The Emblem of Foundations didn’t “disappear” but rather Engaged with Sombron. If you look at Sombron’s design, he’s floating like an Emblem and even has features of an Emblem like his attire. In other words, Sombron looked everywhere for the Emblem never realizing that the Emblem was “HIM” the whole time. Only in death, did Sombron learn the truth. But HEY! That’s just a theory…

It is so many theory that I did collect so far, it is possible that Sombron himself is emblem of foundation. another theory could be Alear from other world. because Alear is Fire Emblem and the invocation is: burn us :D it must be fire to burn, just a theory as i collect from others
@@abrahamlee1 That reminds me of one of the final scenes in the Past Gradlon where Sombron appears after everyone returned to the present. He had a rather cryptic line toward Zephia about sensing "An unexpected Emblem" and wanted to be certain, despite "knowing that Emblem no longer exists." Considering Alear's an Emblem now, that was probably who he was sensing. Though, this could mean that he was simply feeling the actual Emblem of Foundations, and Emblem Alear being in the same spot just happened to be a coincidence. Despite his dialogue in his final moments revealing he sensed traces of the Emblem in various locations... I don't buy that in the Past scene specifically. It's all conjecture at the end of the day, since the Zero Emblem is shrouded in so much ambiguity because of them literally giving us no additional info or hints. And certainly not enough hidden within subtext. That's why I'm certain that the new story scenario/characters is likely the only way we'll get a definitive answer. Otherwise, they'd have given clues or showed the Emblem to the player before he died.

In my vast knowledge of Heroes throughout Fire Emblem the only person who was able to achieve a goal while being completely alone has been Anri and Grima , Anri managed to beat Medius back before Marth was alive and I don't think Marth knows exactly how he looks like but the "Burn us" chant doesn't fit for Anri , While it sort of almost fits Grima because technically the Original Grima did take over the world it just doesn't make sense seeing as Grima is a Dark Emblem that Lucina can fight and recognize. In reality it can't be a Final Boss of any Mainline game since they're all dark Emblem with the exception of Arvis and Julius since Sigurd recognizes Loptus itself. It's such an interesting Emblem to be honest

sombron says he used to look in dark caves, which sommie is in. alear says "a solitary warrior like that emblem would know how hard it is to be alone" well guess what's sommies description, its said hes immortal and everyone he meets disappears. sommie only knows lonliness, and since the game is self aware, what if sombron went on a killing spree because he lost his dog..... sombron is thanos with john wick hatred also right before sombron disappears, the camera pans up. what if sommie was walking into frame
@@ArceusDX The Emblem of foundations already does some unusual stuff like not being seen by either Alear or Veyle, and surviving without much issue in another world, so being able to interact with the physical world shouldn't be ruled out
People seem to think his feelings for the Zero Emblem are a redeeming quality, but from what I can tell, it's twisted admiration rather than love i.e. he admires it for not needing anyone. Essentially, Sombron nearly brought an entire continent to ruin simply to prove that he had no need for others, with the Emblem of Foundation simply being a way to prove he had achieved that goal. Oddly enough, Sombron and Veyle have very similar goals- they both want to be reuinted with someone they lost, but Veyle genuinely loves Alear and wants to find them because they were the first person to ever be nice to her.
So it mean Emblem of Foundation is self reflected on Sombron ambition? I agree with the motivation of Sombron to destroy the world to reunite with Emblem of Foundation. He admires how powerful his Emblem is and wants to be the same. Yes this point is very interesting. They both want to reunite with someone they lost. But the difference is Veyle found his brother and Sombron didn’t, the ending has a scene that Sombron felt the Emblem for the last time. Could it be himself or Alear in his eye? Because Alear is Fire Emblem and invocation is burn us, emblem of foundation
Eh, I think that’s partially true. The game seems to want to make you think that Sombron genuinely cared about the Zero Emblem, and considering the fact he seems so happy to have been reunited with it in his final moments, regardless of whether he was hallucinating or not, I’d believe it. But considering the fact that Fell Dragons cannot speak to the emblems they have awakened, it’s possible Sombron had a fatal misunderstanding of the Zero Emblem’s character due to only really having the stories about it to gauge it’s personality from. And his feelings of isolation following his exile made him latch onto that idealized image of a solitary warrior that needed no one to cope with his situation. He saw the Zero Emblem as a role model and the last link to his *real* home. It’s a toxic form of love, but it was love regardless.
plot twist the Emblem of foundation is Anna! Anna is a character who can travel between worlds. The reason Sombron think she's extremely strong alone is that a bunch of Annas fought together and everyone misunderstood any survivor that called them a "one woman army"
I found it really strange how only Sombron was able to see the spirit from the Emblem of Foundations. Whereas nobody else, including us, the player can see him/her. This led me to believe that there was no warrior spirit from the Emblem Of Foundations, but rather something that Sombron subconsciously constructed to provide some respite.
I come up with another idea. According to Alear, it is someone that Sombron truly let in, only he can see. Could it be the goodness or the good side of Sombron who was with him when he was alone. A friend who helper him when he feel lonely
Unironically I feel like it’s a reference to Kaga. intsys staff hates his guts so they made him the villains catalyst for starters, “the zero emblem” would be before the series started so it’s easy to connect that to Kaga as the father of the series and lastly look at how Intsys treats the Jugdral games as if they don’t exist-until it’s time for a celebration game of course
It is really a good point based on the fact about Kaga left FE. And he is also the foundation of FE series. But i read another comment that said Alear is also a foundation who connects all 12 Emblems. Maybe another Alear from another world since multi verse theory really gets into this game

