    Not a “Honda guy” but this is rad. Anything short of the Type R is slept on anymore so to have a 1.5T sleeper like this is pretty sick. And 7800rpm redline? That’s gotta be fun!

    • @singular9
      @singular9 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      This is why if you see any civic/accord turbo that has ANY hint of mods (wheels, jdm badges, etc) its probably tuned past factory by a lot. I know my accord looks barely OEM+ but with a ktuner stage 2 with ZERO mods it can gain up to 80lbft down low with well over 300hp top end.

  • @atflores85
    @atflores85 ปีที่แล้ว +50

    Ill start by saying this is a really cool build. Eman is a pioneer in the 10th gen civic space. You can tell this car wasn't built to be a track car. Its built for when a stock scatpack comes next to him on the highway. Also, what Eman didn't mention is that the original motor / setup was probably seeing close to 300lb/ft of trq with the e30 tune. All that low end torque on the stock rods turned them into spaghetti noodles. Plenty of us 1.5t guys have been running this setup for years now without catastrophic failure. Its all about managing that torque curve with proper tuning. It took setups like this to figure that out though. Thanks for blowing you motor up to save mine. Cheers!

    • @k20z3allmotorFTW
      @k20z3allmotorFTW ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes very valid and well put point. The tq on the stock small turbos kills these engines fast with mods and ethanol

    • @respecttheprocess1983
      @respecttheprocess1983 ปีที่แล้ว

      Facts, but I still managed to blow my motor up during the pandemic, so I had to wait almost two years to get all the parts to complete my FC3 street & track build. Don't forget about our transmissions; once you get to about 350 to 400lb/ft with an upgraded clutch, your stock transmission is toast, starting from the 1st to the 4th, somehow leaving the 3rd, 5th, and 6th gear untouched.

  • @spoopithys
    @spoopithys ปีที่แล้ว +74

    RE: the rods - it's actually all 1.5t except the hatch that have the stronger Si rods (at least in the US). Base model sedan and coupe have the L15B7 which has Si rods, hatch is built in Swindon UK and has the L15BA with weaker rods. I guess it's a supply chain thing.

    • @k20z3allmotorFTW

      We're in the same boat lol. 18 Fiesta ST, and knowing what guys are doing with our little 1.6s, this whole process sounds insane. I know plenty of guys with plenty of miles of 300-350whp Fiestas on an unopened engine, just big turbo, port injection, E85 and some supporting mods that are essentially just stage 2/3 bolt ons. And the Fiestas handle so well stock, and especially with just upgraded struts and springs. I think we made the right choice, even if they are ford products 😂

Was that a legit learning experience, or was he like, "well, we could do what you're asking, but you should upgrade the rods too." And then the customer was like, "Nope, lets see how it goes with the stock ones?" I guess my dream build would be a 2017 Accord with Type R shifter and 300-ish hp. Wonder how much that would cost?

    I'm also curious about torque figures... 🤔

    • @Senioritis012
      @Senioritis012 ปีที่แล้ว

      The L15 is very undersquare, and usually makes more torque than HP. The torque is limited when tuning to protect the tiny rods and pistons.350+ tq is easy with a bigger turbo

    • @Xenstein
