I grew up Assembly of God but I never had a problem with someone being baptized in The name of Jesus nor did I ever have a problem with being baptized in The Name Of The Father, Son and Holy Ghost. I am now part of an independent Charismatic church. I believe that the unnecessary wound between the Apostolic Churches and the Assembly of God needs to be healed. Jesus prayed that we would be one .
I hope I am not alone in this.
I hope that though there are differences in interpretation of the scriptures on many issues that people in both groups can love and fellowship and play in the sandbox together. I consider Oneness Pentecostals to be my brothers and sisters in Christ and hope that most of them would feel the same about me. If not I still love all the brethren which is required to pass from death to life.

      In response to your comment:
The problem is that Oneness baptize in the name of Jesus to deny the Father and Holy Spirit or to imply that the Father and the Holy Spirit are supposedly Jesus, this being false. If the apostles baptized in the name or authority of Jesus, it was not with the same intention that Oneness do today because they didn't teach that Jesus was the Father or the Son or the Holy Spirit, if so they would not have made any distinction through the Bible. Everything would have been written only Jesus from Matthew through Revelation, without mentioning the Father or the Holy Spirit and that is not the case.
      God Bless You!

"when did the Babtismal Formula Changed?"
Mathew 28:19 is a verse that was altered by the RCC
Not even one in the bible that was babtized in the Name of the Father , and of the Son of the Holy spirit.
And there is 9 witness in the bible that was babtized in Jesus name both in Spirit and Water.
Either way, Mathew 28:19 says NAME singular not Names, Titles are not Names. We don't deny anyone.
Following the Literal formula of Mathew 28:19 is discarding the Acts 2:38 however following Acts 2:38 is fulfilling the Mathew 28:19.

Oneness Pentecostalism (also known as Apostolic, Jesus' Name Pentecostalism, or Jesus Only movement) is a movement within the Protestant Christian family of churches known as Pentecostalism. It derives its distinctive name from its teaching on the Godhead, which is popularly referred to as the "Oneness doctrine," or MODALISM. This doctrine states that there is one God, a singular divine Spirit, who manifests himself in many ways, including as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Oneness theologian Dr. DAVID BERNARD indicates that MODALISTIC MONARCHISM and ONENESS ARE ESSENTIALLY THE SAME, and that Sabellius was basically correct.
Daniel, oneness say that other Christians follow the doctrines of the Catholics but they forget that their doctrine also comes from Catholics, particularly from a Catholic priest named Sabellius of the third century.
Sabellius taught that God was single and indivisible, with Father, Son, and Holy Spirit being THREE MODES or manifestations of one divine Person.
In other words Oneness and Dr. David Bernard (the general superintendent of the United Pentecostal Church International, the largest Oneness Pentecostal organization with constituents) believe and teach three modes.
I suggest that you study your own Oneness modalism dogma since it seems that I have more of an understanding of your theology than you do!
The Council of Nicaea was the first council in the history of the Christian church that was intended to address the entire body of believers. It was convened by the emperor Constantine to resolve the controversy of Arianism, a doctrine that held that Christ was not divine but was a created being. Arianism (Jehovah Witness) is often considered to be a form of Unitarian theology in that it stresses God’s unity at the expense of the notion of the Trinity, the doctrine that three distinct persons are united in one Godhead. Arius’s basic premise was the uniqueness of God, who is alone self-existent (not dependent for its existence on anything else) and immutable; the Son, who is not self-existent, cannot therefore be the self-existent and immutable God. Because the Godhead is unique, it cannot be shared or communicated. Because the Godhead is immutable, the Son, who is mutable, must, therefore, be deemed a creature who has been called into existence out of nothing and has had a beginning. Moreover, the Son can have no direct knowledge of the Father, since the Son is finite and of a different order of existence.
According to its opponents, especially the bishop St. Athanasius, Arius’s teaching reduced the Son to a demigod, reintroduced polytheism (since worship of the Son was not abandoned), and undermined the Christian concept of redemption, since only he who was truly God could be deemed to have reconciled humanity to the Godhead.
In 325 the Council of Nicaea was convened to settle the controversy. The council condemned Arius as a heretic and issued a creed to safeguard “orthodox” Christian belief. The creed states that the Son is homoousion tō Patri (“of one substance with the Father”), thus declaring him to be all that the Father is: he is completely divine. In fact, however, this was only the beginning of a long-protracted dispute. The same thing happens today between the Oneness and the Trinitarians.
Daniel do you know that oneness are TRINITARIANS?
Trinitarians believe in One God THREE PERSONS, or Trinity of Persons.
Oneness believe in One God three modes, or Trinity of modes/manifestatios
      God Bless!