The story is corny enough to make Alear the Emblem of Foundations. 1. All of the emblems are heroes or "protagonists" of other worlds/stories and are separate from the person they represent. In another world there could be an Emblem Alear, and Sombron could just come from that world. 2. When we go to the past, Sombron tells Zephia that he sensed an unexpected Emblem and wanted to come see it for himself. "I had to be certain... though I know that emblem no longer exists". At this point in time Alear is already an Emblem, though Sombron could just be talking about sensing an unknown emblem and wanting to check just in case. 3. In his final moments he chants "Burn us, Emblem of Foundations". Alear is the Fire Emblem, so it fits the whole burning thing. In this world, Alears chant is "Connect us, Fire Emblem". There is a mirroring, where Zero Emblem is "Foundations" being the first, Alear is the final Emblem of this world. 4. Sombron finally sees his Emblem while looking at Alear and Vayle. They think only he can see it but perhabs Sombron finally sees them as who they are and not just tools. Maybe in Sombrons world Alear takes the essence of Past Alear, the one from the war 1000 years ago. Lumera did ask him what was he doing fighting sombron all alone, and he actually defeated Sombron all by himself in that flashback. It would be really timeloopy but if we assume that the multiple worlds do not share a timeline, it could be possible for Sombron to be sent to the world of Zero Emblem before Zero Emblem was even born. Whats left to explain is how in the fuck did Sombron not recognize Alear as his Emblem until the very end, which is a pretty big problem, but hey this is as far as I can go with this theory.
Yes to the first point. In theory Alear and sombron can be in the same world in the past. Though Alear in this world is Sombron’s son. But i mean physical form, not Emblem form 2) In the past when he senses an unexpected emblem, I don’t think he mean emblem of foundation. Because the ring is on his hand. How can an emblem show up without ring 3) yes i totally agree about the invocation, Alear is fire emblem and fire will burn. In other world alear might be zero mean first emblem and in this world alear is the 13th emblem means the last emblem. 4) i think Emblem form is different from physical form. We have never seen alear real mother. But veyle said her mother wanted veyle not walk the same way as sombron. Maybe alear has essence of zero emblem. The story still missing a lot of piece. the emblem of foundation is likely the entity that all fire emblems in every world stems from.. it is the foundation of fire emblem, literally. so... i would assume in the next game that we'll be seeing where sombron, emblem of foundation come from like a progenitor world that gets recreated over and over and over again and why certain characters seem to always show up.

Okay, _okay_ I dunno if anyone is still interested in this but here's my thought: the Emblem of Foundations, the Zero Emblem, is an Emblem forged of Sombron's legend. Emblems are beings born of the legends of heroes (or villains) from other worlds. Thanks to being banished from his homeworld, Sombron is the villain of a world different to his homeworld, and thus eligible to be an Emblem in said homeworld. The really obvious points of evidence here are: 1) the Invocation is "Burn us, Emblem of Foundations!" This references Sombron rewarding a village's hospitality by burning it to the ground when he lost his Emblem. 2) Sombron's scheming over the past two thousand years laid the _Foundation_ for the plot of Engage by setting the course of Elyos's history. Further evidence is that there are 12 villain Emblems before this, but _13_ hero Emblems, thanks to Alear. There's also the scene where Alear summons themselves, speaking their own Invocation and eliciting a flare of power from their Emblem Ring. That comes off a bit superfluous, but I think it's a hint. Because later, Sombron speaks the Invocation for the Emblem of Foundations again, and _this_ time, it works, sort of. After thousands of years of it not working, _this_ time something actually happens. After the events of Engage, Sombron has come to embody the Emblem's legend, so when he speaks its invocation, he summons _himself._ Alear and Veyle don't see anything, while Sombron sees a light coming from behind his own eyes. Alear notes that it must be someone only he can see, and we see through his eyes during that, so Veyle and Alear are both in frame. But notably, he's not looking at either of them. He's staring blankly right between them, and we still see the ring of light shining at the edges of his vision, as if the Emblem's presence is coming from behind his own eyes. In other words, I think Alear's comment is off the mark. Alear made an assumption, but I don't think it's correct. Then he Engages with his Emblem, and disappears. Engaging is the merging of Emblem and ringbearer into one being, with the former fusing into the latter. Two become one… and one becomes Zero. Sombron takes on the role of both fuser (the one providing the fused state) and fusee (the one being fused with). As fuser, his form vanishes because it melds into the fusee… but the fusee is himself, who vanished because he's the fuser. Sombron isn't dead. He exists, he is metaphysically alive, but he isn't anywhere. He has no location, because he effectively deleted his body by accident. When the Engaged state ends, the Emblem normally reappears at the ringbearer's side… but in this case, the ringbearer isn't anywhere, so there is nowhere for the Emblem to return to. Sombron is lost forever, he will never again be able to menace this world or any other, but he is not _technically_ dead. This notably means that he doesn't get to go to the setting's canon afterlife, so he won't be there to hurt Lumera, or Hyacinth, or Morion, or any of the other people he killed or who fought against him. The Four Hounds will never have to see their abuser again, even in death.
Ohhhh it is interesting. So you mean Sombron engaged with zero emblem and one becomes zero. Sombron still exist but no one can see him. Four hounds are dead except Mauvier. Hyacinth, Morion are also dead. Sombron just can’t summon them back again because he doesn’t have form
@@abrahamlee1 Sombron disappears when he Engages with the Zero Emblem because he _is_ the Zero Emblem, and hasn't realized that. Normally Engaging has two beings merge to become one, but he is an idiot and inadvertently manages to try to Engage with himself, so he basically accidentally deletes himself. It's not just that nobody can see him, it's that he functionally doesn't exist. He's trapped in a state of metaphysical limbo, not present in the world yet not dead. And yes, I know the three of the Four Hounds are dead. My point was that like, if Sombron had actually died he'd have gone to the afterlife, like we see Alear and Veyle go to at the beginning of Chapter 22. But because he's not dead, none of the people he killed have to worry about seeing him again in the afterlife, presumably _ever._ Kinda hard to die of old age while you don't have a body, after all.

