Ray-ban is overstepping by forcing their standards about privacy. You made a very good point about the disparity of the real world and then there's Ray-Ban's.
ray ban adding that bright led really kills the experience for me. i bought these mainly to discreetly record during quiet concerts (filming is allowed) but i don't want to disturb other concert goers. the flashing of the led is so bright in the relatively dark concerts that it's a deal breaker for me. i will try this method to see if it's feasible.. if not, definitely selling these.
did it work?
Did it work with you??
Could you answer please 🙏
You can set the light to low in the app
@@paprisake_07 that's only for the notification LED, not the front facing one
Thanks for this reveal! Game changer. I tested other methods with covering. drawing a black circle on your finger with black ink works. Or wearing a band-aid with a black circle on the part of your finger easiest to cover. I have brown skin but that didn't work. I will get a tan and test it out :P
Just get a black cloth
Ehat if you started the recording and then covered the LED. Does it still work? Instead of carrying electric tape for the camera, why not cary an LED sticker for when you want to film incognito?
@tricks Tips fix great video , i have duct tape can i use it in stead of electrical tape ?
There is not expectation of privacy in public.
Then why bother covering the light?
@@hjf3022 idk how you came to that conclusion
@@thecapnpoopy that was a question, not a conclusion.
If there is no expectation of privacy in public, what do you need to hide the LED for? What problem does covering the LED solve?
@hjf3022 the fact that you don't need to know im recording you
@@norsemendanes9622 and likewise since there is no expectation of privacy in public, there shouldn't be an issue with people knowing you are recording them. It's likely this LED is primarily there to disincentivise people from filming in places where they shouldn't be. E.g toilets, changerooms, private places where there is an expectation of privacy (people wear glasses in those places too).
What kind of place do you wish to film people, but where it would cause problems for you if they knew?
Are there not better spycam glasses out there? With no LED indicator to begin with?
Not in America.. but in Asia, yes
europe? @@cadillaccasper
Hey man, send us the names of any that you know! @@cadillaccasper
@@cadillaccasper do you have any recommendations? All the ones I've seen have terrible quality videos
@@HoneGate-jo7nuthere are no good ones, they all use toy grade Chinesium cameras.
What if you used a sewing needle to PUNCTURE the LED light? Dicey move - because if it doesn't work you ruin the glasses. What do you think?
Just buy a good warranty and act stupid if it fails.
Maybe one way reflective tape would work? The sensor can still see light and you won't be able to see the led since its reflective
Good Idea only issue i won't be able to use meta IA when you ask it what does it see
your just blocking the light not the camera
Can u use your finger instead of the tape?
Yes u can
I bet a fingertip Band Aid would work
Ever try a drop of black ink or black epoxy over the LED?
Hi bro , can the recorded thing turn from meta app to gallery automatically without wifi , only bleutooth?
I'm not sure since the glasses are using their own wifi network to connect to your phone.

