I’ve bass fished my entire life and honestly didn’t learn a ton of information in this video, but I wanted to point out why I can always still watch (and enjoy) your content. There is absolutely ZERO condescending in any of your videos towards those who may not understand what we have learned. You want to teach, you enjoy teaching, and you are great at it. There is nothing wrong with not knowing something, and an old angler like me (or you) knows that you can learn something new that improves your fishing from anyone. I believe that is why you just tell the facts, spill the secrets, and are so sincere. Keep up the great work, praying for you guys.
SO Valuable. Thank you. Vids about location are precious. Prepping for my first tourney ever at 62, on Chick. Using my Lakemaster maps to learn as much as I can both on and off water Thank you.
I just got a Garmin 7cv this season and I have to drive around and make my own maps😂 nah can’t complain it was a good deal and the mapping is really fun
As an entry level & first time boat owner this sort of series is something I need. Not just to catch more fish, but to understand more of what im seeing on my maps. I have been studying depth maps before I head out to the 4 lakes ive tested my magic at. And Im at least pinpointing where I believe the bass will be with the weather & time of year. But to take that and advance on it is what will take me to the next level. I ran and got a Striker 9sv and thew it on the bow since it didnt have a second unit. And just by doing that it allow me to see some immediate changes in contours and depths at my finger tips. That alone has helped. But like someone else has commented, its definitely overwhelming at times. But with more practice success will soon follow.
What a great way to teach videos to people with and without good mapping or any at all. This should definitely be a video series where every season or month you break down random lakes from fans? Even as a tournament Co-Angler using the HummingBird One-Boat Network, has helped me identify where we are at fishing and what it should look like underneath the boat. May take some time to take your phone out and look but, to understand what the boater is looking at really helps me at least, dial into what I should and shouldn't be fishing.
@tacticalbassin can’t wait for the next how to catch the biggest fish in your lake seminar this year I watch every one at the start of fall and still come away with great info I’m catching 5-7lb Northern largies in my local lake where nothing bigger than 8lbs has ever been caught I think that proves you guys know what your talking about keep up the great work guys appreciate it
This is something as a kayak angler primarily that I struggle with. So having a good video to help me understand this is worth it’s weight in gold! I plan on getting out this weekend and just taking 4 or 5 hours to map out the main body of water I fish. Thank you Matt! Now another question would be how to apply these spots and decide what bait to throw
I have been trying to teach myself for the past couple of years how to develop patterns with the map and how to judge the wind and time of day and it’s overwhelming sometimes. Thanks Matt, and Tim, for sharing a fraction of your knowledge of the sport for people like me that is trying to better themselves in the sport!! 🎣
I’m a map reader from the military, but learned a lot more from this video. I’ve been waiting for someone who knows what they’re talking about to make one. Great video, and great job on explaining it in dummy terms for people like me 🤣🤣
20:52 you also can look a little bit before that time stamp and see the contour lines in real life from the flow and erosion naturally to better see and understand what they re
Hey Matt, I fish from a kayak and I would love to have a detailed map like the one you use. Can you recommend a Hummingbird model fish finder that I could add the detailed mapping to that I can run on my kayak?
Don't have a boat but use apps a lot. Always thought it would be nice to plug in the wind direction for that day and have that imported right to the map to be more visual while looking at it. Don't know if that is a thing but if not it should be
Gotta admit. I've never had a lake map in my hands. I'm the guy who has always fished ponds or on the bank. This year I finally got my boat onto big water and I'm lost on finding fish
Matt this was great info, I know this may sound like a stupid request but could you go into more detail about how you go about figuring out which banks will be hit or protected by the wind while on the water? I struggle with that part
Livescope has taken all the need to learn, develop skills & techniques out of the equation...the days of technique specific talent & skills are pretty much gone, and tournament results are showing this...Anyone can win any tournament at any given lake, at any time because of technology, not skill/talent....the true bass pros, would enjoy a video like this
Love the video. ??? Does the Apex unit Provide much finer detail on the screen vs. the Solix units you used to have??? Not that I'll be buying anymore, but I just really want to know. My boat has 2 Solix units. Thanks Matt.
I’d do anything to go out and see how someone locates and builds a pattern. Chick is my home lake and I tournament fish out of a kayak. I do struggle to connect the dots and put all the pieces together. I feel like I wind up junk fishing 90% of the time and never actually finding a pattern and capitalizing on it.
Any advice on setting the depth offset for a body of water that have tides? Do i adjust every so often or pick an average level and keep it. So the map highlights work better.
Hello, do you know the 'Get ENC' service? I bought an electronic map of the Florida coast there for half a dollar. These guys have recently appeared and are selling maps at cost price.
Im the same way, i cant stand when a guy tries to tell me spots and how to fish a lake. I appreciate his thought to help, but 90% of dock talk is BS. I will listen to how to run the lake or like what end of the lake is clean or dirty, but thats it. I dont want to know anything about fishing. I want to go out and break it down and not have someone else's history making decisions for me
There are lots of them videos in there ch and website to go back on to watch. An they are talking about it in almost every video for a few weeks back into spring coming up next year even if it’s only a 1-2 mins here and there in the video. Hope it helps you get what you are needing you just have to pay really close attention on some videos.
You just took the scare out of seeing and knowing what I see 👍😃
Thanks