Giving your life to Jesus is more than just saying a prayer of repentance. The Word of God says in the book John. Chapter 3 that we must be born again of The Water in The Spirit which means you MUST be baptized IN THE NAME OF JESUS not in the titles father son holy spirit but IN THE NAME OF JESUS and FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT with THE EVIDENCE of speaking in other TONGUES
‭‭Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, EXCEPT a man BE BORN AGAIN, he CANNOT see THE KINGDOM of GOD. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, EXCEPT a MAN BE BORN OF WATER AND of THE SPIRIT, he CANNOT ENTER into THE KINGDOM of GOD. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, YE MUST BE BORN AGAIN.
      John 3:3-7 KJV
How do people get born again of the Water and of the Spirit Acts 2:37-39
Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and SAID unto PETER and to the rest of THE APOSTLES, Men and brethren, WHAT SHALL WE DO? Then Peter said unto them, REPENT, and BE BAPTIZED EVERY ONE OF YOU in THE NAME of JESUS CHRIST for the remission of sins, and YE SHALL RECEIVE the GIFT of the HOLY GHOST. For the PROMISE is unto YOU, and to YOUR CHILDREN, and TO ALL that are AFAR OFF, even as MANY as the Lord our God SHALL call.

well the assemblies of God have it right in that statement that the baptism of the holy spirit is not essential for salvation.
I am a oneness pentecostal and that belief has crept in as a Pentecostal tradition, the apostles didn't believe in that nor do i.
Mark 16:16 says "Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned."
if you are baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and live a holy life you shall be saved.

    • @yo-nq8vm
      @yo-nq8vm 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Andrew Gonzalez it is in the Bible sir.
Mark 16:16 is a great verse, but it doesn’t stand alone. That one verse is not the fullness of truth. There is much more text to consider.
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water AND of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
      John 3:5
For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
      Acts 1:5
Shall is a promise, it WILL happen.
I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire.
      Matthew 3:11
      Again there is the SHALL
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
      Acts 2:38
      Another SHALL. It’s a promise.
He said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" And they said to him, "No, we have not even heard whether there is a Holy Spirit."
      Acts 19:2

Andrew you have to take the whole counsel of Scripture, not just pick what you like. God makes the Rules, not you or me. John the Baptist spoke the words that go against your comment. Jesus will baptize you with fire. That is baptism in the Holy Ghost, that is receiving Christ in you, if one doesn't have that, they don't have Jesus. Tongues is the evidence.

Thanks for the video. From 1985 to 1995 I attended a Trinitarian Pentecostal Fellowship. Since 1999 I have not been Trinitarian. You mentioned in a video the 32 page doctrinal supplement insert that is in the Thompson Chain-Reference bible sold by Pentecostal Publishing House. Is that doctrinal supplement sold separately? I have read books by David K Bernard on the Oneness of God and on Church History, but that doctrinal supplement would be good for me to go through. My adult background is Pentecostal Holiness, but it is Wesleyan Holiness with Pentecostal distinctives. I'd really like to purchase that doctrinal supplement, but I recently bought a KJV Thompson Chain-Reference Bible again, so I just need the supplement.

I remember her saying that we had to mind our peas and cues once we go to heaven because if we mess up we will get kicked out of heaven and get sent straight to hell.
And being so young that really scared me. I believed it and that really bothered me for years !!! I was under the impression that I was going to struggle once I got to heaven and had to try to be perfect otherwise I would really go to hell. Now we know that's not true.. In heaven we will be incapable of "messing up". But that really saturated my mind for along time. Even until adulthood..

The Assemblies of God, The United Pentecostal Church, & The Church of God of Prophecy are all Christian. Rather than trying to point out MINOR differences, why not point out that we are ALL Christians trying to overcome the pulls of this wicked world and make it to the promised land. I grew up in a family and extended family that was predominantly of the Pentecostal faith. I have family in all 3 of the Christian churches and when I was growing up we sometimes visited each. We ALWAYS considered ourselves Christian and never attempted to find fault with one another over various understanding of scripture.

I attend a Assembly of God and we are more modest and also.......I do not watch TV and lots home school. We are HUGE on water baptism so I am not sure what you mean about the baptism. We say it is very important, and always the focus is on HOLY SPIRIT!!!!! I am thankful we have an old fashion pastor , we believe in baptism by water and holy spirit. I am not sure where you heard that. The church I went to first was baptist, then went to a AOG for 18 years as that church also 100% Water baptism and baptism in the holy Ghost/spirit. I have now been at another AOG for the last 4 years and once again very much believe in both. My children all got baptized on her own choice when they were ready but the church taught how important it was and we ALWAYS celebrated baptism it is a big part of our Church. In fact we are having one this coming Sunday. and have monthly classes for baptism and you only go to one before you get baptized but its to show you how important it is and the REAL reason you are doing it. I even got re baptized not because they told me I should or anything but the holy spirit was stirring it in me because the first time was just to join that baptist church. I KNEW NOTHING except I had to do this to join. I was 27 but then a few years ago I really felt the need to do it for the right reasons. I was just for me and they baptised me because I had fallen away a few years after my mom died. I mean really fell away, I NEEDED to do it! I am so thankful I did. God bless you and I am sad to know that other AOG churches believe differently than that. Water baptism is scriptural, if our LORD and savior did it we also should not think we are above our master. @@delilaht1393 "and" does not mean a separate person. In the Greek the word "kai" was used, which can be translated as "and" or "even" or "that is". The teaching of the trinity didn't come into the Church until the 4th century. Our English translation came much later. Most likely the translators favored what would fit with trinitarian thought. It doesn't mean they purposely tried to deceive. 1 Timothy 3:16, KJV: "And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory." ... He was seen by angels and announced to the nations. The word "Godhead" doesn't speak of more than one person. It simply means God's fulness.
Jude 25 King James Version (KJV)25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. The Greek on this would say To the only God our savior who alone is wise be glory.

