That's because he's an Emblem, they've all underwent that change, though it's most noticeable on the characters with red, golden or brown eyes like Soren, Corrin, Micaiah or Celica. The ones with blue eyes have them lighter too, and even Camilla's eyes are of a noticeably lighter shade than usual.
You forgot a personal favorite Soren combination of mine. I stuck Soren with Bolting on one of my Hero class units and it is going great. With Brave Assist and especially Dual Assist+, I can use Jade (as a Hero) to strike any unit from 3 to 15 tiles away for 20% max HP as long as she's Engaged. Granted, she makes poor use of tomes, but it still makes for absolutely insane offensive support for any and all Backups.

Actually kinda surprised by the Decisive Strike bit killing. I honestly didn't think it would, so I didn't give it much thought. Helpful on Maddening when even a critical might not be enough. Hell, you could even chip at an armoured unit that way.
Soren's ring is so good, I have him on the last character you unlock and they pair up nicely, give it some crit to their weapon and if you have Bond Ring+ effect you'll be firing 100% accuracy or close to Boltings and 80-97% crit rate spells.
7:40 In terms of Flare's Dragon bonus, try using specifically the exclusive tome of the non-Alear dragon you get. Out of all tome options, it's got the best crit rate (more than the Excalibur used as example here), tied with Elsurge and Nova+5, and neither of the latter are suitable for this. No other tome can compete with this exclusive one in this role. With the Corrin engrave, 90-100% crit rates become consistently attainable thanks to Flare... and it's completely, absurdly broken. With the amount of damage that puts out and how much HP that recovers in turn, I'd argue it's even a cut above the Qi Adept build, being hurt only by late availability in a playthrough. Then, if you want, you can optimise with Hold Out to guarantee survival on enemy phase, and then pick one out of Vantage, Divine Pulse or even just Hit+ for insurance and you've got yourself a monster that'll one-shot basically anything it gets to attack.
The SP chokehold that this game has certainly limits how exploitive these bracelets are so on paper while it may seem ridiculous, its something that is very hard to achieve and only certain people will be able to do it to the fullest. While they all do make certain chapters like 11 and 22 much easier, I dont think thats a negative cause the player has the choice of what they wanna do to make things more challenging which is always a good thing as well as actually beating these trials themselves which as far as Tiki's go is a huge risk to take on maddening mode. The real issue will be once all the DLC comes out and we end up with about as many DLC bracelets as the main story rings.
DLC gives books that give SP, while it's not enough for everyone you can get a total of 8000 sp by using all the books, which is definitely enough to build out at least 2-3 units with whatever skills you want, or to give one unit the most powerful skills they can get. It's not a permanent solution but it definitely gives people with the DLC a HUGE advantage.
@@MythrilZenith advantage is a weird word in a single player game, they will just have the experience of using a broken unit as opposed to people who don't. They aren't really gaining anything else nor are they doing better in a scoreboard or anything. Also unlike 3H where you could just make your entire team gods, having just one or two units have the freedom of using any skills is still a massive limiter on gameplay
The big thing is the dlc gives a whopping 6 extra chapters once all are out that level scales so you'll get full exp. You basically destroy the level curve if you use the same units, it does let you train up units so they can be rotated out during the game due to the low deploy limits and still have them keep up with the level curve.
@@ShadowCero ya but I'd argue skirmishes do the exact same thing and they can even make your teams on maddening far stronger than the story maps you are doing to the point where you'd be 10 levels above the current story recommendation
@@drago_excalibur you barely get skirmishes in Maddening so they're not a huge issue. I saw a grand total of 3 on my first maddening playthrough. The big thing with the paralogues are that they're big ass maps, and with reinforcements that give exp unlike later maps infinite reinforcements. I did all the paralogues after ch 7 to get the bracelets and it took my Chloe from 10/1 to 10/11 and basically all my used units up into the level 18 range. All before chapter 8. Yeah early game is the easiest part of the game but you can apply doing all the maps in a row to any point in the game.
