A couple months down the line and I'm still extremely happy I got this vehicle as well. Sometimes I wish it had a bit more oomph, but that's me being greedy. I've only ever truly wanted something I can trust to get me from A to B, every day for a long time. I had an interest in the model, did some research on it and found your videos and bought the vehicle because of how much you lauded the reliability of the vehicle. And as they say, it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow.
@@lemoynetaylor5728 nice congrats !!! I got mine in white a month ago also lol. I tinted the windows 5% all around and 35 on the front windshield in CA. Wish me luck 😂 also did ppf on it ! And added and Si replica spoiler !!
I bought a 24 because of your videos! Boost Blue. Had it for a month now. Haven't driven a manual in 10 years and it's so much fun getting back into it.
Ooo I have a 24 got it back in February and I love it! Wish I could’ve gotten a boost blue because it is absolutely gorgeous and I have a sonic gray but still love it in general! Definitely wanna get some upgrades done on it!
I purchased the 2024 1.5 Sport Touring Hatchback manual in February, and no issues. Very happy with it so far! No leaking hatch. The manual transmission is great.
Hello I just test drove the 24 Sport touring hatchback, 1.5 liter turbo speed manual. I feel in love with this car. Want to buy but they don't have my color white.
@@wadep9916 I hope you can locate one in the color you want. If Boost Blue had been available I probably would have gotten that one instead of Sonic Gray.
Drove it from the dealer in Texas to Menands the day I bought it and watched the eclipse up there, then drove it back to Texas a couple days later 4,300 miles total. Had 20 miles on the odometer when I bought it.
I bought this car in white because of your videos. I like it better than the Jetta it replaced. It might be the last MT car that I can buy. The day of MT or even gas engine might not be available in a decade. I don't think the 2025 will have the an MT option. 2 dealers told me they don't order MT because " nobody wants them". But when the do accept one, they sell immediately because they are so hard to find. An oxymoron since they don't last on the lot upon arrival.
I only see CVTs on many new dealers listings with the base engine in my area which is a large metropolis and the only few manuals I see in most dealers listings are for the Touring, Si and Type Rs all turbos.
@@abraham3981 I bookmarked a couple of car sites (Edmunds, CarEdge) with the filters set properly (Civic Sport Hatchback Manual) and visited them every day for almost 6 months. I also bookmarked local Honda dealer sites, but some of them don't have proper filters for manual transmission, so those wouldn't be as useful. I tracked them as they came and went, just to see how long they take to sell, with VIN and color. I wasn't going to get anything but white, and I was in no hurry as long as 2024 model year is still alive. If nothing worked out until maybe July or so, I would've contacted a dealer to see if I can order one.
Yeah, no one wants mt anymore. Bs. I had to get an si for a manual since no one had a hatch in sport in manual. I love the si. I too replaced a vw. 2009 gti with 140k. Threw a rod and dont want to put money into it. Itll get me a couple or a few cr payments at least
I was eyeing this car for a while. Like many others, I was convinced after watching your videos as you documented everything about this car. I am a new manual driver and this car is doing a solid job on keeping me going.
I finally got my 2024 Civic Sport Hatch 2.0 MT6 two days ago. $27,900-$1,600+$499+tax+reg/fee. Had to get it from a further away dealer because walkable-distance-dealer don't ever seem to get MT. Dealer let me go with tires at 43psi (should be 33/32), and they didn't install the body plugs, even though it's checked in the PDI list. Heck, they didn't even leave the plugs for me to install, and when I contacted them to mail them to me, they said they need me to bring the car in. Drive an hour to get four rubber plugs? Are they f'n insane? I'm just going to a closer dealer to buy them. This is why I hold off on writing reviews. I don't think the "technician" doing the PDI even read the thing. Steering wheel is slightly off center when the car is going straight. Driver side seatbelt adjuster buzzes. Compared to my '19 Fit EX, Civic is too high class. Fit feels like a 90's budget car, raw and clanky. I actually kind of like that! Civic engine is too quiet. Even less engine braking than the Fit (L15B1). Transmission is way tighter though, so it's easier to drive than the Fit. Fit transmission is made in Philippines. Civic transmission is made in India. This latest Honda-Sensing is no match for even the 2015 EyeSight. It's terrible at temporally tracking distances and it reacts like a lousy driver when stuff happens, like someone merging in front of me. EyeSight behaves way more like a good driver. 2024 WRX would be a much better car from that perspective. I'm planning to swap the wheels/tires with Enkei RPF01 16x7 with 215/55R16. Yes, that is the same size as LX wheels. I like rubber. I'm going to sell the original wheels & tires. Waste of space. Remember, I barely put 7,700 miles on the Fit in 5 years. I absolutely didn't need the Civic. I only bought it because I was afraid it may be the last chance to get a new non-DI, non-Turbo, MT car. It's literally just another burden for me to store, drive, and maintain, as I don't even drive the Fit that much. You don't need to tell me I'm crazy, because I know.
