Tim, Great refresher on lines. TB Has earned my respect and trust over the last 8 years. ¿¿¿Will you please give us a video on how you ty the knots you use for the different lines with terminal tackle and braid the leader??? Also, would you give us Your favorite leader lengths different applications. Thanks, guy
P-Line Floroclear is a solid budget friendly line. I’ve used it for years and I have a lot of confidence in it. I’ve also learned that it is equally important to tie good knots and retie your lures every so often because of abrasion. Tight lines y’all!!!
Also, try Izorline XXX and Gamma Polyflex in like diameters, same as Sufix Elite. These lines will compare well with Floroclear price and performance wise, and offer some other advantages.
I use it for heavier line, like 17-20lb+, but it’s abrasion resistance is terrible with lighter line sizes compared to other brands like sunline and seagar. I would strongly suggest not using any light line that they make. It will shred on wood and your connection knots will fail quicker. Seagar and sunline can fish through wood all day without a scratch, but I’ve frayed p-line just sinching a uni knot down….
@@tagg946 - yep, for me Floroclear is for trout and panfish in open water areas. PLine CXX while not a fluoro, is as tough and strong as any line out there, aside some fluoro having a tougher/harder outer shell and resisting abrasion better.
Tim & Matt, I just recently got back into bass fishing after a 20 year hiatus. I've learned so much from your videos in the last couple months, I actually can approach a lake or pond with confidence that I can catch fish. Keep up the great content, I appreciate y'all sharing the knowledge.
When spider wire came out it changed the game. It was strong and affordable. . They just stopped caring in the product amd put out plastic like trash in fancy boxes
Yeah, I bought spider wire twice, once it was fine, but one time I bought a 50 pound line and tested how strong it was. It broke around 20lbs, when most line tests a few pounds above what it is rated for
I can't get enough of yall's videos. They are a breath of fresh air in this crazy world. Thank you for the time and effort you both put into them. God bless.
I’ve been using the Daiwa J braid for years and love it. I switched to their samurai fluorocarbon last year and have really like it too. It seems to have better abrasion resistance.
I loved the j-braid for a long time but the suffix 131 is rounder and slicker so it doesn't screech as loud when pulled over weeds and pulled hard through open water.
As a bank angler, I’ll spend the money on lines I’m using for pitching or short casts. I use a backing and then will put on the premium line because even if I snag, break off I barley have any line out so the premium line will last longer. Now when it comes to long casts or treble baits I’ll go to a budget line because snags from the bank are tougher to get back. So I’ll go through line quicker and will be changing lines up a lot sooner than my pitching rod.
Berkley fluoroshield is a great co polymer. At the beginning of the year I caught a 16lbs Buffalo on 12lbs line. When I got it in I checked the line and it was nicked so bad. It was nicked in 7 different places, and It still held up to a big heavy powerful fish like a Buffalo.
I love when you guys bring up solid information for all levels of anglers. I’m always sharing your channel with new anglers and this type of stuff takes time to learn and summing up saves time. Knowledge is power!
I've been using 15# Power Pro yellow to 10# Trilene XL. Great setup for river Smallmouth. Best part, is the knots really hold with this combo. Mono leader helps me, more forgiving, especially when not very clear.
These are great. I especially love the line ones. My hookup to land ratio has improved watching you guys, due to line only no other equipment changes. The one line you mentioned I have had a bad experience with is Maxcuratro. It would break considerably more than regular PowerPro or KastPro. Maxcuratro reminded me of Spider Wire with breakage issues. BTW, SpiderWire was the first braid I tried, and last time for Spider Wire. I'm not sure why, but I don't have that problem with regular PowerPro, KastPro, or Seagar Smack Down braided lines. I re-tie religiously, too. I use the Palomar or San Diego Jam knot depending on Lure. I'm currently using Seagar Smack Down Hi-Vis Braid, KastKing Kastpro braid, Seagar Inviz-X FC, Daiwa Samaria FC, and Berkley Big Game Mono. I try to support my local tackle shop that does reel service & repair. He keeps the bulk spools. Thanks again for these tips 🍺🎣
One of the most underrated braided lines is P-Line TCB braid. It has a teflon coating for additional abrasion resistance, it barely loses any color, and it is hydrophobic, meaning it does not absorb water making it great for ice fishing too. I used it almost exclusively last season and had 0 breaks.
