This is how to get a pirate dreadnought freighter in No Man's Sky! With the new Omega Update you are able to claim pirate dreadnaught freighters. They are massive freighters that look really freaking awesome. They use the same upgrades as normal freighters so it is easy to upgrade them as well. The more amazing part is that Pirate Dreadnaught freighters are free because you are taking them from their pirate captains, so you can get a really good pirate freighter for free!

I got my S class last night. Seeing how the dreadnought is armed to the teeth with anti freighter and ship cannons, I wish capital ship vs capital ship battles was a thing in NMS

Also you dont need to shoot the shield generators - just zoom and fly through them. They blow up nil damage to your ship.
*IMPORTANT NOTE* In order for the Pirate Dreadnaught to spawn AT ALL, you must already own a Freighter. The class level doesn't matter (C-S) but you have to already have one or no Pirate Dreadnaught for you. Weirdly, no one seems to ever mention this crucial detail.

To remember the system set a waypoint to it before making your restore point. If there is no freighter battle delete the waypoint and repeat. If there is a battle keep the waypoint there until you get the freighter you want.
Almost make me wish we can have more than 1 Freighter. 1 Freighter would be your Main and the others would be sub Freighters which you can send to other systems and can send out its own smaller ships that you give them on missions. Sub freighters can also attack or be attacked by other Freighters based on your own relationship of other races/pirates.
Already in the game. Sub-freighters are called frigates and you send them out on missions.

Hey, Jason! Just gonna let you know that you don’t have to reload from the restore point. You can reload from the auto save which will be from when you first entered the system. It auto saves the freight or battle when it starts and that way you don’t have to worry about remembering the system name and everything.

KhrazeGaming had a video and pointed out, after you stop the pirate dreadnaught, you can warp to a new system and back and the whole thing will reset, so, no needing to continue warping to new pirate systems once you find a dreadnaught you like.
I wish I knew that before I warped 15 times trying to get one.

Is there any Story Progression i need to Spawn one?
You need at least
- 3 hours of gameplay
- A pirate freighter will spawn every 5th warp jump
- make sure the 5 jump is going into a pirate system
- save on a planet in the 4 jump system to keep trying
200+ jump, proven by the 200+ "new" system I found. not a single pirate freighter. What am I missing? I finished the expedition, got all the reward (except community research, still at phase 4). 5+ hours straight in the last/current session on a single savefile, didn,t reload, didn't exit. Playing in multiplayer mode though it's been a while since I went so far nobody shows up anywhere. Still nothing. The most i've got are random CIVILIAN freighter under attack by small starship or a whole pirate fleet appearing AFTER ME and scanning me for whatever they want to steal. that's it.
Highest difficulty possible, about 4m ly away from the start of expedition omega. or so the game says. still not sure what that distance even means.
Am I missing anything? Did any of you do ANYTHING aside from the EXPEDITION milestones? Do you need your OWN freigther before this pirate one can appear? do you need to finish any questline? What does "progress the story" even means in this story-less game? Atlas? Anomaly? Center?
Or maybe I need to be the worst outlaw there is with all the milestone for it?
Or complete Voice of Freedom? It's pirate related, is this it?

The pirate dreadnought only spawns in specific pirate systems.
So you will have to look through those to find one.

found one under 1 hour. kept jumping between pirate systems till I found one.
defeated it, boarded, check stats, leave system then jump back again to "reroll" stats" till S class. the whole 3 hours thing is not necessary *(also make sure combat difficulty is ON)*
FYI you need to have played for three hours, it doesn’t matter if you have logged off, and 5 warps. On the 5th jump there will be a freighter battle. You should have made a restore point right before the 5th jump. To trigger another battle repeat from the beginning. The pirate freighter Jason has is only in outlaw systems.
DESTROY WARP ENGINES FIRST THEN THE ANTI-FREIGHTER WEAPONS THAT’S ALL YOU NEED TO DESTROY. JUST IGNORE THE SHEILD GENS AND ACTUALLY DESTROYING THE OTHER THINGS ON THE SHIP
You will not need the combat scanner only economy because it will tell you if it is a black market and they only occur in the aforementioned outlaw systems.

