    The font selection and rendering looks particularly clean in Zorin.

      Yep, the font is Inter. It's very similar to SF Pro, except Inter is FOSS. I use it on every distro I install since it's so clean.

    • @AdamWrighter
      @AdamWrighter 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Abu the last time I tried KDE (a year or 2 ago, maybe) the "fractional scaling" was really just a strange combo of text size adjustment and *some* UI elements being scaled up. but its support across apps was really patchy. firefox wasn't scaled at all, for example (and setting default page zoom is not a good workaround for me)

    Icons not being centered with respect to display in xfce panel is an xfce problem. Don't know why no devs care to fix it. The items just get centered within the available free space in the panel and there's no way to center items with respect to the whole length of the panel.

    It is beautiful but it uses kernel 5.13... I own ryzen cpu which benefits a lot from kernel 5.17 soo good distro for Intel users?, too bad that team decided to base it on Ubuntu :/ If it was based on rpm/dnf distro e.g. Fedora it would be my one and only choice of os.

      you can manually upgrade your kernel. If you can boot atleast then you should be good. Im using latest Zen kernel. Pretty straight forward easy installation. No problems so far. Ofc i have just 3600 or you could compile yourself the iso and just make it that it installs latest kernel scratch.

    I'm stunned by this Zorin distro. I don't use Linux because of Photoshop, Adobe XD and Illustrator but wow you can see that a good UI designer put time to design this.
    Ubuntu and Zorin are beautiful but lots of Linux fanatics hate them because they are "selling themselves" whatever that means. I feel like 90% of Linux community doesn't want Linux to look professional and aesthetically pleasing to attract windows users. They enjoy if average user finds Linux too hard for daily use which is really weird.

    • @diddymies
      @diddymies 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      40$ is pretty much for a community which is based on free development especially when the whole zorin 16 can be easily tecreate because its based on free packages. But if you want use Adobe photoshop, you can run older version with wine or if u want latest you could run in VM. Vm could be good to keep files safe and yout system clean to keep VM files seperate. Also dual booting is a option.

    Hey there unfortunately, i need to leave this comment, in the past one week i was so confident, that i`ll change the windows to some of the new linux based system that you cannot imagine, don`t get me wrong, i`m trying to do that since ubuntu was 6.04(i have basic knowledge), you can do the math, so in the past week i have tried zorin, fedora, pop os, ubuntu and kubuntu, all of them with the latest versions. and i had a similar problem bluetooth and VPN, i have keychorn k2, keyboard that is working flawless in windows, specially ON THE LOGIN SCREEN, if you want to do that you need to do research on the internet how to do that, hey it`s a asus dongle, it`s not just some dongle, dongle which is working with bluetooth 5.0 and with which i can use the keyboard and my mouse at the same time, in the distributions that i tried, for example zorin i didn`t even had a chance with the default installed bluetooth package to detect the keyboard neither the mouse. So tried to some different option and at least i managed to connect the keyboard, but then come the second problem enabling bluetooth on login screen so i can type my password, but i didn`t manage to do that here he vpn was ok, in the other distros i was able to connect both. but either keyboard or mouse was not working ok, in some of the them the network-manager (the default) was not capable to established connection via VPN, yes with some adjustment in all of them i was able to make it work. And now imaginе someone without this basic knowledge, i`m not trying to be a hater or something like that, i`ll be really happy someday to move into this world, but every time that i want to migrate everything to "linux" there are these small obstacles, the will take your time instead of doing something that you want to do. But since the last stable version of ubuntu 18.04 i still have it on my latop i see l lot`s of improvement, specially for zorin i really like it but like i said with this things i cannot spend hours to search something that is already working. Anyhow keep going with the work you do, i thing we will have something great in the next years, or why not with next stable release after one month :) CHeers

    Zorin is a great OS especially for those moving from Windows. Clean, polished and works well. I wish companies and software writers to just leave their politics behind supporting the current thing and get on with being productive. There are always 2 sides to the story and as per usual with the entire middle east saga the US and NATO are at fault and 2 blame for what's going on currently. The old saying now, "Go Woke, Go Broke"!
