I’m super impressed with this product. Haven’t purchased yet, but great video to encourage testing this out. Blows my mind to think that in a couple years something like Apple Vision Pro will likely be in a similar form factor. May we all live in interesting times 😎
New to the channel, and great video! Really nicely formatted, prepared, and presented. I tried out these sunglasses and ended up loving them enough to buy a second pair in prescription-definitely one of my favorite tech products to recently come out (especially when the multimodal AI finishes public beta testing shortly). I will say I was dying laughing when you described “having meta in my head” at 9:10 😭
I actually want these. They look good and seem useful...too bad about it being tied to Meta. I might get them if they are jail broken to get rid of the Meta stuff. I just want a good enough camera/Mic and Bluetooth connectivity on a pair of Ray -Bans.
@@MarcusCreatesI bloody love that, or if they’d make these so you could connect to my Apple Watch so I can leave my phone behind. I do daily dog walks on the beach and only carry my phone in case I see something photo worthy. That and the ai assistant sound great, super handy in the workshop when my hands are busy. Great review, thanks. 👍
I am in the same boat. I have my own AI self host infrastructure. My core of mobile apps have connected to my own services for years. I am not optimistic. I have waited over a decade for a decent open source smart watch.. oh and an E-ink reader as well. There are always shortcomings when jail breaking and much to be desired. Maybe now is the time we will see fully open hardware kits created by a community. We no longer need corporate cloud services for speech recognition and basic alexa / siri tasks. An open source crowd fund initiative might actually deliver. The timing is right.
We looked at these in vision express, didn’t give any personal details to the shop, this morning I have this video on my YouTude, thanks META, love you tracking movements 🎉, the glasses were great too, not too heavy, looking like a great birthday present 🎉🎉🎉
I think they are 1-2 years away from more practical and being able to integrate our own LLM's in them . And 2 -3 years away from having a slicker design longer battery, better cam, better processing, 3-5 years away from a mass lifestyle shift.
I probably agree with you. To be honest I really wasn’t expecting them to be just as good as they currently are. Definitely feels like living in the future a bit.
you still need your phone as they are not stand alone. i have them. if you want to listen to music you still need it to coonnect to your phone. the only stand alone feature is the camera
I have been interested in a smart glass wearable for some time now. It seems like they've finally reached a point where they can be useful in some everyday tasks for me. Even though I don't wear regular glasses, I might try the sunglass version. The Ai integration is the major selling point to me.
I think people like myself will want our own open source LLM's in them instead of Meta's. Being able to train it what you do everyday who you speak with, how to improve could be beneficial to life and individuals would be able to sell or license their own data if they want like Trons discs - wait did i just create another new type company ? 🤔
I think my biggest issue with this is people taking them into spaces like bathrooms and changing rooms, because even with the light, they are still more discrete than having your phone out
0:21 - You mentioned these glasses helped you leave your phone at home. But you can’t really use the glasses without phone. There is no internet on the go???
Great presentation, Marcus. What's your guess on these glasses recording at 4K with landscape option? For one's own safety in a crowd at night, can the little white light be turned off or covered with a black dot?
These glasses are becoming really interesting and over time I foresee it becoming mainstream as the adoption rate increase due to technology advancements. Are they also compatible with Android? I would love to see audio GPS route navigation integrated into these glasses, that would assist reaching destinations without being distracted using Google maps on my phone.
As an artist and maker, there’s a lot I like about the idea of a wearable POV camera. I would love to be able to record my process in landscape mode, and I would love to be able to record videos longer than 60 seconds of what I’m doing. I do like the idea of having POV videos of making things without having to set up an overhead shot (and without needing to keep my head out of the shot while I work). I don’t think the tech is quite there yet, but it seems promising for what I’d want to use it for. Other reviewers have talked about the need to adjust the angle of their head to accommodate for the camera being only on one side, and that might create postural problems in addition to the stiffness and back issues that come from sitting in one place and making stuff for hours on end, so that’s another drawback for me. Thank you for describing what you like about these glasses. I can see how reducing the impulse to bury your face in your phone could help in regards to being more present with the people and life that’s happening around you. Separating the camera/talking on the phone/listening-to-audiobooks functions of a smartphone from the parts that demand my visual attention would be helpful for me as well, as someone who wants to spend more time creating and less time consuming what others have created. That said, thank you for creating this video!
Thanks Marcus for reviewing this, I have question, probably stupid one. I am just concerned about health related issues of glasses on long run. As it is so close to your brain, and eyes, and important organs, anything to worry about electromagnetic radiation from the glass?
I would say the only negative is I can only record up to 1 minute in length; however, the Meta Ray Ban Smart Glasses are nice especially being able to obtain 'prescription' glasses. I am addicted to mine as well. I do utilize mine for listening to music, work calls (via bluetooth) and receiving calls on the go especially while driving via double tab to pick up the call and double tab to end the call. Great video. Thanks!

