      For dandruff mix a solution of apple cider vinegar and water rinse hair with that before shampoo. Or for a deep treatment use apple cider vinegar neat in roots. Trust me it works.

      That treatment is okay as long as you don't have a scalp or skin condition like eczema - which could get really flared up if you do use the treatment!

    For anyone with 3b-4c hair textures, i would recommend;
    1) First finding out what texture you are.
    2) What issues you have with your hair (dryness, greasy hair, flaky scalp etc)
    3) Discover your hair porosity, which is how your hair absorbs moisture (Low, medium, and high). You can do this by getting a bowl of water and putting a few strands in (search the test online its super easy and effective)
    4) Then buying and selecting products according to your texture and moisture level. This will save you time and money from buying products that will not work for your hair.
    With me i have 3b dry hair with a flaky scalp . Also with a low porosity hair, which means it absorbs moisture easily and requires products heavy with oil for me to retain the moisture.
    Few Tips;
    *When you have done your washing routine, i would recommend the LOC method (for dry/brittle hair) before braiding or sleep. L-leave in conditioner, i use and love the creme of nature one. Then, O-oil whichever you would prefer, argan or coconut (i use coconut, and castor oil on my edges & scalp for growth). Lastly, the C-creme of your choosing, i use pink because who has money for something better 😂😂.
    *One last tip if you have issue with hair loss particularly around your edges i would highly recommend jamaican black castor oil, it is incredible and grew my hair back quickly. If you want to be extra get the jamaican black castor oil shampoo from shea moisture. It has extra oils like tea tree to help fight dandruff and flaking as well.
    *This post is too long, but do google and search whatever issues you have research is key for hair care, it will save you money from buying products you do not need as well. From one hijabi to another, take care of your damn hair!!

      You may be iron deficient. But also get tested for low zinc, vitamin D levels, b12, somehow all of it effects your hair. Also do you consume any omega 3 fatty acids those really help with making your hair and skin better.

    if you are losing excessive amounts of hair, it would be best to see a dermatologist. I've experienced this and thought it was due to my hijab as well. however, after being seen by the dermatologist, I discovered that I have iron deficiency which was causing my hair loss. Now I'm using iron supplements.

    For dandruff, keep it simple. If it is severe - talk to the specialist. If it isn't, apple cider vinegar and water, lemon and water, oiling the scalp with coconut, argan, olive, almond oil work wonders. :) Also, keep in mind that hijabs in general block hair and scalp from "breathing" so be aware of the kind material hijab is made of (silk or satin would be great, but I know you can not always find it or wear it).
    Good luck :)

    Omg! My hairline has been receding (just a lil bit, but it is noticeable up close) I will take ur advice because I started wearing hijab the first day of Ramadan this year. JazakAllah Khair for this video!!!! My hair is my everything! Lol!! I haven’t cut it for 8years, haven’t ironed it nor dyed it either until recently. I’ve tried so hard to take good care of it but I always wore a pony tail. Even more so with the hijab. 😔 Lets see how this goes for me.

    I'm Somali and my hair is a mix of 3A/3B type. I absolutely love Shea Moisture products especially their Coconut and Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie coupled with OGX Argan Oil of Morocco Oil make my curls pop for the entire week. I also love the OGX Argan Oil of Morocco shampoo and conditioner which really helps to moisturise and detangle my hair. Shea Moisture's Jamaican Black Castor Oil Treatment Masque did wonders to my hair as it strengthens it and helps it grow too. I cut my hair just below my ears three weeks ago and my hair is already past my shoulders. What I found to be really good is to part my hair in the middle or a bit to the side under my hijab and lay my baby hairs before putting on a light and loose under-cap, and then loosely tie my hijab. I don't tie anything on top of my bun because it used to weight my hair down whenever I wrapped anything extra onto it. When I'm at home, I either keep my curls down or put them into two plaits. This was informative Habiba👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. You guys should also check out Shahd's hair care routine video she recently uploaded, and I believe Dina Tokio also did one too .