I'm not sure if you noticed, but while you were looking for the pirate systems, you skimmed over 3 or 4 pirate systems that were yellow and green. Not all pirate systems identify as high conflict for some reason. Great video
Saw in another video that the dreadnought won’t spawn if you dont already own a freighter.
C-class in pirate systems has a 85% spawn rate and S-class is 5%

First dreadnought seen, was looking for a new freighter so standard saving before warping. Jumped to a 3* system and into the fight, a nice A class to start with 😁
I got lucky and got an S class first try. Had barely any inventory space though
Cool you can get that freighter now. Wish the interior was completely different though.
Something I discovered is once you find a pirate system with a dreadnought battle you can use that system to spawn it constantly by warping in and out of the system. I used this before the update to farm for s class freighter upgrades and I used it now to get myself an s class pirate dreadnought. This method let's you get rewards for defeating the dreadnought that aren't s class while farming for your s class. If you don't care about getting rewards as you grind for it reloading is probably faster though
Here are some xbox updates...the anomaly can glitch and stop entry, so just travel to a new system and recall it. The refiner dup glitch works and will save you time on nanite farming and such. You can no longer duplicate upgrades at least in the expedition. You can duplicate small refiners lol so only make 2 to save mats. Sentinels are still broken and go stupid when you shoot from inside a building. This helps since my expedition backpack is bare. Good luck, Jplays Travelers

I've been in a pirate system all last night reloading the battle, felt like groundhog day....I'm in a battle.....again.
I'll be honest... the whole "You gotta play x amount of hours before something shows up" is bullshit. I'm a dad with 3 kids and just don't have time to sit down and play for 3 straight hours.

3 hours is really not that long dude...
It's not like you have to play for 3 hours each time. It's just once and every fifth warp there should be a battle. By the time you even get to the point that you can get a capital ship. You will already be more than 3 hours in.
if you don't have time to play a game for more then 3 total hours, why waste money buying games? Even the shortest games out there are at least 6 hours, but most games required 20-30 hours to beat while some far more. You bought a game that is open ended and can be played for hundreds to thousands of hours and your complaining about needing to play just 3 hours? if you played 30 minutes a day you'd be at 3 hours in 6 days. Again why are you playing games if you don't have 3 hours to put into one.

The game saves when you get into a freighter battle. You can just reload on that save until you get an S class. It worked for me.
Unless they've changed it, you can find the ship, land in the station there, and create your restore point from there, which saves you from jumping constantly.
It worked for the freighter I currently have, so I assume it would here.
i know for sure if you land on the station it instantly fails the encounter. i would assume it would also fail it if you land on a planet.

You can beat a dreadnaught and warp to a different system then back again and the encounter will reset along with the dreadnaught's level (C, B, A, or S).
@@Craxin01 But how do you know which class the Dreadnaught is ? You should land in it and scan it, right ?
@@charlesmatignon1068 Yup, and that means save scumming, as no freighter is a set class. The shape and coloration is set, but the class is randomized once you warp in. So, it could be C, it could be S, only way to know is to land on it and scan it. I've literally spent hours save scumming to get an S-class freighter.
3 steps to getting a dreadnought 1. Find one by warping around. 2. Shoot the back warp engines out preventing escape. 3. Destroy all anti freighter cannons you do not have to destroy the shields or anything else just those 2 pieces of equipment. Upon doing so you'll get a message saying they surrender and you can board them.
It's funny because I didn't even know about this beforehand and encountered one. First thing I did was went for the engines. Not even realizing I could take the freighter. After doing all of that, I did the rest and was pleasantly surprised that I got to go aboard and negotiate with the captain and I immediately took the freighter. It was an S class at that and I even hired the A-S class frigates, so now I own a massive pirate fleet. I have over 25 frigates. I just thought it was funny you said to take out the engines first and that's what I did immediately. I do that when I can in most space Sims because it really leaves the enemy ships like a sitting duck and they can't attack you without gimballed turrets or unless you fly directly in their LOS.
Nice, I like that you can upgrade for free, means you can take that first freighter in a new save and then upgrade to a pirate freighter later without piling up funds.