Is there possibility to accept phone call during streaming without that streaming video interruption ? Can't find such info anywhere .....
I haven't tried this yet but I know it will stop any music playing when you begin recording. Though that might just be to avoid copyright infringement.
Just add the other person to the live assuming you’re trying to cheat?
@@noncompliance4100 bought glasses and tested, and of course you can't do that because simply phone is supporting one bluetooth device/connection at the time ....
@@mohammadalsayab503 but he can only watch, can't talk to my strem .....
Instead of carrying a black tape, i guess we can use phone case. As phones are always with us. Possible?
wanted to buy to live stream my days but didn't want to stand out with a bright blinking LED, thank you!!!
They only have a 60 second limit per video
@@adityagarg190 60 second limit only applies to regular recordings, livestreams can go up to 30 minutes.
@@null_geodesic live streams, can actually go longer, it’s just a matter of when your battery will die, which is roughly around 30 to 40 minute mark. My last stream went about 40 minutes. there is a method to have your live stream unlimited, unlimited video length
Open it and clip one of the leads to the LED
Does it work with livestreams too?
how are you able to livestream? my meta icon wont show up in FB nor Instagram LS
@@grafix8789it’s a tab u gotta click while opening live, the steps are on TH-cam
Try making the cover only big enough to cover the light diode inside the light sensor ring. The demos or is the ring around the light. Keep that uncovered.
have you tried to see if that works?
im gonna try this i hope it works if it does youre a genius
Did it work?
Your a genius
Will this work with stories first gen ?
I didn't try those, these are my first ones
Stories dont have a blockinglight sensor
@@Matanumi Thanks for the info thats good to know
First Gen, cover the light… and they don’t know your covering it.
Camera record time??
I think 60 seconds
Why do you mentioned you need to carry a Black Electrical Tape to cover the camera for 1seg?
You can just use your finger and problem solved.
It will leave a fingerprint on the camera lens and distort the video.
Surely just a finger print mark left on the still camera tho… not the video camera tho.
@@ronr3133 Some people are really greasy and like fried chicken and pepperoni slices.
You don't need to carry a piece of tape. You just cover it with your finger.
I know that's a real stretch but it works
I try to avoid touching my glass as much as possible as skin produces a natural oil which might leave noticable streaks on the lens. It's a habit that I just got used to when working with larger cameras and lenses where it is very noticible. Perhaps not so noticeable with tiny lenses like this or cell phones but still concerned it could degrade the image quality.
@@noncompliance4100 i agree with you
Holy fuck it works, I was actually playing around with it and couldn’t get it to work, what finally worked for me it is putting my entire palm over the camera.
What if you just put ink on the light with a black marker?
I red somewhere that somebody tried this and it didn't work
Nope. Its a glass so thr marker does nothing
Have any one try cover with aluminium foil. Then black tape?
Smile you're on candid camera.
This is a nice hack. It is of course easily reversible. The only use I can see for the light is if you were filming up close in the dark then perhaps the light might provide some illumination?
I have read people have drilled into the led and disabled it but that is a bit risky. I have also read that if you put just a pinhole in the middle of the tape then that is enough to start recording without covering the camera lens.
Yeah I don't want to drill into mines, I may try your trick of putting a pinhole in the tape. I wish somebody hack those and disable this light and allow filming in horizontal mode.
@@TricksTipsFixypu need the SDK and no one has it
I had no clue that there were Meta smart glasses😂
Now you know.
Most talked about wearable tech since October
No not apple vision pro those are way overpriced for what they are
Instead of carrying electrical tape ... just use the black cloth that came with Meta. It does the job!
I think you would need to make the blocking light tape smaller to cover just the led or carefully snip the led wire inside the device
yeah snip that wire would be the best solution.. or if somebody could hack them and disable the light
Based on the principle you discovered, I think 'reflection' is more meaningful than 'obstruction'. A simple experiment, if you tilt a mirror at 45 degrees to block the LED, it won't trigger an alarm when taking a picture. Because the light from the LED is reflected away, and the external light is reflected into the brightness sensor. So, it's likely that placing a small 45-degree reflective mirror in front of the LED can achieve the task. Of course, the other side of the reflective mirror can be blackened.
Any chance you can try the pinhole trick for us?
I will! right now I sent mine to have prescription lenses installed.
@@TricksTipsFixappreciate you testing these methods out
I’m thinking the pinhole trick might just work
Let us know when you test it out
Thanks
@@TricksTipsFixdid you post it?

They need to add the option to turn both the led and camera off. Other wise I would have bought these glasses by now but nope.
It is beyond stupid that they did that because if you’re in public, there’s no law that I can’t record you or have to tell you that I am recording you. Literally that light is the only reason I won’t buy those damn glasses.
This is why we can't have nice things
Keep quite bastard 😊 whats your problem
how to film when it is covered with electrical tape?
The one minute video length is ridiculous. Streaming for 30 minutes is better but you have to have a good internet connection the entire time.
Can you only live stream for 30 minutes at a time ?
@@lisalisaukuk That is my understanding. As a workaround, you could make multiple 30-minute live streams all private initially and then download them and edit them together into a longer video. The problem is that if your internet you could have problems. Memory is cheap so I have no idea why they don't allow storing longer videos on the glasses.
Can't you just use your finger to cover it
yes but you will leave finger prints on the camera lens everytime
Invasion of privacy. I have been seeing people wearing sunglasses indoors lately. They can video tape or photograph them if they go to the bathroom or locker room. I hope they get a lawsuit when it happens
These suck...On the original Rayban stories. You can cover the led with electrical tape while filming and taking pictures on god
I feel like this is the 21st century version of having a cane with a mirror at the bottom of it.
What about your phone
Learn laws. You have no expectation of privacy in public. Baffles me regular people don’t know laws.
2:20 u don’t press the button. Ur finger obviously doesn’t move. 2:23 u click it before u flip around. U r lame

I'll make sure to consult you for all my pressing matters in the future. Your expertise is truly awe-inspiring. Your condescending tone is just the cherry on top of your wisdom.
This trick is useless with pictures
Just use your thumb.
Actually if you cut it smaller or make a hole inside you can bypass it or have minimum appearence
I was using my thumb at first but noticed that I was leaving finger prints all over the camera lens.
just cover it with your shirt and finger then so you don't leave a print lol@@TricksTipsFix
Someone said a little bit of black nail polish
Just carry a black cloth
Ray Ban thinks the world should know what I'm doing with my camera. It lets the public know every time I switch it on. No other camera in the world does this other than stage cameras which let you know which is on so you can turn toward them. Only RayBan puts the needs of others ahead of the needs of it's owner. Ray Ban has woke optics that work against you not for you.
