@@grisa12345 thats why bronco with lockers just make it look like a piece of cake even with less articulation you can put those theories into your bùtthole
Afterownership of 2 Jeep Wranglers my opinion is that actual articulation is seldom paramount when off roading…I prefer the much nicer ride and comfort of the Bronco!
@@thepavementendsnow1901 After running the actual rubicon trail and many other very technical trails in Colorado and Utah, I disagree. But if you’re not running technical trails, the Bronco would be fine. It’s a lot like the FJ Cruiser was, only bigger and with removable top/doors.
There's really no mystery. The bronco has all the advantages you'd expect from independent front suspension and the Jeep has all the advantages you'd expect from a solid axle.
@@kgositheophilusbakwena3632 the 392 has a v8, that wouldn't be fair. But they could have brought an ecodiesel or standard v6 with the extreme recon package of 35s.
The jeep can't be beat they keep trying Don't forget in order to create the bronco they went with company's that jeep no longer wanted to use any longer.
I went with the Sahara 4xe. I don't crawl rocks, but hit a lot of dirt trails around Las Vegas. The battery location of the 4xe gives it a much better center of gravity and I found it handled much better than a normal wrangler. The biggest drawback of the wrangler is highway noise so I use my other car for long road trips. The plug in hybrid was the clincher. I went 800 miles before needing to fill up my first month, and the under 6 seconds from 0-60 is a lot of fun.
I work at both a Ford and Jeep dealer. Both vehicles are amazing. Just got in a 392 Wrangler MSRP 81K!! Crazy. I purchased a Bronco because it will be a daily driver, definitely a better ride on road with more space. No wrong choice, enjoy your ride!!
I purchased a 2021 Jeep Ecodiesel. I recently test drove a Bronco a couple of months back. I drive my wrangler as a daily business vehicle and it goes all of Michigan and northern Ohio. No issues with handling on the expressway, I think it is far better than most suggest as a stock vehicle. The Bronco is nice but glad I own a jeep and no interest in changing anytime soon!!
If you got stuck in 4H and it was due to complete loss of traction (2 wheels in the air), switching to 4L would do nothing for you. The first option should’ve been sway bar because that would drop the wheel on the ground. The 2nd option is lockers and the 3rd (for completeness) is taking a different line. There’s literally no reason not to have sway bar disconnected all the time while off-roading. It re-engages automatically.
@@frankiew8532 sway bar disconnects in 4 hi and 4 low on the bronco. Rear locker is available in 2wd 4hi and low and front locker is only available in 4low
I chose the 4xe after testing both. Mileage is way better for my situation. I can operate pure electric all week long, by charging at home and at work. Plus got $8250 in tax credits which made it much cheaper than the bronco, especially in light of ford markups. The build quality of the jeep I feel is better but I could be wrong. I love the jeep community and the aftermarket support. Great video.
For same price i would get a Rivian way nicer inside-out and loaded with apps & much more cool stuff like permanent 360 survey with night vision tanks thru build in cameras & tank-turn, air-compressor in the rear, plenty power outlets to power different electric devices, (from phones, tablets, notebooks & laptops to optional roof lights, microwave, small cooling icebox or electric tools), overall it has much more usable space starting in front 'frunk to inside cabin and back in trunk + it has few extra options like a cool cooking system very handy when camping in nature, a quick-foldable 3 adults tent also the economy will be made for each year passing by in comparison with all costs, taxes +servicing of the ice Bronco or ice Wrangler. Rivian is on top..
@@af7119 Well Rivian has the first generations with all the options selected so yeah but it can be configured with less optional stuff to be in same price (specially if you do not want the most expensive paint 2000$ when the car can be wrapped with protective film for less then 500$ or who needs the 3000$ tent or 2000$ sliding cooking system, the bigger wheels and other expensive options) so if you are careful with optional stuff Rivian can be configured in 80k very easy and it will still out-perform these 4x4 (watch Sandy Munro with his factory R1T out-performed serious tricked out modified Jeep Wranglers that each costed way much more than R1T)..
@@poplaurentiu4148 How are you planning to get replacement parts for your Rivian once they’re no longer a thing? That company will file for bankruptcy in a year or two.
@@ericd9538 What are you talk about ? any auto-manufacturer according to law must supply service-support & vehicle-parts to at least up to a minimum 10 years after the vehicle was out from production line.. but as we can easy see on today market trends plenty people sell the car way too early before reaching even 10 years of owning because they are getting bored or want trade-inn, sell or swap with another more attractive offer.. so yeah..
