Facebook having always-on cameras and microphones on your face isn’t incredibly concerning? This is a company with a long-running disdain for privacy, and even a toxic sense of entitlement to capturing and trafficking in your personal data.

A better way of saying it would have been that he massively reduced "unintended eyes on screen" time. You look at your phone to do "W", but also end up doing X, Y, and Z, which weren't things you needed to do, they were just mindless busywork or entertainment.
For folks like me with ADHD, moving away from constant notifications is a game changer in terms of ability to focus on what matters for long periods of time.

You've done a great job pointing out all the conveniences as positives, but the reason I returned it after a few days of use.
    1. The battery life was too short (4 hours/non-stop and just being powered on drains the battery quickly).
    2. The photo quality was disappointing. I took a picture of the car directly in front of me while driving, but the license plate was unreadable.
    3. charges pretty fast, but imagine having to carry a bulky case everywhere with you especially in the summer.
Other than these drawbacks, I really liked it, but I'll wait for a version with better battery life & pic quality. Hopefully pretty soon...

Thank you Marcus for making this video. I had been contemplating purchasing a dedicated assistive technology device for blind and visually impaired people for functions like object recognition that was literally an order of magnitude more expensive. Hearing that tools like this are finally achieving a degree of mainstream maturity is terrific to hear. As much as having a phone being an intermediary between you and the world around you was a major inconvenience for most people, it was a transformatively enabling development for blind people seeking greater independence. Replacing it with an almost seamless experience will likely change the lives of millions of people for the better.

He largely did. He agreed the sound is pretty rubbish and you need pods to hear people 4:42 , people can hear them when it is quiet 4:50 Disagree about the AI which is poor as it works only 50% of time. Try asking to translate a word into French or another language. IMPORTANT - AI does not work outside the US on these glasses.
Battery?? I don't think he covered the fact that the battery lasts about 2 hours with general use, and as little as 1 hour or less if you were out listening to music and taking some video/photos.
I would suggest waiting 1 or 2 more year for the next model(s) which should improve these things, or when Headphones integrate the same technology, namely taking images

I will commend meta on making a case (a great looking one at that) that actually charges the glasses. Other “smart glasses” makers give a generic case and you have to take out the glasses to charge them on a cable outside the case, its a more elegant a solution to have case also be able to charge the glasses and it makes the price tag abit more digestable

want the convenience of paying using your phone? big tech.

want to msg someone ? big tech. (meta^3/apple)

As an artist and maker, there’s a lot I like about the idea of a wearable POV camera. I would love to be able to record my process in landscape mode, and I would love to be able to record videos longer than 60 seconds of what I’m doing. I do like the idea of having POV videos of making things without having to set up an overhead shot (and without needing to keep my head out of the shot while I work). I don’t think the tech is quite there yet, but it seems promising for what I’d want to use it for. Other reviewers have talked about the need to adjust the angle of their head to accommodate for the camera being only on one side, and that might create postural problems in addition to the stiffness and back issues that come from sitting in one place and making stuff for hours on end, so that’s another drawback for me. Thank you for describing what you like about these glasses. I can see how reducing the impulse to bury your face in your phone could help in regards to being more present with the people and life that’s happening around you. Separating the camera/talking on the phone/listening-to-audiobooks functions of a smartphone from the parts that demand my visual attention would be helpful for me as well, as someone who wants to spend more time creating and less time consuming what others have created. That said, thank you for creating this video!

Thanks Marcus for reviewing this, I have question, probably stupid one. I am just concerned about health related issues of glasses on long run. As it is so close to your brain, and eyes, and important organs, anything to worry about electromagnetic radiation from the glass?

I would say the only negative is I can only record up to 1 minute in length; however, the Meta Ray Ban Smart Glasses are nice especially being able to obtain 'prescription' glasses. I am addicted to mine as well. I do utilize mine for listening to music, work calls (via bluetooth) and receiving calls on the go especially while driving via double tab to pick up the call and double tab to end the call. Great video. Thanks!

The fact you need your phone on you isn't really a downfall as we don't really go many places without one, however it would be cool to have a separate option for those that want a camera and video without phone but that would probably be 5 years away, were these are here now.