This year, I purchased a Kastking Zephyr BFS baitcaster to throw some smaller lures ( small bass in Northern Illinois, so, small lures) and I paired it with a co-polymer 6 lb test line. Now, I cant totally blame the line, but, the reel was letting any loops on the spool get between the spool and inner side plate, and damaging it to the point where it broke a few times ( I returned the reel) but, the line seemed to have less stretch than the same weight mono and held a knot well, so I can't criticize it too much. I went back to throwing the same lures on a 1000 series spinning reel with 8 to 10 lb braid ( I use a few different brands) but I wish the BFS reel was designed better. I do use a lot of braid to fluoro for bottom baits, and I appreciate the lack of stretch in both of them.
I’ve been using a Flourocarbon coated copolymer line for years. It’s strong and is 1/3 less than straight Flourocarbon. I don’t find it has the mono stretch to it. It doesn’t seem as rough as straight Flourocarbon and it doesn’t backlash as easy as Flourocarbon. I was surprised you don’t like using it. Excellent information in this video. Looking forward to the buyers guides videos.
Same here. I use it probably 90% of the time and don’t get break offs. I’ve caught multiple double digit bass and huge catfish on it. My hooks fail before my line.
Pline premium CX is my go to line. Incredible knot strength. CXX also has fantastic knot strength but is more wirey and bigger overall diameter. But that stuff is super super strong. When you get snagged it's very difficult to intentionally break off the bait even with 10# line!! CX premium is way more supple and casts amazing. I can't say enough good things about Pline co polymer.
Thank you for all your wisdom and knowledge from your lifetime experience! You and Matt have taught me so much and I've landed so many fish using your tips and tricks. Thank you!
I have been using Beyond braid for over a year and have had 0 issues. I use 40lb for chatterbait in the CA Delta. and 60lb for punching. Never had it break yet through toolies logs ect.
Hey Tim and Matt. I have been wondering. How many double digit fish have each of you guys caught? or do yall even keep up with it. Love the content you guys are the best. Cant wait for the Buyers guides! Good Luck on the water and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
Great vid Tim.I didn"t now about 131 think i will lool inti it.Gamma has been my braid for 10 years now.Its crazy how terible braid was 25 years ago, flat with frays. Its off topic but line watching those coils when deadsticking a worm was huge this year.ran into a lot of shallow fish and if you didnt drop your rod tip and watch you missed out.
I throw the drt tk and 9 and the wcz citizen and battleshad 6/7 on durabraid and daiwa samurai floro combo for saltwater bass no issue. Try braid to leader for your big baits
Tim, thanks for the video. Do you think braided line, with its extreme strength and no stretch specifications will contribute to future shoulder injuries in anglers?
spiderwire stealth 50/65 lb test 10/15 lb test for finesse. berkley trilene big game 10/20 and then some fc for leader line if i want. thats just what i like, makes it easy to choose with all the lines out there. spend more time fishing and less time thinking lol
Great video as always, Tim. Forgive me if I missed it in the video but any suggestions for line when the temps are below freezing? Do you use a specific type of line?
It's not "as normal", it's a totally different schedule this year. But Buyer's Guides start TOMORROW and we've restructured the order to match the sales as they come 👍🏼
tim i noticed you pulled out a spool of the flipping fc. i have been using it for about five years, really like being able to see my line but it does retain a lot of memory
when your thowing braid and you have the drag locked down, you catch a fish and you have cut through on the spool when the outer layer digs into the the under layer and birds nest? was it not spooled on correctly or was it the wrong type of braid?
Appreciate the line information. How long of a leader are you using when going braid to fluoro on a big swimbait? Are you sending the double blood knot through the eyes?
A cool video touched all the basics. I wish you guys would have talked about line conditioner if you use it? Which ones you recommend if you do.But good video overall 👍🏼
I have questions regarding line, specifically light fluorocarbon ( 6 lb test and lighter), what knot are you using for connecting to the lure? Also I tend to have trouble getting good braid to leader knots with these lighter sizes, is the 9 turn blood knot still what you use for these sizes?
Hey guys this video really has gotten me thinking. I switched to Fluor super sniper this year 12lb and 16lb as leader to braid for tubes and jigs. I kept snapping baits off at the knot with hook sets though. I switched back to maxima green mono and no issues with hook sets. But now I’m getting break offs due to abrasion from logs and dock posts. Should I go heavier mono or try fluro again with a different knot. I use a Palomar and lubricate it when tightening. Once again thanks and been a fan for years first time to ever comment.