Went with the Jeep personally (took delivery in Nov). I love the classic styling and resale value. Aftermarket support is also a plus. While I totally agree that the handling isn’t great, it isn’t as bad as some people made it out to be. I’m 6’7” and I fit in it just fine. Finally, the bronco second-row vents are under the front seats, I have a dog and I want to make sure he gets enough air, so that was a slight plus for the Jeep. Ultimately, I didn’t want to wait for a bronco, but I have nothing against it. When I replace my other car, I’ll seriously consider it. But for now, happy with my JLU, I smile every time I drive it and that’s a good feeling 👍
I’m 6’2” and my seat is all the way back and if I recline it more my head will hit the sport bar… I can feel my hair on the freedom panel when it’s sticking up after just waking up. If I were any taller it would be a non-starter. . I do agree that a year later it still makes me feel special every time I turn it over and love the styling. Personally like the Bronco a lot until I saw it in person. Just looks massive and weirdly proportionate. . People are complainers and have to make things up about non issues. I sit in a chair at work for 8 plus hours a day that is shit compared to what my Jeep has. I easily do 10 hour trips in it and have been doing so at least once a month since getting it. Steering is fine, better than my old Ram 2500 and just as good as my WJ Jeep which was an upscale suv for its time. People just want to compare these to jelly bean shaped crossovers with car suspension.
@@KTMcaptain geez! You must have a longer torso than me. I tried the 4Runner but had terrible headroom issues so Jeep it was. The thing is I’ve been in a JK and it definitely was as bad at handling as people say. The JL still fees like a body on frame/solid axel vehicle, but it’s way better than the JK and pretty close to modern crossovers (I believe Doug said the same). I drove it from Virginia to Utah and back over the holidays and it was totally fine
The Broncos keep breaking tie rods when off-roading because they’re too small diameter. In fact, they’re on national back order right now. The steering racks have also had problems disengaging from the pinion shaft when off-roading leaving you with no steering control. The Bronco’s extra width is also a detriment on narrow trails. I’ll be keeping my Wrangler despite its highway road manner deficits.
@@uowebfoot maybe parts but mostly Edge engineering. Regardless it is not a 4WD platform. As they fix one screwup the next weak-point down the line will fail. The latest is the miserable 4 cyl EcoBoost engine that is failing.
You have a point but 90% of people that buy both of these vehicles will use them mostly for normal driving with the occasional off road trip. I think they did the test right , they proved that both vehicles can handle the offroad challenge and compared how it would be in a daily driven environment.
@@15xgg80 I am so sick of this argument. I don't care. These are advertised as off-road vehicles. They should be able to perform off-road and that should be the focus of what the vehicle can do, regardless of how likely the end user is or is not going to actually use it for that purpose. Imagine buying something like a light bulb and it only works maybe 50% of the time. Then when you complain about it, somebody comes along and says "Well, 90% of people who use light bulbs only have them on for about half the day anyway."
@@KurNorockEdmonds is going to make the video to appeal to the masses sorry but thats how its going to be. Majority of people on youtube are going to care about how these vehicles perform as daily drivers too and at the end of the day that is what is going to pay edmonds bills if they focus on the hardcore off-roading audience the video will not get enough views.
They have to invent reasons for people to watch their video. Been driving Solid axle vehicles 17 years and it’s a non issue. If it’s too much then off roading will be exponentially worse and we’ll should stay in your bubble.
One thing to note about the Bronco on the ziggaraut is that the Sas package decreases articulation. Be interested to see how a non-Sas badlands would've done.
I drove both and wrote a check for a 2 Dr Rubicon yesterday, as a gift for my wife’s birthday. I was going to get her a football but I figured I’d have more fun with this. Firecracker Red. We LOVE it.
Very comprehensive off-road tests with impressive results for both rigs. But considering the majority of people who buy Broncos and Jeeps are the trendy mall-crawler type, perhaps you could do a follow up video which shows tests like which vehicle is easier to park in a crowded mall parking lot and which vehicle navigates a Starbucks drive-thru the easiest.
As you've likely discovered, the "pure" EV cultists will badger you into disavowing your pragmatic phev ideas. They refuse to understand the practicality of 10,000+ miles of daily plug-in cheap EV driving while also never suffering range anxiety.
@@donswier true, though I'd be completely okay with a pure EV SUV or pickup if they were able to do what i use mine for. As it sits, I think for the foreseeable future EVs will not be too viable for most towing/hauling needs unless they're things like the Hummer which weigh 9000lbs and cost $125k.
I’m a realtor in East TN so I have to be able to drive through and over everything! Snow, rain, rocks, mountains and paved roads. I drive a 2018 Jeep JLU manual transmission with a 2.5” lift and 35” tires. I don’t mind the noise, I invested in a $2500.00 amp and sound system. I know that I can get out of whatever I may get into and as a woman that gives me the kind of comfort that’s more important than the comfort the Bronco gives as a daily driver. So I think it depends on the person and what their needs are.
