Had one last load to wash for our trip tomorrow and our washer decided to stop working after it filled with water . I’m glad these videos existed because I’m not about to take my clothes to a laundromat, pay someone to fix it or whatever. Thank you 🙏 so much for this video .

@@Appliancevideohi my GE washer fill up with water and the water just goes to the drum and out to the drain hose that attached to the water pump and out to the drain. 😙
I did test the pump is good. What actually prevent the water from going to the drain ? Is that a valve or switch. Thanks.

This video may be three years old, but it's still getting the job done! Turns out my washer had the exact same problem. Nine minutes to watch the video, one minute to find a screwdriver and tighten the lid screws. Total cost of repair: ten minutes of my time. You guys ROCK!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I am not mechanically inclined and my VERY mechanically inclined brothers are out of town. This was perfect, down to the black thing moving back and forth because it did not "click" once I put that white thing back in. Did the side screws, still no click, but I reinserted the entire white thing again being careful not to break the plastic tab you warned about and it worked! Being SOOO non-mechanically inclined, I had to watch all the way through to see how to put the panel down again! THANK YOU!!!

We had the exact same problem, filling but nothing more. My wife was fit to be tied! I came across your video, and didn't even have to open the top to check the switch. When I saw you say that your lid didn't click the way you thought it should, I checked mine and heard a similar lack of sound. I imitated you and tightened the hinge screws, and voila! It works great! Thanks so much!! (Happy wife, happy life!)

Our washer is pretty much the exact one in your video. Lid screws were loose so I tightened them and it still did not click. Tried to adjust the lid with some upward pressure and re- tighten but still did not work. I easily got to the switch and and removed it and then did a test on the switch by manually moving the slider and the washer worked. That indicated the switch was working. I disconnected the switch and sprayed some electrical cleaner into the black slider area and gently worked the switch back and forth. Put switch back in and adjusted the lid again and it works perfectly.

Thank you Brian! I had already call to buy a used washer for 100 on craigslist. I was watching this video when I got the call back from the washer seller saying that he would be home in 20 min so we could meet and close the deal. So I followed your instructions and fixed the machine in less than 10 min! Now I'll just have to call and cancel the deal. Thank you! I really had to borrow the money from my sister, I'll just give it back to her right away.

My switch wasn't fine but I couldn't tell. All I needed to do was replace a screw on my switch when I thought I had something really major to take up my time and money and focus. While watching and listening to you saying you got a hum, I realized I didn't get a hum, whcih meant my switch wasn't being engaged. I took a quick look and one of the screws had disappeared! I pushed down with a long screwdriver and got the machine to spin, then replaced that screw and presto! Thanks very much!

I just recently purchased this exact washer. I know you posted this video 8 years ago, but do you still have the model number on hand.
My my machine that I purchased is missing the label under the lid, and I need to replace the top agitator. So please if you have only the model number I'd appreciate it.
It a very informative tutorial and exposure to under console.

I just bought a new whirlpool washing machine (Lowes). It fills up with water (in sensing mode), then stops and you can hear dripping, then starts filling back up again. It gets stuck doing this for hours (of course I turn it off before hours). This is the 2nd machine as the first was stuck in sensing mode as well. Is this normal? any ideas?

We tried to wash clothes one night, not knowing that our water was frozen. Then it wouldn't do anything.. so I went back today and plugged it in and it finally drained but the drain cycle wouldn't stop. I unplugged again and tried to restart and it seemed to be working fine. Then went and checked on it again and the red "locked" light was on, but it was doing nothing. Both times I could smell a very faint smell of burnt wires too but can't find the problem. Now I try to cycle it and the "sensing fill" light comes on but it does nothing. Any idea at all?! Thank you
