You can try wiggle steering wheel left right hardly while tuning the key it may help unlock the steering column. Other measure is while ESL still good please urgently buy an ESL emulator and replace it sooner. But it need lock smith to program the ESL emulator. Once you done no more steering lock and last long no problem again.
This actually worked for me today Inserted key and it would be recognized, but turning the key all the way right would not do anything I held the steering wheel HARD to the left while turning the key to start the car and then it finally started Note, that if you let go of the wheel before it is fully “unlocked”, the car will shut off right away You have to keep holding the steering wheel until it almost snaps back to the correct position
Yes the ESL must be replaced. That’s where we can help. The factory esl from the dealership costs $400 plus labor. They usually give you a bill of $2500. Also the factory esl is rebuilt with a Chinese motor. It will last two years max. Our solution uses an electronic esl emulator instead of the faulty factory lock. When you took out the 7.5 fuse and put it back in and then the jump that you did on the relay was the locking module still connected while you did that because I didn’t understand that part there.??? The reason I ask is because initially you said that the module the locking module got stuck in the unlocked position, so was it still connected under the steering wheel when you did that that’s what I meant.

I got a problem with my 2008 c180, 2-3min before the problem i started the car and moved the steering wheel to maximum right side and turned off ignition. 2-3 min after that I wanted to start but when I put the key it only sounds like it clicks and nothing happens when I try to start it. It won’t react at something. What could this be? I don’t have that copper cable to try this trick and I really need the car to start tomorrow. What could I do and what could the problem be? Thankful for all help I can get!🙏
It’s the steering lock. The motor of the steering lock was weak, and with the added resistance from turning the wheels to full lock right side or left side (doesn’t matter which side) the steering lock motor is too weak to actuate the gears inside and unlock the steering column. This results in no dash lights when turning the key twice to the right in position 2. No crank, no start. Take the steering wheel in both hands and move it left and right hard. Essentially banging on the lock and attempting to move the plastic gear wheel inside the lock. It may free up the lock. If the lock opens up, your car will start. Get an esl emulator installed asap. Your factory lock is failing. Watch our TH-cam videos. You’ll find all of this on video. Https://mercedesbenzspecialist.net You can find our w204 videos on one page on our website.

I have never had this problem on my Mercedes, but I have had it happen on my Audi. I have seen ESL bypass products for sale for my Mercedes, if I do have this problem. What is your opinion of bypass products, are they worth it?

After inserting the key into the ignition switch... with the driver door open. You should here a "ding" and see a message on the instrument cluster reading "Take key from ignition." This tells us that the key was recognized by the EIS. Now see if the steering wheel is locked with the key in the ignition. If it's locked, you have a failed steering lock. If the steering wheel is not locked, remove the key from the ignition switch. It should now be locked. If it's not locked, you have a steering lock that failed in the unlocked position. Did they hit the front wheel? Sometimes when the wheel is hit it will prevent your electronic steering lock from unlocking when the key is inserted into the ignition switch. This may start your car, but if the steering lock is locked, you won't be able to turn the steering wheel.

