    I was lucky enough to have it in the unlocked position, way easier to take it out. And the emulator works like a charm, it has a built in unlocking sound😂

    I have a 2012 c250 it doesn’t have the screws on the back side of the steering wheel for the air bag assembly. It has 2 indentations. But they are not open. I think some are spring loaded. Do I need to poke in those indentations?

    great video and sure did learned so much and got me thinkin while mine is still functioning normal , i'd like to uninstall the ESL and zip tied and plugged so should it fail in the future it'll be less headache to replace.... question , is this ok with the electronics like will not harm the ESL board , I know it will disable the steering locking capability but that's ok with me.

    • @mercedesbenzspecialist

      That is a very smart pro active move. I suggest that if you have a w204 chassis vehicle that you do exactly this. Prevent the headache of having to remove the entire steering column. You can go a step further. Replace the ESL with an ESL emulator before it fails. That way, you will not be left stranded with a non functioning ESL. I broke my only key so I bought a matching Key+Module on ebay. Now I get message "Key being initialized Please Wait.

    • @mercedesbenzspecialist

      That module you bought on eBay needs to be programmed to your car. The security data in the used module from eBay doesn't match the security data from your car. That's why that message appears. It won't work until it's programmed. We can program it for you. Give us a call. 818 510 3375

    Hi there, I want a second opinion, I got an emulator installed already and the mechanic said I don't need to remove the old OEM ESL since it's in unlocked position. Is this true? Is there any chance it can surprisingly get locked?

    • @mercedesbenzspecialist

      I always recommend removing it for safety. If the gears inside are broken, the vibrations of the road could eventually lead to a locked ESL. Imagine that locking up while you're driving. Not good.

    • @continuouscompounding

      @@mercedesbenzspecialist So my situation is that it locked once, and then after wiggling steering wheel, it worked fine again. The next 6 key inserts it worked fine, so the mechanic swapped in the emulator with ESL still inside. Now that the cable is no longer attached, there is no electricity going to it. Given the ESL is in unlocked position always when you drive it, wouldn't you say it shouldn't suddenly go locked by itself just from vibration alone? That would be a massive design flaw. The gears shouldn't be broken, but the motor is on its last leg. Do u think vibrations can really lead to the motor moving and turning that gear? There is also a black thing inside, does that do anything to stop it from accidently rotating? I'm actually super open minded, I need to be able to drive my car so I got it done with emulator for now. I don't mind after a month and I get less busy and taking out the ESL on my own.

    • @mercedesbenzspecialist

      IF the gears were broken the risk is there. It may not be probable, but it is possible. Spend a couple of hours and get it out. For your safety and the safety of others. It’s the responsible thing to do.

    is it safe to use this emulator? is it secure against theft?

    • @mercedesbenzspecialist

      Yes it is safe to use. In fact it’s more reliable than the factory lock.
      As far as security, losing the factory lock is not a significant loss in security. In fact some models of Mercedes like the S, CL, SL, GL, ML classes, don’t even have steering locks.
      You can’t start the car without a working key.

      Can I ask, what will happen if the emulator fails, does that also prevent the car from starting

    • @mercedesbenzspecialist

      Yes, the car would not start if the Emulator failed. However, the Emulator is many times more reliable than the factory lock. We have sold over 2700 programmed emulators only two have been returned for warranty replacement in both cases the battery was jumped the old-fashioned way with cables hooked up to another vehicle. You should never jump the battery of a Mercedes this way. Instead use a jumper pack or a trickle charger.
