    Thank you for the video. The local appliance parts store wanted $45 for that switch. So, I cut it off right at the switch, connected the two wires with a butt connector. Covered it with some shrink tubing and used electrical tape at the ends of tubing for good measure. I'm old and live alone, and I will (hopefully) never be stupid enough to stick my hand in the tub while it's screaming in circles.

      This is very dangerous. People and pets can and do get hurt. DO NOT DEFEAT a Lid lock. But a new Lid lock and replace it.
      PEOPLE I see pets and children get hurt or die frequently. This is avoidable. DO NOT defeat lid locks. Lid locks serve a very good purpose.

      Piss off with the "it's dangerous" BS. We all need a working washer.

    I thank God for you wonderful DIY TH-cam content creators who take the time to share. The AC guy literally left a piece of wire on my dining room table that I used to fix this. Our switch broke ages ago and I had just unscrewed it from the machine, then clamped it closed with a wooden clothespin and stuffed it deeper under the top. It (mostly) worked perfectly, but would randomly come loose during a jarring spin cycle - then the metal tab fell off and there was less material to clamp. It became so annoying that I had to turn my brain back on and wondered how difficult it'd be to just close the circuit once and for all.
    You saved me even more thinking. This is probably the fastest fix I've done in years. Thanks!

      @TightWadDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it’s just a lid switch issue, I would say it’s safe to do some loads. Just make sure no one opens the lid during a cycle. The high spin rate would be dangerous for a hand or arm.

So I took you advice and connect a small wire between the 1st and 3rd Wires in that wire harnessing coming from the Control Board going to the Lid Sensor. It did not work. Hi I have a Whirlpool Ultimate care ii washer that wont spin. I got it to spin once but doesnt work anymore and there is a burning smell when i put it on spin. Took apart the washer. Motor coupler is fine. Clutch seems to be fine also. Its stiff when I try to spin it. I noticed oil on my floor and the transmission is sticky. I tought it might be the shaft seals that are leaking and oil gets on the clutch so it slips causing it not to spin and that is when i get the burning smell... Does that make any sense???? Tried to take off the spanner nut but it just wont come off... Any tricks?? Did put penetrating oil but doesnt move.. will the spanner nut tool make it easier.. any help would be appreciated !