Also worth noting is that if you're using Lindon, whether seriously or for lulz, Soren's Bolting fulfills the parameters of his personal skill (low-level weapon = Crit +20,) effectively giving him a long-range Killing Edge
I've been saying it for a while, people sleep on Soren. Divine pulse bolting spam is so good, you can bolting->Dance->Bolting every turn at range to soften enemies up for your allies, which makes them easier. You can pull bosses from outside their range on maddening while also doing basically a full healthbar to them. Its so valuable, not even counting the rex tanking of it.
I don't know if people are sleeping on Soren. He's clearly the best out of this wave of DLC rings in a vacuum. The main issue is that, as busted as Soren is, the S-rank bond rings for mages are also pretty busted, so Mages had as many copies of good rings as you needed, if you were willing to cheese the gacha draw them (for example, rather than relying on Nos-tanking. you can literally just...kill a huge portion of the mid-game with Vantage + Dire Thunder or Great Thunder with a good tome and a high Magic unit like Citrinne. Don't even need an Engage for it, although it falls off later in the game). Soren enables new tactics for mages for sure, but he's mostly just less effort, not necessarily a huge power boost.
As good as Camilla is on dark knights, I can't help but be drawn in by the possibilities from putting her on a dragon unit (Alear). I do the same for Corrin too. Even though the fog is probably Corrin's best dragon vein option, sometimes it's nice to give pillars, vines, or healing to your other units.
Fog might be the best but you never know when you'll need the other terrain. Just slap that on dragons for every option. I'll likely be doing Camilla on Alear for my hard mode playthrough.
@@silverfortune2205 That actually brings up something I feel weird about with regards to Alear. Why should I switch off of their personal class? Obviously there are better classes, but the unique bonuses the dragon type gives are really nice.
@@nebbythewhale6450 If the dragon bonus is only on the class then yeah no point switching off if you're doing the corrin/camilla strat. It's those 2 I feel being a dragon is the most noticible in the benefits. Tho there are others.
@@silverfortune2205 another big one is Alear Byleth. +3 to all stats of danced units, and instruct also gives +3 to all stats of targeted units. Combine this with the flat 3 damage from their personal and liberation+divine spirit increasing emblem uptime and they have a strong support niche.
I have been experimenting using Quick Riposte+ on a Soren user. I need to find units with the proper/stats caps for best results, but it's an extremely potent combo that I've been able to use in level 50 tempest trails to kill a lot of things on counter. In less intensive setups it's very robust I think, as long as the unit has enough magic for 2HKO's. With rexcalibur and the res drop that's quite doable.
Assign Decoy+Chain Guard is a great way to deal with high attack bosses to bait out engage skills or draw out high mobility bosses or can be used to stall for a turn if you can't kill the boss in one turn like I did for the Emblem Hector unlock mission.
Veyle + forged obscurite with crit engraving + engaged with soren = 100% crit While engaged with soren as a dragon unit you gain you double your critical hit rate with all tomes. So if you give veyle obscurite with an engraving (50 crit) and add in her dexterity divided by two you and engage with soren you will on average have a 128 crit.
thank you so much for making this! i was really struggling to comphrend all these new toys to play with. So far only beaten Soren's paralogue, had to restart Camilla's last night after two hours of fighting. cries in maddening.
You should try Soren + a Backup unit (preferably a Hero). They'll be able to chain attack from at least 10 tiles away with Bolting and even more if they have Dual Assist or Dual Assist+
I used the books on Louis for Quick Riposte and then gave him the Sigurd ring so now he not only moves anywhere he wants but he can also double on Enemy Phase. Combine that with a Spear or a Silver lance engraved with Ike/Roy/Hector and he is just are a menace on the battlefield that can move on his own. I gave Ivy the Soren ring and it's honestly pretty helpful on her. With a wind tome she can become a flier killer in one hit and also be a healtank against them which helps due to her low speed (or maybe that's just me getting stat screwed...twice) Camilla was given to Chloe who is a Griffith Knight and honestly it just fits her. She clears the annoying fire or miasma with ease thanks to her huge dragon vein range and the spd/res buffs just make her even more of a speed demon with mage tanking. And the weapons she gets from engaging are pretty good to use thanks to her mixed offenses. She's like a melee Fogado in a way
The biggest downside of the dlc for me is now I don't know if I should just wait another few weeks to months for the rest of the dlc, or start a second playthrough asap...