@@Someonelikekanye Yes sir. I've watched a lot of "car buying" youtube channels and read a bunch of articles. Kevin the Homework Guy, CarEdge, and many more. There are a lot of helpful info out there. I think the best thing is to never set your foot in the dealership door until you have the acceptable OTD (out-the-door) offer in your hand. By the way, I consider it a $1,200 below MSRP because I don't believe in doc fees beyond $100 or so.
@@BDA0531 2024 WRX Base was the close second choice for me. It's made in Japan, and JPY is really weak at the moment, so that helps with negotiability. As I wrote already, EyeSight is really that much better in my experience, also. Honda's non-DI, non-turbo, and hatchback style won me over the WRX's EyeSight more power. If Subaru made manual 2.5RS, that would've probably won me over, even with the DI. I consider even the Civic too big. I like small cars & trucks, like 80's and 90's single-cab pickup truck and what not.
Just got my 2023 CIVIC Steering wheel issue fixed. A defected EPS Rack. Have been feeling like something was not right but finally have it checked out and acknowledged by Honda. Still loving the car.
That’s funny you say that cause like I have a blown head gasket on a 24 Civic and cause I was in a wreck they blamed it on me. That’s freaking crazy had no idea. Thanks so much, man. I really appreciate it.
I test drove the Civic Sport Touring 6MT, the Mazda3 Premium 6MT and the Integra ASpec Tech 6MT. I ended up with the Integra and I love it. I was fully aware of the potential issues with the 1.5T engine but I'm 65 years old and retired and with two other vehicles, I won't be putting a lot of miles on the Integra so any engine issues should be years in the future. I also wanted to get a MT vehicle (since I've owned MTs since my first new '81 Accord hatchback) before Honda/Acura and any other automakers start discontinuing them. I watched your other videos and a lot of the dislikes for your car apply to the Integra -- especially the wiper design -- ugh.
my 22 has no issues. great car. I have the hpd package, a ktuner, an rv6 downpipe, a prl intake, replaced the resonator and mufflers, lots of fun 2.0 6mt of course
I was set on this exact car for my next daily....but that new Camry is such a tempting commuter. The base model would be almost the same exact price. I have a few other fun cars already, so a pure appliance wouldn't be the worse thing in the world for me.
there with you, what did you get, you can get a brand new covid hatchback for 25k in my area, while a LE camry for 29k and you won't touch an se for under 30k
I have a 2019, 1.5 turbo hatchback and haven’t had any issues with oil leak or any issues since owning it. Only regular maintenance and oil change and also brakes change. I have the manual but maybe the cvt has more issues.
I really enjoy your thinking on details. It’s how I look at things too. I am going to be buying a 2.0L civic in the next month or so. I also love winter wheels and tires too!! Thank you for all the videos!
Grabbed me a 24 sport raylle red in manual. Really glad I did. Only thing I miss is having more power after previously being in an 8th gen Si for years then a focus ST for a bit. The reliability is worth it.