I think it would be interesting if they did a sort of roy melee thing where they introduced the next mc in the 4th dlc wave before their game even comes out
Just finished the game after dropping it months ago. My theory is sad. Based on the fact that Marth said that no Emblem should be able to survive the crossing of world I just believe no Emblem did. I belive that the Emblem was a sort of imaginary friend for Sombrom. It explains for me why he alone sees his friend at the end. My version is sad and heavy but its mine. Its makes sense because we have an orphan dropped alone for who knows how long in another world. Of course he could make a friend with his mind out of loneliness.
Zero is Culex, preparing for the SMRPG remake, he used Engage to get his 3d form, and fight Mario one less time. he is not from Fire Emblem's world, nor is Zero Emblem, the one he wants to see so much. Mario is the foundation of the entire Nintendo Videogame industry and has fire powers.
I'm not as familiar with FE lore, but maybe the Emblem of Foundations could be Naga, after all Naga's presence and influence is in the foundation of multiple Fire Emblem titles lore and they're considered a god of immense power, more than any other existing FE character we know of I think Naga's the most likely.

Total shot in the dark, but could it have been a meta reference to the player themselves? As in us the people behind the controller? I mean FE series is for the most part a single player game. We "leave" at the end of the game because our "role" is done. Then there's the fact that we are seeing from his point of view as well.

Example The carpet where you enter can be both Red and Blue, Black and White. Where the Blue and White colors are Divine Dragon feel like Statues of Divine Dragons and Lumera, Red and Black colors Fell Dragon feel Like Statues of Fell Dragons and Sombron. Keep the pic of Lyths Castle but on the other side is Gradlon Temple. Both Lythos and Gradlon banners and symbols. Since Alear is both of them Café Terrace: Bigger and where the door to My Room is some table and chairs to where the stables were. Some tables out underneath the marble staircases and between them and on top of the staircase. Plaza: Bigger for Item, Armory, Smithy, Boutique, an actual place for the Flea Market With alcoves for statues for the Emblem Bracelets with there being 12 for one character other than the Emblem Rings. Veronica has a different place for her statue. Statues for the Emblem Rings where their symbols are facing out toward their Emblem Bracelet counterparts. In the center is the statue of Alear and that is where the Ring Chamber/Arena underneath the Plaza. Move the place you Enter/Exit the Somniel after a Chapter/Paralogues/Skirmishes/Training to where the Tower of Trials. At the main entrance is 4 statue bases for one for Lumera in Human and one for here Dragon form and the other 2 for her mirrored or Sombrons 2 forms and him in vice versa Celica: “Care for Us” Aka move the Farm and Stables away from where they are in base game the stables are too close to Alears room. There is something Sombron says in an earlier chapter…I think to Zephia…I think it’s the first mention of another Emblem…the way’s it’s phrased…it almost makes it sound like Alear is Zero Emblem. I think it’s the chapter where Alear ends up in the past and facing himself (or herself, I’ve played both)…he comes because he senses another emblem…if Alear ISN’T Zero Emblem…could it be that what Zero Emblem is similar to Alear? Both Emblem Ring and physical body.
in chapter 25, He sensed Marth because Marth was with Alear, but Alear could be the emblem of foundation because the invocation is burn us. and Alear is Fire Emblem :D

@@abrahamlee1 True, but in that same chapter, the other Alear says to Lumera that the “one who had my face” had hair like hers…even if you even don’t use Engage+ in that battle, they’ll still say that…which in theory, means they see Alear’s “Engaged” blue hair not just their red and blue. So, it wouldn’t be impossible to think that Sombron could sense Alear’s Emblem self even if they don’t Engage.

