    I love this.♥️❤️🌹 Yellow split peas, coconut milk, garlic, onion, thyme, as salt, tumeric, scotch bonnet/ wiri wire peppers and rice. Recently I found that adding smoked mackerel from Tesco is delicious. ❤️♥️🌹then fry some garlic and whole cumin seeds and throw on top after cooking. Yummy.

    I love mixed rice dishes, this one in particular. However every time I make it comes out not grainy but the other form😩. Going to follow the exact steps to see if I get it like yours

    • @JennaGTheHijabiTT
      @JennaGTheHijabiTT  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The amount of liquid added will determine how grainy it comes out… don’t add a lot at a time

    Please let the rice and seasoning saute for a while, then put in the peas, saute for a few seconds then put the water and coconut milk, .and mix properly, then cover and put the fire very very slow...do not stir constantly because that makes the dish to soggy. Its supposed to be light, fluffy and grainy..

    • @JennaGTheHijabiTT
      @JennaGTheHijabiTT  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for sharing... believe it or not thought I don’t like grainy rice at all... so for me this has to be ‘wet’ rather than grainy

      Different parts of the world has different names for the same thing! This is Trinidadian cooking and it’s an ingredient that was passed down by that name. No need to nit pick the video ingredient here with your negative comment, trying to sound smart. Since you know the spices correct name, please link us with your video since you have time to comment. Caribbean people know what “saffron” is!

    • @Bush05055
      @Bush05055 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also the name on the video is clearly labeled “Trinidad cooking/ Caribbean “ so with your international bs… keep it to your part off the world…