If the key is not locking or unlocking the car and not getting a response from the car when I insert it what could it be? The seats move and the steering wheel moves up and down
@@mercedesbenzspecialist that’s exactly what it was, thank you. I had a spare and it worked fine. What can cause a key to go bad outta no where though?
It happens frequently. Bad solder joints or a failed capacitor. One of the most common reasons is jumping your Mercedes-Benz. Jumping can desynchronize the keys from the EIS. If you’re battery gets low. Trickle charge it or buy a new battery. Keep the key out of the EIS when disconnecting/reconnecting the battery.
It’s not the battery in the key. Power for the key fob is supplied through the EIS for starting the car. The key fob battery serves only to lock/ unlock doors, and trunk. I don’t know what it is with your key. I was just mentioning the most common causes.
Thanks you for the tip! Will the power windows work after getting the vehicle to start? My ESL got stuck in the lock position . I just need to roll the windows up until I can get it fixed.
My 2007 c230 did it today. Steering wheel locked and also the ignition locked. I wasn’t able to turn they at all. Is that normal that the ESL and the ignition both locked.
Hey, my car is having the exact same issue and it won’t crank either. Only thing that’s different is I noticed your dash actually lights up mine does t have any power at all. No crank and electric power at all. Tried jumpstarting it dash lit up but still no crank.
Sounds like two issues. Battery has insufficient voltage. That’s why your dash was completely dark. (Not even mileage shows up?) When you connected another power source dash lights up. Here is where I need more specifics. When you turn key to ignition 2 do you have red and yellow dash lights? If you do, you don’t have an ESL, EIS, or key issue. Start looking for an issue from the fuse box. Bad starter fuse, bad starter relay. If you don’t have reds and yellows it’s most likely a bad esl.
The steering lock has failed. You must remove the steering lock from the steering column. Then send us your ignition switch and key. We will program a steering lock emulator to replace your failed steering lock. Watch this video. 2014 Mercedes C250 W204 ESL Removal. @@mercedesbenzspecialist yes bith keys give same message. I havent really checked to see if steering locked. I testedcar battery and multi-meter says 11. something volts, then i tried to jump but couldnt then read battery again and said 12.07 volts. If steering is locked then what?
Jumping can cause desynchronization of the keys and EIS. It’s best to avoid jumping a MBZ. Use a trickle charger to charge your battery. Or replace it if it cannot be recharged. If you have no choice, use a jump pack, and make sure the key fob is not inside the ignition switch when attaching cables to your battery that are powered from any outside source ( jump pack, battery booster, another vehicles battery) only after the outside power source is attached to your battery do you insert the key into the ignition switch to attempt to start your car.
Any idea why pulling that fuse let's everything turn on? I thought I had a bad esl about 3 weeks ago an was checking fuses an forgot I had the key on an everything came on just like yours when I put that fuse back in. I'm wondering why everything works (turns on ) pulling the fuse but nothing with the key in that position?
Pulling that fuse puts the EIS into “Wake up” process. During this short process “drive authorization“ is granted to the EIS when it would normally be granted only after the esl had given the EIS “drive authorization”. If you have a faulty esl. No Drive authorization is given to the EIS. But you can sneak it in during the wake up process. The motor in your esl is beginning to fail. Eventually it will fail leaving you with a no crank condition. It would be good preventative practice to replace it with an electronic emulator while it still unlocks. After it stops unlocking, the work load to remove it increases 2-3 times. Give me a text or call if you need a programmed emulator. Call us at 818-510-3375

Glad it worked. Unfortunately, it will fail. All of them will fail likely within the next couple of years. The small motor inside the electronic steering lock is the culprit.

This actually worked for me today
Inserted key and it would be recognized, but turning the key all the way right would not do anything
I held the steering wheel HARD to the left while turning the key to start the car and then it finally started
Note, that if you let go of the wheel before it is fully “unlocked”, the car will shut off right away
You have to keep holding the steering wheel until it almost snaps back to the correct position
Yooooo thanks I just did it. It worked. I ducked that 300 dollar tow fee. Appreciate that
Do I need just regular copper because his copper has a wire around it
It’s 14 guage solid insulated copper wire.

Thank you for the video. The slots from the starter relay is from 12 o'clock to 6 o'clock.
Awesome work !
Right. The slots are directional opposites too. One horizontal across from a vertical.
Dude you just saved my life!! But what exactly do it need to replace? The ESL?
Yes the ESL must be replaced. That’s where we can help. The factory esl from the dealership costs $400 plus labor. They usually give you a bill of $2500. Also the factory esl is rebuilt with a Chinese motor. It will last two years max.
Our solution uses an electronic esl emulator instead of the faulty factory lock. Much more reliable and much less expensive.

I got a quick question.
I trying it, that's working good, this technic just like a starter ignite, when you sick the wire in relay spots remove it after running else that make you starter motor

Yes you can. This relay stays open circuit until you crank again.
do you know what causes the ESL to activate? is it just wear and tear or can you do something as the driver to accidentally activate it?

@@HABIBI19798 in the w203 w209 w210 w211 models the EIS will not unlock until the esl unlocks.
(Not even mileage shows up?)
When you connected another power source dash lights up.

Do you have to put the relay back on? When the car already started?
You can, but you don’t have to.

If not, check for voltage drop from battery to the starter. If there is no drop, remove starter and have it tested.