Switching from 4hi to 4lo in that situation wasn't going to do anything. Your problem wasn't lack of torque or speed modulation, it was lack of traction, which 4lo does not increase.
The bsd .. brake slip differential is no where as aggressive as the wrangler .. I would think that 4 lo may have made it more aggressive but that was not the case. On the plus side it's just a software update if ford chooses to
I just replaced my 18 JL Unlimited 2.0t with the new Wrangler Rubicon 392... the 392 makes this a beast not only off road, but a rocket on road . 0-60 in 4 seconds and 13 sec quarter mile with 35's. Gotta love Jeep for making this INSANE and borderline dangerous Jeep. I LOVE EVERY SECOND OF IT!
After 7 Jeep Wranglers and 1 Gladiator I still don’t understand people complaining about highway steering. Other than the two door short wheel base Wranglers being twitchy I just don’t experience that. FYI Jeep Wrangler 4XE all day long!
Went with the Rubicon 4xe. I drove both and the Wrangler wasn't that bad on the highway and I liked that it felt smaller, taller (granted, I drove a non Sasquatch Bronco) and overall more agile. Also I was totally expecting a terrible interior in the Wrangler and was happily surprised it really feels like rugged premium. The aux switches on the Bronco are cool, seats are bigger, and the screen and the cameras are pretty amazing, but I don't know what is going on at Ford that all the 2022 vehicles (Explorer Timberline, Bronco Sport, Bronco 4dr Outer Banks) I've tested had interiors that are ugly (not the Bronco) and full of cheap plastics. Finally, Ford's 10 speed transmission is weird, with some abrupt shifts, and doesn't give me confidence in the long term, and paired with the 4 cylinder I test drove, it felt under-powered for such a big beast. P.S. He could've totally finished that turn without the 3-point even with the bad approach he took.
You forgot to talk about the PHEV side of the Wrangler. This thing will be much cheaper to daily drive then the Bronco, which in my opinion will convince many people to choose the 4xe over the old dinosaure 🦖
I bought my 4xe (Rubicon w cold weather, soft top, safety package, etc) last summer. My dealer gave me roughly $6k off MSRP, and then I received $8K tax credit on last years taxes making the Wrangler 4xe roughly a $44K vehicle. Last summer we averaged 37mpg and lifetime after 9K miles we are at 33Mpg due to winter (batteries are not as efficient in the cold). Overall very happy with it for the money.
@@thabrownieviking I read through the forums and called around and found a dealer that would give a discount if you orders your Jeep directly. Then I also applied for the Tread Lightly program which got me another $800 off. I think it was around $5700 off total MSRP but this was last year. I will say from the time I ordered to delivery was about 30 days so it was quick and I got the exact Jeep and options I wanted. I would check the forums and Facebook groups for dealers who are still discounting.
@@thillyard1 I'm impressed by your resourcefulness on this. I might do that. I've had a Bronco on order for like 2 years with no timeline on when it's going to be completed. I really like the idea of having enough electric range to run into town without using gas.
@@thabrownieviking Yes the 4xe is great for 20-25 mile round trips. We do lots of those, sometime a few a day and charge in between. We can usually go about 800-1000 miles or so before fill-up’s at the pump. My last Wrangler averaged 16.7MPg lifetime so this is more than double it and it has 375hp/470tq.
The big difference between the two is the solid vs. independent front suspension. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. I would take either vehicle honestly.
Agreed. Jeep is still the king of off-road but with front independent suspension you get better road manners in the Bronco. Both great vehicles but settled for the Jeep as my new hobby is off-road and overland
I've always liked Jeeps and I will always have a soft spot for them. That said I like everything about the new Bronco. Which one would I rather live with? Probably the Bronco. Well I don't actually Off Road that often - so I tend to lean towards the Bronco. That said it's still one of the most capable off road vehicles currently available so I wouldn't feel like I was driving the lesser vehicle if I did. Winner Bronco for me.
The Bronco has independent front suspension, which is an articulation problem off-road on really rough terrain. A "gotcha" that was not mentioned is that Bronco is a shade wider than the Wrangler, which means the Jeep can pass between trees where the Bronco may acquire some pin-striping or, worst case, actually stick a bit. The Bronco is a little more citified than the Wrangler, more like the Land Rover Defender, which no longer remotely resembles its roots. In terms of noise, the Wrangler is not that bad in the city. On a freeway, different story, entirely. Comfort is similar. Wrangler seats are excellent, but the suspension is just harder. But ... on surface streets, it isn't that much of an issue.
The wrangler looks to be the clear off road winner, but I’d be taking it off road maybe once just to try it, so I’d pick the bronco since it’s the clear daily driver winner.