Found a dreadnaught first warp in a pirate system and kept reloading my autosave cause it autosaves when you enter the system til I got an S tier. So you don’t necessarily have to just warp jump to a different system. It took a couple of reloads but I finally got one just takes good RNG

You don’t have to play for 3 hours to get one. I started up my game. Warped to a pirate system and boom, right into battle.

I am going to make this my next mission. I will then work on getting a sweet base set up on mine, as if I don't have enough going on in NMS right now. 😉

stopped counting at 43, kept trying another 4 hours or so after that, unsure how many i actually did. in that time got 2 A's and 1 B, the rest were all C's. Finding them isn't the problem, getting it to spawn an S seems extremely rare. FAR more rare than getting an S starship.

O.K, So my max output on weapons is half of your output. Makes a huge difference apparently. Second, I think I will save the civilian fleet instead. Had an offer for an A class freighter capital ship for 130 million units. Only had 40 million at the time. Currently have a B class Korvax from a C class Gek. The difficulty comes from actually balancing the attack between the dreadnought and the missiles being fired on the civilian fleet. Haven't got the right mix yet. The dreadnought escapes and or the civilian fleet is destroyed. Gotta work on this. It's amazing after I got the stone glyphs for the portal, the Traveler appeared 12 consecutive times at a space station without even trying. The freighter space battle for me has been occurring about 50 percent of the time for me while looking for and doing something else. Red system or 3 star s6stem or outlaw system is not having much of an effect. However my problem is not being able to get a win except once by accident it appears. Kind of like life. Well at least my life. Peace. Go Brandon!! FJB. Coincidence that this game came out 8 years ago and I only started playing this for the first time over a month ago? Who knows.
We need to be allowed one 'carrier' freighter per race in the game, each allowing max of 12 ships per carrier. The individual ships would be 'anchored' to a particular freighter to keep things tidy. I'm not about to replace my S Class sentinel style freighter with one of these as I've way too much time invested with the interior layouts.
Wish they'd have thought about it. Plus - I can't imagine the pita it would be transferring everything over.
you can also spawn a dreadnaught in any system with sentinels : shoot a sentinel , go back to your ship, fight the sentinel ship and at max difficulty level the dreadnaught spawn !

I don’t have a combat scanner and ended up encountering 3 pirate dreadnoughts. The first time I forgot to disable the warp drive so it got away. Got the 2nd and 3rd, B and C respectively. I’ll get a better one eventually~
I have been searching for any dreadnought for 5 ish hours and still haven't found one.. Am I doing something wrong or am I just really unlucky?
If you get a c class pirate dreadnought, check the civillian freighter before reloading, it's rarity changes everytime making this the fastest way to find an s class freighter
I timed how long it takes from:
checking the class of the freighter, warping in and out of the system, defeating the freighter again, checking class
It takes me around 2:50-3:00 each time
considering it says chance of an S class is 2%
On average it should take 50 attempts
so 150 minutes of consistent farming
I have so far done 7 attempts, hoping to get my time down.
so far I have seen 5x C class and 2x B

I don’t even land on the planet, I land on my freighter, hit the scanner room to upload everything, hit the restore point again and take off again
main thing of doing expedition on main save credits ducates nanites and in storage put stuff and bases carry over to main save. and for omega expedition if you do not want the optional pets you can skip the optional task. put in the slots what you want transfer back by ending the expedition. and yes your old stuff and settings will still be there
Another way is to land on space station and avoid the battle in that system and reload that save point. A normal freighter will be there and no conflict. Board and do visor scan. If not one desired reload the save and fly out and scan again. Don’t know if it works on pirate ship.