There theories who point to a character of Fire emblem Cipher or Ø (Zero). It would be strange because none of the 4 characters of the Tcg fit to sombron's description of the emblem but its still something.

Yes i would say Emblem of Foundation can be based on an existing character in the FE series. But it is not necessary from the same world as Sigurd and Leif because they didn't recognize Sombron
I haven't looked into the whole Fire Emblem lore but it would make sense to me if the emblem of foundation was Naga source of the Holy dragons who lead the heroes to the emblem
If Zero Emblem IS any one character, someone from Heroes makes the most sense. Especially the Summoner. But they're likely just a character that never appeared before.

The protaganist would be a really cool twist. I think that just because it was the villian's emblem, I pictured this emblem being the antagonist of the next game. Either way I think it's a great marketing move if they go this route.

We don't know for sure that it was Fogado or some of his long lost brother. but the necklace looks like Fogado. that's why the developer just release a little bit of information to let us guess and excited for the content coming. hope that answer help :D
Burn us, Emblem of Foundation. While this is probably a theory already come up with something started to nibble at the back of my head. I don't know if we have ever seen the ring but invoke burning. More to the point to invoke FIRE calls to mind the idea that maybe he had his world's fire emblem. This also caused me to pause and think about it a bit more. To be a foundation is to be the base of the world, perhaps...the very first ever fire emblem the one forged at the origin of it all. Someone far into the past...someone like Naga.
@Abraham Lee I mean Naga, the first dragon and the FOUNDATION of the fire emblem dragon gods. I get the whole reference of Kaga being the creator of the series but after the incident IS kinda distanced themselves majorly. I think, the Emblem of foundation is the origin dragon Naga, from whom the first fire emblem was made out of (a scale from her) who's fang became the falchion, who stood above all the others. The reason why no one knows about it is because Naga is just someone considered to powerful to be an emblem/it could be an outrealm emblem. Also before Sombron died he saw light, which may mean he had a good emblem rather than an evil one. Edit: my brain won't let me sleep so here are some added points 1. So far the game that has had the greatest Naga presence in fire emblem awaking. A foundational game as it has been what the series has been following since. 2. In awakening, once you get the fire emblem and fill it with the stones. The ritual is performed, Naga then tests the main character Chrom BY BURNING HIM! 3. Sombron sensed the presence of the emblem the most in shadowy forests and such. Well Nagas shrine in awakening is in the shadow of the great Mila tree and is quite dark. 4. Final note, she gave power, she did not need anyone elses support for it...making her someone who stood alone.
There are some hint to refer to Emblem of Foundation, the invocation: burn us. It refer to Fire, flame, and Askr is already a name of bond ring in the game, I don’t think it’s Askr . Kiran might be a good fit since he never talks and he is alone. Or it maybe a teaser for the coming content of Fire Emblem Warrior, it happened the same thing in FE 3 houses and 3 hopes

So we have hint from here. a Protagonist that fought alone without aid. so much ambition. Anri, Alear(because Alear is Fire Emblem), KIran, Zelgius. And I think there will be introduced or revealed in FIre Emblem Warrior coming

I just wanna clarify this here: The Emblem of Foundations is most likely an Emblem based off a seperate character, similar to how there is a distinction between Marth and Emblem Marth. We know the Emblem is from Sombrons world, but that does not mean the character it's based on has to be from his world. This could mean that it could be any character from any world really, because it is only the Emblem version of the character specifically that is from Sombron's world. My headcannon, even though I know it won't happen, is that it might have to do with Advance Wars, or rather Famicom Wars, seeing how that game was the foundation of which Fire Emblem was built. This could also explain why Engage wasn't released despite apparently being done for over a year: Maybe it was supposed to release close to Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp, and that game was delayed to unforseen curcumstances, so Engage had to be shelved for a bit as well. Or I'm completely wrong, which is a lot more likely.
These strategy games, i don’t think that the case, FE have their own team to develop. Look at FE 3 houses it is developed by different team from FE Engage. It might be just a teaser for the coming games or coming content like DLV wave 4

The Emblem of Foundation is from Sombron’s world. He was Sombron’s old friend. I think the purpose of Sombron talking a bit long about Emblem of Foundation to make the fan curious and expecting to get answers in DLC wave 4. Just my thoughts
I was thinking way too philosophically about this, like his friend was no one at all, he was friends with solitude. Maybe even Death itself. Doesn't want to be remembered, to fall into Obscurite. Maybe he was the aspect of obscurity coming after the fire emblem franchise, and our fan support from loving all the games beat that back so devs can keep making new enemies and memories. Yes it could refer to Kaga, it is right in this situation. Sombron has his ring along with him. So I think Emblem of Foundation actually exists. And he also know the invocation. I played tearing saga and Bewick saga as well, they all made by kaga when he left FE. They all great games. And yes emblem of foundation is like the one who left us when we have new connections to the new world lol

I think wave 4 xenologue gameplay looks like it might be similar to the Ashen Wolves DLC side story. Based off the dialogue it seems like Alear was summoned to another world as an Emblem ("Thank you for answering our prayer"). That would imply that you'll be leaving your own army behind to fight in the xenologue army as an Emblem. But that would only make sense if the xenologue is unlocked after the miracle happens in the main story.
My guess will be it is long story line. I see the data weight on DLC wave 4, it is around 2Gb, that mean we will get a lot of content for the wave 4 coming. As it happened same thing in FE 3 houses, we have some questions with some ending and we know more and have answer in FE 3 hopes, I think it will be the same scenario in this Emblem of Foundation :) the game reveal something that you are curious for and it will be answer in DLC or FE warriors

@Abraham Lee It's alright. Some people have predicted the Zero Emblem's identity to be Sommie from the same game, or Epimenides from Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. Perhaps Zero Emblem is a person named "Zero" who may appear as a character in a future Fire Emblem game where they may reject the support of those they care about and fight the main antagonist/antagonists of their game of origin.

