      @@boostedmedia It's been almost 2 years of owning a decent fanatec setup and generally I enjoyed having the gear but lately I've been wanting to move over to another brand simply because I can't stand how drifting suxs with such a weak bumpstops, I have to resort to FFB Tweaks settings in AC just to have a firm bump stop while all other brands have settings inside their firmware that lets you configure how soft or hard you want them to be.
      So playing other games my wheel sometimes rotates 40-50 degrees past the bumpstop range due to inertia and then I have this deadzone which I have to put the wheel back from to get steering back again and it suxs ...
      I've tried posting on forums to request this "feature" but they keep on delaying it. It was supposedly set to be out in 2022 or 2023 but now they're saying it they won't implement it until 2025 or later ... Obvioujsly I don't even know if they have any engeniers working on Fanatec drivers anymore due to the whole situation I just stopped following the whole story altogether ...
      And obviously changing just a base to Simmagic for example (Which everyone recommends fors drifting particularly) is tough because I don't even know how everything else would work without the base and everything.
      Or I could get the whole Simmagic setup and change everything at once but then that's a huge investment ... Sigh ...
      I'm curious on couple of things since you have experience with so much sim racing hardware.
      1. How much better do you think owning a Simmagic base would in your opinion in comparison to something like CSL DD or GT DD PRO?
      2. Does simmagic have any issues with game compatibility like for example Moza had? Like for example does Simagic have some sort of Compatbility mode like fanatec has?
      3. Or do I stay within Fanatec eco system and upgrade my CSL DD to CS DD and hope that fanatec moves their ass and will continue developing features that customers request?
      I feel like I want to move out of Fanatec ecosystem but I'm so buried in it that it's a major pain to do a massive migration ...
      I just don't know anymore.

    I bought into the Moza ecosystem because of the FSR steering wheel mainly. It’s almost a straight up replica of the FIA Formula 4 steering wheel in my daughter’s race car. Also managed to mod the CRP pedals to exactly replicate both feel/throw and pressure of the F4. Helps to have it next to the rig while modding. Both iRacing and the actual race car use AIM data log which further helped get the actual pressure in the calipers spot on.
    Actually picked up a R21 today to swap the old R12v2 with. Haven’t tried the new algorithm yet but very excited to do so.
    Biggest downside (maybe really only so far) are the ridiculous oscillations. Can’t even take one hand off the wheel, but then again we have been running the R12 maxed out for F4 simulation. Be interesting to see if the R21 handles it better. Disappointed to hear Moza didn’t deal with this for their major update.
    To clarify: Not a big issue in anything else but the F4, but that’s 85% of what we are running.

    I recently bought the Moza R5 Bundle, and I'm really happy with it. However, I don't fully see the need for a wheel with a screen. I understand that some might want an F1-style wheel, but I never look at my wheel while driving, whether in sims or real life. Personally, I’d prefer a wheel without a screen. It seems more practical to buy a small LCD and place it next to the monitor for RPMs. The built-in gyro is a nice feature, but the constant shaking of the UI while driving makes it difficult to use effectively.

    • @awakeandwatching953

      if you drive with out the wheel showing in sim you can lose out on revs, gears etc on cars where that info is displayed on the in sim wheel so i can see why people would want a screens with those cars.. personally i would just use on overlay to give me that info or if i could attach an lcd screen to my wheel base id do it that way.. i drive in vr in ac at the mo and there are cars where i end up using the in sim wheel display but then in those cars in vr you tend to be lower any way
      when my UW screen arrives i will just use an overlay. im limited for wheels on my g pro any way lol

    Crazy how years back when the cheaper Direct Drives from Fanatec like the 5nm versions were announced.
    It was such a hype. At the same time Fanatec were abit partial on selling and shipping products to the UK at the time due to the Brexit ordeal.
    Fast forward to this day, more companies are making their own Direct Drives which ultimately buried Fanatec slowly.
    The joys of having multiple companies competing.
    Technology will keep going forward.
    And if the tech slows down. The competition switches from who has the better technology to who has the better pricing.
    For the benefit of the consumer.

    • @MatthewRunyon-n4g
      @MatthewRunyon-n4g 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@UncommonManFromEarth @UncommonManFromEarth Well there's a good few I'd say. The power is definitely a plus, the CSL DD has a noticeable drop off in torque mid corner, because it can really only hold at 6nm. One of the most immediate differences is how the R12 can sustain it's strength throughout the whole corner, it makes a big difference and feels a lot better.
      The R12's quick release is really great, if you're coming from a QR1 is a massive step up, if you're coming from a QR2, it's on the same level of rigidity.
      The software offers a lot of customization to feel the FFB the way you want and tailor it from game to game. The firmware does seem to improve the FFB further for some titles but it's always been a very detailed experience, never felt like i was missing something compared to the CSL DD.
      I have to say as well, the flexibility to just use any wheel you want without hassle is a big plus.
      As far as support goes, I can't speak too much for Moza directly as I buy my Moza stuff from Sim Motion, which they've been really nice to work with when I did have an issue, an issue that was thankfully resolved quite simply, but they were responsive and helpful and at the ready to send a label if something needed to be returned. That said, I've only had 1 issue since I've owned the base so I've only had to reach out the one time. Compare that to Fanatec, where I had to reach out quite a few times and eventually had to be refunded for a wheel and quick release.
      All and all the R12's been a great step up, I don't think you'd be disappointed going with them. I also have their SRP Pedals and a few wheels and I can say they're also quite solid. The only word of warning I can think of is if you choose to buy it, definitely buy the mounting bracket as it makes it much easier to mount. And be careful screwing the mounting screws into the bottom of the base as it's pretty easy to strip them.

