Oh yeah, worth it, I am in our Rubicon 4xe in the forest right now. Top of Paris Canyon in Idaho NW of Bear Lake. Energy in 17 kWh battery powers Starlink nicely for comms, and heater too (it's raining) without even using gas engine. Only 2% used per hour. 4xe rocks.
@@qtjoel That would be sweet, especially in a PHEV with larger battery, and with explicit control preventing the gas engine from coming on while in camping mode. I did use energy in the battery to keep myself warm up in the mountains in the Rubicon 4xe with climate control, with no gas engine noise, but that was while I was in the Jeep, not sleeping, and I generally managed the heater fan speed myself, it was nice to have. RAM 1500 Revolution EV truck would be natural for "camping mode" with its huge battery, with no worries because of gas-powered range extender for when the battery charge gets low.
I"ve gotten about 27 miles with a stock (before I put larger tires) on a '21 Rubicon rxe. I got a '23 and it was about the same, but I quickly put 35" tires, and 2" lift, and range is about 32 miles or so (some days a bit more, somedays, colder days, less). Love the car! I drive MOst days on full electric by using short trips, and then if I want to go on a trip, I have the gasoline engine. sound system is Amazing, and on the hard top you can get racks to put a Roof tent, etc. LOVE IT! Better than ANY other jeep for rock crawling!
Just got a 2023 4xe Rubicon 2 days ago. Finally got my wrangler after waiting for 25 years. Always bought family friendly cars and trucks before. My girls are all grown up so now it was time to get mom's car. Trying it out on a 3 yr lease with almost no intrest is the way I went.
Great review Ben. I've had my 4xe Rubicon for just about 6 months. Aside from the loose fuses (which the dealership fixed for me before delivery), this thing has been an absolute joy! I've done almost 7000 kms so far and have only filled up 2.5 tanks of gas. Most of my driving is within the city or nearby cities. I'm getting ~48 kms or range on electric only. Curious how this will be in the winter, but I'm definitely looking forward to plowing through mounds of snow in this beast. 4xe is an excellent variant imho.
The bad thing about the 4xe is on long road trips who wants to stop and wait for 2-4 hours for it to charge? And if you don't, there goes all your torque and fuel efficiency (it becomes a handicapped 2.0 turbo at that point due to the battery weight). The other problem is the battery is under the seats so you have a lot less space when the seats are folded down. No more flag 6' of cargo space, its a big stair step.. Diesel all the way for me.
Lol the torque and hp is always available. You can take it from the dealership and never charge it ever again and you will always have the power of both gas and electric motors.
Great review I have one coming from Louisiana out to California exact color gotta great lease from Clutch Auto Brokers out of Gilbert AZ. If you’re on the fence Jeep is offering a huge incentive till April 6th.Sooooooo move it
If it didn’t cook and book the way they do I wouldn’t give one a second look at this stage. The potential out dating of new tech happens so fast now days. I’d hate to invest in one making it a legit Moab machine only to have it be unwanted for resale 5 years down the road. My trusty 3.6l Rubicon on 37’s will always be sellable, trustworthy and relevant. Sorry it’s just the way I think.
in HYBRID mode i get an init8ial 24-26 miles on all-electric, then it switches over to its gas/electric hybridized mode and I get another 280 miles highway (full tank). in stop-and-go traffic or when mall-crawling it will go all electric for decent periods even when it says
no but that would be cool to see the price of PHEVs come down over time, with competition. Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has been updated and price is lower, but off-road capability of that vehicle is nowhere near as good as this Wrangler.
@@mehdisy3d yes I read the owners manual if you go to page 418, It can run on 87 however the mpg that Jeep claims it gets is using a higher octane. This is copied from the manual, The use of 91 or higher octane premium gasoline will allow these engines to operate to optimal performance. This increase in performance is most noticeable in hot weather or other heavier load conditions, such as while towing.
@@Greg-sw7uu that's very insightful, thanks! I was just saying that it's not "required". I've been getting excellent mileage on 87, but now curious to see what 91 would do.
I beg to differ, 4xe is great in my experience especially for people into tech and engineering. Still makes sense for Jeep to keep the old school going strong, which Jeep is doing with the 392 V8 and all.

Does it have a climate control like a teslas camping mode??

I Love my 2022 Wrangler 4xe Sahara. Fantastic jeep.
Absolutely worth it! I got mine yesterday!

thinking about getting one i'm noticing i don't see a CD player in the dash, does yours have one?
@@jeffreygreer go for it! CD player? Those were pretty much phased out in the early 2010s in vehicles. You've got Android Auto or Apple Carplay now.
Do these run in a standard hybrid mode?
I love my diesel, I drove the v6, 2.0, diesel and 4xE and went with the diesel.
I have ecodiesel and hemi..debating on trading in hemi for 4xe. Am I crazy?
Actually saw this exact color and Jeep the other day. Someone special ordered it! It’s a beauty 😁

Yes jeep Rubicon 4xe it's worth buying and go have fun with it

is there an xtreme recon of a 4xE?
Awesome looking video with an awesome vehicle concept.
I don't know how reliable this rig is going to me in the long term.
Worth it for 50k, not for 70-80k spec'd out the way someone would want it.
Do you know if the 2023 Jeep Wrangler Sport S has a backseat armrest or is it one continuous seat?
If you get leather it has a flip down armrest. Otherwise it’s straight across.
My leather Rubicon has the foldable backseat armrest.
How is resale value compared to other power trains?
can anyone tell me how many miles do you get on a fill up driving in hybrid mode i get about 300 miles on a fill up in my JL

its a beast as long as it has factory warranty.
I love the highlight yellow color
is there parking sensors
I wish the Wrangler came with night vision like the Grand Cherokee~
They are awesome as long as they are still under warranty....
I agree 💯. Seems like the warranty is important for this complexity and risk. 3-year lease is more attractive because of this risk.
Do they have a 4xe model under 35k?

I like it hate how it requires premium gas
Nope, does not require premium. Read the owner's manual - it takes regular gas.