If it weren't for the Bracelet of the Three Houses already in the game, the #1 suspect would have definitely been Edelgard. Going rogue and burning everything to the ground in service of her ambitions is... kind of her whole thing. I think the devs only realised that connection late in production which is why they gave us Emblem Edelgard on day 1 to immediately squash that line of thinking from fans. The only other pre-existing character that possibly fits the criteria for Zero Emblem in my mind is King Zephiel. Not only was he also a spiteful loner who sought to bring the status quo to ruin in favour of his own vision for the world, but he also worships dragons and sees them as the only ones worthy of inheriting the world, so of course he'd form a bond with someone like Sombron - the only other being to hate humanity as much as he does. Furthermore, going with this assumption, even the name "Zero Emblem" could be a meta reference to The Binding Blade, since that was the game that preceded Blazing Blade - the first Fire Emblem released outside of Japan.
yes, with Edelgard was Flame Emperor, I would suspect her first, but she is already in the team and in the Final chapter, there is no special dialogue for Sombron and Byleth or Edelgard. that's why I remove them from the list since the clue is they have to be in the same world. If it is King Zephiel. Roy didn't recognize Sombron. and for the definition of Emblem in this game, Emblem supposed to be a protagonist from other world, I don't know if Emblem could be a villain , it would be new to the game :D. More people should see this. I'm actually really sad, that FE Engage's story is so stupidly bad that we don't have much for theory videos, since I really liked those for 3H. And this is the first theory/discussion video for Engage.
I like story in 3 houses, more theory, and yes i will make some theory for engage. Engage is kind of better at gameplay and 3 houses is better at telling stories

The Emblem of Foundations didn’t “disappear” but rather Engaged with Sombron. If you look at Sombron’s design, he’s floating like an Emblem and even has features of an Emblem like his attire.
In other words, Sombron looked everywhere for the Emblem never realizing that the Emblem was “HIM” the whole time.
Only in death, did Sombron learn the truth.
But HEY! That’s just a theory…

@@abrahamlee1 That reminds me of one of the final scenes in the Past Gradlon where Sombron appears after everyone returned to the present. He had a rather cryptic line toward Zephia about sensing "An unexpected Emblem" and wanted to be certain, despite "knowing that Emblem no longer exists." Considering Alear's an Emblem now, that was probably who he was sensing. Though, this could mean that he was simply feeling the actual Emblem of Foundations, and Emblem Alear being in the same spot just happened to be a coincidence. Despite his dialogue in his final moments revealing he sensed traces of the Emblem in various locations... I don't buy that in the Past scene specifically.
It's all conjecture at the end of the day, since the Zero Emblem is shrouded in so much ambiguity because of them literally giving us no additional info or hints. And certainly not enough hidden within subtext. That's why I'm certain that the new story scenario/characters is likely the only way we'll get a definitive answer. Otherwise, they'd have given clues or showed the Emblem to the player before he died.

In my vast knowledge of Heroes throughout Fire Emblem the only person who was able to achieve a goal while being completely alone has been Anri and Grima , Anri managed to beat Medius back before Marth was alive and I don't think Marth knows exactly how he looks like but the "Burn us" chant doesn't fit for Anri , While it sort of almost fits Grima because technically the Original Grima did take over the world it just doesn't make sense seeing as Grima is a Dark Emblem that Lucina can fight and recognize. In reality it can't be a Final Boss of any Mainline game since they're all dark Emblem with the exception of Arvis and Julius since Sigurd recognizes Loptus itself. It's such an interesting Emblem to be honest

@@ArceusDX The Emblem of foundations already does some unusual stuff like not being seen by either Alear or Veyle, and surviving without much issue in another world, so being able to interact with the physical world shouldn't be ruled out
People seem to think his feelings for the Zero Emblem are a redeeming quality, but from what I can tell, it's twisted admiration rather than love i.e. he admires it for not needing anyone. Essentially, Sombron nearly brought an entire continent to ruin simply to prove that he had no need for others, with the Emblem of Foundation simply being a way to prove he had achieved that goal.
Oddly enough, Sombron and Veyle have very similar goals- they both want to be reuinted with someone they lost, but Veyle genuinely loves Alear and wants to find them because they were the first person to ever be nice to her.
So it mean Emblem of Foundation is self reflected on Sombron ambition? I agree with the motivation of Sombron to destroy the world to reunite with Emblem of Foundation. He admires how powerful his Emblem is and wants to be the same.

