  • This is a free lecture of the Kimura Masterclass. In this lecture Masahiko Kimura discusses the aesthetics and design options for this Japanese white pine. For more free previews, see: www.bonsaiempire.com/courses/...
    This white pine has never been styled before, but it certainly has great potential for Bonsai. Mr. Masahiko Kimura also talks about the collection of this yamadori and he explains several techniques including cleaning the Nebari, pruning branches, applying raffia and making a big bend.

    木村先生お元気ですか?私は30年位前に盆栽専門誌で先生の盆栽の改作見て25歳から盆栽と、木村先生の大ファンでした。木村先生が針金をかけた赤松は大型盆栽のため、もうありませんが、木村先生が写っている本などかい集めてました。偶然見つけた木村先生のお姿、懐かしいです。これからも頑張ってください👍😄❗最後まで針金かけ見たかったです👏👏🌱🍀

    What a gorgeous tree. When I first saw the thumbnail, I thought the aspect ratio of the image had been shifted too much.

      First of all, to call Peter a 'baby' by comparison is disingenuous and completely unnecessary. Secondly, first hand means you've quite literally witnessed them both work, in the flesh - have you? You're not comparing some layman to Kimura, you're comparing a man with 50 plus years experience with 21 RHS Gold Medals.

    • @MrYoumitube
      @MrYoumitube 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Makes sense, while I respect Peter Chan contribution to the bonsai community. Kimura is a Pro Bonsai Master who is world recognised and has won all the most prestigious awards in Japan in which IMO is the pinnacle of bonsai artistry. There is a reason why many recognised Bonsai pros go to Japan to learn the art and then make a reputation of their own. I have a few Peter Chan books, but Kimura is like Mount Everest level. It's like comparing a Harvard Mathematics Professor to a really good high school maths teacher. I would gladly pay to watch a Kimura demo while I would be happy to browse and watch a "free" Peter Chan video.

    with the students taking away most of the tasks, this looks a lot more like regular work than an art or a hobby.
    even though i have become obsessed with bonsai recently, i REALLY dislike this video.
    he just looks so bored doing it.

    • @StoufSto
      @StoufSto 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think he's bored, that's concentration.
      He also seems annoyed at constantly being asked "so what are you doing now!?", when he's still just doing the basic routine maintenance that had been neglected.
      "How many times do I have to say: 'I am just removing the dead and unnecessary branches' ?"
      Meanwhile he's probably visualising and thinking about what to do with the branches that will be left.
      Then "how do you not break the branches?" -> "I stop applying force when I feel it's about to break"... What a stupid question.
      How do you know to close the lid on a container without overly tightening it? How do you hold anything without crushing it?
      All equally idiotic questions as what was asked.

    • @hijodelaisla275
      @hijodelaisla275 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's poorly put together. Half of it is him wrapping raffia. You get the idea pretty quickly; you don't need to watch so much of the process. This man is clearly revered for his work (evident in the way his acolytes attend to him); it's a shame we don't see more of it and the thoughts behind his decisions.