An interesting next step. I integrated an Apple Watch into my life a few years ago and find that I don't reach for my phone as much. It helps manage notifications and allows me to access my calendar etc at a glance. Sounds like to glasses could be a good way to go. I do find that I'm charging something regularly. Also, I keep a 10,000 Ma battery close now.
Great video Marcus! I think it’s great that these save you from taking out your phone to capture moments that often happen to fast to be captured with with a phone.
This is so fantastic, I definitely would want sunglasses and it will make all be more concious of their privacy. Like dressing rooms ETC, I think it's so beneficial to have hands free in different situations and also all that you mentioned. The fact you need your phone on you isn't really a downfall as we don't really go many places without one, however it would be cool to have a separate option for those that want a camera and video without phone but that would probably be 5 years away, were these are here now.
He's not consuming as much social media content and getting sucked into a bunch of stuff he doesn't intend to do when he first picks up the phone. The point is that the glasses are keeping him in his real life instead of directing his attention to the phone's screen.
By seeing a car with a smashed window I right away thought he is def from CA. Then I went to your description on the channel and yes you do live in California. Funny and sad at the same time 😂😢
Great video, did you order to match your optometrist script? I have the rayban stories and love them and wondering if it’s worth the upgrade for just the AI
I did get my prescription. And they’re great. The video quality is way better than the Stories. And they’re just faster all round. I’d say give them a go.
The only thing I don't understand how they missed are the speakers. They should not exist. This is the perfect device to have bone induction integrated to the back of the arms. It would make the product way more discreet and elegant.
What would a game changer is if it can replace the lens on demand like with Oakley Holbrook frames which Rayban also owns. Bose frames does the same. This will help me switch between prescription and sunglasses
To add…features like stabilizer for video recording that will be good for outdoor activities so i can ditch my go pro and gymbal accessories .Btw, I asked if I can use my RB meta glasses for running, unfortunately they don’t recommend it.
These glasses need to have a constant connection to your phone to use all the features, so going without your phone would seriously reduce the ability of these glasses to a camera, would they not!
As I said, it’s not a perfect system. I still bring my phone with me. But it reduces the number of times I pull it out and sets of the addictive phone loop.
I see, so leaving the phone at home and using cellular Apple Watch would not be possible? I thought the photos and videos get stored on the glasses and you can upload them to your phone later
I see an issue already- most people’s nose sweats when plastic glasses are on and with the connection piece being under the nose area of the glasses that moisture will cause corrosion and problems with that area.
Excellent video! Do the glasses require you to subscribe to the 4 version, or will the 3 version suffice? Or does meta have their own AI integrated into the glasses?
The fact that I can get prescription lenses is a game changer, definetly will be my next pair. To think of say cycling yet still aware of my surroundings while listening to a podcast!
If you cant scroll and watch stuff whats the point? Thats 95% of whats being done on a phone.. who wants to barely hear a phone call or film in 2k for 60 seconds😂😂😂
I've used HUD glasses for exercise for years, these are a natural extension of that approach. Not a fan of Facebook and won't be leaning in for a product that is all about your information for them to sell.
Awesome video man! I went to the store today to try them on as glasses but I didn’t like the look. However, I do want to try them as sunglasses with the tint on them.
I use it for a year now. Here are the issues: 1. Facebook: I hate and do not use FB, I only get to the point of pairing it to my phone. 2 Battery, if use for conversation, it only lasts around 2 hrs or less in total. 3. Volume: if you can hear it, so are people around you.
Over 80% of the world use Android phones. So do these glasses support this OS? Can you project images on the lenses? Can the lenses be tinted? This basic information would be helpful to viewers.
I've owned these for a month or so now. Used them a lot and even received compliments on the way they look. It's helped me shoot video when I'm doing photography as well as when I'm recording when I'm walking my dogs and other silly videos for FB stories. these are great, though they are not perfect.
Discussing the speakers (4:30-ish) - I'm surprised this kit not use bone conduction instead of speakers. I use Aftershokz Aeropex, brilliant for what I need. Also, until I listened to you I didn't realise how little I use my phone! I'm a luddite by comparison.🙂
Great review! I travel a lot and was looking to get an action camera for that reason but this seems like a viable option. Is there be an option to take longer videos? Or is 60 seconds the limit?
Love your content Marcus! Kind of a strange question, but what is the green shirt you're wearing in this video? I really like it! Thanks for all the videos and happy new year!