Eh, I think that’s partially true. The game seems to want to make you think that Sombron genuinely cared about the Zero Emblem, and considering the fact he seems so happy to have been reunited with it in his final moments, regardless of whether he was hallucinating or not, I’d believe it. But considering the fact that Fell Dragons cannot speak to the emblems they have awakened, it’s possible Sombron had a fatal misunderstanding of the Zero Emblem’s character due to only really having the stories about it to gauge it’s personality from. And his feelings of isolation following his exile made him latch onto that idealized image of a solitary warrior that needed no one to cope with his situation.
He saw the Zero Emblem as a role model and the last link to his *real* home. It’s a toxic form of love, but it was love regardless.
If we look at the way in which Sombron "fights alone" it is probably Excelblem Marth.

I found it really strange how only Sombron was able to see the spirit from the Emblem of Foundations. Whereas nobody else, including us, the player can see him/her. This led me to believe that there was no warrior spirit from the Emblem Of Foundations, but rather something that Sombron subconsciously constructed to provide some respite.
I come up with another idea. According to Alear, it is someone that Sombron truly let in, only he can see. Could it be the goodness or the good side of Sombron who was with him when he was alone. A friend who helper him when he feel lonely
Unironically I feel like it’s a reference to Kaga. intsys staff hates his guts so they made him the villains catalyst for starters, “the zero emblem” would be before the series started so it’s easy to connect that to Kaga as the father of the series and lastly look at how Intsys treats the Jugdral games as if they don’t exist-until it’s time for a celebration game of course
It is really a good point based on the fact about Kaga left FE. And he is also the foundation of FE series. But i read another comment that said Alear is also a foundation who connects all 12 Emblems. Maybe another Alear from another world since multi verse theory really gets into this game

The story is corny enough to make Alear the Emblem of Foundations.
1. All of the emblems are heroes or "protagonists" of other worlds/stories and are separate from the person they represent. In another world there could be an Emblem Alear, and Sombron could just come from that world.
2. When we go to the past, Sombron tells Zephia that he sensed an unexpected Emblem and wanted to come see it for himself. "I had to be certain... though I know that emblem no longer exists". At this point in time Alear is already an Emblem, though Sombron could just be talking about sensing an unknown emblem and wanting to check just in case.
3. In his final moments he chants "Burn us, Emblem of Foundations". Alear is the Fire Emblem, so it fits the whole burning thing. In this world, Alears chant is "Connect us, Fire Emblem". There is a mirroring, where Zero Emblem is "Foundations" being the first, Alear is the final Emblem of this world.
4. Sombron finally sees his Emblem while looking at Alear and Vayle. They think only he can see it but perhabs Sombron finally sees them as who they are and not just tools. Maybe in Sombrons world Alear takes the essence of Past Alear, the one from the war 1000 years ago. Lumera did ask him what was he doing fighting sombron all alone, and he actually defeated Sombron all by himself in that flashback.
It would be really timeloopy but if we assume that the multiple worlds do not share a timeline, it could be possible for Sombron to be sent to the world of Zero Emblem before Zero Emblem was even born.
Whats left to explain is how in the fuck did Sombron not recognize Alear as his Emblem until the very end, which is a pretty big problem, but hey this is as far as I can go with this theory.

2) In the past when he senses an unexpected emblem, I don’t think he mean emblem of foundation. Because the ring is on his hand. How can an emblem show up without ring
3) yes i totally agree about the invocation, Alear is fire emblem and fire will burn. In other world alear might be zero mean first emblem and in this world alear is the 13th emblem means the last emblem.