"For dragons, the dodge boost is pretty insane." Actually, it's definitely the weakest of the bunch. Fire Emblem is a bit confusing. Avoid is term for evading attacks. Dodge is the term for preventing critical hits. Dodge +50 is basically crit immunity. You can feel safe around enemy killer weapons, and can use weapons with dodge penalties safely. Kind of nice, but not a big deal. Unfortunately, even when you remove the dodge penalties from those engravings, they just go from awful to pretty good. His auto-doubling also adds viability to engravings with super high weight penalties, namely Ike and Roy, who have been absurdly bad up until this point. But again, that changes them from awful to decent.
At first I was going to give Camilla to Chloe or Ivy, but now I'm thinking Clanne as an axe mage knight. He won't have access to the Levin Sword, but there's still something good brewing with Chaos Style.
True, hopefully it has good growths because rn there isn't anything that benefit fists as an offensive weapon which is a shame. I'm also curious about that mage cannon class that was datamined along with the others since I love magic classes, they're my favorite classes after manaketes and beasts. Hopefully they'll add more tomes because it seems like with every game the list keeps getting shorter and shorter, there wasn't any dark magic tomes/class (generally speaking) which sucks but I digress
Hi, I do have two questions: 1. Do you also get weapons like with the characters from Fire Emblem Heroes? 2. Do anyone know if the additional story DLC will be available to purchase solo or only in the bundle?
I was in the middle of my Maddening playthrough when the DLC came out, so I didn't have characters planned for the new Emblems. I found Camilla is quite useful on Seadall, as it gives you the option to give +2 Mov and flier movement to your dancer, increasing flexibility. Hector works well and made my Alfred quite viable, but the Maddening AI ignoring targets that take 0 damage makes me feel that Ike is better in this difficulty--I will try to implement Soren's decoy strat into the mix. Speaking of Soren, none of my units was very well suited to equip him, oops. Maybe next playthrough.
@@gabrielbolanos3871 I happened to commit more exp than normal on him because I wanted to try keeping him relevant, and I also reclassed him into a halberdier. That combined with Hector's Emblem made him okay. Not crazy good or anything, but usable in Maddening.
During my Maddening playthrough Emblem Camilla is disputing the utter trash tier with Eirika, Leif and Roy. But at least Leif & Roy (even if are not that great in battle), they still has some VERY useful inheritable skills. But not her. The only ok passive skill it's Spd + Res, although it's not THAT great. The most REALLY broken useful Emblems in my opinion are Tiki (revival stone), Byleth (dance), Micaiah (sacrifice) and Sigurd (movement) and Edelgard it's GOD tier in battle
My opinion, but that list is missing Corrin (Draconic Hex, Dreadful Aura, use of Dragon Vein to create avoid fog), Ike (Great Aether + Wrath + survivability) and Lyn (baiting with doubles, Speedtaker + Alacrity nonsense). While I haven't used them yet, simply looking at their skills, Soren and Hector feel like they might belong there too. Even Eirika can be quite useful on e.g. characters with Brave weapons or lower attack power, such as the Killing Edge Kagetsu I was running.
i play in madennig fixed w kagetsu great knigth w hector runes sword. Literaly unkileable even if not eye of strom +, try this combination and look the kagetsu growth in mage knigth w sword, its truly insane, i did it by my self and great results
I saw your Jean x Soren video and that's a pretty cool way of using it. I was just using him on spoiler mage and getting 100% crit on Obscurite (with a +30 crit engrave) for free which turns spoiler into a monster that can one-round boss HP bars.
Well, an easy combo for Soren would be to make a high Magic unit a Hero and give them Dual Assist+ for 1500 SP. Then watch as whoever has gives 2 chain attacks from the other side of the map for every attack. I'm specifying high magic so you can actually make use of Bolting and Rexcalibur offensively as well and get as much mileage out of Soren, but frankly, any Dual Assist+ Hero can make use of Bolting chain attacks with free re-equipping and the Reflect staff. I don't have anything for Hector, but for Camilla, I'd like to point out that it's one of the best emblems you could give Ivy.
