I saw him at the Albert Hall 2001. When he did this the whole audience was lifted to another level. Not only were my group of friends turning heads to each other but strangers around us were all turning in amazement and wonder, he bled that guitar. I was a tag along that night, only went because of the group but all these years later it is one of the most memorable nights of my life. I have always said that I would not want to go again in case it wasn’t that special-- they say never go back. Truly life enhancing. Thank you Eric. 😢
His playing and tone in 2001 was some of his best. I saw him down the front at the Albert Hall in 2009 and he was on fire the whole night. Even though he is the reason I play guitar which changed my whole life I never wanted to see him again either. It wouldn't match the seats and the magic I saw. At his best he's got a magic that no one can touch.

Ho visto un concerto quando era più giovane, certamente adesso ha 77 anni e comunque sempre emozionante rivederlo.
Pensavo, non tanto per aver pagato 150 euro che durasse un po di più di un'ora e mezza, ma probabilmente non se la
sentiva di suonare di più, visto i problemi di salute che ha avuto, direi che è sempre bravo ed unico nel suo genere.
C’è da dire che per l’età che ha era davvero in forma

Hem vingut de Barcelona, molts mesos d'espera, molts quilòmetres, molt de cansanci, però vist l'enorme recital que ens va regalar L'Eric arrossegandonos per terra hauríem vinguts. Veritablement ha valgut, la pena, l'espera, el cansanci, els quilòmetres, ho fariem mil vegades. Una nit inoblidable, moltíssimes gràcies, eternaments agraïts.

I am always sad when I hear Eric Clapton in the last 50 years. He was so wonderful when he played with Mayall or Jack Bruce. You just have to listen to the marvelous songs like Have You Heard, Strange Brew or Sitting on Top Of The World, among so many others. Here, he is playing like an average guitarist. Ok, after all the drugs and alcohol, he is the survivor, as mentioned in his biography.
i believe is just age. He is old. Last years of brain functioning at this level. Also he has lived 10 lives all these year in music industry. The fact that vocals are on spot and guitar sounds better than most of younger generation with triple of energy and passion to achieve something he is still someone that people go and pay to see play live! Lady in balcony show was i believe his last best performance., but 2022 and 2023 are very good for his age, and all the problems he has!

Go and watch a performance of this song from 2001 and say he is average. He's in his late 70s now, he still has the magic touch but isn't as good as he was (he's been better this year than the last couple.)
Loads of great songs in his solo career and even more incredible recorded live performances.
