    I learned so much today...I left Trini at a young age, and although I stick close to my Trini roots some of the terms or cooking methods I don’t know. When he said “dhal in 2020!!!!!!” I felt that!! I was weak LOL LOL ..love this channel! Awesome job!

    Oh guuud!! lol - that was the best. Having some Peruvians for dinner tonight, and they have never eaten the food of the Gods - ROTI! So that's the menu, but while I usually just make curried pumpkin to go with the roti, tonight adding some of this delicious looking dhal! Going to be reaaaal homesick after, but I will deal! Thank you. PS - One question please. I buy curry leaves on Amazon for when I am making East Indian dishes, not Trini curry, are those the same as the curry leaves you are using?

  • @unclelink

    Here's a different perspective on split peas in your meals: I think split peas should be more considered a carb source rather than a protein source. Have split peas replace the rice or pasta in our meals. We always talk about peas being a good source of protein for vegetarians but proportionally they contain more carbs (more dietary fibre too). For meat eaters the extra protein is good, it can make the meal more satiating. Split pea is a super duper food, we should be eating it everyday.

  • @shannonlewis6282
    @shannonlewis6282 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    What about using the pressure pot to soften the peas in the event you want to cook it right away. Is that recommended?

    You can see that Kezzi is not accustomed to chunkaying dhal. Lol. You have to throw the oil into the dhal and put the pot cover on *very fast* to seal in the flavours.
