Love the final outcome but the “before” was beautiful!!
The "before" was already worked as a bonsai for many years. You can see the taper and the bends. Those are human-made too.
Definitely improved it. Would love to see it in 10 & 20 years time.

These guys have skills yes it looked beautiful before but there reshaping it and they pruned it properly bonsai is a form of shaping and pruning trees, brushes ground cover, into a landscape of its own where they started years ago it was small areas the they took these bigger plants and made landscape s into mini style

I think the branch placement was fine in the "before". Splitting the branch and bending it into an unnatural position seems an exercise in technique more than art. The tree lacks a nice root base and If the foliage were left on, the tree would have had the strength to do some root work on it and get it under way as a bonsai. With the tree in it's present state, it will take many years before the tree gets strong enough again to re pot with root work. All sense seems to be sacrificed for the art of the demo.

The new shape has the feel of larger tree; original was more bush-like. Isn't that the main goal of Bonsai? It's also not fair to directly compare before and after; "before" was a very nice *finished* bush, but the "after" is only the preparation, the very rough work-in-progress for what it will become. You have to use your imagination to see how he has massively improved the long-term potential, not just the current look. The beauty of this improvement speaks to me. :)
