      They should also remove Kmail and Korganiser as Thunderbird is included, they could also replace Konqueror with Dolphin as Chrome is there for web browsing

    This distro is really nice for old stuff. Installed this on a netbook I had laying around. Atom processors are crap. This runs really well though. Considering you can go back to a x386 and run this well is impressive. Just letting you know, have a wonderful day. :)
    Update: Updated the x86 version.

      The 32bit version runs nicely on my Acer Aspire One AOA150 with 1Gb of ram. Not super fast but more snappy than I expected. Great OS for a daily driver.

  • @RedneckHillbillyGnR
    @RedneckHillbillyGnR ปีที่แล้ว

    I have played with Q4OS and Sparkylinux on an old Acer Aspire One AOA150 32bit architecture that I bought for $5 at the thrift store to set up a little laptop for my ham radio room and I decided that Q4OS is the best one to use for what I want to do with it. My other Acer AOA150 that I bought new years ago still has Winblows XP for the times I unfortunately must use it and I dual boot with Linux Mint 18 and it runs pretty well with Mint. Both are only 1Gb of memory. I have ran Linux since I fell completely out of love for Winblows in the late 90s and I will never go back to Winblows on purpose. I have used Puppy Linux for years but I have never really liked how it works as far as upgrading and installing programs and so on. It runs beautifully and extremely fast but it just feels like it's a constant project, whereas Q4OS feels like a pretty well put together and polished hot rod. And I love the option to install Synaptic Package Manager for even more access to the Debian software repositories. I think Sparky might be a little faster but it has problems with trying to install anything from Synaptic and gives errors that I don't feel like sorting out when I can just put Q4OS on and go to town. I would love to see if I can get some memory and upgrade these little netbooks and also install some SSD hard drives and really speed these up! I think anyone who tries Q4OS is in for a big surprise. Seems like a very nice flavor of Linux and especially for the older 32bit architecture.

I was so impressed by this distro that i installed it on a ASUS Eeepc Intel Atom 1.6 GHz 2 GB RAM and now i have a good notebook to take on a travel using it to work, surf the web and even to play a bit of Counter Strike 1.6 on Steam :)

    The Very minimal desktop look great for my use. I system with just a web browser for use inside Virtualbox network. Q4OS is also very Virtualbox aware, with a built-in installer for their customized Virtualbox Guest additions. I have not explored this fully due to hardware issues. I plan on doing alot of work with VMs and this lightweight option may come in handy. The X86 version may keep alive some old XP era systems I have. One I may set up as a file server, for backups and boot disk creation. I only used Q4Os briefly, but I look forward to using it again thanks for the review. Thanks

    Nippy distro that brings ageing computers back to life. One thing however is that I can't figure out how to edit the programs menu. For example, how do I create a folder for card games and move them into it? According the repo list, kmenu is installed, but it doesn't appear anywhere in the menu, even when I search for it.

    32 bit Centaurus Q4OS works with Trinity really well on my 18-year-old T23 Thinkpad. With Firefox ESR as the main browser, virtually all websites run excellently despite the prehistoric Pentium III processor and meagre 1GB RAM. Only TH-cam really struggles, not entirely surprisingly.

    It seems that atrocious scrollbars are imposed even on "classic" desktops...
    How is it legal for them to include good old Tahoma font in the distribution? Tahoma is not among fonts released in msttcorefonts. Nonetheless I must say, I love it.

  • @Doing_Time
    @Doing_Time 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have this version installed on a USB3.1 stick. I'm getting 196mb ram use on a clean boot and never over 400mb with the usual office apps running (I get similar memory use from PCLinuxOS TDE Community, which is a much more bloated/feature-rich distribution). Of course if I open a bunch of browser tabs or run some virtual machines, I can run the memory use up to several GBs in a hurry. This latest update is the most stable Q4OS I've seen yet, but I'm very disturbed that the Q4OS v4 line comes with Plasma by default.

    I installed it on my laptop a couple of days ago, and I had a problem (This laptop just doesn't want linux, have installed many distros and had problems), after the first reboot, the login screen just doesn't appear and it just appears a command line asking me for my username and my password.
    I write them in, and then it doesn't login to the UI, it just stays there, and the commands appear as I logged in, I'm sure it is a problem of y laptop, but I don't think that that is supposed to happen.