I think the added SP is to allow you to use the dlc rings without having to avoid base game rings skills. Cuz you're getting more opportunities to spend SP they want you to have SP to spend.
One thing to note is Runesword is a little misleading. It seems to halve your STR while you use it. So it does recover HP but it won't be as much as you might expect because your Attack value won't be as high as it otherwise would be.
On the other hand, this makes it more useful to strength units- when you have 22 strength and 7 magic, half your strength is still notably more damage, plus it is magic damage and resistance tends to be lower. So even the weaker damage output is not felt as much.
Honestly I really like how engage brings back old characters. Fates the idea was well executed by making them amibo with some dialogue while echoes was bad with good ideas wasted as they had so many unique classes. Also robin and Veronica are probably my favorites that got added. Who knows wave 3 may give us Tokyo mirage characters like mirage Tharja
I know this one isn’t an emblem but could you do a video on hortencia? I can only seem to find use for her as a healer but am curious on an offensive build if possible. I haven’t seen one else where and really like how much you break down the stats and skills. whether you do or not keep up the great work!
All of these considerations and skill combos are making me feel pretty intimidated, ngl. In any case, will do what I can to make the best of these. Also, could you make a video specifically about engraving? I'm not sure if any of them are actually worth it aside from Rivals or Beginnings.
Pulled off some shenanigans with Ivy x Camilla just now I ran to this video just to disclaim: Ivy gets 5 crucial speed by max bonding Camilla. She gains access to Axes ( A weapon type I saw small use of but played a big role when utilized - Letting my swordies windsweep a broken Lance) And she also gets extra movement while also still using staves. If camilla isn’t strong, she is a boatload of fun and I’ve been enjoying her the most out of this batch! (I also caved and went DLC, it will not dissapoint you when you see those free 20 silver ingots and a boots)
Great video - but I want to know and I’m sure you’re followers do too - who are you pairing these DLC characters with and use in gameplay? That’s one thing that’s missing. Can you tell us here in the comments?
I kinda wanted alm to become an emblem but unless more emblems are added as apart of wave 4 with the fell paralouges he’s not getting one as in the ring chamber there are 7 slots for emblem bracelets and we now know all 7
Does anyone know how to use the engage weapons other than the main ones. I know arhenbar and failnaught are in the edlegard bracket but I can only use amyr no matter which of the 3 I engage with. Byleth’s switches by class but I can’t figure theirs or the other dlc out (other than tiki). Also assign decoy doesn’t work for me either enemies attack other units even when the decoy is in their range and hasn’t been targeted at all
You have to have their bond levels at certain ranks. The main 12 you also need to do there paralogues to open up higher ranks. You also HAVE to see the bond conversations to progress past certain ranks
I would like to confirm. Does Quick Riposte essentially ignore speed? As in, if the enemy was fast enough to double you, but Quick Riposte activates because your HP is high, yes, it says you'll double, but do they still double? Or does it deny your enemy their chance to double? I know it's not like Vantage, which allows you to go first on the enemy team, so I'm guessing you just do two attacks after they get a hit in? Further, can Vantage and Quick Riposte activate at the same time? Vantage++ needs you below 70% and Quick Riposte+ needs you above 60%, so the window is tight and we have no way of manipulating our own HP by say attacking oneself to get into said threshold, but say you are in that 60-70% range with both skills, can they both activate?
Quick Riposte does not prevent your opponent from doubling. It only enables yourself to double, if possible. Vantage and Quick Riposte can both activate at the same time.
I really wish Hector's Storm's Eye wasn't sword/axe only. My halberdier Goldmary would otherwise love to use him. I'm not sure why he gives you Build either when Heavy Attack would make you want to have less build. I'm gonna still try it out and see though. I can't bare the thought of taking Ike off of Panette. That pair creates my "problem solver" unit.
So i do not think any of the dlc break the balance of the game, while they do make story chapters easier, you have to beat the paralogues to get them and those are way harder (at least for me) than most story missions. An easier time in the story after beating such grueling maps seems fair to me, having more options its also fun. the exception to me would be edelgard since you get her for free and it would be nice if we could choose not to receive the statboosters.