Alot of the guys fishing the great barrier reef won't use floro, mono works better for shock leader. If your breaking knots with either on bass, you should loosen up a little, or change style of knot. I personally use a fg for leader to braid and won't use anything else, (especially a double uni). I caught alot of fish this year with life threatening damage to their face. No need to be doing this where I live.
how long do you run floro leader on braid? ive been doing this for about 15 years, after learning about putting a "topshot" on a spool of braid for ocean fishing. i try to start with about two rod lengths of floro then straight to braid with a J knot. 4 and 6lb leader for ultra clear water(and 50+ feet deep!) in diamond vally lake in southern California
Hey guys, great video! Wanted to ask a question, what is the best braid for casting long distance top water that does not absorb a lot of water for bass fishing in Florida?
How about recommending an all around line for us guys that go fishing with just one or two poles!! I don’t have 10 poles all set up for specific techniques.
Daiwa J-braid 8x 20-50lbs straight braid no leaders for baitcasters. Works fine for me in all environments from clear creeks/rivers/lakes to black water. With all braid you just have to put up with line twisting around the tip of your rod constantly, inline swivels help but I hate having to use extra gear. Lately I started using non swivel snap clips for faster lure changes without having to retie constantly, loving it so far! I only use 4 poles. One piece 6' Light Fish Hawk rod with ultra light Pflueger presidential reel (not a fan), 10lb 8x J-braid. Two piece 6.6' medium fast 2500 Daiwa LT reel/rod combo, 20lb 8x J-braid I use these 2 rods when wading in rivers and creeks, with the 2 piece strapped to my backpack most of the time. Bank fishing, or in my boat I mainly use these 2 rods, but bring all 4 in the boat. 7' medium heavy fast baitcaster abu garcia promax/vengeance rod combo, 20lb 8x J-braid 7 medium heavy bass proshops rod with Daiwa ct100, 30lb 8x J-Braid Next year I will be switching to all Daiwa reels and maybe rods to.
Sincere thanks to you commenters that use straight braid. I would like to hear more about this! With all the controversy about lines and leaders, I am seriously considering trying straight braid instead of braid to fluoro leaders like I use now-but I still have some concerns about it. If any of you would care to elaborate on your setups, applications, and experiences using straight braid for other than top waters, it would be most appreciated!!!’
What are your thoughts on using backing? In an attempt to save a little money, using a cheap mono to take up space on the spool so you’re not using so much braid or fluorocarbon. Do you use it? How much backing would you put on?
It’s so variable by reel. I use a line counter on the main line to home in on how much backing will give me the main line length to fill the spool to the level I want while also providing the casting distance plus a margin. Start with a lot of backing, tie on the main line, load the spool to the level you want and check the yardage of main line you just put on, without cutting the new main line. If you didn’t add the yardage you want, wind the main line back onto its spool by whatever method you have, and remove more backing. It’s a PIA, but once you’re set up on that reel you can really economize on how many loads you get out of each spool. But I’d love to know a better way to dial it in, especially with loading braid over mono backing!
Great video, is it ever ok to throw straight braid? I’m mostly on lake mead which often has 30-40 ft clear visibility. Is there ever a time or technique I can just throw straight braid and not worry about the leader?
The Maxcuatro sounds like exactly like what I need on my weed/grass infested lake. Might the abrasive nature of this line cause a higher level of wear on line guides though?
Are you guys changing the buyer’s guide videos because TW changed the Black Friday sale? I’m not sure I’m a fan of the new sale because if you miss a week you can’t get those items on sale anymore. I’d rather they have the 20 percent off around Thanksgiving and then do the 12 days of Christmas sale. I feel like I was able to get more stuff on sale the old way. With this new sale if I have a lot of bills to pay a certain week, I just miss the sale for that week. I’ve already missed one and I might have to miss the fishing line sale this week too.
We've done some rearranging for sure to get key information when it is most helpful. The buyer's guides start tomorrow! 🙂 Sorry Bout the missed sale segments. We missed one as well but we're all learning and adapting as we go. All the big ones are still out in front so we'll see how it went once it's all over.
You also miss out on free shipping with this new sale because you don’t need $50 worth of one item. I need new line but by the time I pay shipping, I might as well buy in a local shop.
What is the different between fluorocarbon line and fluorocarbon shock leader? For the price point, I’ve seen that fluorocarbon line is much cheaper than the fluorocarbon shock leader. Thanks
You should try the braided PE line coming from the industry leader of braided Ice Line line leader Woodstock Line Company its called WICKED SLICK. NO FADE color, great feel.