Bronco for me, please. I pined over the Wrangler for the longest time, then the Bronco came out and now that's all I want. Still, the Jeep is an awesome off-road performer. But since most driving is done ON roads, the Bronco seems like a more logical choice, hands down. Comfort, stability and gadgetry all score higher for me, personally, so I'll be giving my money to FoMoCo this time.
I checked out a 2023 Bronco and it was really nice but seemed over priced in comparison. For $90,000, the one I looked at didnt even have leather seats. Leather seats came standard in the 2023 Rubicon 4xe I looked at and it was priced at $71,000 (although manufacturers suggested retail stated $77,000). Add on the fuel saving of a hybrid plus the $7500 tax incentive, Im saving a lot. I bought the Rubicon 2 days ago. It handles great. My Dodge Laramie is a huge in comarison so I had to get used to the sensitive stearing on the Jeep but it was fine after driving for a little while. The only thing that I liked in the Bronco over the Jeep was storage and how wide it was. For over $20,000 more, wasn't even close to being worth it for me. Glad to know they Jeep would out perform crawling up a hill.
I love the Bronco but it really didn’t do well as I’d expect here off-road. That articulation difference really shows here. Of course lockers will get you through it all fine. I’m waiting a year and hope they fix the quality issues by then.
I'm a Ford fanatic but we must speak honestly, this type of car is not for road trips it is for difficult off-road driving, Jeep is the leader in this field and is much more specialized in this way of driving.its long experience does not compare to Ford which does not have such experience, so Ford will have to invest a lot of money in the Bronco to evolution it so that it can compete with Jeep
Had a 2020 jeep wrangler it came from the factory with death wobble, took it to the dealership 7 times with no fix. ended up with a lemon had to sue Chrysler to get my money back now I have a bronco.
No one talks about how the Bronco is having problems fulfilling orders, and the hard tops is plagued with issues and the soft tops are horrific, The only vehicles Ford is delivering are demo cars for reviewers such as Edmunds, and no one can get a Raptor unless you are a day 1 hour 1 reservist. You can't get a Bronco Badlands to go head to head with a Wrangler Rubicon (non 4xe). I'd love to see that comparison.
Was in Alaska with my Wrangler Rubi 4xE and my buddy had a Bronco Badlands (w/Sasquatch). What made the most difference was the electric motor on the wrangler. That instant torque made all the difference even with the stock 33" tires.Ford should make a plug in hybrid Bronco, then I'd may consider Getting one. I"d get a Gladiator otherwise, but the hybrid is king off-road, and I barely pay for fuel in town using the electric motor 90% of the time. The 4xe is much mroe expensive, but wirth it I think. As for the trail turn assist... E-brake turn with the wrangler?
I’ve had 4 ford vehicles for work in the span of owning my 2000 Jeep Wrangler. I wouldn’t trade a Jeep for a Ford no matter what kind it was. The door lock thing being broken is funny because I’ve owned 4 ford vehicles and every single one has had small bizarre issues of things that break. One of the the key assembly would release the key. I had to replace the steering column twice. Another car, the windshield wipers died in the middle of a rain storm. Another, the radio volume would go up and down for no reason. Yeah, I’m my opinion. They are crap cars that with terrible workmanship. I’ll stick with my wrangler. Even if it drives like a Sherman tank.
I owned a wrangler and now I have a gladiator, I have never had issues with everyday driving on the road. My only complaint with Jeeps is the more vertical windshields, bugs don’t stand a chance, and that’s a little annoying.
I love Ford and I love the Bronco, but some of the quality control issues are just a dealbreaker. The rattling tops, this long term unit with a back door that won’t open, and a number of other issues I’ve heard of from owners. I wish domestic auto makers would try to copy Toyotas development process with new vehicles.
And, uh, jeep? I just sold my wrangler, a 2019, 30k miles, and already had its share of issues. It rattled all over the place. I won't have my Bronco till next month, but I think I'll like it more. Unless you're rock climbing, the Bronco is the better vehicle.
@@user-qt5eh9wb7g I sold my 2019 JLUR with about 30k miles and I ran about 70 trails with no issues and no rattles. Almost all rock climbing trails. I think the Bronco is fine for most people but the Jeep served me well for the more technical stuff.
@@grisa12345 You had a JL and the other guy had a JK, the JL seems better. Not sure what Wrangler I rented last year with removable hardtop (yes I took it off - lol) but I hated feeling every pebble in the road. I've already talked to my Toyota dealer about when will they start receiving the new Land Cruiser. They said they have no idea. They said they can't even order them yet. I'm on the list as soon as they can order, I'm going in to order mine. You're right, Toyota is far superior to Ford.
