Good mix...as im a noob at this i was given the task to work on the Aux sends side of things for live streaming purposes. would it be possible to do video on that it would be a great help.
In the other tutorials there is no gate button on edit.. its just a compressor then inthe compressor there is a slider name gate.. where didyou get that button.. you have different button for gate..
on my old digital desk it was suggested to mix meters close to zero. Where is the safe zone for this mixer for metering? The metering light is confusing as it's mostly red the whole time, would be nice if it was green to yellow to red like on older digital mixers to let the person mixing know when things are clipping. I know that the manual says there is now clipping...not sure how that works, but it would be nice to know where levels should be...and proper colouring of the meters would be handy.

I am quite impressed with this mixer, especially with some nice features. But I was surprised to find that the aux/matrix outputs don't have parametric EQs, Such a featured compact mixer can be very useful for optimisation of midsize venues, besides mixing.
Hi, I think you are very mistaken, all Aux'x have Delays Compression and 31 band EQ and you can have upto 10 as well as Matrixes (upto 10) and LPF HPF on these as well as 31 band and delay. So please refer to the newer V2 information.
Oh, that's good news. But why on earth do you still stick to GEQs when you know that knowledgeable modern sound engineers would give a good laugh at them? So, my last wish, before I decide to buy this powerful mixer, is that each AUX OUTPUT has a parametric EQ, which becomes a matrix assignable from the L&R mains as & when required.
I am sorry if you feel GEQ's are not used but the fact is most users that use a Ui24R or this level mixer have not had much access to PEQ's for monitors or Matrix and feel much more comfortable using 31band EQ's. That's a fact as it was market researched. Many users from ANALOG side never had PEQ's on outputs and many first time users understand 31band much easier than PEQ. So your assumption that modern sound engineers laugh at them depends on what you use and who you are. This mixer (the ui24R) is far ahead of the competition in sound quality and features. Every user has requests of things they would like to see added or changed and that's perfectly OK, we are happy to hear of requests. Join the Facebook group and you will see the kind of support you will have from all other users.
Soundcraft Ui24R, why not provide both options of GEQs & (6 band) PEQs to Aux Outs & Matrix Outs so as to cater to both sides of users? Or is that option very costly? Or do you exactly know that those who buy UI24R only need GEQs? Or do you know that there are negligible prospective buyers/users who need PEQs instead of GEQs? Even 16 input mixers have both options of GEQs & PEQs in Aux Outs & Matrix Outs, I don't see any reason for a great 24 input mixers like the UI24R not to have them.
I hate those GEQ in the master and aux masters, is there a way to route all the channels through the group and use the PEQ instead? What happens when the FX returns, do they stay unprocessed in this scenario?

I've been using a ui-16 for about 6 months now and I love it, but I was disappointed that it could not multitrack record. So, thinking of upgrading. The one concept that was new to me here was the separate setting for USB output gain which appears to be different than setting channel input gains. Why does the USB stick need a different gain and how can you tell if you've got it right? Thanks for making a great video BTW..

Probably best to use an AUX send to it and cross over the main speakers (depending what kind of sub you have) That's for live music you really just want KICK and some BASS going to it.
I am sorry to say, it cannot NOT WORK, your software can't be different to any other, it works if it's assigned correctly. As I have no idea what or how you assigned channels I can't really say what the issue is.
Man, great band. They are crushing it. Anyway this recording sounds very good to me. This seems like a great front end console for a small studio instead of a traditional interface. Is there a way to use some external mic pre-amps for the special character that they can bring? Line ins? Also when recording to DAW, it's dry right? No effects? I am thinking that making nice monitor mixes for each musician with no latency would be a breeze with the onboard DSP but what goes in the DAW would be dry for ITB mixing later on?
Hi Jacob, Yes purple revolution are a really good tight band. You can certainly use external mic preamps and run Line Level inputs either XLR or if you need TRS on the combo connector have a built in 15dB pad as well. DAW recording is dry that is correct, monitor mixes are perfect in the way to describe, add FX to them and record them dry for ITB mixing. That's exactly how I use it as well.
I want to get Ui24. 1 question, Can I link the Aux to Master? For example, I want to use Aux1&2 or Master for tops speakers and Aux3&4 for subwwofers. Can I link them together? or use DCA so i can use 1 fader for the volume?
Yes you can, the best way to do so is to Switch the AUX to a MATRIX send, Then you have the master output on both and controlled by one FADER, you can then use the HPF and LPF as xover points.
I was unable to use the Subgroups and VCAs simultaneously. The levels had to follow each other and I lost significant output to my mains. Any idea why? Also couldn't unsend to mains for my supgroups w/out losing signal to my mains as well. Is this a problem with the UI24 that you are aware of?
A subgroup is a MIX bus, it won't change the SEND levels for example (pre fader) to FX. While a VCA by reducing the level would do so. In certain situations you could reduce the levels of drums for example in a subgroup but the snare reverb would remain just as loud. In reality you should use Subgroups as a MIX BUS to apply EQ or Compression to a group while using VCA (or DCA) to actually control the amount of level going to the subgroup from the channels.
Yes it is designed to be used for a LIVE show or as an audio interface. Just plug the XLR's into the front panel as you would to any other console. YES you can use for monitors all at the same time. (as well as recording directly to a USB stick).

Soundcraft Ui24R i would like to buy ui16 for make a mix of my drum set for live gig. Maybe the "one knob gate" has not the good amount of precision for gating live drums. It's important work with the attack and also with the s/c filter.
If I understand what you are doing here correctly, you are remixing a live recording from within the UI24 rather than loading the files into a daw for mixdown?
The UI24R has a Studer based design for the preamps, it's competes with any high quality stand alone mic preamps which are available on the market. Just as an audio interface it would be worth getting. You cannot compare it to a Ui12, it's a different design.
Why did you change the software? The way it is right now, makes it harder to reach EQs, comps, etc... it's not as intuitive as the one youre showing on the video
Sorry, I am not sure what you mean, nothing has changed.... It's exactly 100% the same, it has additions but you can choose to work in this way. So please have a look and see that your working in this mode.

Even 16 input mixers have both options of GEQs & PEQs in Aux Outs & Matrix Outs, I don't see any reason for a great 24 input mixers like the UI24R not to have them.
Why is there sometimes the clipping "C" warning (above the master) showing? Can't see any clipping on single faders... 🤔

In the ui24 the gate section is fully editable (attack,relase, range, etc...). What about this function in the ui 12/16?

Yes with Ui24 Gui you can choose how you want it to look, we have various versions included and you can select from different screens.