Tim, there're few things that you're saying that are not true. And I bet you haven't tested them yourself 😊. Firstly, fluorocarbon is also a monofilament. Also, nylon doesn't float, it sinks but just not as quick as fluorocarbon. Nylon is just as invisible/visible under water as fluorocarbon. It has to do with the surface of the material that makes it visible (round and shiny) Nylon is superior in abrasion resistant to fluorocarbon. Nylon keeps it's knot strength after being under stress (fighting a fish, stuck at the bottom), where fluorocarbon can lose up to 20% . Fluorocarbon leader line and regular fluorocarbon are exactly the same, just far more expensive. Btw, I love your channel 😉
I want to pick up fishing again. I noticed a lot has changed since the 90 with lines.... I want to respool my old reels with new lines, but line specs are so different now.... let's take an example... reel speced for 0.3mm 180m 8lb to 0.4mm 100m 15lbs , but if I look at braided line 0.3mm, braided line is alike a 22kg line nowadays, and even a 0.14 line is still something like 6.8kg but I guess you would need like 300+ meters of the stuff to fill a spool.... I am so confused.
Both are awesome reels, they're also very different. If you need a direct answer now we'll be happy to talk through all the details, just let us know. But spoiler alert... buyer's guides start tomorrow and Wednesday's video will really help you make that decision. So if you want to wait you can do that too.
Good base class...while I know it's not really possible to list all of the available brands/models within their lineup - you are missing mono/copolymer lines from major players like PLine,Yozuri, Sunline, Gamma... Braid whether fused, extruded, multi-strand, is endless. Specialty lines from YGK and Daiwa Samurai are missing from your list. Lesser known lines like Tuf-line, Phenix Rods, PLine, Spro, are also very good lines. Fluoro is the same, there is Daiwa's new fluoro, Yozuri's T7, Gamma, Tatsu, PLine, Trilene... In the end, can't cover it all, but it would be good to see more than just PP, Sunline, Sufix, Maxima on the list. BTW... thanks for "flashing" da Daiwa Steez CT. ;-) Excellent base class on lines, thanks Tim!
@tacticalbassin no complaints here. Thanks.. question when u do the next swimbait video can u cover snaps and swivels. And if and when u should use them
Where can you get that large Plano line storage box? I would love to get those to organize all my lines spools at home, but can't find anything like it on the Plano site. Can you tell me where to get one?
Probably a stupid question, but if I am running braid and have a heavy/extra fast rod and use mono as a leader,-would that in essence slow it down closer to a fast action since mono stretches?
Tim great vid and great info I wish it would have came out a couple days ago. Just yesterday I had a freaking hawg break me off yesterday. I made the perfect skip to a lay down tree and he hit it and when I set the hook I couldn't move him .now I'm not gonna say it was a wall mounted but it definitely was a PB I could tell that by its weight
Mostly fish straight fluoro and second braid. Connection knots are just another place of potential failure. Can’t stand power pro , had 50 lb snap way too often. Lots of better braids out there
That would depend entirely on the specific lines in question. They can be formulated many different ways. For example, we use stretchy fluorocarbon as leader material but would not use it as a mainline, except for select crankbait applications.
In my experience fluoro is trash that snaps instantly on me every time I hook set or get snagged, zero stretch. You couldn't pay me to use that stuff ever again.
I use 20 and 30LB braid, even 50 on one Shimano for my umbrella rig, on a few baitcasters, mostly for larger jigs, and I only have one reel with braid that seems to bind the line on a cast, so I will blame the reel more than the line. One good thing is, unlike mono, the braid usually doesn't snap when that happens.
If you fish 1/2 oz reaction baits for bass on a MH rod. 40lb Seagur Smackdown all day. Casts great, thin, literally got snagged and pulled the gear off a crankbait because it wouldn't snap.
I use big game for everything and I stopped breaking fish off and I feel the bites fine. 15 lb-20 lb for heavy cover. 12 for moving stuff. 8 for finesse or Jerkbaits. Fluorocarbon is also horrible for the environment. I change my line out a lot regardless of what line I'm using. I save piles of cash for fancy baits and rods and reels by not using fluorocarbon. Learning to detect bites is a skill and line type has always had very little to do with it. 😎😎😎

Great video as always! How about telling/showing which knots you use on your different applications. And Braid to Leaders. Thanks!
