I would... Put a caveat on this. Yes, if you have this extreme goals I'd definitely go and hang around people with those same goals. Otherwise you will be frustrated.
Importantly though if you do not feel driven by such extreme goals do not feel compelled to have them. If anything there's a severe lack of value attached to being content with what you have. It is okay to want modest improvements. It's okay to not want to leave some massive legacy. It's okay not to want a bunch of influence. It's absolutely okay to make a modest living and not strive for anything else. Do what makes you happy. And be sure you actually know what will make you happy. Rarely is it so simple as "make more money."

I think what's more important about this message is that extreme goals are often laughed down by other people with humble goals, and so its not that its not ok to want modest living, indeed I wish for many things of modest quality, but rather that extreme ideals should as equally entertained as more humble ideals.

It's cool that you are like this, but I don't think everyone is. I'd prefer to have simpler goals, and a calmer, simpler life. I'd like to change the world, but not dramatically. I don't want to be rich or famous. I don't want tons of followers or for people to idolise me. I just want to make an extra person smile today

Yes this! I love the "I want to change the world" mindset but it's very existential. Yes there needs to be changes in the world but life is much simpler than that. My main goal right now to is be more conscious of my thoughts and actions so I can be the best parent to my children.

Very true. Also talking about your goals also ingrains them in your mind. It also makes you feel more accountable for those ideals when other people are involved in them. Most people dont want to feel like they have failed. So if you share what you want to do with your friends. Not only do you not want to fail for yourself but also the people around you.

Personally, it's hard for me to balance having Extreme goals and be grateful. How can I be grateful if I'm always wanting more? I feel great when I'm grateful. I am still trying.

    • @jameshueston2396

Keeping a gratitude journal changed this for me. I always write down anything I am grateful for, anything good anyone said about me, or anything big I accomplished. That way when I’m always striving for success, failing, and getting back up, I have a record of all of the goals I did actually accomplish to prove to me that I can do it and this next challenge isn’t actually all that bad.

I find it hard to reconcile my desire to be living proof that anyone with any problems can overcome them with myself not feeling able to overcome. It’s soo strange to feel the desire to change a world you are starting to believe may not be worth saving. Though if I will be unable to overcome my own situation what right would I have to suggest others should be able to overcome theirs. I hope if I able to make it through this that I’ll be able to find such an answer. I fear I’m slowly becoming a nihilist that wants to be an existentialist. It’s definitely the last thing I ever would want for myself, but how can I that be true when it isn’t?
You definitely pose great questions. Thank you for speaking out your viewpoints. I’d venture to suggest that your ability, be it now and greater in the future, to reach people and challenge closely held beliefs will be one of your greatest tools in your tool belt to inflict change. Your peace, calming to those who listen and anger not at people but at the psyche. It’s just refreshing.
Maybe the problems I face are created by the American psyche as you call it. Or maybe it’s from the realization that there is a major problem with the American psyche while being surrounded by people who believe it’s okay. Definitely a point to think about.
Maybe leaving would be the best thing. I just fear not for my own self but for the many people I won’t be able to help if I’m not first able to help myself.
Regardless, the future is an untold story that will come true. I just hope mine will one day make a difference. Thank you for being an inspiration and giving just a little bit more hope that the problems i see may be solvable.

I hope for the best for you. Don't give up.
      I mean it.
If we are feeling sad about the world's condition, many other people probably feel that way too. If we can be a positive example of hope and change, even in minor ways, we can encourage others to change their attitude and be good examples as well.❤

I've achieved some great shit in my life ,but beyond a dream of going private and making 40-50% more sounds more than enough Eventually times come and realisation of own mortality sets in ,and then you ask a simple question ...why? I'm an M.D doing some hospise side job, and when you come to a wife of a great man and she is dying at the age of 50, and he is but a shell of a man ,and you talk over a smoke ,his biggest regret is not being around , so it's great to conquer the world at 20 , but when 40 hits ,it hits like a truck ,and then you ask yourself ...why? And there is silence.

I still have many problems i have to conquest but i have the will to fight and never stay inside the jail of my own mind and stop going forward and try to better myself so i could spread that around my people. Life's meaning is not to die with big bank account and with nice clothes but to go thru the fucking guttters clothes all ripped and so u can say "holy shit WHAT A RIDE" and while we do this; each one teach one :) we all came from the same starstuff. and we are currently traveling thru space in a spaceship called earth. just a facts haha.

Not everyone is trying to be Superman, because most people are realistic. If you think big dreams change the world, you go for it. I think separating from people who don't think identically to you is part of the problem. We have to accept each other's desires and needs, whether or not they want to talk to us all the time about how full our dream journal has gotten. I love the diversity of thought, that some people love simple lives, or complex lives or even mediocre lives, because we're just... different... and there's beauty in that. As for people in Bali "making tons of money and achieving their dreams," no they are not. Most people in Bali are below the poverty line. That's why they dream big. They have to believe things get better, they have to have hope. So I don't know what you're selling there, but it's disingenuous. And yes, you are saying to cut off people who don't have big goals. You literally did exactly that.
I don't know your purpose of trying to populate your thought process, but your approach and the creepy mask just give me bad vibes about you.