I purchased a 2024 Sport manual because of your videos and am glad I waited a month for it. I wanted the power of the turbo but the responsible adult in me knew the 2.0 would be the best choice. I’m getting 42mpg at 70mph and 33mpg in the city. I installed the resonator plugs you sold me and am very happy with the sound now! Only issue I’ve had is the drivers door takes extra force to close so I’ll be taking it to the dealer next week to adjust it. The fit and finish is fantastic and am very very happy with this vehicle. It has plenty of power, loads of space and damn it looks good!
Dang you’re getting that good in the city? My 2023 2.0 6mt gets like 23-24 city and 36-37 highway and I’ve never taken it above 4k rpm. What’s your secret?
@@bobjoe3566I get up to speed fairly quick and then modulate the throttle, time the stop lights and do your best not to have to stop, skip from 3rd to 6th at 43mph
I had one of these, I traded it in for the Mazda3 Turbo. Wouldn't look back. More luxury oriented, same price, insane reliability, a proper 6-speed auto instead of CVT, a ton more power, & AWD. Anyone who is looking at a Civic, I always recommend the Mazda3 Turbo. It's just a better car, especially for the money.
I own a 2019 Honda Civic probably the best car I owned so far put over 50,000 miles runs flawlessly smooth as butter and 35 miles per gallon combined no regrets at all
Enjoyed your 1 year review and looking forward to following your journey with the I'm afraid last naturally aspirated 2.0 ltr manual in Hondas' lineup. Just to vent, let me simply say I'm so disappointed the EPA along with other gov't agencies have taken away bit by bit, our love of driving what we want and soon I'm afraid when we want. Happy memories of motoring my friend.
The 2025 has a revised front end and new wheels, with the addition of the hybrid model. Although, I think the hybrid is only available on the sedan. I have a feeling Honda is going to address the road noise issue in all the models, which has been a consistent call-out in almost every review.
heads up Honda tech here , the rattle in the dash on the passenger side tends to be the washer bottle filler neck. they didn't put any foam padding under the neck where it clips in and used a pretty loose clip on a bunch of the civics. just from personal experiences in the dealer up here in Canada and dealing with a fair few noise complaints.
@@franckjoseph4806 "why putting paddle shifters ? " In the English language, that is a question. Typically using the word "why" and ending with a question mark.
I bought the 2024 LX out the door for 11,070 after trading in my 2018. Kia Sportage with 30K on it already using oil bad dash noise. Never put in money in it just didn’t like it could see engine problems in the future. I really love my Honda Civic hatchback.
GREAT REVIEW, MANG-----love the POV angle, which allows me to see the rear glass and appreciate how the dash is laid out and how the pillars look relative to the glass. Also, great info about repairs, and all that: we needed this anti-dote to the prepackaged reviews we often get.
I’ve got a ‘20 Type R that’s been amazing and considering a used MT Civic for my son as a graduation gift. Great video and very helpful. I’ve been a Honda fan all my life and prefer manuals so I’m happy they continue to offer that option for us remaining “purists” lol.
I've had my 2024 Hybrid Hatch in the Advance Spec for about 6 weeks now, With a whole load of toys, It's great, I'm driving it normally and getting around 51mpg. The Bose sound system is perfect. The only thing that's annoying is all the safety prompts alerting you all of you speeding, going over the white lines and freaking out when you are overtaking cyclists/ center line on the road. In Eco mode it tends to want to go into EV mode quite often, meaning you're saving money. Mines in Sonic Grey as well, I watched you video on fitting the rear spoiler and also fitted one using your video, I went for Berlinetta Black as this matches the black theme around the car and gives the rear more contrast. I bought it from Cox Honda online and fitted it meticulously myself. The heated Steering wheel is an awesome feature that my favorite comfort in the car, it's that good. I also watched your video on corrosion from the rear suspension bushes and arms- I've spent a lot of time protecting my Civic. I've completely coated the underside and removed all four wheel arch liners and coated theses areas with the best underseal that money can buy- Bilt Hamber Dynax SC50 and Dynax UC for all the areas underneath that are slightly visible, SC50 for everything else. The entire front end, including headlamps, 'A' pillars, lower sides and front section of the roof and loading area, Not to mention the 'B' and 'C' pillar gloss black trim that can get really swirled up with scratches has been protected with PPF using Xpel