, you can just get a Lucario. A steel fighting type that crushes the first 2 gyms.
Yeah it’s a neat lil tidbit, you can do the same with b2w2
If you wanna continue this series, I’d love to see you try to make the trial captains gym leader style teams
That would be a fun video to make!
My fight against Olympia was just a joke. A zoruark disguised as a Blaziken tricked them into only using psychic attacks I was immune to. I didn't even do it on purpose, i just happened to have a fighting type in the back of my team at the time
Okreations back at it with another banger!!
I always thought that Kalos had the most lackluster roster of Gym Leaders of the entire series, so this should be interesting
Ikr! What did you think?
@@OKreations I thought this video was pretty good! I'm subbed now
Your videos are always so gorgeous. 👏🏻 do you do your own editing? Or do you have an editor? If so how do I contact them 😂😂
Thanks so much I really appreciate it! I do do my own editing! I design the visuals in Figma haha
19:00 heliolisk should be given thunder to benefit from rain dance
Yeah good point!
Holy hell man Valerie might have been less threatening if you gave her xerneas
16:51 i think rotom wash would be better because that’s a bigger threat and would work with rain dance
Fair!
I had actually tried to re-write the gym leader's team for the new game, and personally my favorite one is Viola because I put stuff like;
-Sticky Web Shuckle
-Eviolite Anorith & Scyther
-Mega Beedrill (With Twineedle & Poison Sting)
Mega Beedrill isn't even possible for Viola, as Mega Beedrill isn't a thing until ORAS.
@@nickdentoom1173 I know that, that's why I said;
"I had tried to re-write the gym leader's team for the new game"
Valerie is still my favorite ❤ love her finally getting a good team
25:28. Lysandre is the second one. Successor Korrina is fought way earlier with a Mega Lucario.
Ya you know what I mean tho, I don’t really count that fight in base game ya know
I would honestly like to see a part 2 focused on Gym Leader Rematches.
Yeah Valerie will wreck house with that Mega Mawile!
Are there any X & Y fangames that have teams like these for the leaders? Cuz i‘m all for it
I know there’s a drayano hack!
Yeah it’s an insane set for gym 2, even considering the level (25) is usually more like gym 3-4 in other games
The big issue with Wulfric is the game gives you a mega lucario and expects you to be surprised when you sweep him
Yeahhh I would’ve liked to see an ice gym leader like somewhere around the gym 3-5 range instead
LOVE the pixel art trainer sprites! Did you make them?
Wish there was a hard mode for things like this, buffing bosses and providing more of a challenge. Maybe someday
Nope! I have the creator credited in the comments! I wish too!
My only thought / criticism as some flavour. For having Rotom with Clemont, maybe introduce it as Rotom form of the weakness of the starter with heat / wash / mow.
Cool idea!

I like how tge megas are just part if the team and not just made the new ace since Aces are meant to show off the new pokemon in the gen dex
Hard agree
I think it's funny for me the attack Power-Up Punch named in German Power Punch btw good Video I think your team for the gym leader are better than Game Freak made them
Haha nice! Thanks!
i think the reason why none of the gyms had megas is to keep the player from using item stealing moves to get a free mega stone
Huh interesting thought
Here's The Megas that would make sense on each Gym Leader:
Mega Beedrill on Viola
Mega Aerodactyl on Grant
Obviously Mega Lucario on Korrina
Mega Venusaur on Ramos
Mega Ampharos on Clemont
Mega Mawile on Valerie
Mega Slowbro on Olympia (but drop her Slowking for Malamar)
Mega Abomasnow on Wulfric (But give him Vanilluxe, and Weavile too).
Mega Beedrill and Slowbro were released in ORAS, though; so I don't think they would fit, unless we're talking about a hypotetical Pokémon Z; also... take that Malamar out from her team, please! 😂
Mega Beedrill and Mega Slowbro are impossible, as they are introduced in ORAS.
That Clemont team hits