The Novice,Adept and Expert books arent exactly "new" items, you can get them them when you load into your save file after beating the game and these ones are just extra copies you get for free.
@@zephyrfaeborn4768 Probably. But she can be reworked as a agile lance user. Not a lot of emblema with that weapon. On the contrary, two axe users on the the patch is dumb. I would have added Azura, Robin, and Alm as separate emblems
@@Guarde1520 true, that could work, or they could have at least put in Hinoka. I do like the fact that Camilla is a flying emblem, which we don't have anywhere else
Jade with Hector is just a monster and I love it. Camilla might help make Clanne not terrible? I feel like Soren just boosts anyone even okay with magic.
People keep saying Clanne is bad, but I don't see it. A mage who can double reliably without using Dire Thunder, I know the meta is Dire Thunder, but he just doesn't need it.

Thanks for all the info! I was wondering if there were new emblems to obtain. Whew... that update came out of nowhere
I'm psyched to see my boy Hector again.
I haven't even realized the dlc class, now I got to find it
Thanks for these vids!
dude i was so lost with who to give these dlc bracelets to and this helped soooooooo much
Yay!
Assign Decoy+Chain Guard is a great way to deal with high attack bosses to bait out engage skills or draw out high mobility bosses or can be used to stall for a turn if you can't kill the boss in one turn like I did for the Emblem Hector unlock mission.
Engage attacks ignore chain guard
I'm happy to see my boy Hector getting some love
I appreciate the grind, ghast!
For me, I am trying to decide if I got with Soren or Camilla for Jean!
Veyle + forged obscurite with crit engraving + engaged with soren = 100% crit
While engaged with soren as a dragon unit you gain you double your critical hit rate with all tomes.
@@RealNikTrustMe thank you for the advice! I’ll definitely have to try that
Amazing guide!
The books aren't actually new items! You could get them as a bonus for continuing a save file with completion data.
Oops. I didn't beat the game yet hahahaha.
Thanks for the hard work!! 🙏
Thank you for this video!!
With a wind tome she can become a flier killer in one hit and also be a healtank against them which helps due to her low speed (or maybe that's just me getting stat screwed...twice)
Camilla was given to Chloe who is a Griffith Knight and honestly it just fits her. She clears the annoying fire or miasma with ease thanks to her huge dragon vein range and the spd/res buffs just make her even more of a speed demon with mage tanking. And the weapons she gets from engaging are pretty good to use thanks to her mixed offenses. She's like a melee Fogado in a way
Thanks for the guides
Great video!
GOOD WORK !
The biggest downside of the dlc for me is now I don't know if I should just wait another few weeks to months for the rest of the dlc, or start a second playthrough asap...
"For dragons, the dodge boost is pretty insane."
Actually, it's definitely the weakest of the bunch.
I'm not sure if this is part of his brand but i'm having a mental breakdown over 'last evening' and 'yesterday night'
Great video thanks !!!!
I usually run Camilla plus chloe after Sigurd loss for some good dives but then switch to anna plus Camilla so she can dive aswell
Oh I wished you did a guide on emblem Edelgard and emblem tiki
At first I was going to give Camilla to Chloe or Ivy, but now I'm thinking Clanne as an axe mage knight. He won't have access to the Levin Sword, but there's still something good brewing with Chaos Style.
Any thoughts on Enchanter? Dagger + Fist is a pretty nice combo, imo.
@@Rex13013 AFAIK Veyle is the only one with dark magic in Engage. Just like only Micaiah has light magic.
For Rex-Tanking, I think Hold-out+Vantage would be better, since anytime he's low he'll go first and heal back to full proccing hold-out again
Hi, I do have two questions:
1. Do you also get weapons like with the characters from Fire Emblem Heroes?
2. Do anyone know if the additional story DLC will be available to purchase solo or only in the bundle?
Very good video!
Alfred became viable? Awesome
@@gabrielbolanos3871 I happened to commit more exp than normal on him because I wanted to try keeping him relevant, and I also reclassed him into a halberdier. That combined with Hector's Emblem made him okay. Not crazy good or anything, but usable in Maddening.
the books aren't new dlc items, you unlock the ability to get them base game after you complete the story.