Great review!! Loved this! I am excited about the competition that the bronco has brought to the Jeep. Especially when it comes to interior concept and some of the new innovations - like frameless doors, stylings, and a slightly more comfortable highway experience - make the Bronco an incredibly attractive and capable vehicle. As much as I love the eye candy of the Bronco - I am still holding to the Jeep. The overall off-road performance, slightly more narrow build for trails top the list. While the Jeep interior has fewer bells and whistles- it has a durable premium feel that is still lacking in the Ford. I think in a couple years both of these amazing beasts will only prove to make each other better which is a win for bronco and Jeep fans alike.
Everyone talking about on road performance just goes to show what drivers by these for. There’s a reason why the Jeep community has gotten so big. They’re made for people who off road as a hobby vs those you who will likely hop a curb at the mall before taking it to a true trail
@@ec3886 you say mostly mall crawlers but id bet over time alot of these shiny new offroaders (jeep and bronco) will get used on a trail at some point when they hit the used market or when they age. in fact, its mostly XJ cherokees, 1st-3rd gen 4runners, yj-tjs, etc. you see on the trails nowadays. given time i bet jks will be the new xjs in terms of used market offroaders.
4xe is the best thing the Wrangler has done in years. Their BLD system works well as shown. They need to make a package on all trims that gives front and rear lockers plus tire upgrade instead of making you get the Rubicon. I wonder if a GOAT mode would have helped the Bronco in that articulation test. Low range was not the move there when stuck, locking the rear dif should have been. I would take a base 2 door Bronco with the sasquatch package with the 4 cylinder and manual. In normal times these will be able to be had out the door under $40k, something I dont think you'll ever see a Rubicon do.
Which one I choose? I don't know I need 2 test drive both my self , Which one would I daily drive? From your review I would say Bronco, Which one would I off-road in? From your review I would say Jeep
Jeep has kept their DNA consistent for almost 80 years, improving year over year. You get all of those years building the best and most unique looking vehicle on the road today. Ford can't just make a "gadget" eye grabber and try to compete. Jeep also has the 3L diesel you neglected to mention. Jeep wins every time. If you don't understand Jeep heritage and driving characteristics then by an IFS knock off Bronco. If you buy a Jeep and complain about going 70 mph and light steering, you don't understand Jeep at all. (full disclosure I am now on my third Jeep, YJ, TJ and JT) Great review.
The wheelbase has nothing to do with articulation. If anything it is a demerit against the break over angle leading to a propensity to drag it’s belly. The only way to get around that deficiency is with greater ground clearance.
Love The New Bronco !!! I am a speed junkie sports/muscle cars person so I don’t care about going 1/2 mph over a rock I want to go 40 or more down a fire road or rough trail like a RZR so give me the IFS and the Bronco
We test-drove both and found out the vaunted on-highway quality ride in the Bronco just wasn't there, as compared to the new 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. The Wrangler soaked up the potholes and poor pavement conditions nicely and offered a much more quiet ride. The only negative we found is the overly sensitive and wandering steering mentioned in the video. Did I mention we ended up buying a 2-door Rubicon X? We couldn't be more pleased with our decision.
What a joke, so the Wrangler wins in the off-road tests among the 2 supposed best off-roaders, and yet they give the win to the inferior car, for reasons unrelated to their purpose, which is to off-road! I don't understand why reviewers make the wrangler seem uncomfortable on every-day drive, I really like mine, and I come from Mercedes cars... Overall it was a good video, showing the wrangler's superior off-road capabilities even though the Bronco was on 35's.
I had the dealer replace my steering gearbox on my 2020 Rubicon with the new all steel design free of charge, now drives better than the Bronco, I can also open and close my rear tailgate anytime I want lol...
I’ve been in both and we ended up buying the 2024 4xe Willy’s for several different reasons . I was only ford for over 30 years but for the last 6 years I’ve been in Jeep’s and I’ve had no issues I guess I’m a Jeep guy now lol
I’d still get that Bronco everyday of the week. Makes me miss my ‘87… was slow and a bit of a gas guzzler but damn was she purdy with manual 4x4. Also helps that my grandfather is a retired Ford worker as well 😁
I’ve been a jeep lover since I was a little kid and when I got my 1st two door Willy s wheeler edition I couldn’t have been happier. However, now that I’ve moved out of San Diego after being in the Navy, out in Colorado my jeep completely lacks those creature comforts such as modern internal electronics and most importantly storage. I’m very excited to get the 4 door badlands with the Sasquatch Package and instead of a Rubicon
I had a 2018 Jeep Wrangler JLU .. it was the slowest vehicle I have owned in 30 year. in the shop more than any new car , (Jeep dont call them cars) I have ever owned. I had the 3.6 l and the 8 speed. it got 9 mpg at 90 mph. I had to go slower than 70 to get double digits. on road road like a pogo stick all on BFG ko2 33's. .... I sold that and got a 2022 Bronco wildtrak. soother, faster, better fuel mileage by about 40% Both are very good off road. That being said the Jeep is a better rock crawler. The Bronco is better are everything else. The Jeep guys love that strait beam axle and it seems to work better in the rock crawl but every place else the IFS is better. I can go faster on and off road smoother. I had a hard top on both. cell phone on blue tooth anything over 50 in the jeep people cant hear you over the noise. Bronco 90 mph no issues. if most of your life is rock crawling get the jeep. otherwise the Bronco is better in every way. If I was going to rock crawl I would get a used JKU and put 40's on it and not care.
