I remember when the creator of Rainbow City announced his coordinates on Reddit. In the beginning, the city would load up perfectly fine, and there were always visitors and people there. However, after a few weeks, so many people had put their own Base Computers on the planet at different locations, and starting building, and it just became an absolute nightmare to load the city any longer. It’s always a risk the creator takes when sharing an awesome base and its coordinates. Hopefully as time goes on, people’s uploaded bases will expire, and he’ll reload the Rainbow City so the planet won’t be inundated by useless bases.
Had the same yesterday, was searching for some cool underwater base. Imo HG should add system ownership option. Like every player can claim one system or few as his own, with options to allow other players build there or not and other permissions options (the same like network options - allow - not allow) There is plenty of space so nobody will be harm with that. I would like to see PVP systems or peaceful systems. Like player choose option to become hostile to others. You flee into sucha system and you get info: It is PVP system, or non-pvp system. Sucha system should be a domain or something to let you see players who fly in it.

I can barely make a simple square base ...I don't have enough time in my life to play this game. I only have 80-90 hours in the 2-3 weeks I have owned this game. Work keeps me from building my dreams ..as usual
So just a little tip I do for base building, in settings you can make crafting require no resources. Just set the crafting options to "free". I don't have much time on my hands nowadays either so it helps! GL
Starting smaller scale definitely helps. Also starting from a plan, helps even more. Say you like to build a house, taking inspiration from renders can help more. Hello games really should give us official modding tools, or a way to create our own stories like placing NPCs and giving them dialogue and logic and a way to dispense any items so that we can create our own stories and dungeons
That is the only negative critique that I have for HG. For as much as they did to keep the game going for many of us (specially in the first years of barebone content) they never gave much support to it. In fact... It would often seemed like they enjoyed scrambling things to make it harder! But at least they added a mods folder and didn't actively tried to make it impossible.
These bases are unbelievable. It’s a real shame that they are completely empty of life. It would be amazing if Hello could introduce AI characters that you could place in your base.
I was thinking this today. I ran across this floating bar base. I was just thinking how nice it would have been if there were people there interacting.
Those are all amazing! I almost can't believe those were actually built. I tried the building mechanics a few days ago after not playing the game for years... And I almost rage quit the game because of the way the snapping works... Managing to build with that makes those builds even more impressive!
I haven't even seen most of these decorations and definitely don't have the creative vision to make anything like these but it's really neat to see them.
I think it's learning by doing. Get to know all parts, experiment with it, get to know whats possible and what not... In the beginning you just get stuck a lot because of problems you don't know how to solve and don't even really have time for the creative part. At least for me. I've built a lot in Valheim before, it was the same process. Now i feel like i have to start from zero again, expected it to be easier ^^. A good tip i heard recently: If you build something, most of the time you build the shell first and then start to decorate. instead try to finish a certain part of your build inbetween. If you notice you get bored, stuck or have a creatice blockade, you say for example "ok now i'm going to finish the landing area with all decorations".
The bonus base is the best, in my opinion - it looks as though it was created bespoke by the modelling department, rather than pre-fab parts. Beautiful!
How are you able to see the city? I went to the Rainbow city overlook base and still wasn't able to see it. Even after leaving the game and loading back in. Or leaving the system and returning.
The ball that you drop in the destiny base, would be a drone. In the series they found this sphere who can float and they could scout and record stuff with it.
Kinda makes you wish there was some sort of Sim City feature in the game. Like, you level up from a camp, to a settlement, to a town, a city, then a metro city. It'd probably cost Hello games quite a lot of time and money, but I would PAY them for this. That and ship interiors, stepping out of your ship in space and board enemy ships ala Warframe. I'll pay you money, Sean!
Nah, they need to focus on the planetary POIs- you visit one trading center or minor settlement or observatory, you've seen them all. They need to incorporate the building system from the Settlements in particular and basically replace these buildings. Also they need to do a far better job with the terrain generation, I can think of a few games that have been worked on by smaller teams that do geographic features like canyons correctly.
