My dream car... over in the US we only got these in Gran Turismo... I've wanted one of these cars since I was a kid playing GT4 with my dad. I'm 18 now and this is still my dream car, a GSR wrapped in Steel Silver. All I'd do is add a HKS catback, a set of RPF1's (they're a lot like the factory wheels) and maybe suspension and brakes. One day I'll have a pristine one imported...
Troy B Thanks bro. Can you guys import it now? I see Adam LZ and some others got some EVO 4 and 5 already. I am going to finish my stage one mods soon. My target for this car is 360 BHP. For reliable daily drive.
@@Jimmy_Wei 2021 is when a 1996 Evo IV can be imported, so those cars are probably registered as older Evo's and aren't technically legal. On another note, that is a pretty attainable goal, These cars don't need a lot of power to be quick. I myself own a 1987 Mitsubishi Starion ESi-R, which is a sort of grandfather car to the Evo. Sadly you guys in NZ only got the narrowbody Starion and not the widebody like mine.
Evos in of themselves (forgetting the generation) are hard to find in South Africa. I’ve been looking for an Evo VII (Although my favorite is an Evo IV) for a while now and still can’t find anything, so I’m accepting the fact that I’m going to have to settle for a scuby (Not necessarily a bad thing, I just like the engine sound of an Evo more).
nice! I have the RS model. Could do with more power but it handles insane. swapped the rubber to bridgestone RE003 and enkei RPF1 wheels, set of BC gold coilovers and EBC yellow stuff brake pads. Now its a grip animal!
Honey Badger I just bought a set of BC gold too, after I got ripped off by a set of used Tein Monoflex with a blown front damper. Haha. Will post another video of how to replace Coilovers.
Richard Malo Just drive and enjoy it regular maintenance. and don’t worry about if it has crack walk or not. Not many people really blown or damaged the internal or evo 4 though.
How much do you need to spend on an evo 4 in nz if you want something fairly stock and in pretty respectable condition? And how many ks is to many ks when your looking at buying an evo?
Jake Taff Hi, Mate, if you have enough money, try to get an EVO 5, everything is way better than 4. They are quite similar price at the moment. Because you will need to spend few thousand dollars to modify and tune an EVO 4 to make it better but not even good as a stock EVO 5. I can’t even tune my EVO 4 stock ECU. Unless you really like the simple and clean shape of EVO 4. Mileage doesn’t matter that much. Less than 150,000 would be idea, but make sure the cambelt and water pump has been replaced. If you don’t want to spend too much extra money to modify it. Some good built on the market also worth to buy, as long as the buyer is genuine EVO lover, and car is tastefully modified.
@@4bangr4days Back in those years the Evo 6 will cost you more than 25-30K already, right now most of the JDM car price is more expensive than when they were brand new.
Hey, I'm only 13 years old and I live I the U.S In indiana we have this thing where when you turn 14 and 30 days old you can (with your parents permission) get a workers permit and be able to work at a job, which I plan to do weekends obviously because of school. So at a little grocery store I live close to called gosses, the starting pay is 10.25. If I worked there until I was 17, do you think I would be able to afford one of these and be able to top off the fuel tank with having ample money to do other things I'd like, like modding it some, like perhaps some nicer seats, I'm quite interested in the Recaro confetti seats but they are quite expensive so I don't know. But I'd like to mod it a bit. I don't know, but please let me know you're thoughts! Edit: I didn't account for something. Do you think it is reliable enough to be daily driven and not have it break down alot. Also what about the insurance costs. Hopefully you answer this, thanks for your time.
Dislodged Grump If I am not wrong, from next year you US can import those cars now?,because of the 25 years rule? If you can raise money little by little. You dream will come true. But take it easy. Start from a old run around car to begin with, don’t buy an automatic. Mx5 Miata will be a good one to start with. Drive within the limit, don’t push yourself too hard, don’t make unnecessary mistakes that boy racers (ricers) usually do. this is a long learning process. This EVO 4 is my 5th car. I am 28 years old now. I Believe you can do it.
Dislodged Grump another thing I want to suggest you is try to get as higher qualifications as you can. Education is very important for you future development. If you like cars, try to dig into it.

love the livery evo 4 GT1
I got the same car with a laundry list of mods. Definitely sweet rides.
i hope someday i have evo IV :(

You will if you chase it
Evo IV’s aren’t as expensive as I thought, I went to garage defend (online) once, and most of them are below 12k.
What state are you located in..? I know a place that has a 4gsr for sale..
@@enrique3574 . Yeah, even show car quality ones are still only 25k. They are actually a steal in my opinion
Full Throttle at 3:42 and 6:19
Hey Jimmy , great vid, do u still have this machine? Was it reliable? Thx!
It’s quite reliable as soon as you make sure the cambelt and turbo system in good condition, but I recommend getting Evo 5,6

@@Jimmy_Wei Yeah I'm gona go have a look at it tomorrow after work might try trade my Mazda in for it bro
So can u still get a car from peace brothers if u got bad credit bro?
Peter Hura they also put a Fenix radiator in it. Much better now.
Peter Hura you can try talk to see how it goes.
I heard that majority of the 4's suffered a lot from crank walk, did you do any mods to avoid this problem?

Jimmy Wei thanks for the quick reply mate.
Richard Malo I know a guy has a 350whp stock engine and he’s car been driven for over 200,000kms without open it. No problem
