I think they're very astute observations. I intimidate a lot of people without realizing or any intention to and have been told so directly by supervisors. That's why I will never place myself in a smaller company because, from experience, one with these characteristics becomes viewed as a threat... especially if you have more education and experience than those above you. And that's just from intelligence and personality, mind you. Couple that with someone who's 6'4" and built like a NFL linebacker and people become REALLY intimidated. I've been told "you have a presence" or "you could walk into a room and own it," both of which are contradictory to my personality: I would rather watch from afar and observe and do things behind the scenes without drawing attention to myself.

That seems to be the case a lot of times. INTJs come across as intimidating even when they aren't trying to be. I'd say being 6'4" probably doesn't help that situation!! Typically, it's not necessarily an INTJ trying to be intimidating, but the focus and determination are what take people back.

I get told I am intimidating a lot because I don't put up with BS so this video provided me with some insight. Thanks!

You sooooooooo nailed this one. They don't say I'm "intimidating"... they just flat out say they're afraid of me. Good. Stay over THERE, because something is driving that fear... & I know I haven't done a thing to earn it... Yet.🖤

Hey, thank you - I appreciate that!
So, they don't sugarcoat it at all, huh!? 🤣 and that's right, typically it's just an INTJ being an INTJ, which for some can be a lot to handle; and they usually don't handle it too well. As always, I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment. 👍🏻🙂

      @@SuccessForBreakfast No sugar coat...
I just learned 2 days ago, that when one of the few I trust first found out about me, she was scared shitless of me... made wide circles for a year, before she decided to take a chance. Since then, we have developed a good bond, but I'm kinda stunned that I had that affect on her. She says my eyes are hard to get used to- they pierce. ...another physical attribute that's mostly completely unconscious. 🖤
Edit: I've only ever known 2 others, both men: one is still at KSC as far as last I spoke to him, THE world authority on Thigmomorphogenesis; the study of vibration on living tissue. His eyes are piercing, like mine.
The other & I have become friends. He is career Navy, a Systems Analyst for Nuclear Programming. He's got some interesting stories, & a classic "death gaze" when he looks dead at you.
Our eyes do give us away...🖤

@@skyinuri8868 Multiple times I've been asked "Why are you staring at me so intensely???"... when I wasn't- I was looking in their direction, but NEVER saw them, only superficially aware of my surroundings, deeply engrossed in crunching some aspect of a current protocol modification prospect... clearly annoyed at their interruption!!! "Just because I'm looking in you direction DOES NOT MEAN you're the next contestant on "What I'm Thinking!!!""...is similar to my response, in a revolted tone, boring holes in them as I abruptly LEAVE to find a more suitable "perch."
Sometimes I go into my "crunch trance" when I'm sitting listening to some interaction between those I'm actually with, & get jolted back to the present with a hand on my shoulder, the owner beseeching "Did you hear what I just said???" I didn't... I was a universe away, the "trance" almost an automatic switch triggered by some phrase paragraphs back... now blushing, trying to "catch up" on what I missed!!! Only an unrelated few have ever figured out that my "fixed death stare" is the only hint that I'm engrossed in my "crunch trance" & leave me alone till I "come back;" I intensely appreciate their understanding of one of my strangest "habits," very discernible by my eyes...🖤

As an INTJ, I have mastered the ability to "play dumb" in many situations and only offer a surface level personality that I share with the public. Part of this is due to naturally being a private person, some of it due to being too deep and analytical for most people, and some of it due to me hiding under the guise of being an unthreatening, pleasant and agreeable person. I never show all my cards at once, only a few at a time. Because of this, people greatly underestimate me because of my surface level aloof nature...all the while, the real me is calculating my next move, making plans, devising how to use other people's underestimatation of me to my advantage. It's kind of funny now that I think about it. I play Clark Kent most days, but there's a superwoman underneath this disguise, lol. I cause people to drop their guard because I don't come across as a threat, but this is simply a mastermind move I use to level up while they are doubting me. 😆🤓

If you work in the sciences you will be valued and promoted. If you work at service jobs they will view as a threat and try to get you fired. I worked at a service job while in college and was fired because the manager was jealous.

This is why I like working warehouse jobs. No customers, no phones and the job is science based. Drama and whining won't make a machine work. Also math is involved. I love it.

I've definitely been told that I am intimidating before, haha. Having ADHD in addition to being an INTJ has definitely made me run my mouth in situations where I would have been better off being quiet, even though I was trying to help. The whole "even when people don't ask for it" thing you said is spot on with my experience.

One caveat about ignorance... if it's a category of knowledge we're not interested in, we'll remain ignorant and defer to experts in the field. For me, that category is medicine. I don't know and I don't WANT to know. Don't tell me, just take care of it.

We somehow know when our learning of a subject hasn't gone deep enough. This never really happens absolutely, but degrees of reaching that goal is known when it occurs. Because of this it is often more about reaching an adequate degree of learning for the time being, but that doesn't mean it stops.

I’m fairly sure that I’m an INTJ and I remember back when I was about 20 I started wearing glasses for shortsightedness and the glasses that I wore made me look very intelligent and I think just how I looked intimidated some people. Remember a time while on holidays some people camped near us joined us for some beers and one my friends told me that when I went off to the toilet one of them asked if I was some kind of a genius. I’m just an electrician but I can remember a time when I worked in a large factory of a large corporation when I started talking about something technical a mechanical engineer who was near by came over to hear what I had to say which was not anything profound, I’m sure it was just because of how I looked. Years later I warned that same engineer why one of his designs would not work but he didn’t believe me until after it was built followed by a week of frustration I tried again and succeeded in explaining what the problem was and then he asked me what the solution was and I was able to tell him and it worked. He started coming to me for solutions to other mechanical problems after that as well and I was always able to come up with a practical solution.

I am an INTJ to the fullest but, I am TRYING TO BECOME MORE OPEN and "friendly".. But that shyt not working...i think it's because other people don't have the willpower and or grit. Knowledge to and/or just being overly sensitive.

    • @SuccessForBreakfast
      @SuccessForBreakfast  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

That sounds like a massive step in the right direction, for sure! It seems like you know some of the things you need to work toward bettering and putting it into action... It's super impressive.
Things like that take time, especially since you're stepping out of your comfort zone. Stick with it. You've got this.
Yes, the overly sensitive ones will challenge you 🤣

Problem is in my opinion is clear "people never say what they mean or mean what they say" people they speak of truth while lying like speaking of wishing without a plan or apply what they say ...trouble not with intj's trouble people hate logic and logic is only united language to communicate... So must they apologize because they don't lie or because they know about what they speak about ? It's like we must be liars and stupid so others can be happy? What do you think from a scientific psychology and philosophy way? "Exclude the mbti stuff"