Jeeps are great for off road and there are lots of things to make them better for different terAIN. i WENT WITH THE OLD FULL SIZQ bRONCO FOR MY USE. tO WIDE FOR SOM PLACES BUT WIDE IS GOOD FOR NOT ROLLING OVER. i only lifted it 4 inches but cut and turned beams do not need 4 inches less ground clearence. Had to get that done by a friend from HS who races off road and makes parts and installes them and more. I gusseted and plated my beams with help from a shop cutting out my templates and a pro weilder helping me install them. The Raptor has 13" front 13.9" rear wheel travel I have 17" and `18" with 4wheel drive on King Shocks. It does great and with gears, lockers for 35" tires goes where I want well. Smooth , safe , in control at a faster pace than I hsve been able to with other trucks on ranchos. Not the lower price of Ranchos for good reason but worth it for my off roading ! Position sensative bypass resivior tunable shocks are GREAT!!!
I'm not sure I agree that "The Bronco wins in every other category." Is a true statement. There are less after market accessories for the Bronco. It's footprint is much wider making it take up a lot more space in the garage or in parking. The Hybrid version of the Jeep is just fantastic and it fits the normal driving of most Americans, short trips here and there, making it even more adaptable for daily driving. It also has far fewer recalls. There have been so many recent issues with the Bronco since this video was out, that I think a re-review of this would likely flip the results.
I have a Jeep and a hummer h2 (two of them) and an H3 alpha. (That one is getting an axle) wrangler every step of the way. Cause all those so called benefits of the bronco can be had in a cross over. So it’s dead on arrival. Wrangler won that. You said it was an off roader (bronco failed in that regard. So the wrangler is the winner) this is by your so called testing. I daily drive a wrangler too and guess what it drives like a solid axle truck so no issues there unless your not used to it. Also my h3 has ifs and now getting an axle cause the problems with ifs limitations and weakness aren’t worth keeping it.
So for the better off roader get the wrangler cuz it’s better capable and narrower. For roadway and Baja running, get the Bronco. I’ve taken the Jeep in the canyon roads running it till it squealed the tires in the curves. It handles fairly well. Not quite as uncommunicative as they say. I’ll keep my Rubi ☺️
First test should've been 2 points for the jeep it went to the top , and still had all 4 tires on the ground. Stalantis dropped the mic!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MOPAR FANS EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!
Here's a slick trick for the jeeps... especially when aired down. Flip the jeep into 2wd when approaching a tight turn. The front wheels will drag, the rear wheels drive, and you can drift around the hairpins. Going from 4h to 2wd you don't even have to stop. Really great for donuts too. Test he Bronco against the Mojave.
Yeah this video started off by talking about off road capabilities. Clearly the Wrangler won in that category. If you want a more comfortable city cruiser choose a Bronco.
Have no issues with my Bronco off roading. Personally, I don't do any rock crawling so the front axle wasn't missed on my Wrangler. As far as where I've gone between the Wrangler and Bronco, I love being able to have higher speeds with the Bronco while have yet to get this thing stuck. (Waiting for the ground to finally break and some heavy rains to make it happen)
The Wrangler all the way. I commend Ford for offering an alternative, and wish other companies had the nads to compete with Jeep (to help lower the price of them to be quite honest). They're so expensive because they have no competition. But for the outer aesthetics, the interior, heck all the way around. The Jeep Wrangler's got it. Hands down!
Small nitpick, The Wrangler and Bronco are the best 4 wheel road legal vehicles off road. Any dual sport or ADV would crush either. If I had to choose one I'd pick the Bronco due to it having better everything that you use everyday over the 10% less it has off road to the Wrangler.
You guys didn’t mention and important point…fuel economy and efficiency. Most of these vehicles get terrible gas mileage. The 4xe wins hands down here. This is an important factor as gas prices continue to increase.
I have an 88 wrangler and have been waiting almost 2 years for my Bronco badlands 2 door. Aside from the Bronco’s cool looks I’m really getting nervous at the issue the Broncos are having. Brake failures, electronics, roof issues, ...Ford needs to hammer out the bugs and fast.
@@ljs2274 Apparently it's with the 2.7 engines and it's been noted on many of the Bronco forums from users who had had "close calls" of brakes failing. Pretty scary.
