I agree it’s the best one ever made but I also agree for this day and age it coulda been way better in a lot of aspects such as power plant, gearing, optional free summer tires etc. I mean there is no justifying the price tag of 28k for 200 HP out of a 1.5 Thats getting at best 0-60 in the 7 seconds and quarter mile in the 15s. I know 0-60 and 1/4 isn’t everything but when paying nearly 30k for a car that’s advertised as a daily performance sedan, it just doesn’t sit right.
Have last years hatch Sport and absolutely love it. We are so lucky to still have companies that target car people (who don't have 100k to drop at a moments notice) in 2021.
I commented on this video when it came out a couple years ago. I said then that I was considering replacing my ND1 Miata with the new Si. I did not do that. I bought an like-new CPO Mercedes-Benz C300 (W206), then traded that in for a new Civic Sport Touring Hatchback with 6-speed manual transmission. It was a great car, but the driving dynamics are not actually very sporty, plus I really wanted a little more power (but without installing a warranty-voiding tune). A few months ago I traded the hatchback for a new 2025 Si, and I love it. (By the way, I know all these trades in just a couple years seems crazy, but I had my reasons.) While I lost some nice features from the Civic Sport Touring trim - a couple of which I really miss - the Si is a much better driver's car. It handles well, looks sporty, is genuinely fun to daily drive, and still gets outstanding fuel economy. With the rear seats up on both, there's actually more cargo room in the trunk of the sedan vs. the hatchback, because the sedan is longer behind the rear wheels, so like Thomas and James said in the video, it's a practical car, too. With the updates for 2025, the Si is an even nicer car than it was a couple years ago, since the US model finally got heated seats and a full digital gauge cluster. (I also like the new wheels better.) But the biggest thing for me is that driving is fun again. I'm planning to keep this car a while! I should mention that I came close to buying a new GR86 Premium a couple times this past summer and early fall. I really liked the car, but three things kept me from buying one: 1. Harsher ride in the GR86. It's a little too harsh for my mid-50s body. Younger me would have been fine with it, but not now. The Si's ride is firm but not harsh, and it's improved, too, since Honda retuned the suspension for 2025. For me, the Si's ride is just right. 2. Fuel economy. I'm on track to drive 24k miles per year, and I just couldn't stomach getting 25-26 mpg in the GR, especially given you have to use premium unleaded. The Si gets mid-30s and while the minimum recommended octane is 91, in a pinch you can use 87. (I don't; I always use 91 or higher.) While I love the NA engine and the additional power in the GR, it just wasn't worth the trade-off in fuel economy/higher expense for me. 3. Loud cabin and crappy sounding stereo in the GR86. These aren't luxury cars, but the amount of cabin noise in the GR86 is bothersome. And you can't drown it out with a great sounding stereo system, because the stock system stinks. You can upgrade it, but it's not cheap. The Si isn't exactly quiet, but it's much better in my opinion, and the stock Bose system sounds pretty good. Not great, but good for the price point. I'll also say the Civic has a nice interior for its price point. I think only Mazda is better in this class. The GR/BRZ not so much. The seats are great, but most of the interior looks and feels cheap, plus the infotainment system is just okay. I still would love to have a GR86, and I even considered buying a new ND3 Miata, but the refreshed Civic Si was really the best choice for me to meet my wants and needs for the next few years or more, plus it fit my budget for a new car better than any other model I considered.
@@InsaneBimmer I’ve had the car for a few years. I was thinking about doing the intake exhaust and tune. What mods did you have and how did it feel afterwards?
@@Scypher0thlol because it's not an accord. It drives and handles different than an accord and has a manual transmission and limited slip dif which the accord doesn't have. That could be few reasons why someone would want it.
If this specific version was released in the US, I would've already made my choice of next vehicle, especially with Hondata debunking the power loss. I guess Honda is really banking on the new Integra to win over younger enthusiasts (others have said it and I agree, all the missing features will most likely show up in that car when it arrives). For now, the Jetta GLI will remain at the top of my list for next car.
Just from exterior aesthetics POV I feel like this looks a little better than the upcoming Integra, which is a little awkward with it's hatch design. But I'm also sure they deconted the US Spec Si to not canabalize and promote the Integra as the "premium" option. If they had this spec here I'd likely get this as well. Wireless Android Auto but no wireless charger?!? Really? I still might consider this though as a nice fun daily.
Personally, the GLI is dogwater. Better off getting the golf R in a dsg or as the manual. Not to mention the audio you get with the gli is crappy beats than getting fender for the gti
I had actually decided on this car over the Elantra N or WRX. Sadly dealers in my area are charging $5k+ markup, which makes this car lose quite a bit of it's bang for the buck it had going for it. Had the same issue but worse with the Elantra. I ended up with a WRX since Subaru itself is cracking down on dealers charging anything more than MSRP. Is what it is I guess.