    I really needed this video! I've been wearing hijab for a year and a half now and my hair has changed soooo much. As Habiba said, hijab doesn't make your hair fall our etc. but the way you wear it can possibly have an impact on it. I always wear my hair super tightly and my hijab too, and therefore have noticed my hairline receding like crazy! I used to have such full and beautiful hair but nowadays it's just a big mess. This video was a really good reminder not to let myself go and actually take care of my hair! thanks habiba :)

    JazakAllah Khair Habiba! This is such an important topic that everyone pushes aside and is never spoken of. I think most hijabis deal with some sort of hair issues due to the common way of tying our hair really tightly. Really appreciate this video 😊

  • @zinab2blessa

    My biggest thing is talking about how many times I wash my hair. I never talk about it in front of many of many of my friends because they just wont understand(specially those with straight hair). If you say "I wash my hair once or twice a week" they will look at you as if you're the dirtiest humanbeing lols. I have used SM before and their products are amazing, but sadly they are SOOO expensive in here. I just can't pay 250kr for a shampoo and then another 200 for the balsam every month!
    Also try more natural remedies for dandruf, like the apple cider vinegar treatment. Use equal parts of water and ACV, let it dry on your hair&scalp for about 15min then rinse with water. I hope it gives you some results.

    • @jesuistazx
      @jesuistazx 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know what you mean! I only do it once a week because my hair doesn't get greasy easily and my scalp is on the dry side. Washing it more than once a week makes it very brittle and breaks whenever I take a comb or brush through it.

    • @zinab2blessa
      @zinab2blessa 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Tahera Siddiqa I am the same sis🙆‍♀️ I think just most people don't understand the part where the straighter hair gets greasy easier than curly/kinky hair.

    would love another video with more dos and don'ts! this was so helpful,I've had hair loss problems that have improved since taking better care of my hair,but it took a long time to figure out what had gone wrong after I started wearing hijab. it was even worse when people kept suggesting different oils for the actual hairloss; while it can help it was more important to get to the root of the problem in order to actually put a stop to it. thank you habiba!

    BaarakAllaahou fieki Habiba for being so open about this! This really gave me more insights. I converted to islam and wear the hijaab for 5.5 years now and also noticed many differences, but as you said the biggest problem really was that I stopped caring about my hair the way I used to. I didn't take care of it anymore, nor of my body (I gained 45 lbs because I felt awkward going to the gym and started binge eating when I was stressed). Now that I try to take better care again Alhamdulilaah it looks better, but I have a long way to go! I try to tie my hijaab less tightly, I was wondering do you feel like there's a difference in your hair health when you started to wear the hijab in the way that your front hair is out like in this video? I see it a lot and to me it looks like a very "relaxed" style for your hair! Like it is not so tight on your hairline, I wear my underscarf on my eyebrows because I have a big forehead that makes me insecure lol. But that obviously is very tight on the hairline, so I was wondering if you noticed a difference with this style of hijab? I would really appreciate it if you could let me know. Btw, I also use that cantu leave in conditioner, the smell is delicious indeed! I have dandruff too as a part of seborrheic eczema which also gives me flakes/scales around my nose/mouth and itchy/painful ear canals. I got prescribed "ketoconazole shampoo" from the doctor for it, I use it after my regular shampoo and it really helps the dandruff. Sorry for the long message my dear, I love you and may Allah bless you and your family

    This video is so enlightening! Finally a video about hair care for hijabis! Loved this video and really appreciate the advice😊. Last year I started to notice some hair loss near my forehead as well but kind of ignored it thinking it was genetic as the same thing had happened to my aunties and mum who also wear the hijab. But when hearing that it wasn't normal and was due to tying hair back tightly, stress etc I started to tie my hair in a loose bun under my hijab and kept it majority of the time out or in a loose plait when I wasn't wearing my hijab.

    I wore hijab for a while and I know it would be great to use satin or silk material as an underscarf to retain moisture and prevent hair loss. Pulling the hair back too tightly causes breakage as you stated. I found that wearing satin underscarfs and deep condition at least every two weeks helps

I ALWAYS used to straighten my hair cos I didn't know how to care for it..alhamdulilah around 3 years ago I stopped..been experimenting with different things and my hair is sooo healthy now. If you have curly hair find youtubers with similar texture and try to find what works for you. I promise you won't regret it !

