Reggie I watched your at 11:30 pm. my wife told me at 11pm that machine wood not pump out. I took a quick look.
Watched 4 videos, your take on the problem sounded like my issue. Went back down at 11:50pm. So I flipped it back to the wall pulled out the pump found a purple 2 x 2 washer cloth. Since “ prince “ hasn’t visited since the 80’s , it was my wife’s make up remover pad. Some how found its way in the hamper. I was done and back upstairs at 12:15 am.
I thank you for you help and quick find and perfect explanation. Any boiler questions I will return the favor. Eric

Thank you so much! We literally went shopping for some decent used washers (very unsuccessful)because ours was aging and I assumed something might happen with it in the near future and yesterday it had the exact same symptoms you showed in the video. I thought "I knew it. I knew the time was coming". BUT- thanks to This most helpful info, we're able to hold off on the big purchase for now. My 19 yr old daughter and I were able to do this whole job after I got off work before my husband made it home! What a great feeling to give the surprise "WE DON'T actually need to buy a new washer!" We are all elated. Thank you thank you!

  • @SB-iz2fk
    @SB-iz2fk 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Oh man, I always watch some video that makes repairs look really easy and as I get into it, it ends up being less simple. I had the same symptoms but nothing clogging the pump. After that I got intimidated and called a repair guy. He said it was a capacitor or timer. The capacitor would be an extra $110 after his $65 just to come out, which he couldn't guarantee would fix it, or the timer which would be $450 and I might as well get a new one. I think I'm getting a new washer after spilling too much water on the floor and stressing myself out taking my washer apart (I don't mistake myself that any "repairs" I attempt could go horribly wrong). Happy to see this helped many people.

My pump on my Hot Point is located at the bottom and I took it off to inspect it from the bottom without disassembling the washer cover. I tilted the washed and had it propped where it couldn’t move and worked from the bottom and it worked as you stated!!!

Soooo helpful!! As soon as you explained how the obstruction happens I had an aha! moment. Last thing I washed was my cat’s little bed but I noticed some of the stuffing came out into the washer and I had a hard time pulling it out. Specifically the pieces hanging out from the top of the drum that had gotten into in the same area where you explained socks typically get stuck. Apparently I didn’t get it all and have to take my washer apart now lol but at least I know the problem!! Thank you 🙏

THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH Reggie. I thought it was a belt, the agitator or lid switch. I checked all those other things and then I saw your video. The minute I heard the humming, I knew that was the problem. Padding and wire from a bra were jammed in my pump. You are a money saver to a single mom. Thank you, brethren.

I truly appreciate these kinds of videos. It's far cheaper to repair these things than buying new one. My top load Roper is still going strong after 10 years in service. Dog hair and coins love to get jammed in there too. Usually the penny is the main culprit trapping the hair.

Awesome. You nailed it. Exactly the problem with my washer. I was looking at replacing the timer, the motor, Etc. Then checked for the motor...did not spin. Pulled the pump and it did spin! Sure enough a small piece of cloth stuck in the pump. Pulled it out, put it back, and it started up and drained just fine. The fact that it was humming like you said is what gave it away, motor was trying to turn. Will be a hero when the wife gets home! Saved me hundreds, thanks! :-)

Lovely lady, trust me, as one of the first wave of women in USAF aircraft maintenance, you can do anything that a guy can! It just a matter of being shown how! It’s totally BS that we can’t do the same things as a man. It’s just a way to keep us down.
This video is awesome. I recommend it to everyone male and female.
So now you have some confidence go conquer the maintenance world women!

some thing that did the work of five men, One woman.😁

Once AGAIN you have saved time, money, aggravation, and headaches of
a major dilemma by reducing it to a common occurrence repairable in no time flat ! Just got a used washer home and in place (bought yesterday as a "good working washer", full load washed, but no drain or spin. Thought I would do some research before calling the seller and calling him out. This problem could have occurred anywhere from his removal, a 45 mile transport, and my own final install in my house. I did the repair in less than 5 minutes, and had no need to embarrass myself with a phone call based on an incorrect assumption.....Thank You ! !

But I do have one small question…after I took those clips off underneath the control panel and started removing the washer cabinet two small “c” clips came lose and don’t know where they came from. It runs fine ( I ran a full cycle) so maybe they’re just for vibration control.

Thank you Reggie for your demonstration! Well done, even when the going got tough! Today is Memorial Day, and with all the holidays, my luck has it that at least one home appliance has to break down on a holiday (my walk behind mower drive also quit being self-propelled today) my washer would not go into the spin cycle, so after checking the lid switch, capacitor and belt for functionality, now I'll check out the pump for an obstruction. (after pumping out the water out of the drum, I found out how my wife is laundering money and also found one of her little socks under the agitator) If I need parts I will buy from your website! this is the kind of advertising that gets my attention! Bravo!

Sounds like a bad capacitor or if you have other things plugged in the same Outlet could be caused by low amperage, try plugging into a different Outlet