In 2017 the 10th gen Honda Civic Si’s msrp was only $24k USD. In 2023 the 11th gen Honda Civic Si’s msrp is now $27k USD. In Canada, their 11th gen with better tech costs effectively $26k USD when adjusted for exchange rate. 2023 Acura Integra Manual costs $35k usd
Overall great looking car. Love that it comes with a manual still. Interior is nice. Price is decent. What’s not to love? Still prefer the older generation si’s that have vtec and revs high but this is a very capable platform for performance.
@@Genesiscoupe3000 Funny seeing you talking from a genesis coupe 🤣 I used to gap y’all in my 10th gen Si and it wasn’t even close. Hard to take anyone serious who calls a car that’s faster then theirs slow.
There are a lot of positive things to be said about the new civics, but "great looking" is not on the list. Idk who is signing off on the designs coming out of honda, but they need to be fired. These things look absolutely horrific. Words can't even convey how horrible the type R looks.
looks is definitely subjective. Imo it looks bland at best. Think of a lukewarm almost stale milk and how excited you would be drinking it. That's how I think of the SI looks, again. Which is a shame, the tech and the interior deserve better. Strange how they can go from childish Type R to bland pensioner within a single model range, with nothing in between
The city is a great car...but not really up to what is expected from D segment sedans like the civic... platform wise- especially in the US and Canada where some by roads are larger than higways in Asian cities . With a bigger engine and some type R suspension tuning, it will be a hoot to drive but will fall flat in terms of highway ride which is what most Americans end up doing. The city as the namesake suggest was and is a sedan meant to be used in a properly crowded Asian city and not on north american highways.

To the people complaining that the us doesn’t get a bunch of stuff - they’re really two different cars. In Canada, the si is the top of the line civic, whereas we get the sport touring as the top of the line model.
It’s crazy how much less stuff we get in the USA. I was really looking forward to buying one. I guess I will have to wait a few years until Honda gives the Si all the options.
@@bustysubwaysandy9644 that's a great question. Considering the gauge cluster is fully digital on the Canadian SI, I'm assuming you can switch between MPH and KPH in the settings. Interesting you guys mentioned the Accord, as during your critique section I noticed how much the exterior actually reminded me of the early 90s Accords but in a almost retro-restyle guise. At least Honda came down from the last model's arguably gaudy styling.

Nice review. I had an ‘05 Civic Si, my 2nd favorite car I’ve owned after my current ND1 Miata. The new Si is one of the cars I’m considering for its replacement, along with the new GR86 or BRZ. But I might just wait to see the production version of the new Integra. I know many people hate it, but the Si drivetrain in a 4-door hatch - and an even nicer interior, plus likely getting the amenities we should have gotten on the US Si - really appeals to me. I’m also considering the Civic Sport Touring hatch w/6-speed manual, but really want the additional power of the Si. Can’t wait to drive all of these and see which I like best!
I just went from the 05 Si to the new Sport. It’s great in many ways but power is lacking. I really miss my Si and wish I’d have got the new Si. I opted for the hatch because I put bikes inside. However after putting on a hitch on with a rack the hatch is less important.

(By the way, I know all these trades in just a couple years seems crazy, but I had my reasons.)
While I lost some nice features from the Civic Sport Touring trim - a couple of which I really miss - the Si is a much better driver's car.
I really liked the car, but three things kept me from buying one:

Overall great looking car. Love that it comes with a manual still. Interior is nice. Price is decent. What’s not to love? Still prefer the older generation si’s that have vtec and revs high but this is a very capable platform for performance.
Mid 7 seconds 0-60 is what's not to love.

Strange how they can go from childish Type R to bland pensioner within a single model range, with nothing in between
Great looking car? 😀😀😀😀
10:21 this is kind of why I think the honda city needs to make it way to the states, along with an Si version.
Unfortunately our countrymen have killed the small car in America.
The Fit already died in North America. The City would be a flop unfortunately.
Immediately earned the thumbs up with that intro

To the people complaining that the us doesn’t get a bunch of stuff - they’re really two different cars. In Canada, the si is the top of the line civic, whereas we get the sport touring as the top of the line model.
It’s crazy how much less stuff we get in the USA. I was really looking forward to buying one. I guess I will have to wait a few years until Honda gives the Si all the options.
Or just buy Canadian 🤔

I just bought mine yesterday and I’m super stoked! It’s fun, practical, easy to live with and not that expensive.
