Glad it helped. I should share my experience with you. The Chinese motor you used to replace the German motor will last less than 2 years. I know this because I used to replace the motors in these for years back in 2015. I did hundreds of them. They all failed within 2 years. That’s why we started using the electronic emulator instead. Yes it’s possible, but there are other issues that could cause a stall while driving. With the 2006 model the first thing that comes to mind is the infamous engine balance shaft issue. That would be a timing issue. You would have a hard start or long crank, engine would run poorly. Check engine light 💡. A bad crankshaft sensor could cause a stall while sitting at a stop as well. Steering is always unlocked? If always unlocked. Your ESL has failed. If it unlocks on key insertion to the EIS, do you have red and yellow dash lights when you turn the key twice to the right?

The ignition is locked Will not turn

This brand is oem for this model. Mercedes uses Corteco, and Lemforder. You can use other brands.

It’s connected to the floor shifter. It prevents the key from coming out of the EIS until the transmission is in park.

This video is for those who have removed the airbag to remove the steering wheel to fix the ESL problem in their 2008-2014 C class. It does not apply to every situation of SRS malfunction. If your SRS light is on for a different reason than this will not fix it.

In this case the light is on because the airbag was disconnected to remove the steering wheel. If the the negative cable of the battery was not disconnected while the airbag was disconnected. The SRS light will turn on. Once it’s been reconnected the light can be erased.

Does the mileage show up when you open the driver door?

Does it show any sign of power at all? If it does. Check fuses 19 and 27. Make sure those are good. If they are good then you have a bad EIS or a bad key.

Yes the cluster wakes up when u open the door it has power cause my radio and lights come on just no ignition and I had my key information read with the scanner and the mechanic told me it was a working key

If your mechanic is correct about the key. It must be the EIS. Did you check those two fuses I mentioned?

How do you know the key fob is fine? If it won’t start the car. You said “no central locking”. I assume you mean the fob does not lock or unlock your doors. If this is true, then the key fob has to be on your list of suspects. Along with the EIS, and the fuses that power the EIS.

@mercedesbenzspecialist I went back to the car after I changed the batteries then all of a sudden no central locking no dash lights no crank so random it happened

Yes it could be the water pump. II use a stethoscope to listen for sounds that are abnormal. But if you don’t regularly listen to healthy pumps, you may not know the difference. The pump is inexpensive. At 130k miles you should replace the water pump anyway as preventative maintenance.

It could be the mosfets. It could be the ignition controller chip. It could be solder integrity issue. It’s difficult to diagnose the cause. Much easier to replace it with another unit.

You make one up. Then program a key and esl using the saved EIS data with your invented key password.

You can’t start the car normally if your steering lock has failed. Did you use the fuse box trick to get it started? That trick is more helpful when the steering lock fails in the unlocked position. You must remove the esl. Get an esl emulator programmed and get on with your life! VVDI can read an ECM but it cannot write ECM FBS data to an EIS.

Thanks for that, good to know. I guess you use Abrites to write FBS key track and SSID onto EIS. I have been looking to buy Abrites for a while now, but find it a bit expensive for what they offer. Do you know any other machine that can write FBS security data, key track and SSID onto EIS.

That's right. It needs to be programmed. Also, Mercedes will not sell you just the part alone. It's on their TRP (Theft Related Parts) list. You must purchase it from them and have it installed and programmed by them. BIG BUCKS!!! $2500 if they are in a good mood. You can get this done for much less. You can get the same starter they sell at the dealership online for under $200. Mercedes does not manufacture starters. They buy it from Bosch or Seg Automotive.

I always recommend removing it for safety. If the gears inside are broken, the vibrations of the road could eventually lead to a locked ESL. Imagine that locking up while you're driving. Not good.

@@mercedesbenzspecialist So my situation is that it locked once, and then after wiggling steering wheel, it worked fine again. The next 6 key inserts it worked fine, so the mechanic swapped in the emulator with ESL still inside. Now that the cable is no longer attached, there is no electricity going to it. Given the ESL is in unlocked position always when you drive it, wouldn't you say it shouldn't suddenly go locked by itself just from vibration alone? That would be a massive design flaw. The gears shouldn't be broken, but the motor is on its last leg. Do u think vibrations can really lead to the motor moving and turning that gear? There is also a black thing inside, does that do anything to stop it from accidently rotating? I'm actually super open minded, I need to be able to drive my car so I got it done with emulator for now. I don't mind after a month and I get less busy and taking out the ESL on my own.

IF the gears were broken the risk is there. It may not be probable, but it is possible. Spend a couple of hours and get it out. For your safety and the safety of others. It’s the responsible thing to do.

If you got a crank with the Bobby pin then it worked. Crank no start could be that your c class is a 2013 or 2014. This trick does not work on these models. Could be that your ecm has failed. Or your EIS or key is bad. This trick does require a working key and EIS. If either is faulty, you will get a crank no start.

It is 2014 yeah makes sense I had a code for dynamic control module loss of comm like six months ago doing same thing kinda so makes sense thank hour