It's getting close to being something I'd consider buying. The fact you can get prescription lenses fitted is a big plus, and the fact they look like ordinary glasses but I can't see me buying them until they get mixed reality sorted on these things. When that happens, I'm in!
Makes sense. They’re super cool though.
He Said "intergrated" in a few years this guy is getting chipped and Will recommend this to you
mixed reality with that ordinary glass design wont come until 2050...theres simply no technology that can make it happen.
@@neighborhoodtrollmy guess is that these glasses are coming out now because they already have the tech for mixed reality but they need a few more years to polish it. And these glasses are to help adopt people to that new platform.

This type of long-form review is what I'm here for. I was looking for something like this for the Meta Ray Bans. Thanks for sharing!
Glad it was helpful!
How long til meta force feeds adverts into your eyes?
Probably 15-20 years once everyone is using them regularly
Immediately
This is truly integrative tech. With so many people immersed in smartphones and beyond, having the ease of wearing a discrete camera and personal assistant in one's glasses is pretty slick. Your habitual routine with the glasses which you often extend to other glasses reminds me of my treating a previous laptop like a touchscreen. Technology changes us, both individually and collectively. I see why you like them, and I'm a geezer.🙂
Now you’re addicted to your glasses
Hahaha. Hadn’t thought of it like that but it’s definitely the less of two evils. I’m not heads down distracted while my kids are living their lives in front of me.
at least he makes eye contact with people now..
I will say I was dying laughing when you described “having meta in my head” at 9:10 😭
I just got these ones today and I’m so excited 😊 thanks for such thorough review!
I actually want these. They look good and seem useful...too bad about it being tied to Meta. I might get them if they are jail broken to get rid of the Meta stuff. I just want a good enough camera/Mic and Bluetooth connectivity on a pair of Ray -Bans.
I’m sure this is just the beginning. Give it 12 months and there will be an Apple and Google version.

@@MarcusCreates it's hilarious that this comes as a relief to some "oh thank god, I trust the other two so much more"
We looked at these in vision express, didn’t give any personal details to the shop, this morning I have this video on my YouTude, thanks META, love you tracking movements 🎉, the glasses were great too, not too heavy, looking like a great birthday present 🎉🎉🎉
☺️
I think they are 1-2 years away from more practical and being able to integrate our own LLM's in them . And 2 -3 years away from having a slicker design longer battery, better cam, better processing, 3-5 years away from a mass lifestyle shift.
I probably agree with you. To be honest I really wasn’t expecting them to be just as good as they currently are. Definitely feels like living in the future a bit.
their end goal with these is to integrate AR capabilities as well; think Tony Starks AR glasses in Spider Man.
you still need your phone as they are not stand alone. i have them. if you want to listen to music you still need it to coonnect to your phone. the only stand alone feature is the camera

I m waiting for this smart glasses to be able to watch video and text message . This helps people having problems memorise list of stuff and notes.
I have been interested in a smart glass wearable for some time now. It seems like they've finally reached a point where they can be useful in some everyday tasks for me. Even though I don't wear regular glasses, I might try the sunglass version. The Ai integration is the major selling point to me.
I totally agree!

I also added my script to these glasses and I must say they are pretty cool! Thanks for the review!
The very second he said “Meta” my heart sank. No thanks
There are actually 5 microphones on them! Great review, looking forward to an update soon. 😃
Anybody who thinks these are for their benefit and not just another of Meta’s data gathering devices, is aiding the AI dissolution of humanity.
Ai is going to happen no matter what.
@@John-du2mq what is the up side from handing over everything you see,say and do to Meta?
every transaction in life is two-sided. you're here on TH-cam for your benefit and Google's
wait, so, Meta will use the data?
humanity is already fcked. We need AI whether it is good or bad
Thanks!
LOL. He traded in his phone addiction for a all immersive nightmare. Good on you, mate.
and what exactly makes it a nightmare?

An interesting next step. I integrated an Apple Watch into my life a few years ago and find that I don't reach for my phone as much. It helps manage notifications and allows me to access my calendar etc at a glance. Sounds like to glasses could be a good way to go. I do find that I'm charging something regularly. Also, I keep a 10,000 Ma battery close now.