How long do you make your leader? So if you're deep cranking, how long of a leader do you use? Vs. Ned rig in 10-15' water?

I love spiderwire durabraid. Caught so many calico bass on it with no issue. Going on a year spooled and holds up and cast well

Thanks Timi! Really appreciate this run through. I'm very surprised i don't see a Texas Rig Specialty here. Just to take a little more note on it.

Seagaur is my favorite.
Still the only company (as far as I know) that makes thier own resins for their floro. Everything is in house.
It all comes down to preference and how you fish. It's all about give and take with your decisions.
Great video as always, Tim. Forgive me if I missed it in the video but any suggestions for line when the temps are below freezing? Do you use a specific type of line?

A cool video touched all the basics. I wish you guys would have talked about line conditioner if you use it? Which ones you recommend if you do.But good video overall 👍🏼
I have questions regarding line, specifically light fluorocarbon ( 6 lb test and lighter), what knot are you using for connecting to the lure? Also I tend to have trouble getting good braid to leader knots with these lighter sizes, is the 9 turn blood knot still what you use for these sizes?
j knot, and berkley knot or polamar, check both to see what is stronger
Thanks a bunch I learned a lot! -Steve Day, Rossville GA
Could be the knot you are tying. Flouro has a terrible knot strength compared to mono
Don’t use a Palomar knot with Flouro. Will break at the knot every time.
Improved clinch knot with Seaguar Invisx hasn’t let me down in 20 years.
Im going braid to mono quality lines
how long do you run floro leader on braid? ive been doing this for about 15 years, after learning about putting a "topshot" on a spool of braid for ocean fishing. i try to start with about two rod lengths of floro then straight to braid with a J knot. 4 and 6lb leader for ultra clear water(and 50+ feet deep!) in diamond vally lake in southern California
Hey guys, great video! Wanted to ask a question, what is the best braid for casting long distance top water that does not absorb a lot of water for bass fishing in Florida?
Sufix 131 is the best we've found.
Thank you guys, as you are always so nice to respond and actually give answers. I truly appreciate you!!!!@@tacticalbassin
How about recommending an all around line for us guys that go fishing with just one or two poles!! I don’t have 10 poles all set up for specific techniques.
P line premium CX co polymer. 12#. Power pro 50# for frogs. Tie a good knot and go!!
Two piece 6.6' medium fast 2500 Daiwa LT reel/rod combo, 20lb 8x J-braid
I use these 2 rods when wading in rivers and creeks, with the 2 piece strapped to my backpack most of the time.
Bank fishing, or in my boat I mainly use these 2 rods, but bring all 4 in the boat.
7' medium heavy fast baitcaster abu garcia promax/vengeance rod combo, 20lb 8x J-braid
7 medium heavy bass proshops rod with Daiwa ct100, 30lb 8x J-Braid
Next year I will be switching to all Daiwa reels and maybe rods to.
Hey Tim what knot are you using for your braid to leader?
Do people still back mono with braid on bait caster reels ?
I do
What are your thoughts on using backing? In an attempt to save a little money, using a cheap mono to take up space on the spool so you’re not using so much braid or fluorocarbon. Do you use it? How much backing would you put on?
The only time i dont use backing is bfs,or my aldebarans because they are small spools.
@@lpbass8369 thanks. How much do you typically use?
These guys said they go straight braid when using frog baits.
are these suffix 131 better than PP slick on a spinnig reel for distance
Tim or Matt, would it be okay for me to use copolymer for swimbaits also?
powerpro superslick8 is my favorite.
80lbs the best for muskie
Quality content!!!
The Maxcuatro sounds like exactly like what I need on my weed/grass infested lake. Might the abrasive nature of this line cause a higher level of wear on line guides though?
Just bought a rod that say tactical bass rod ex-h 7’4 moderate. Good looking rod for guide bait.
Lol wtf
Sorry Bout the missed sale segments. We missed one as well but we're all learning and adapting as we go. All the big ones are still out in front so we'll see how it went once it's all over.
I agree 100percent
You also miss out on free shipping with this new sale because you don’t need $50 worth of one item. I need new line but by the time I pay shipping, I might as well buy in a local shop.
What is the different between fluorocarbon line and fluorocarbon shock leader? For the price point, I’ve seen that fluorocarbon line is much cheaper than the fluorocarbon shock leader. Thanks
The amount of stretch in shock leader and ability to resist becoming brittle over repeat stretches. Comes from the salt water world.