Seemed a little fake to pretend you guys thought the Bronco, with IFS, would articulate just as well as the solid axle Jeep. Obviously that was going to be the case.
I'll take Jeep on and off road, 100%. However, Cargo space and interior space, Bronco wins. I had a Tacoma before my Rubicon, loved it except for some of the limitations I faced having an IFS, I really really wanted a solid front axle and the conversion cost was way to much for me. Since Toyota holds it's re sale value so well, I was able to sell my Tacoma for more than I thought, put a nice down payment on a Rubicon v6 and haven't looked back since. Are there issues? Yes... Wind noise is not the best over 90 kph, mud terrains are loud (but they are loud on any vehicle) and sometimes the cargo space when it's myself, my wife, both our kids and our dog going off roading/camping/travelling is a bit tight, you have to smart pack. However, off road, it's a beast. I've taken my Rubicon in stock form almost everywhere so far, haven't met an obstacle that I couldn't tackle yet. I think if you want more space, like the looks of the Bronco, it's a great and very very capable vehicle. I however am in love with my Jeep and I'm definitely going to keep it. I would love to add some aluminum aftermarket front stubby bumper/winch and upgrade to 35's one day. That's my honest take, I also love how the Bronco looks and I think it's healthy competition between both brands. It will only push both manufacturers to want to further improve each product.
If your priority is on road more than off road then just get a honda civic. it'll crush both of those on road. As with the bronco vs the jeep offroad, the civic will be demonstrably worse offroad but also be demonstrably better on road, so according to your measurements, it's a better vehicle
The independent front suspension articulation makes it not perfect for rock crawling tho. The wrangler’s solid axles makes it the perfect rock crawler over the bronco. Other things the bronco does better but for rock crawling which a huge part is about traction and articulation, the wrangler is the better bet if you are gonna be rock crawling.
The traction control system and different terrain management isn’t good at all. Another channel reviewed the toyota 4Runner’s multi terrain select vs ford’s goat modes and it just doesn’t disperse power to the correct wheel strong enough and just doesn’t give it enough power to the wheel with traction to get out of rut or hole. The 4Runner’s MTS system and crawl control was far superior compared to the bronco’s same type of systems. The bronco was also on 35’s and the 4Runner was on much smaller stock tire size of 265-70-17 which is about a 31 and a half inch tire. The 4Runner crawled up and out of the rut and up the steep hill while the bronco was stuck until he engaged everything front and rear lockers and the stabilizer bar disconnected.
I’ve been a Ford guy for years and there is no way I would choose the bronco over the Jeep. We have had several Jeep’s over the years since a CJ5 in 1979. I picked up my 392 a week ago. If you want to get serious about off roading without designing a custom vehicle then Jeep is the still the king. Toyota’s can be a distant second (tough trails are not what I’m talking about guys, I mean serious off road). The bronco is nice but it’s just not ready. Great mall crawler but it’s not a mountain crawler. I don’t give two hoots about your technology package if you can’t keep up where it counts when in the wilderness
This was a very bizarre test. We've test driven up so much steeper, with gigantic boulders in the Ford Bronco Badlands Sasquatch and didn't have any of these issues. Not to mention the dozens of videos of the Bronco making it much more difficult than this with no problems in a stock 32 in tire. Hmm ??? Watch light Brite videos this seems a bit odd.
There are a lot of factors, way, way too many factors. Ultimately solid axle rigs will always have better articulation, likewise IFS will always drive faster on dirt. Both great, just a little different.
The Ford Bronco and the Jeep Wrangler are very similar when compared head-to-head. But which one would you rather live with?
Jeep. When it comes to off road capability it’s better to have it and not need it. There’s no substitute for articulation and IFS can’t match it.
Keep! Bronco has a soft top from Wahun China! Home of killing millions of people
@@grisa12345 thats why bronco with lockers just make it look like a piece of cake even with less articulation you can put those theories into your bùtthole
And 100 years of development lol.

Don't forget in order to create the bronco they went with company's that jeep no longer wanted to use any longer.
Holy crap, hadn’t heard how fast they are. That’s insane.
Which top option did you go with for your Sahara? I’m wondering if the sound is quieter with the hard top option?
I think Jeep should consider independent front suspension on the Wrangler Sahara and the Gladiator Mojave.
How much weight does that battery add to the jeep?

I did like my wrangler too, in spite of its problems.
But it did have problems...

The sway bar only disengages in 4 low on the Jeep and the lockers only work in 4 low on the Jeep, not sure about the bronco.

I chose the 4xe after testing both. Mileage is way better for my situation. I can operate pure electric all week long, by charging at home and at work.

