@mattmcdowell1218 If you don't mind my asking, where did you buy your car and did the dealer have much of a markup over MSRP or any additional BS fees?
@@cmbiker Just now seeing your question. I got it at DPatrick Honda in Evansville, IN. I paid MSRP, no markup except for their usual doc fees and they included all weather mats. I tried to get them to come off MSRP but they wouldn’t budge.
@@mattmcdowell1218 Thanks. I picked up one in SGP 3 days ago for about $500 under MSRP and got some of their BS fees knocked off, but had to drive 2 hours away to get this deal. BTW, I find the fueling and throttle response at slow speeds in 1st and 2nd to be a bit jerky. Nothing to do with shifting. For example, if I'm decelerating from around 4K to 1K in 2nd gear with my foot completely off the pedal, as the rpms drop to around 1.5K there is some jerkiness. If I'm in 1st and cruising at around 10mph and let off the throttle I also get quite a bit of jerkiness. Have you experienced any of this kind of behavior? @@NAUS2K K& N also feeds of the factory duct from the front grill but since there is no airbox like PRL , it pulls a lot of the hot air too. I didn't go for PRL because I thought the HVI airbox would muffle a lot of the sound
It definitely does muffle the sound a lot, with my testing it’s not much different than the oem modded box in the video, I’ll explain in the upcoming vid!
Another excellent video! I plan on replacing the stock intake with the PRL HVI after I finish the exterior appearance mods. I’m slowly modding my car by purchasing something every month. It will likely be a year or so before I start modding engine components, but I would definitely be interested in the caps when that time comes. Cheers!
This is almost exactly what I did, but I just removed the whole resonator box and blocked off the holes underneath. Apparently some of the aftermarket intakes cause power loss in the mid range, so I really wanted to keep the stock one, especially after hearing your idea a few months ago
Could do that too, the advantage of leaving it there is you can go back to stock in only a couple mins if you need to (bring the car to a dealer etc) plus with it there visually, they would never know it’s not all stock unless they start removing it
I got it off through the engine bay, but it took some finessing. I had to keep moving it around at different angles as I pulled it up and out because of how oddly shaped it is. I almost considered hacksawing part of it but didn't want to have to order another one to go back to the stock setup. It's definitely doable, but might be less of a pain in the ass if you remove the bumper.
I forgot because I did this a couple months ago, but I also had to remove the skid plate and squeeze my arm through underneath to get at one of the bolts. My arms are kind of small so if yours are even slightly bigger than mine, that might not be an option

I'd be interested in those plugs, but I can't help but wonder if maybe if you have a large enough 3d printer then wouldn't it make more sense to 3d print essentially the stock air box but just with everything blocked off and going straight into the air filter box?
You would need a pretty massive and $$$ 3d printer to print the whole box in one shot. The amount of time to redesign that and make it functional would cost so much more than just buying the PRL HVI, so that’s what I’ll be testing next!
I did this on my accord 2.0t or at least something similar, and got away not turbo nose. I plugged it with loctite and a piece of plastic Removing the accordion style intake hose and replacing it with something smooth and straight would sound better.
I wonder what if you put some holes in the bottom of that resonator instead of plugging it so that air will be able to get pulled in. Would make it like a oem version of the PRL HVI for the 1.5t with the added inlet option
There would be no point in putting holes in the bottom of the resonator. The front feed is already a cold area inlet right into the box. The restriction is not the existing flowpath, it is most likely the oem air filter element.

No air enters of exits those holes, I may have misspoke when showing them in detail. The back of the intake shows the wrap around flow design. Plugging these two holes does not restrict the main flow path at all, just prevents the sound waves from entering the baffled chamber

