Mmmm find it hard to argue that one. Astonishing artists in their own right. Together live well that's a showcase of brilliance. Two of the greatest artists/guitar players ever is alright with me mate 👍
I see MK the pianist and dums going drunk with EC solo, only if you are in a show of EC you can understand this feeling, I remember get drunk with his solos, it's like he put his pain of had a desgraceful life about not having a dad, his mom is his sister, and his son dying into blues, and then you disgrace cry too, and everybody soul cry together with pentatonic bends crying across stadiums.
You don`t have to be born poor to feel the blues. Clapton is still the best exponent of the art this country has ever produced, and he has experienced low points in his life. He discovered his Mum wasnt actually his Mum !, and he went through a deep depression in the late 60`s. He grew up listening to the blues greats on valve radio, like Robert Johnson, Barbecue Bob, Blind Lemon, and others. Anyone who says this guy aint qualified, just doesnt get it.
If I've ever seen a legendary band this is it! Clapton and Knopfler on guitars, Pino pallidino on bass, Jools Holland on keys and Phil Collins on drums - That's shit hot!
Always preferred his Fender Lace Sensor pickups as demonstrated so well here. Same as used on his 24 Nights concert. Must be great to be able to mesmerize a packed audience at the Royal Albert Hall
Well,.... after all that year's Eric is still standing straight up. The man did have to overcome a lot of drama. But.... still on the road and he still amazes me time after time. I'm 67 and I'm close to going back to mother nature. But if you ask me... Eric is the best guitarist of all time. My God, did he bring us pleasure or what ? SpeesCees@ august 2021
Honestly, I'd turn up just to hear EC sing - I've seen him a number of times since the early 80's, and he's never failed to deliver, vocally. I think he is criminally overlooked, for the gift of his rich, ever-mellower voice. Check the sheet music for his output - he can sing in any damn key he wants to!
Hew is not overlooked. He`s been considered the second best Guitarist in Rock , Pop and blues since he started Cream in 1966. He was only challenged by Jimi Hendrix during the late sixties and the year 1970. After Hendrix tragic death EC has then been the most influencial Guitarist of all time.
@@sellammar1 Please, read what I said. Yes, he's a fantastic, and very highly rated guitarist, and I have a great deal of his albums and have seen him several times. My point was about his VOICE. I said if ALL he did was sing, he should still be seen as one of the best voices in Rock & Blues.
You're so right. When it comes to large arena performances Ray Cooper is the percussion man - magical is the only word I can think to describe his playing - always giving a sense of presence and occasion.
Eric Clapton on lead, Phil Collins on drums and who knows who else on stage with these guys, so great to have stumbled across this, thank you. Love your show.
These guy's are my friends and have been for 50 years. The older we get the more polished we get. The rough edges left years ago, now it's just the music. Eric's solos have to be simplified. If he was playing his full potential the guitar would burst into flames
Hello 👋 Anna. How are you doing? Hope you are fine, I'm Mark Clifford and am from Denver Colorado. Where you are from? You seem like a real country girl
My only hope is that Mark Knopfler's in town that day. If he showed up to play with Mr. Clapton I will have checked two items off my bucket list at the same time. Pretty please.
I absolutely agree. That said, even if Mark were given more time (as he deserves) it wouldn't be a duel or a battle. Both artists have spent decades impressing each other and building strong mutual respect. If anything, they would each simply play their best, for the crowd and for the MUSIC itself, and each would encourage and motivate the other to be as amazing as possible. When you reach their level, it's no longer a contest; it's a collaboration.
Man , i just LOVE Eric Clapton .. He Always had GREAT Great Music , and this Live set was Incredible ..with ry Cooder , Mark Knopfler etc. could it get Better ?
This particular performance ripped my head open about the blues back in the day. I'll never forget it. They manage to summon something bigger than the individuals here. Magic.
i like how clapton has got better and better each year since the early 90's right through now in 2020. I think he plays much better1991-2020, than he did 1963-1990. And each year since 1991 to 2020 he has gotten better and better. Amazing. Goes to show what a great musician he is, and was. It was the alcohol that was holding him back all those years.
Blues is for the soul, It consumes you So beautiful, with so much emotion This video is so inspiring everyone on stage is possessed almost, by the blues So much love
15 September1997 Royal Albert Hall, Music for Montserrat concert, the Volcano had exploded there, near Sir George Martins Air Studios. So artists who had recorded there did this gig toy raise money to help the islanders. The show started with Carl Perkins and ended with Paul McCartney. I won a pair of tickets on a phone in, it was as star studded in the audience as well as on stage! A great night. The percussionist is Ray Cooper.
So good to hear great artists that gel to make music greater than the sum of the parts. All were fantastic, but I particularly enjoyed seeing Jules Holland ‘away with the music’. I used to enjoy hearing Eric Clapton & Ray Cooper at the Royal Albert Hall, but this is better.

There's another genius...Phil Collins play Drums☺
..plus Phl Collins, Jules Holland and the legendary Ray Cooper! Amazing.
I think there is one person missing, just think how great it would be for Knopfler and Clapton to share a stage with Peter Green...
Oh my!!! What a treat. You GO tambourine

The most amazing thing about this performance is how quiet and respectful the crowd is. A crowd in awe is the best crowd of all.

dude, mark is a beast, no pick, just his fingers and a whole lotta soul!

Phil's blues drumming feel is amazing. He hesitates on the beat just enough..

You know you're good when Knopfler is playing rythm for you.
You know you're an egotist when you won't even let Knopfler have a try at being lead.
