Guys, I did not ride Ironman last year, had to refocus on finishing Cape Epic 2021 last year. But I am happy to report that one year later than planned I finished my first full Ironman @ Challenge Almere clocking 5 hours 20 minutes on the bike section with really strong Cat 3 headwind on the main segment (total time 11:16). HSF Aeria worked like a charm! I drank 2.5 liters out of it, dumping all bottles into it. I drank Maurten Drink Mix 320, which basically supplies you with all the food you need. It was quite satisfying to overtake a couple of dozens Speedmax CF SLX and S-Works Shiv on the way. The engine still matters after all =)

Hi Chad, enjoy! About the hydration - if you read comments below, you will see that officially Profile Design do not seem to approve the use of their faceplate on the Canyon handlebar claiming some sort of incompatibility. In reality, this is seems to be the legal rather than real reasons. My faceplate holds the handlebar with no issues with thousands of km ridden. It does fit quite tight - you will need to move the aerobars to the widest position possible.

I have done Tri Amsterdam a week and a half ago. This was in Amsterdam towards Ouderkerk and back - two laps with lots of turns and lots of bumpy roads with tiles, speed bumps, etc. Still managed to clock 38 kph avg speed on this bike. You have to get used to handle it of course, but for me it's still worth it, because on any straight you win a lot of time vs. normal roadbike - especially against the wind.

Hi, thanks! I am 182 cm. The size of my bike is M and that was something that Canyon determined themselves when they took my measurements in their showroom in Koblenz. so I guess that is pretty reliable =). Honestly, I wish the handlebar was positioned even lower (like in SLX or CFR) to have more freedom to choose the position, but ok, I can live with the current one. I know a lot of people that are quite tall prefer smaller sizes. Lionel Sanders is 178 cm and his Speedmax is S! Good luck! The bike is insanely fast, I have to say.

hi, id like to buy this bike but im exactly at the edge between the size S and M - i might be to big for the S frame but to small for the M frame reach, im 175cm but have pretty long legs with 84cm inside. canyon recommends size M if i put in my height and 84cm, but as soon as i drop to 83cm it recommends S. i guess its always better to go with the smaller bike because its easier to extend in the front and on the saddle than it is to cut down right?

@@Pnift well, I was not aware of this advice and this is what I found. Practically, I think they posted this only for legal reasons - to avoid any lawsuits. It's the same diameter as Aeria HSF stem - 31.8 mm. Mine fit perfectly and naturally, I was able to screw it securely and had no issues whatsoever on the bumpiest roads. However, if you want to be ABSOLUTELY safe then yes, just get the whole Aeria HSF stem. They only issue is that you pay a bit more (EUR100 more!) and it is pretty heavy at a whopping 400g! Now the real issue was - you have to put the aerobars as wide as Profile Design 35A allows - but at a maximum the drinking tank does fit, it's nice and snug! ))

Mine Aerie bottle launched off the front of my bike into a cornfield mid race, causing me to lose my Garmin and minutes of time. Fuck that thing, it's an unreliable piece of shit.

It's almost impossible to take that thing off unless you pinch two locking pins. I suspect yours was not fully inserted.