👏👏 Awesome job Matt, I loved this video ❤👍

Extremely helpful. Thank you Matt.
We definitely need more of this type of videos.. and how to tie this information to baits and techniques. And how to use paper maps more
Lol the Kingfisher that flies through the scene at 3:45
That gray on the skeeter is sick!

I appreciate you making a video on mapping. I found it extremely helpful.
Thank you valuable information saving me time putting more fish in the boat!
Thanks a lot Matt
I agree 100%. It's obvious some of these guys don't use their mapping by what I see them running over with their big motor

Great information, thanks
It is a very good thing for us that Matt do not know the meaning of 'keep it simple.' Thanks Matt.
Thank you!

Great video, one I will have to watch again and again. Like the idea about setting a specific depth colour.
Very helpful video
thank you for the great tips and advice 🎣
Always excellent and informative information! Thank you for teaching us in a full and understanding way!
This is an amazing video i gained so much information from this we need more like this please
Thank you, Matt.
You're Welcome 😊
I like your attitude. Great information. Bassmd
Make some videos on simple but essential stuff, Spooling reels, etc. some people want to see how you guys set up your stuff.
I swear, you guys just make stuff that's usually confusing for me, make perfect sense.

Stil got to catch fish in the first place to find a pattern. Awesome vid
Your story about the mapping reminds me of one specific creek arm on Lake Hudson in Oklahoma.

The competition of all videos earns a PHD in bass fishing
Love the video, very informative. I'm hoping that you'll do a review on the Shimano Poison Ultima.
great video. back to basics

After watching this I think I’m ready to get one
One of your most helpful videos. Doesn’t do any good to have the right baits if you’re not near fish
Thanks Matt for showing us tips on the maps and electronics . Great video!
😁🤙
LMFAO 00:54 looking at you, Mr. Blaukat 😂😂😂
Amazing stuff, when you are at this level you are serious about catching fish.
How did you not react to those two bugs that flew by you?
Bird
Great video !!!

Do you find that smaller lakes (500-1000 acres) are more about spots rather than patterns?
Gotta admit. I've never had a lake map in my hands. I'm the guy who has always fished ponds or on the bank. This year I finally got my boat onto big water and I'm lost on finding fish

Man, I kinda miss the days of the paper map from the gas station!

Do you still do guide trips?
I'm potentially moving to Tennessee in a month or so. Close to Knoxeville.. where would you recommend I look for a place to live?

Paper is where I’m from they can have the rest paper is best
How come you don't talk about how to catch bass when the weather changes TacticalBassin?

There’s tons out there. Why don’t you make one?
@@brianpierson7708 I know that. Fishing has been difficult lately even when it's an overcast day in my state the fish are not biting for some reason.