Thank you! Getting my pair next week and your video was very helpful in getting me set-up.
Great video Marcus! I think it’s great that these save you from taking out your phone to capture moments that often happen to fast to be captured with with a phone.
Thanks Brendan. I’m a big fan of them.
Strapping a phone to your face isnt breaking your phone addiction, its taking you deeper into it.
Fair 😂
He's not consuming as much social media content and getting sucked into a bunch of stuff he doesn't intend to do when he first picks up the phone. The point is that the glasses are keeping him in his real life instead of directing his attention to the phone's screen.
Wow This is an Absolute Game Changer and I'm so in! 🤩

I prefer the older versions pic/vid format myself and the bonus is they are older and half the price used.
Does it play background music for you whenever you talk? Because apparently it's important to have.

Great video, did you order to match your optometrist script? I have the rayban stories and love them and wondering if it’s worth the upgrade for just the AI
I did get my prescription. And they’re great. The video quality is way better than the Stories. And they’re just faster all round. I’d say give them a go.
Thanks. Will order a set
The only thing I don't understand how they missed are the speakers. They should not exist. This is the perfect device to have bone induction integrated to the back of the arms. It would make the product way more discreet and elegant.
It does fell like it was a miss
... and if you have to have your phone on you, you could pair your earbuds for a much better listening experience.

META has censored private chats between friends. Who in their right mind would give them one cent today? Have we learnt nothing from the past 3 years?

Nice shots of Limerick, Co. California. Great review 😎
Glad you enjoyed it!
What would a game changer is if it can replace the lens on demand like with Oakley Holbrook frames which Rayban also owns. Bose frames does the same. This will help me switch between prescription and sunglasses
That would be cool
To add…features like stabilizer for video recording that will be good for outdoor activities so i can ditch my go pro and gymbal accessories .Btw, I asked if I can use my RB meta glasses for running, unfortunately they don’t recommend it.
That would probably done digitally as it is too small to have an actual gyroscopic device.@@BeetRoot-n8n

It’s not the phone you were addicted to. It was the media.
Dear Marcus, thanks for that informative video! One question I‘m still asking myself is if you can have live video calls with the glasses?
Question: Do you know the radiation exposure of the glasses compared to the ear buds?
Thank you for the description. I’m getting a pair soon.
@@Lun4rVisi8n this is a valid point. Marcus - have you tried using only cellular watch+ the glasses?
I see an issue already- most people’s nose sweats when plastic glasses are on and with the connection piece being under the nose area of the glasses that moisture will cause corrosion and problems with that area.

Excellent video! Do the glasses require you to subscribe to the 4 version, or will the 3 version suffice? Or does meta have their own AI integrated into the glasses?

Toss your phone. I did it 8 years ago. Just do it and don't look back. Mankind didn't have phones for hundreds of thousands of years and we did fine.

Haha. So true
Awesome video man! I went to the store today to try them on as glasses but I didn’t like the look. However, I do want to try them as sunglasses with the tint on them.
The WHOLE REASON I want these, is to secretly record. A little black tape should take care of that.
🤓
They already thought of that lol. It won't let you start recording if it senses the light is covered 😂
Great vid. Any way of connecting them just to Apple Watch? So wouldn’t need to bring your phone? If you have cellular that is
Afraid not. They need to connect to a Meta View app on your android or iPhone.
As if the world isn't already insane enough with the phones. The next step toward human madness.

4 mins in and nothing about how the glasses work

Over 80% of the world use Android phones. So do these glasses support this OS? Can you project images on the lenses? Can the lenses be tinted? This basic information would be helpful to viewers.
Yes. No. Yes. 😊
I've owned these for a month or so now. Used them a lot and even received compliments on the way they look. It's helped me shoot video when I'm doing photography as well as when I'm recording when I'm walking my dogs and other silly videos for FB stories. these are great, though they are not perfect.

Not a strange question. I’m flattered. It’s an overshirt by Barbour. I’m a huge fan of the brand.

Give the a try then. They’re really great.
Great video Marcus, really enjoying your content and have watched the entire back catalogue. I really like the idea of leaving my phone behind at home, and go out using just the apple watch ultra and the ray ban meta. Is it possible to use the glasses to take photos/videos while not connected to iphone? Thanks again!
Thanks Matt. I really appreciate the support. You can indeed take photos and videos while out without the phone. They sync when you get home.

I have been showing this video to all my students learning English to see if they recognise your accent (they failed). But they did enjoy the video and were amazed at the glasses. I am guessing, but would like to make sure beforehand, that with the audio and mic you can do Zoom calls with them?