Okay, _okay_ I dunno if anyone is still interested in this but here's my thought: the Emblem of Foundations, the Zero Emblem, is an Emblem forged of Sombron's legend. Emblems are beings born of the legends of heroes (or villains) from other worlds. Thanks to being banished from his homeworld, Sombron is the villain of a world different to his homeworld, and thus eligible to be an Emblem in said homeworld.
The really obvious points of evidence here are:
1) the Invocation is "Burn us, Emblem of Foundations!" This references Sombron rewarding a village's hospitality by burning it to the ground when he lost his Emblem.
2) Sombron's scheming over the past two thousand years laid the _Foundation_ for the plot of Engage by setting the course of Elyos's history.
Further evidence is that there are 12 villain Emblems before this, but _13_ hero Emblems, thanks to Alear. There's also the scene where Alear summons themselves, speaking their own Invocation and eliciting a flare of power from their Emblem Ring. That comes off a bit superfluous, but I think it's a hint. Because later, Sombron speaks the Invocation for the Emblem of Foundations again, and _this_ time, it works, sort of. After thousands of years of it not working, _this_ time something actually happens. After the events of Engage, Sombron has come to embody the Emblem's legend, so when he speaks its invocation, he summons _himself._ Alear and Veyle don't see anything, while Sombron sees a light coming from behind his own eyes. Alear notes that it must be someone only he can see, and we see through his eyes during that, so Veyle and Alear are both in frame. But notably, he's not looking at either of them. He's staring blankly right between them, and we still see the ring of light shining at the edges of his vision, as if the Emblem's presence is coming from behind his own eyes. In other words, I think Alear's comment is off the mark. Alear made an assumption, but I don't think it's correct.
Then he Engages with his Emblem, and disappears. Engaging is the merging of Emblem and ringbearer into one being, with the former fusing into the latter. Two become one… and one becomes Zero. Sombron takes on the role of both fuser (the one providing the fused state) and fusee (the one being fused with). As fuser, his form vanishes because it melds into the fusee… but the fusee is himself, who vanished because he's the fuser. Sombron isn't dead. He exists, he is metaphysically alive, but he isn't anywhere. He has no location, because he effectively deleted his body by accident. When the Engaged state ends, the Emblem normally reappears at the ringbearer's side… but in this case, the ringbearer isn't anywhere, so there is nowhere for the Emblem to return to. Sombron is lost forever, he will never again be able to menace this world or any other, but he is not _technically_ dead. This notably means that he doesn't get to go to the setting's canon afterlife, so he won't be there to hurt Lumera, or Hyacinth, or Morion, or any of the other people he killed or who fought against him. The Four Hounds will never have to see their abuser again, even in death.
Ohhhh it is interesting. So you mean Sombron engaged with zero emblem and one becomes zero. Sombron still exist but no one can see him. Four hounds are dead except Mauvier. Hyacinth, Morion are also dead. Sombron just can’t summon them back again because he doesn’t have form
@@abrahamlee1 Sombron disappears when he Engages with the Zero Emblem because he _is_ the Zero Emblem, and hasn't realized that. Normally Engaging has two beings merge to become one, but he is an idiot and inadvertently manages to try to Engage with himself, so he basically accidentally deletes himself. It's not just that nobody can see him, it's that he functionally doesn't exist. He's trapped in a state of metaphysical limbo, not present in the world yet not dead.
And yes, I know the three of the Four Hounds are dead. My point was that like, if Sombron had actually died he'd have gone to the afterlife, like we see Alear and Veyle go to at the beginning of Chapter 22. But because he's not dead, none of the people he killed have to worry about seeing him again in the afterlife, presumably _ever._ Kinda hard to die of old age while you don't have a body, after all.

…Also, I think it would cheapen his end if he were brought back as a repeat villain in a sequel, but at the same time I _would_ love to spend more time with Engage's characters.
I think it would be interesting if they did a sort of roy melee thing where they introduced the next mc in the 4th dlc wave before their game even comes out

Just finished the game after dropping it months ago. My theory is sad. Based on the fact that Marth said that no Emblem should be able to survive the crossing of world I just believe no Emblem did. I belive that the Emblem was a sort of imaginary friend for Sombrom. It explains for me why he alone sees his friend at the end. My version is sad and heavy but its mine. Its makes sense because we have an orphan dropped alone for who knows how long in another world. Of course he could make a friend with his mind out of loneliness.

I'm not as familiar with FE lore, but maybe the Emblem of Foundations could be Naga, after all Naga's presence and influence is in the foundation of multiple Fire Emblem titles lore and they're considered a god of immense power, more than any other existing FE character we know of I think Naga's the most likely.

There is something Sombron says in an earlier chapter…I think to Zephia…I think it’s the first mention of another Emblem…the way’s it’s phrased…it almost makes it sound like Alear is Zero Emblem. I think it’s the chapter where Alear ends up in the past and facing himself (or herself, I’ve played both)…he comes because he senses another emblem…if Alear ISN’T Zero Emblem…could it be that what Zero Emblem is similar to Alear? Both Emblem Ring and physical body.
in chapter 25, He sensed Marth because Marth was with Alear, but Alear could be the emblem of foundation because the invocation is burn us. and Alear is Fire Emblem :D

Burn us, Emblem of Foundation. While this is probably a theory already come up with something started to nibble at the back of my head. I don't know if we have ever seen the ring but invoke burning. More to the point to invoke FIRE calls to mind the idea that maybe he had his world's fire emblem. This also caused me to pause and think about it a bit more. To be a foundation is to be the base of the world, perhaps...the very first ever fire emblem the one forged at the origin of it all. Someone far into the past...someone like Naga.

@Abraham Lee I mean Naga, the first dragon and the FOUNDATION of the fire emblem dragon gods. I get the whole reference of Kaga being the creator of the series but after the incident IS kinda distanced themselves majorly. I think, the Emblem of foundation is the origin dragon Naga, from whom the first fire emblem was made out of (a scale from her) who's fang became the falchion, who stood above all the others. The reason why no one knows about it is because Naga is just someone considered to powerful to be an emblem/it could be an outrealm emblem. Also before Sombron died he saw light, which may mean he had a good emblem rather than an evil one.
Edit: my brain won't let me sleep so here are some added points
1. So far the game that has had the greatest Naga presence in fire emblem awaking. A foundational game as it has been what the series has been following since.
2. In awakening, once you get the fire emblem and fill it with the stones. The ritual is performed, Naga then tests the main character Chrom BY BURNING HIM!
3. Sombron sensed the presence of the emblem the most in shadowy forests and such. Well Nagas shrine in awakening is in the shadow of the great Mila tree and is quite dark.
4. Final note, she gave power, she did not need anyone elses support for it...making her someone who stood alone.
Maybe that the Emblem of Foundations was Askr or Kiran, the summoner? That’s the only thing I know.
There are some hint to refer to Emblem of Foundation, the invocation: burn us. It refer to Fire, flame, and Askr is already a name of bond ring in the game, I don’t think it’s Askr . Kiran might be a good fit since he never talks and he is alone. Or it maybe a teaser for the coming content of Fire Emblem Warrior, it happened the same thing in FE 3 houses and 3 hopes