    For dandruff apply a mixture of whole milk plain yogurt and lemon juice onto your scalp and leave it on for about 1 hour and then wash it off. You should do this treatment 1-2 times a week. If your scalp and hair is really really dry you should also add in your favorite natural oil. I swear you will see satisfying results. Dandruff is mainly caused from scalp dryness so the fat and moisture from the yogurt not only hydrates the scalp but also eliminates dandruff and prevents it.

    Yaaassss Habiba! So glad someone is talking about this.. I've wore the hijab for almost two years now allhumdilah, but as you're saying I have experienced some hair loss (my hair wasn't particularly thick before either) it got me down for a while.
    But I think you hit the nail on the head- just because we wear the hijab does not mean we shouldn't still care for it like the rest of our body.
    Thanks so much for the video and you keep doing what you're doing gurrrllll!
    Stay blessed x

    I am so glad you are talking about this. when i started wearing the hijab i was really struggling because I have kinky curly hair and if i didn't tie it in tight bun or had it in braids it was just looking weird under my scarf. than my hairline started to shed. I love hair and i use to do hair so I started doing the pre shampoo oil treatments and really taking the time to jassage my scalp and focus on the hairline. now my hairline is much better and i have my hair indifferent loose braids during the week. for the dandruff i now avoid putting any products or oile directly on my scalp except if i am washing it out the same day.

    I've heard brushing your hair when it's wet is bad because it's weaker and more prone to breakage. Try VO5 for dandruff! Love this makeup on you though! so beautiful MashaAllah. This topic is definitely an important one! Definitely something I like to take care of ♡ Recently started to really take care of my hair and it makes you feel good about yourself yeah! Alhamdulillah. This was so helpful JazakAllaah ♡

      Ayeshatjie Abrahams I brush my hair before I have a shower or bath, and leave it out as well to avoid it getting tangled again. Once it's wet, I brush though then add shampoo, working it in but avoiding tangles. The brushing out has really helped my scalp!

      I brush my hair when it's wet because that's the only way textured hair should be brushed. Any other way would ripe my hair out.

    Well i started wearing hijab about 3 years ago and I remember my hair were soo shiny and long but as i started wearing hijab very tightly I noticed that after a year my hair started to ruin. Therefore I started changing my hair routine and I noticed a hugeeee diffrence for example i do NOT wear a thick hijab under my hijab because that also cause demage to your hair (i am refering to that thick cap that you are wearing under your hijab also because in summer especially for students that makes you sweat a lot). Instead of that i use a half cap clothing for hijab, which is basically a piece of cloth quite thin and very common in Europe too that you use just to make your hijab stable. An other thing that i changed in my routine is how i tie my hair now I do a lose pony tail and that's it. These are some few things that i improved and i am still working on that hope that helps someone else too

    Use scrunchies for tieing your hair. It's tight enough that your bun/pony won't fall down and it's very comfortable and soft.

    This is a great video really inspiring. As a hijabi I have realised my hair has become a lot more thin due to tightly tieing my hair under my hijab. It's true we should take care of our hair. Really liked this video keep it up :)

    Always oil the root Of your hair, and also sheabutter naturally give dandruff.
    I was using natural sheabutter for my hair and it gave me dandruff since when I stop using it, it's gone!
    You can it on the tip of your hair.

    Thank you very much! I just recently notice hair lost around my left temple in addition dealing with my hair being dry and brittle since wearing the hijab. Despite my hair being tightly coiled (4C), I never had issues with dryness before covering my hair. I will add internally taking Omega 3, 6 and 9 or fish oil works for chronic dandruff. Once my daughter had sever dandruff and I massaged fish oil directly on her scalp before and after shampoo and conditioning her hair. Yes, her hair smelled a little like fish oil but in two treatments her dandruff was gone. Outside of this, doing what you suggested in your video also helps to moisturize the hair and your scalp.

    omg I thought it was just me!!! I am experiencing this exact thing! It doesn't help that I already have fine hair which got thinner with 11 years of wearing the hijab (I'm 23 now)
    I went to the dermatologist, tried to get help, but now I am trying to change the way I tie and wash my hair to help inshallah