It has to do with the surface of the material that makes it visible (round and shiny)
Nylon is superior in abrasion resistant to fluorocarbon.
How do you tell when to change braid?
What line for deep diving cranks ? !!
Hey guys, I'm planning on buying the legend extreme 7" spinning. Should I pair it it a stella or exsence?
Stella is heavier than the exsense.
Stella has a Much better gearing 😊😊
Both are awesome reels, they're also very different. If you need a direct answer now we'll be happy to talk through all the details, just let us know. But spoiler alert... buyer's guides start tomorrow and Wednesday's video will really help you make that decision. So if you want to wait you can do that too.
@@tacticalbassin I'm leaning towards the exsense all I'll start doing some saltwater. But I'll wait on the guides.
What braid strength should I use for a large swimbait and umbrella rig setup using a 400 sized reel
Hope the swimbait isn't very expensive! 😂 I lost a Megabass glide using braid & never will use braid again on any big baits
20-25 floro
Do you ever use a line conditioner?
BTW... thanks for "flashing" da Daiwa Steez CT. ;-)
Excellent base class on lines, thanks Tim!
Am I the only person who saw this video yesterday .. Great video as always
No 🙂 You caught a glitch that was quickly remedied. But since you commented we'll give you another head start... Buyer's Guides start tomorrow! 🎣
Menards has them. It’s a midwest equivalent to Home Depot or Lowe’s. Not sure if there’s online sales?
Trilene big game is awesome
Fluorocarbon is so expensive these days. Would you recommend spooling 8-10lb mono for backing and then to Fluoro?
I scrolled down through the comments. And it got answered to the affirmative. Thanks.
When I was leaving the comment yesterday the display showed there was a server error.
It happens?
Probably a stupid question, but if I am running braid and have a heavy/extra fast rod and use mono as a leader,-would that in essence slow it down closer to a fast action since mono stretches?
No. There’s literally micro amounts of stretch in such a short line.
Bought stock in sunline
Tim great vid and great info I wish it would have came out a couple days ago. Just yesterday I had a freaking hawg break me off yesterday. I made the perfect skip to a lay down tree and he hit it and when I set the hook I couldn't move him .now I'm not gonna say it was a wall mounted but it definitely was a PB I could tell that by its weight
What are your thoughts on the P5 Mark 56?
Mostly fish straight fluoro and second braid. Connection knots are just another place of potential failure. Can’t stand power pro , had 50 lb snap way too often. Lots of better braids out there
Tip: if line twisted let out behind boat and drag it across the water it will straighten out!
Fluorocarbon and Monofilament actually have almost the same amount stretch according to test done
@@riverpirate1022 good knots and making sure they are wetted can really help for breaking off on hooksets
Does 20lb braid bind into itself on a bait caster?
I use 20 and 30LB braid, even 50 on one Shimano for my umbrella rig, on a few baitcasters, mostly for larger jigs, and I only have one reel with braid that seems to bind the line on a cast, so I will blame the reel more than the line. One good thing is, unlike mono, the braid usually doesn't snap when that happens.
Jbraid Grand is stand out braid. Better knot strength than Max Quattro. Regular Power Pro green is still great in heavy milfoil.
Love the content
Spro is extremely underrated floro
If you fish 1/2 oz reaction baits for bass on a MH rod. 40lb Seagur Smackdown all day. Casts great, thin, literally got snagged and pulled the gear off a crankbait because it wouldn't snap.
Man thought we got a bonus video yesterday 😂
Ha! That was a glitch... but the bonus videos start TOMORROW. Let the Buyer's Guides begin!!
Spider wire is like casting a guitar string through your guides.
you did not cover Copolymer is it inferior ? what are the pro. and con.
It is supposed to be like mono and fluorocarbon combined. Some properties of both, I use it for ice fishing and it's decent.
Hi-seas black widow is the best line ever
I use big game for everything and I stopped breaking fish off and I feel the bites fine. 15 lb-20 lb for heavy cover. 12 for moving stuff. 8 for finesse or Jerkbaits. Fluorocarbon is also horrible for the environment.
I change my line out a lot regardless of what line I'm using. I save piles of cash for fancy baits and rods and reels by not using fluorocarbon.
Learning to detect bites is a skill and line type has always had very little to do with it. 😎😎😎
The moment when you realize Tim has more money in line in his boat than you have tackle...