    I wasn't aware they had this update. I can't wait to try it on my R12 setup. I actually use it as a secondary setup now. It used to be my main setup, until I realized the T818 was only hated on because every consumer and review is evidently ill-knowledged on what plastic can do and how different one plastic can be from another. (I formulate high strength plastics btw, nothing to worry about with the T818 and longevity.) The T818 just feels better and stronger than the R12. It's underrated. Like literally, the motor for the T818 is underrated. It is definitely more powerful than the R12 and has notably more detail. Hopefully this FFB can put them back on even playing field as they should be. I've always rooted for Moza to be amazing, but their detail has always been SEVERELY lacking; both in basic and fine detail. I love my T818, but it'd be hilarious if this update makes me throw the R12 back on the main rig and throw Thrustmaster on the back burner a 2nd time 🤣 Very bummed how the T818s reception has been though. It was kind of a flop fully based on uneducated presumtions, and it still doesn't sell nearly as well as it should. Very sad that it's that easy to be pushed down in the market. It's best-in-class imo

    I've been on the fence trying to decide between Asetek Forte and Moza R16. I think Moza's FFB update and your review of it, along with their recent FFB Pedals has tipped me to Moza.
    I've been using a Fanetec CSL DD 8nm for 3ish years and have been quite happy with that. I'm upping my game now, taking a sim racing course, learning to read and learn from telemetry, and just driving driving more often and more competitively. My expectations have changed and I'm looking for that little bit more from the FFB hardware and software.
    Thanks for another great review!
    Enjoy!
    Rick

    Hi Will, thank you for your hard work in bringing us these informative videos. I'm glad you mentioned the rubber band effect; I have the R5 bundle and I feel this rubber band effect mostly in my favourite game:ACC! How can I minimise this in the Pithouse software? Funny because with my G27 it was my favourite sim but with the R5 it's become my least favourite. That mantle has gone to AMS2, closely followed by Raceroom. The FFB is phenomenal on these sims. A revelation has been the F1 games! What a difference with the R5. On a totally different subject; where's your brother at. You guys have great chemistry together :)

    Fanatec rocks....still. I have the McLaren wheel and that allows me to play Xbox as well as PS5. IMPORTANT. What is not common knowledge or said enough, if you ask me, is that the McLaren wheel also allows my Fanatec shifter and Fanatec ebrake to work on Xbox perfectly without any update needed. Just switch wheel and thats it. (And plug base into Xbox) Everything works as opposed to Moza being Xbox only. Also, all my parts arrived within time predicted. Ive never had a delay, and I've purchased a fair amount the past year plus. Viva la Fanatec!🧡🙏🏼

      Same here. My first wheel was a Fanatec GT3RS v2, then I had the CSL Elite F1 e-sports, now I'm on CSL DD 8Nm (BMW GT2 v2 and McLaren GT3 v2) and I can't rrally complain. Everything I bought from them was A-okay. Having profiles stored in the wheel and being able to tweak settings without alt-tabbing is very useful in my experience. The QR1 is a bit meh but I'm not willing to forkout hundreds to switch to QR2. I wouldn't buy their pedals though. There are far better options if you're willing to buy second hand. The HE Sprints are excellent. I actually felt so comfortable with them that I bought them twice :) (I had to sell my rig at some point and then was rebuilding)

    I myself am torn between the CSL DD and hearing all the problems people have had with them, and the Moza R9. The R9 is much more affordable all in, but this isn't the first time I've heard that the FFB in Fanatec wheels is so good. Another reason I'm leaning towards Moza, is their ecosystem. To get more wheels, or upgrade in any form, it's SO much cheaper with Moza... I can't justify paying $400 for a wheel rim when I've already spent almost $1,000 on the entire setup to begin with....

    I guess they've messed up the onwheel clock because they used gyroscope. Gyroscope has definitely much more delay than simple input data. For example if you pick an average android phone and play with the tilt you will experience at least 50 ms gyros latency which is then converted into the code value that transforms into an axis rotation on the clocks UI. This is useless. In my opinion the wheel display has to convert the actual wheel rotation from the MOZA software. It's like one line of code instead of three. So in C# it would look like:
    public RectTransform dashboard;
    public float wheelRot;
    void Update()
    {
    wheelRot = Mathf.Round(Input.GetAxis("TheAxisOfMozawheelRotationDefinedBySoftware");
    dashboard.transform.rotation = new Vector2(Mathf.Lerp(dashboard.transform.rotation.x, wheelRot, time.deltaTime * 10f), 0);

    I am happy for Moza. I want ALL the sim companies to succeed, it makes for better competition. However, it does not NATIVELY include PS. There are a lot of customers that want PS or PS & PC. Unless you cover consoles and PC, you are limiting yourself. I am talking to the manufacturers. Not everyone wants to try and keep up with the "Joe Rogan's" of the World. I don't have an extra $70K for a sim rig, plus the latest PC every 6 months. Some of us race, TO HAVE FUN. Gasp... I know, what a novel idea. Buying $400 wheel and then a $2,000 PC plus semi-annual upgrades of $1,000 yo $2,000 video cards is out of the realm of a lot of people. And don't get me started on VR... I have friends with shelves of shame, covered with VR equipment they used for a week and re-boxed then shelved. At least PSVR2 seems to be stable IF you can use it at all.