PPF. Ceramic coated the PPF with Gtechniq Halo V2. The entire rest of the car including ALL the plastics have been ceramic coated in Carpro Dquartz Go. Interior has been ceramic coated with DIY Detail Interior Ceramic, The leather seats and Steering wheel has been protected with Gtechniq Leather Guard. All the glass has been treated to Soft 99 Ultra Glaco. I've bought the best products for the car as its only a small amount more to buy thee best. I also highly recommend Gtechniq Ceramic sealant C2 version 3 as a 6 month protection that's super easy to apply after a couple of weeks when the Ceramic coatings have cured. The Sonic grey looks better then day one when it was picked up new. 264 miles in and nothing to say other then the rear spoiler I fitted hasn't bonded very well for some reason. But it's very very secure. The only area that's troubling is just in one place on the left inner section by the left corner of the glass window. So far so good. 🙌
@6sic666666 I've learned to live with it. There are some settings only available when the ignition button is switched on. Also I have now been able to activate Android auto wirelessly now, there is a back door setting that takes you to a secret screen that enables you to turn this feature on. Have a look on TH-cam and there a couple of videos that show you how to do it. It involves holding 3 display buttons down when switching the ignition on. You'll need to wait 24hours and unpair your phone and reactivate your Bluetooth connection
I had the same issue with the head gasket on my 23 Civic Hatch. Had to take it in twice to the dealership because they "fixed" it the first time. The second time they actually fixed it and it was too much silicone gasket from the factory that they had over-applied.
I love your videos and review of this car. I am waiting for 3,5,8,10 year review. I have a 2015 with 150,000 I will keep driving it. It has some problems but I fixed it. As it runs well and I maintain it religiously.
Too many issues for a car with 5200 miles; my last two new cars had zero issues (7 years & 95,000 miles for a Ford with only routine maintenance; and a Mazda with 2 years - only issue terminal holding negative wire required a split washer to keep it in place - no dealer required) Very disappointed in Honda.
I’m a fan of older Hondas, I think the newer ones have lost it in quality control. Made the switch to Subaru, 5 months in and 8000 miles. No rattling noises, no loose bolts. Works as it should and well made.
I have the identical car(6 speed manual). I love this car. I make monthly visits from NY to Ft Bragg, NC to visit my son. Absolute pleasure on long trips. Disappointed that a moonroof option wasnt offered in the sport trim. I hate the black sport rims and tires. Prefer the rims and tires on the former LX trim. Plenty of power. Smooth shifting. Very easy to learn to drive a manual on this vehicle. I HATE CVT’s
I got the Forte GT 6 speed manual. After test driving both. They both felt nice and have a similar interior and exterior HP and torque to the SI. I just ended up getting a screaming deal on GT. I was a big fan of the Veloster Turbo and the GT is the same Chassis/engine. Still, I did love the SI and the sports hatch, both great car. Love the video man. Edit: Just realized this is the sport hatch. Still cool.
Hi Naus. I love your videos. I bought a MT 2024 in boost blue and I love it. I've had it since March and, so far, haven't had any issues like leaking hatch or anything else so far. Apart from leasing one in 1997, I've been mostly a VW owner (2 GTIs, a Golf, and a Golf TDI). While I loved them as they got on you really start shelling out some money to keep them on the road. Now that VW has abandoned the Golf in the US market and the cheapest GTI is overpriced with some wonky touch controls, I have tried Honda again. There are features I miss, but other features I really like and this car is fun to drive if a little under-powered. For the price, I'm fine with that.
200k on my 2016 2.0 manual. Its a great car, even being the first year of the gen. Only issue was starter died in my garage at 90k. Havent replaced it again
I've had mine for half a year now and put 12k on it. The transmission is butter, the engine has more than enough power for daily service, and the interior is comfortable. I drive mostly highway and get 36-38 mpg. I wish the side mirrors were a bit bigger, I wish the gas tank was a bit bigger, and I wish the car came with factory fog lights. So far I've added fog lights, removed the air box resonator, and bypassed the stop start circuit. If your air filter is filthy after 5k, it's the resonator seals. Mine were installed improperly from factory. The dealership claimed they couldn't get them so I just deleted the box and sealed the holes. Get a bit more intake sound and removed a few pounds of pointless plastic from the front end.
