    This mixer is pretty decent. But the software guys were overthinking this thing. The interface is not exactly user-friendly. I had to get this to replace a Midas Mr18 till one gets back in stock. Midas made it really really user friendly. The recording set up for a DAW, is suer easy. Just plug in the USB, and open your DAW and do the basic steps to connect. All the channels match from channel 1 to 18 and none of that weird crap going to channel 12 and going from there. If they would break it down like Midas has this could be a killer unit for everyone.

    Some good info in here I'm sure, but I'm still back on the 'gee, no sound is coming out of my DAW...' problem. I'll come back to this after I've gotten the basic output working.

    Thanks for the tutorial! - I have been trying to get channels 11-20 into my Reaper using the soundcheck feature but for some reason the only outputs i can get running from the UI24 to the DAW are channels 1-10 (the master LR and the Aux's) no matter what i do i cannot get channels 11 - 20. This is only happening when in soundcheck mode, i can get signal to 11 - 20 if i have live mic inputs - any ideas?

    Great video! Thanks for this one! Maybe it would be a good idea to add "using reaper" to the title? :) Keep up your great work!

    Question: When trying to record a drummer using Reaper's click track and two other previously recorded tracks, I’m experiencing latency issues. Is there a way to get a direct output from the UI to the drummer’s headphones without it passing through the DAW, ie direct monitoring? Would I use one of the AUX XLR outputs to the headphones, or is there a way to patch to get a direct output? Sorry if this is confusing...

    Hello and thanks very much for the help! The uir is an amazing mixer, but it's quite something to get used to it when you're not a pro. Is it possible to use hardware in insert? Is it possible to make an effect loop and to use it on every tracks like with the insert of the old mixers?
    Thanks again!

      Yes. Auxes are outs 3-10 and then feed it back to the input. Ableton has an external audio tool for this

    I’m a bit confused ~ is it possible SoundCraft can make some downloadable Templates for StudioOne 4 (.song) and for other DAW’s!? That would jumpstart us & we’ll understand the signal flow better! Thanks

    • @mix-record-connect9938
      @mix-record-connect9938  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The Signal flow is actually the SAME with any DAW, you just choose your input channel and output channel as per what your DAW teaches you to do.
      It's basically acting as an audio interface but also includes a mixer in the middle. If I get a chance I will make some more vids.

    Logic Pro X? Also is there a way to still get the dsp fx audio into the daw as well as just the preamp audio?

      @mix-record-connect9938  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Logic Pro X works certainly, If you want to record POST DSP you need to assign to AUX OUT or MASTER OUT individually. But generally speaking most want to record PRE Processing to DAW.

    Hi. I watched some of your videos regarding this mixer because I might be interested in one for a podcasting/streaming setup. What I could not find in the manuals or other resources is, what channels are presented (and how) to Windows native, so not with ASIO. I want to use some AUX outputs routed to USB to have a mix minus for voice communications. The analog Sountrack MTX mixers present the channels as multiple 2 channel soundcards to Windows. Is that the same here, and are all input and output channels available?

    All those clicks and it's literally one button on my SC Signature MTK, USB RTN. Digitals are nice, but too convoluted for me. I can do everything else you did in Reaper the exact same way without having 3 browsers open, or inserting, or sending, or patching, switching tabs or anything else... one button... from any channel, to any channel...same as the Ui. Watching videos like this make me absolutely sure I made the right choice, for me, going with the Signature console.

    • @mix-record-connect9938
      @mix-record-connect9938  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are comparing an analog console to a Ui24R. The flexibility comes at a price. The control is the HTML5 page. If it had buttons it would be the same :-). Once you set it up, you can always save the setup for instant recall, you can't do that on the Signature either. (Although both are great for what they are).

    • @wyreduprecordingstudio4701
      @wyreduprecordingstudio4701 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mix-record-connect9938 the Sig MTK is a full I/O interface, thereby making it a digital interface as adda conversion is done in the mixer. It has the added benefit of a built in analogue strip. That said, it's not about the Ui or the Sig... it's about me... as I said...'too convoluted for me', and 'I made the right choice for me' ...I love the tech built into the Ui24 and everything Danny did with it... but it's got it's issues... especially with the Ver 2/3 firmware/hardware problems. Audio dropouts, lost connections, blank gui's, full on resets in the middle of a session, and just so many other weird quirks, like clearing your browser cache to get into your mixer...just nutty stuff that audio folks shouldn't have to deal with. 2 yrs with the MTK and it's never, ever, made so much as a squeak. It just sits there with it's buttons, knobs, and faders... waiting to be moved... lol... And sounds fabulous doing it every time. No drama.

      Good luck saving and recalling mixes on your Signature. Also, enjoy your 4 band semi parametric EQ, your 2 digital effect units with less than half the monitor outs of the Ui24r (none on XLR) and your 8 channels of compression with no parameters and zero noise gates.

    [ ] Playback time offset (if checked has button 'O' to adjust, 'O' ms, 'O' samples,
    (Sends) Add new send, (Audio Hardware Outputs) Add new Hardware Output, then left side has MIDI Hardware Output

    Anybody knows whether it is possible to use a prerecorded song in soundcheck mode, in combination with effects plugins in a DAW? Signal flow would then be: USB-A input, send to DAW, and input from USB-DAW. Hence, simultaneous input patching from USB-A and USB-DAW would be required. Alternatively, could a split into sections of the inputs on the patching matrix, for instance input 1-11 are patched from USB-A and 12-24 from USB-DAW solve it? Or do I need to play the prerecorded song from the DAW?

I have ui24 SOUNDCRAFT and I'm doing it like this: via USB cable, leave ui24 and go to my Mac where I have the Logic Pro x, from there I do all the mixing and I want to send this mixed signal back to ui24, how do I do it? because this mixed signal I want to use a physical output from the auxiliary 1 of the ui24 so that I can send this mixed signal to the live transmission, in Logic on the output channels, which one do I put? and in ui 24, how do I configure this signal that is coming from Logic to enter ui24 and exit at Aux 1 output of ui24? Thank you very much in advance

      you know how the channels work with USB? to return a mix to the Ui24R you need to use a pair of channels to select input or send it directly to an AUX. You need to PATCH the input as USB B DAW input.

    It seems I get an Input signal from my instruments. When I record on Reaper, I get something but I can't play it back. I also want my PC sound to come out via UI24 which goes to my PA boxes but nothing works. I am really desperate now. It's not only about the DAW but also about the regular PC settings I guess. I hope my problem is clear to understand, I'm having a hard time translating this...