The Emblem of Foundations is most likely an Emblem based off a seperate character, similar to how there is a distinction between Marth and Emblem Marth. We know the Emblem is from Sombrons world, but that does not mean the character it's based on has to be from his world. This could mean that it could be any character from any world really, because it is only the Emblem version of the character specifically that is from Sombron's world.
My headcannon, even though I know it won't happen, is that it might have to do with Advance Wars, or rather Famicom Wars, seeing how that game was the foundation of which Fire Emblem was built. This could also explain why Engage wasn't released despite apparently being done for over a year: Maybe it was supposed to release close to Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp, and that game was delayed to unforseen curcumstances, so Engage had to be shelved for a bit as well.
Or I'm completely wrong, which is a lot more likely.

I think wave 4 xenologue gameplay looks like it might be similar to the Ashen Wolves DLC side story.
Based off the dialogue it seems like Alear was summoned to another world as an Emblem ("Thank you for answering our prayer"). That would imply that you'll be leaving your own army behind to fight in the xenologue army as an Emblem. But that would only make sense if the xenologue is unlocked after the miracle happens in the main story.
My guess will be it is long story line. I see the data weight on DLC wave 4, it is around 2Gb, that mean we will get a lot of content for the wave 4 coming.
As it happened same thing in FE 3 houses, we have some questions with some ending and we know more and have answer in FE 3 hopes, I think it will be the same scenario in this Emblem of Foundation :) the game reveal something that you are curious for and it will be answer in DLC or FE warriors

Same thing happened as Zelda BOTW and Zelda Age of Calamity. the next game is the prequel of the last game. and the news about FE 4 remake is coming as well. this might be a chance for them to put more content and a little bit modification in the storyline. like other series did : Resident Evil, Final Fantasy

@Abraham Lee It's alright. Some people have predicted the Zero Emblem's identity to be Sommie from the same game, or Epimenides from Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. Perhaps Zero Emblem is a person named "Zero" who may appear as a character in a future Fire Emblem game where they may reject the support of those they care about and fight the main antagonist/antagonists of their game of origin.

I don't think it is Epimenides because the Emblem is the protagonist of the game, and the dark Emblem is the antagonist. It could even be Alear because the invocation is burn us and Alear is Fire Emblem

Just a suggestion.
If it weren't for the Bracelet of the Three Houses already in the game, the #1 suspect would have definitely been Edelgard. Going rogue and burning everything to the ground in service of her ambitions is... kind of her whole thing. I think the devs only realised that connection late in production which is why they gave us Emblem Edelgard on day 1 to immediately squash that line of thinking from fans.
The only other pre-existing character that possibly fits the criteria for Zero Emblem in my mind is King Zephiel.
Not only was he also a spiteful loner who sought to bring the status quo to ruin in favour of his own vision for the world, but he also worships dragons and sees them as the only ones worthy of inheriting the world, so of course he'd form a bond with someone like Sombron - the only other being to hate humanity as much as he does.
Furthermore, going with this assumption, even the name "Zero Emblem" could be a meta reference to The Binding Blade, since that was the game that preceded Blazing Blade - the first Fire Emblem released outside of Japan.
yes, with Edelgard was Flame Emperor, I would suspect her first, but she is already in the team and in the Final chapter, there is no special dialogue for Sombron and Byleth or Edelgard. that's why I remove them from the list since the clue is they have to be in the same world.
If it is King Zephiel. Roy didn't recognize Sombron. and for the definition of Emblem in this game, Emblem supposed to be a protagonist from other world, I don't know if Emblem could be a villain , it would be new to the game :D.
I think we should know it when DLC wave 4 coming or FE warrior coming. it did happen to the same content in FE 3 houses, and FE 3 hopes. in 3 Hopes, we have a character who slither in the dark and fighting sothis. I think it is a teaser for the content coming.

Yes it could base on someone in FE before . But not necessary from their world. Like another version, another world. But one thing interesting in sombron dialogue. With my power, unable to speak. With sombron power, he couldn’t speak because of fell dragon power. Why didn’t sombron just give the ring the divine dragon and tried if she could summon the talking version so he can have more information with the zero emblem

More people should see this. I'm actually really sad, that FE Engage's story is so stupidly bad that we don't have much for theory videos, since I really liked those for 3H. And this is the first theory/discussion video for Engage.
I like story in 3 houses, more theory, and yes i will make some theory for engage. Engage is kind of better at gameplay and 3 houses is better at telling stories
I still strongly believe its Sommie, because the idea of him seeking out a lost puppy is kinda adorable of an idea, and gives this scary looking guy a lot of depth
Plus all the hints make perfect sense with Sommie
