I went to the doctor and she told me I have Acid reflux,sooo many things not to eat , Especially Chocolate,Plus my menopause going on , toooo much when You getting a little older in age

Ph in the stomach should be from 1-3. Saying that eating acidic foods can create too much acid in the stomach causing reflux. Raising the Ph to combat reflux will also combat digestion causing a slower processing of food. Something is not quite right here.
I agree. What angers me are drs that want you to take a PPI to lower acid in stomach. For example, I told my dr today that if I lowered my stomach acid I’d be vulnerable to bacteria in my food or parasites in my food that I’m not aware of. I said that my pH balance needs to be between 1-3 so that my acid can destroy bad bacteria. My dr then says “you want to get better, don’t you? She was irritated with my questions I could tell. I’ve been doing my homework on this because I have erosive esophagitis. I’m confused now. If I keep my stomach acid acidic, I’m screwed. If I keep my stomach acid alkaline, I’m screwed too. Drs never tell you the root cause. They just want to prescribe PPI’s & come back in 3-4 months 🙄

Apparently we need just the right amount of acid in our stomachs. Some of us can produce too much, while others produce not enough, which unfortunately both leads us to have reflux or Gerd.