I do agree that a year later it still makes me feel special every time I turn it over and love the styling. Personally like the Bronco a lot until I saw it in person. Just looks massive and weirdly proportionate.

Really interested in the idea of a PHEV suv or pickup. Hopefully the tech continues to improve and makes way into more offerings.
As you've likely discovered, the "pure" EV cultists will badger you into disavowing your pragmatic phev ideas.

I'd love to buy one -- a heavy-duty PHEV pickup truck, that is.
I’m a realtor in East TN so I have to be able to drive through and over everything! Snow, rain, rocks, mountains and paved roads.

This was a FORD sponsored video for sure!

Agreed. Jeep is still the king of off-road but with front independent suspension you get better road manners in the Bronco. Both great vehicles but settled for the Jeep as my new hobby is off-road and overland
Great video review. I know this is a contentious comparison, and I’m a Jeep fan, but I think you did a nice job. Both cars are sweet!
You were totally fair with both it's an easy decision. For off-roading, nothing beats, Jeep

It's a first year vehicle. ALL Gen 1 vehicles are going to develop problems once released and thousands of them are out being used. Including Toyota.
Maybe in your neck of the woods. Jeeps are mostly mall crawlers where I'm at.
@@ec3886 a lot of them are but I have yet to see a dirty Bronco though lol I think I’ve seen two dirty raptors in my lifetime.
Extra wheelbase of the Wrangler definitely helps it with articulation.
The solid axles help a ton with articulation
The wheelbase has nothing to do with articulation. If anything it is a demerit against the break over angle leading to a propensity to drag it’s belly. The only way to get around that deficiency is with greater ground clearance.
I haven't seen much about rear seat comparison between Bronco and Wrangler. I have kids and rear sear comfort matters to me.
I ordered Bronco. While I can only dream of driving it my local Jeep dealer is socked with all kinds of Wranglers.
@14:30 is that a check engine light on the bronco?
I’ve been waiting on my bronco for like a year now and I still can’t wait for it to get here I’m so ready to drive it
I had the dealer replace my steering gearbox on my 2020 Rubicon with the new all steel design free of charge, now drives better than the Bronco, I can also open and close my rear tailgate anytime I want lol...
Drives better than bronco? How much drug did you smoke before commenting?
You think it's the steering gearbox that was causing the issues of driving? Seriously?
Always Jeep !!!! This car fought wars 🍻
Phenomenal, entertaining comparison. Once Ford implements a plug-in hybrid option, I'm giving the Bronco a hard look.
Hard look from the Service waiting room LOL.
Excellent review!
I went with the Rubicon, style, usage, size and that retractable one touch, all a plus in my eyes.
First test should've been 2 points for the jeep it went to the top , and still had all 4 tires on the ground.
Stalantis dropped the mic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MOPAR FANS EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!
Jeep will do trail turn assist with the Tazer mini along with many other features
So I'm getting a 2-Door Bronco with the 2.3 Turbo and 7-Speed manual. Front and rear lockers. That's my answer :)
I prefer the bronco
Why is that?
please do the test for the 110 defender, interesting to compare it to bronco and Rubicon
Jeep, Jeep, and Oh Yeah. Jeep. Props to Ford on bringing a worthy competitor to the arena.
17:01 love the honesty manh 😂❤
Hands down!
They are expensive because of resale value .
@@zebulonwheeler1240 Bro your fanboyism is leaking through the screen jeez.
You guys didn’t mention and important point…fuel economy and efficiency. Most of these vehicles get terrible gas mileage. The 4xe wins hands down here. This is an important factor as gas prices continue to increase.
This basically is just a solid front axle vs independent suspension test. All the pros and cons of each are evident
Can you post a link to brakes ? Havnt heard that yet
@@ljs2274 Apparently it's with the 2.7 engines and it's been noted on many of the Bronco forums from users who had had "close calls" of brakes failing. Pretty scary.
Nice choice!!
Daily driver - Bronco
Off Road - Wrangler
Best of both worlds - Bronco.
Unless your driving is mostly off-road Bronco all day
Daily driving 2012 Wrangler Sahara since Sep 2011.
"5 foot 8 man"... I felt that bro....
If your priority is on road more than off road then just get a honda civic. it'll crush both of those on road. As with the bronco vs the jeep offroad, the civic will be demonstrably worse offroad but also be demonstrably better on road, so according to your measurements, it's a better vehicle
my first vehicle was an 87 Bronco... you know what i would pick! lol BRONCO!!!
Here in Utah the dealers are marking up the New Bronco model I would buy 30k above sticker.
Ford did such a great job with the Bronco!!! The 2 door short wheelbase makes it perfect for rock crawling 👌
@@andyham6094 yeah I agree, it's just wierd they all use the 4 doors for off road tests
If you're going rock crawling, you do not want IFS!!!