David said in the Spirit, the LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. 2 persons of the trinity. AND then Jesus said, for my Father is greater than I. How can a single person be greater than himself??
AND, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God... Clearly Jesus is speaking of someone other than himself. So on and so forth, many examples. AND of course the Spirit of the Lord is spoken of a million times over in the bible. That's three. AND, Matt 3:16-17 And Jesus (1), when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit (2) of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
And lo a voice from heaven (3), saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
AND that's 3 all in one place at the same time. Three persons of the Godhead in perfect unity.

@@123tominator007 I just wanted to mention that Jesus baptism doesn't prove he is separate from God the Father. It just shows that God can be everywhere and anywhere at once (omnipresent). He can be many forms at one time. And when he said greater is God, he very well could be saying that by making himself flesh, his spirit outside of him (omnipresent in all the world and beyond) is more powerful than what he limited himself to have in his earthly body. We must remember Jesus is fully God and fully human. Born of the spirit and born of a wan (to be under the law of God...to be as a servant to God (though he is God) so that we have a perfect example to live by.

Neither of them practiced or taught grace back then. I’m much more devout in my faith now, certainly much more studious. I believe the Word of God says exactly what it means! But I don’t know about now, but when I was growing up, they were both very legalistic! It was as though, if you messed up you had lost your salvation. If my child messes up I’m not going to disinherit him, neither does God! I got married right out of high school, was married for 9 months. I was expected to remain celibate for the rest of my life ! Have you received the Holy Ghost since you believed? That's talking about the Holy Ghost as the Spirit baptism, not for salvation. They had been baptised by John's baptism, which was a baptism for repentance. They then laid hands upon them and they received the baptism in the Holy Ghost. We understand that on the day Jesus was raised from the dead, the disciples were born again by the Holy Spirit as Jesus breathed upon them and said, "Receive ye the Holy Ghost.". They were therefore born again after the New Testament model. He walked with them and showed Himself alive by many infallible proofs, yet when He ascended into heaven, He told them to tarry in Jerusalem until they received the Promise of the Father, the baptism in the Holy Spirit after Joel 2's prophecy. So we see here two distinct episodes. One for salvation. The other for empowerment for ministry. Incidentally, Jesus Himself was conceived by the Holy Spirit and was at no time without the Holy Spirit. Yet at HIS baptism, the Holy Spirit came upon Him to begin His earthly ministry. He did not talk in tongues because He always prayed perfectly to the Father. We are the ones who need help in our natural limitations in that regard.

There are many Trinitarians that don’t speak in tongues, most actually. Mostly you find tongues in Pentecostal or Charasmatic churches. But most don’t read 2 Corinthians 14 about order in the church. This concerns how much/many messages should be permitted. It actually says 1 or 2 no more than 3 messages in tongues or people will think you’re mad! That if you feel like you have a message in tongues but you discern or recognize there is no interpreter available you are to bridle your tongue! Paul said that he would rather you speak in a language that everyone understands, it’s more profitable for the entire church. Most Pentecostals don’t recognize this and the Baptist don’t go there at all! It’s a cultural thing. People do what they’ve been seeing as they come up, what they presume to be spiritual. Usually it’s just what we used to call flesh or carnal. I left the Pentecostals because I started reading what scripture actually says. I had seen so many abuses in the name of the Holy Spirit which was simply someone acting out because they desired to appear spiritual. Kind of like the Pharisee praying on the street corner in Matthew 6. Modalist, Apostolics believe that if you don’t speak in tongues you’re not saved. The Assemblies teach that Baptism of the Holy Spirit is usually another step of sanctification after salvation, which is by the way correct according to scripture.