Hey there, I installed them already. I was just a little curious. Do you put the air intake box right after putting the plugs or should I wait some time or is it ok for me to place the box right after installing the plugs? If so, how long in hours should I wait for it to cure?
You can put the box right back on as the gasket will slide over the OD of the resonator and not touch the plugs. Cure time depends on what RTV you use. I let my car sit for a couple hours and then took it for a rip and it was cured enough for them to stay
Great instructional quality. I don't know anything, so feel free to ignore, but do you think a similar modification would be possible on the turbo model? Or is the intake completely different when there's a turbo?
The intake is completely different on the naturally aspirated 2.0. I believe PRL makes a resonator delete kit for certain 1.5T models, however I have yet to see anyone modify a 2.0 like this yet
I'm doing everything in my power to purchase a 2024 6mt civic. But I'm having no luck so far😢 they're already a rare gem. But they have 13+ modles with CVT 😭 fml
Any modification to the car can possibly affect warranty, depends on your dealer. However this one would be quite unlikely. Luckily these can be removed in 2 minutes with no trace of being installed if you do decide to go back to the dealer
You must have turned the car on with the MAF unplugged. Make sure it’s connected, disconnect your battery for ~10 mins , reconnect your battery and fire it up, they should go away
@@NAUS2K update: I completely forgot I put my car in accessory mode to roll it down my driveway while I had the sensor disconnected. Got it working now it sounds amazing
I dont know about this. It can be doing more harm than good HP wise even the resonator has its purpose in controlling the air into the engine. Considering how good and efficient the stock intake is and can be tuned to get more gains in stock form. Obviously, all speculation until someone does real dynos. But for induction lovers on a budget, this is definitely the way to go.
PRL did a dyno test and it showed it made +8whp and +6wtq, i don’t notice this difference really but it seems slightly more efficient at high rpm and has better throttle response/noise
@@whereswaldo9089 The high volume prl intake made those gains over stock, i would only suggest getting it really for the noise however. I also got the megan racing exhaust it is surprising high quality, my civic even burples at low speeds even without changing my front/down pipe yet.
Disconnect your battery for a few mins then reconnect, you most likely had your key near the car, or gave the car power when your MAF sensor was disconnected
The little box underneath that you taped off might be for catching water. If the bottom of the airbox is airtight, then it would need somewhere to go. Its hard to tell exactly how its oriented in the video, if it would be effective at doing that. I have a SI, which has a different looking airbox. So I can't go check it out. But, on the several Hondas I've previously owned, all of which have gutted airboxes, they all had a tiny hole at the bottom to let any sucked in water drop out of the box.
I have tested this pretty throughly as this thought did cross my mind. I’ve driven in some torrential downpours and when I arrived at my destination, I popped the hood and zero water entered the intake tract. Filter was still bone dry
Due to popular demand, plugs are now available if you are interested! See link in video description!
Would you recommend this to a regular 2.0L sport CVT? Would it actually make a difference?
Nice to know! May grab some. Would like to go complete aftermarket CAI with a tune in the future though.

Sweet, just a question but could u still get a aftermarket one or no?
Aftermarket intake? Of course! I currently have a PRL hvi on my car, full install and review video on my channel!
If this good for 2.0 A/T?
I would be interested into buying plugs.

Thinking about buying the plugs, I see you’re driving an si, will this mod still work on the sport model
What? There is no Si in this video. This is a sport hatchback with the 2.0
@@NAUS2K they make manual sports?
Yes 2024 is the last model year check out my other videos
So no check engine lights either ?
No, this has no affect on the air flow path
I'm doing everything in my power to purchase a 2024 6mt civic. But I'm having no luck so far😢 they're already a rare gem. But they have 13+ modles with CVT 😭 fml
Could I just tape over the holes? Or would you not recommend??
You can try it, may affect the rubber gaskets trying to seal over that area though
Do you think this would affect the cars warranty?
Any modification to the car can possibly affect warranty, depends on your dealer. However this one would be quite unlikely. Luckily these can be removed in 2 minutes with no trace of being installed if you do decide to go back to the dealer
@@NAUS2K ah gotchu thx, awesome video btw i’m tryna do this to my civic one day
Does the 1.5T engine have the same concept/design?
No the intake is completely different , it also won’t have the same affect as that is a turbo engine
Very nice. I love OEM plus or rather OEM “delete” content.
I just installed them and my car is throwing every light it can at me??!
@@ClipJesusx Glad to hear it! yes once you hit that start engine button with anything disconnected the car goes nuts
Nice video!! Are these available to purchase? 🤙🏽

Just purchased it, what’s the turn around time on getting them out? Thanks again!
I’ll have em out in a day or two. Tracking will be posted on racebuilds when shipped
Thank you!
@brycemurdock6984 with the stock intake right?
@@whereswaldo9089 The high volume prl intake made those gains over stock, i would only suggest getting it really for the noise however. I also got the megan racing exhaust it is surprising high quality, my civic even burples at low speeds even without changing my front/down pipe yet.
@brycemurdock6984 nice nice! Yea I have the prl intake mainly for noise, and I have a vibrant ultra quiet resonator on the axel back.
will it sound just as good on an automatic car?
I made a note of this in the listing description on racebuilds , check it out!
can i just buy the print file from you?
i wanna do the same thing honestly
Can I install these without adhesive?
No
Is there any way i can yank out the lower resonator part without taking bumper off or fender liner and tire?
I don’t believe so. Someone even mentioned subframe removal to get it out, but that seems excessive
@@NAUS2K i have the K&n intake coming. Im hoping to pull out the stock stuff entirely including the bottom box.
Does this allow for more airflow??
No, it does not alter flow
After doing this my dashboard lighted up like a Christmas tree, even got an emission light on, did anyone else get this or is this just my battery ?
Disconnect your battery for a few mins then reconnect, you most likely had your key near the car, or gave the car power when your MAF sensor was disconnected
@@NAUS2K it worked thanks bro, I ended up driving around for a while and everything went away.
put a k&n drop in filter
yes, to plugs....

Opinions on Kia Forte GT?
I would be interested!

I’m interested

I just saved $100 😂
Wow!, it took forever to get up to and through third gear.
Yeah, it’s not a quick car. But it’s fun for what it is
Just buy an actual intake
I did, did a full install and review on that route as well, check out my PRL HVI install video on my channel
There is already too much noise from cheesy CVT and torqueless engine why would you need more?