I was just using him on spoiler mage and getting 100% crit on Obscurite (with a +30 crit engrave) for free which turns spoiler into a monster that can one-round boss HP bars.
if you don't want to spoil you also shouldn't use the unique weapon's name
Camilla works really well with Vayle too
And surprisingly merrin with her magic growth.
@@Blood_Ronin Wait, Merrin has a decent Magic Growth? Huh, I guess I never did check
I have all the units and have no idea who this crit god is that is being referred to in the Hector section.
I'm commenting to boost the video in the eyes of the algorithm gods
Great review!
Do you know if Camilla's Decisive Strike will go through Hold Out?
Honestly I really like how engage brings back old characters. Fates the idea was well executed by making them amibo with some dialogue while echoes was bad with good ideas wasted as they had so many unique classes.
Also robin and Veronica are probably my favorites that got added. Who knows wave 3 may give us Tokyo mirage characters like mirage Tharja
A TMS character would be neat. I feel like if we did get one though it would probably end up being Tsubasa and Caeda
@@tank7013 yeah probably I'd be cool with them but I'd like Tharja too.
@@ivanbluecool That would be my pick as well. And any TMS emblem would likely come with their partner so we'd get Kiria too
I know this one isn’t an emblem but could you do a video on hortencia? I can only seem to find use for her as a healer but am curious on an offensive build if possible. I haven’t seen one else where and really like how much you break down the stats and skills. whether you do or not keep up the great work!
All of these considerations and skill combos are making me feel pretty intimidated, ngl.
In any case, will do what I can to make the best of these.
Also, could you make a video specifically about engraving? I'm not sure if any of them are actually worth it aside from Rivals or Beginnings.
Çéline has mad drip with that Soren Cosplay.
*Come to think of it, why there’s no dancer class in each emblems?*
(I also caved and went DLC, it will not dissapoint you when you see those free 20 silver ingots and a boots)
could you make a guide about which weapons to engrave to? Like how Ike's emblem might be great for the Smash weapons and so on.
The game really need New Game + now with all the nice builds you can do, but you are blocked from using because of high SP cost.
20:49 Camilla Best Girl, That’s All I have to say Lmao
@@ancientspark375 Thank you for confirming that.
Never thought I'd see one of the FEtubers I follow promo the game I'm currently beta testing and super excited for lol
Sorebs Emblem can turn a griffon knight into a killing machine on enemy phase
Hmm corrin’s was power on dragon case you got access to so many terrain effects on dragon type but now sure for camilla guess not as good then
What the heck Hector the goat.
Camilla with mage knight anna about to Solo my maddening run.
Is the Enchanter class accesible for playable units? I checked if I could reclass anyone into it but It doesn't appear listed
It is not, short of hacks. But it is likely planned to be made available around the time of the story dlc.
You obtained Hector and connected him to Alear. congratulations you beat the game! 😏
Vid was cool
Why is Soren's skill called Block Recovery?
The Novice,Adept and Expert books arent exactly "new" items, you can get them them when you load into your save file after beating the game and these ones are just extra copies you get for free.
I've been having a personal crisis on if I want Hector on Alear or Diamant. I've got more rings than reliable units at this point.
To be honest I find Hector most broken, because Armors are broken and Hector can turn Louie into even more ridiculous one-man army he already is.
I did the same think lol
Remains to be seen 🤤
Would have liked to see Azura over Camilla, but it is what it is
Me too
Honestly I think three dancers is too much
@@zephyrfaeborn4768 Probably.
Do the Nosferatu Tanking Anna instead of Jean.

Soren also has had the most interesting supports so far that I’ve seen. Chalk another point on the board for him against Hector and Camilla.
Camilla should have been the emblem of conquest but ah well.
What do you all think about placing hector on chloe?
Jade with Hector is just a monster and I love it. Camilla might help make Clanne not terrible? I feel like Soren just boosts anyone even okay with magic.
People keep saying Clanne is bad, but I don't see it. A mage who can double reliably without using Dire Thunder, I know the meta is Dire Thunder, but he just doesn't need it.