There are many trinitarian pentecostals that do have the Holy Spirit.Recieving the Holy Spirit occurs during the baptism of the Holy Spirit. It's the overflowing baptism that causes the Spirit to join with the believers spirit and remain in them. The scriptures refer to it as " the anointing that abideth".The trinitarian pentecosts have obeyed the gospel by repenting and being baptized in water. They know that God gives the Holy Spirit to those that " obey" and " ask". So they ask and await God to fill them with His Spirit. When they are aware that He is, they yield their tongue to the Spirit so that the overflowing baptism can occur. As a result they speak in the heavenly language.( tongues) and are " born of the Spirit".The only problem is that God commands us to do things that He commands just as He commands them to be done because of the spiritual ramifications. The name of Jesus Christ called over those being baptized is what gives it authenticity.Image christians trying to cast out demons in the name of the Father, and of the son, and of the Holy Spirit?Water baptism removes guilt for past sins by circumcising the conscience returning it to its' childlike sensitivity to sin.At the same time it prepares our body for future bodily resurrection.Scripturally they haven't been " born of the water" according to John ch.3.It is Gods' decision on how He will deal with them.

And again, Abraham believed God and it was imputed onto him for righteousness. When you are saved you ARE born of the Spirit. Think about it, it is impossible to believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that he was born of a virgin, died, was resurrected and sits at the right hand of the Father and that Jesus is Lord, except you have the Spirit of God dwelling in you. The baptism of the Holy Ghost is a gift, it is power, power to be witnesses unto Jesus. Jesus is the Savior.

. Robert, dressing modestly is commanded. Yet consider how they dress. They compensate for not wearing makeup by telling the boys they are wild by wearing zebra and tiger tripe clothing and enough hair spray to eliviate the burden of shame facedness. As far as speaking in tongues goes, if there is no interpreter then let him keep silent and keep it to himself. Otherwise he is edifying no one, a barbarian, and only seeking to show his self righteousness. Hypocrite. Also, that dtess code is not all inclusive. On a contruction site in 100 degree weather it is not a sin to take your shirt off. David danced naked before the Lord, Peter was "naked" to an extent while fishing when Jesus called from the shore, and King Saul striped off his clothes publicly and prophecied before Sam

@@josephjones4207 its a good thing to struggle with because it is not true. One God eternally existing in three persons. He said the Son did not preexist before the incarnation. That is a heretical belief across all Christian denominations. I do believe oneness Christians are saved, but they have a faulty understanding of the godhead. AoG is a solid pentecostal fellowship.

16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. 17For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. 18He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. 20For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.”

Assemblies of God, apostolics, baptists, SDA's, Methodists, all of these denominations spread across the globe were born in the USA, I bet the apostles or churches in bible times were not part of those denominations. The church was born in Israel.

To be Apostolic is to believe that Jesus built the church on the foundation of the apostles (Eph 2:20). The great commission was given to a select set of men ( He didn't invite the 120 that would be in the upper room, only his handpicked ones), the Apostles, who would then bring it to the masses. Peter was given the keys(Matt 16:19) to open the door to first the Jews (Acts 2), Samaritans (Acts 8) and then the Gentiles (Acts 10). This was a order from Jesus himself (Acts 1:8). The first book in the bible would not be written for decades so they continued in the Apostles doctrine, whos doctrine? the Apostle's (Acts 2:42). So the apostles were the only ones who could tell you how to be saved, it is not open to us to try and figure out what Jesus meant, that is why the foundation of the church is the Apostles doctrine, this is also why the office of the Apostle ended with the death of the 12. Many want to read Matt 28:19 and say that Matt did it differently, but this is also false as it says that Peter (the one with the keys) stood with the eleven (that includes Matthew) and preached that repentance and remission of sin has to be in the name of Jesus (Acts 2:38). This is the only pattern for salvation that is used in the bible. Acts 2:38 is also a direct fulfilment of Jesus's command to them (Luke 24: 45-49) its word for word. I could keep going here and prove without any doubt that you have to obey the words of the men that Jesus is naming the 12 levels of heaven after, But if you want to go in through another gate and take your chances....I hope that works out for you...…..if you have any questions, please email me....

Matthew 28:19 involving water baptism has been proven not to be in the earliest manuscripts of the New testament. If baptism in the name of Jesus Christ isn't the correct way to baptize why didn't Matthew correct Peter in Acts ch.2 when he told the people that it was bart of being saved? He was standing right there with him.Does that really make since to you that all the apostles and Paul disobeyed Jesus command on how to baptize people?

I've noticed in contemporary churches (AoG and others) the tendency to preach and teach far more from the Old Testament than New. I hardly ever hear the gospel message or words of Jesus. There's also a whole lot of Israel loving going on, even as they practice apartheid against Palestinians, who's land they stole. And pastors getting far more excited about football than the gospel.

The Holy Spirit, in the New testament, is identified as the ," Spirit of God", and the ,"Spirit of Christ".It is interesting that because we know that the Spirit of God cannot die, Christ did die and in our western way of though, a ghost is the spirit of someone that has died.