If you want to go to the system that you want to keep going to you can put a marker on the system
and you can have directions to go to the selected system and if you want it to stay there just save before you start or when you put the marker down.
On Xbox I believe its X to put marker down

For anyone trying to get this on the expedition and keep finding regular freighters just claim your first one for free and then this dreadnought will show up, I was bouncing around for ages and nothing was popping up just regular freighter battles

Hi JP. I have 4 outlaw systems in a 61ly total range. If I just jump between the 4 systems, will that count as warping? I have an A-class but looking for a S-class.
If you jump with ship it should work, if you use teleporter it won’t work

I want to see in a future update in high economy low conflict systems a "Freighter Depo" it acts like a space station but you can upgrade a freighter's class or gather a TON of rare materials to build a custom freighter, but it can ONLY show up in HIGH economy and LOW conflict systems and even then its not a guarante one shows

Do you need to have finished the expedition? I'm on my expedition character (I plan on continuing it as my main after) with no freighter yet. Got a bunch of save the freighter events that I keep declining and I don't own a freighter yet. No dreadnaughts yet after maybe 50 jumps so far, 10 or so of which are outlaw system jumps (probably more)
I had this issue, I had to claim a normal freighter first and then the dreadnought freighter popped up after a few jumps

I just got my pirate freighter from the expedition i swapped some starship AI valves into the terminal at anomaly for quick units. I swear im getting freighter battles every few minutes

What about the freighter modules if you want to change? Does it also transfer like the base? Or you have to take them before the change? Nice video! I already have an S freighter but those lasers look extremely cool
I got my S class pirate frighter after 6 tries was lucky I have a tip I'm not good in battles so what I did was once I was at the freightor battle I changed my settings to none for combat then it's much easie to cripple the frightor and you get less damage to your ship it makes it much easer to do try it if your not good at combat
Say what you will but I waited until I can have my freighter both inside and out to be pirate themed and just use a save editor to replace the model, But kept everything else untouched. I had to many C Class Pirate Freighters. I dont have the patience for a S class right now. I made sure it was as legit to a the pirate ship you find normally as possible I dont want to much of my old freighter showing up. While still keeping my base, cargo, Technology all intact. The inside took a reload of the game to change from a normal Freighter Bridge to a Pirate themed version. Including the hanger.

I was able to capture a pirate dreadnought but the next one I ran across I wanted to blow up. I was unable to, they surrendered and it looked like the shields were still active despite both trenches being fully cleared.
I have warped through so many pirate systems no freighter battles I hate it so much

I believe you need to own a freighter already (any kind, either the regular ones you can find by pulse-driving around the system or the big capital ships that only spawn every 3 hours & 5 warps). Note that you can get your first freighter for free if you play for 3 hours straight and warp 5 times.
I was lucky enough to randomly encounter one with my friend. We both got S class first try.
Doesnt need to be a pirate or reed system. Also its far easier to do the shield generators. Shouldnt take more than 3 minutes. Knock out engines, fly out, slowly approach trenches, knockout the balls, shoot the tubes in 1 run , do the other side. Shouldnt take this long. 2 to 3 minutes max.
I'm sure this is a stupid question.. Do I need to take everything out of the freighter and stick it in my base first? The freighter is my main storage spot. That's going to take ages to sort out
So could you theoretically just keep warping to the same pirate system over and over and keep reloading until a freighter battle occurs?

I did not know you could go that 😭 first time I fought one of those I didn't even read the text on the top and just went straight up to blowing it up
For me the latest update has broken this battle. I cannot save the civilian freighter because as soon as I warp in and start pulsing towards the pirate ship the shields on the civilian freighter get depleted before I even reach the pirate ship. A few seconds later the civ freighter is destroyed by the pirate lasers before they launch any missiles. This all happens in about in 15 seconds and it happens in every battle I come across. I can leave and re-enter the system infinitely to join the battle with the same results. Totally broken.
When he says "you need to warp to a new system" does he mean just changing systems or does it have to be one you've never been to before?
Can you only get the Dreadnought in the Expedition or is just that way for the game now? Also can you change the exterior colors?
It's permanently in the game. You can change some colored parts, but not much.
You can actually do it like the original way play for three hours make a four jumps, save the game and then warp into a pirate system
So I was just playing. Right now, and something tried hacking my shop, I followed the signal to this battle and wasn’t paying attention and I messed up the farm, but either way can someone explain this ???edit also so if I were to save at a space station and then warp to a system and there’s a engagement, do I have to keep re rolling that encounter ?? Cause everytime I do it’s a C class and even has the same name etc

Are all dreadnoughts the same size or is there different variants in whatever way, like with the capital ships?

I also found a pirate system where the pirate freighter attack happens every single time you warp there lol.