I actually made a separate video on the resonator and how to delete it without removing it, sold quite a few plugs so far! I agree on the comments about the small gas tank!
@@NAUS2K I saw that video after I had done it myself, in fact it's how I found you! If I had seen it beforehand I would have done things differently. It looks like you have to drop the subframe to remove the resonator intact. Terrible design lol. I just cut it in half for removal as it's only purpose seems to be sound dampening.
Brakesvare cheaper/easier to replace than a clutch. After 27 years of driving manual I only use downshift in snow/ice conditions. I find downshift to keep the car under control better than brakes. I bet if this car were made in Japan the engine and hatch would not have had a leak. Unacceptable in a car so new
Loved the video! I got my sonic gray 2.0L sport hatch brand new in January of this year, I LOVE it, even with the CVT, coming from an 8th gen Civic EX. All the reasons you stated regarding reliability and the future of the K20C2 engine made me pounce on the opportunity to upgrade (I could see the handwriting on the wall with the hybrid coming). I also got mine with no markup (actually got a discount on MSRP), OTD just under $30k. I have nearly 4k miles on mine already and haven’t had any issues. Sorry you’ve had so many problems!
Yea, I love mine. I have the leaking hatch, but now know what to do. Thanks for that. Zero engine braking is not great, but overall I agree with you as well. It’s great for what it is. I can put bikes on the roof and have lots of storage. I have almost 30K miles in first year. Hoping to get 300K, that would be the goal.
Got mine just like it, 6 speed MT 2.0 naturally aspirated engine for the longevity of it June last year and I already have 15000 miles as of May 2024. I have had no issues and I I am having 2 people buy one brand new soon. We need to keep the manuals alive. My daughters are turning 15 and 16 soon and I am thinking i buying them one. When I bought mine for 27400 the ones that were a year or two old were 24K or more with 30,000 miles or more. Better buy brand new.
We have 2 Gen 10s. One EX Coupe and one Hatchback Sport. Between the two, only one a/c issue, a warranty issue. 75k miles on each car. Will be traded at 150k.
I cross shopped this car with a Mazda 3 hatch. I wanted this car to be the one I got but it frustrated me that I couldn't get heated seats and heated mirrors without moving up to the turbo (didn't want a turbo engine). The Honda has more room and I think a more comfortable and simple interior...but the Mazda is great too and I have no regrets. Also, with the Mazda I got more power and a conventional auto instead of a CVT.
Yes the 2.0L engine is a better (safe) selection but it is also effective by the famous headgasket failures. I have recently fix 2 of them back to back
Thank you for this video! Have been on the fence about getting a new Civic hatchback or making some big repairs on my car to get it over the 200,000 mile mark. This seems much better than the nightmare I'm going to get into with my car.
Theres a '22 used near me in NY...been looking to go back to manual. Test drove a GTI yesterday but its a bit too small for me and was pricey. Maybe ill check out the used one
@@NAUS2K ohh I did not know that.... I still remember my uncles 09-10 si .... Japanese import was a trend back in South Asia then... I remember him hitting the 9k rpm ...that was such a gem ...
This is the car I wanted but due to dealer markups I went with an used 2021 subaru impreza 5 speed, that I picked up in 22. The cargo space is 56 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down. Working on it is an breeze and it is fun to drive. Of course I have accessorized it to death however but I love the little growler. Thank you for your honest review. I would have liked an 6th gear but 95% of my driving is intown so 5th is proably better. I also would have liked an few more ponies under the hood but the manual makes it more managable. Ive upgraded my headlights and turn signals to leds and added an illuminated shifter ball 🤣👍
I have this car and love it. It's not the rocket off the line, but it's fine. Where it excels is handling. You'd be hard pressed to find a car that handles any better and is more fun to drive in this price range.
I think the only thing I don't agree with you on is the engine braking. Mine seems to be just fine when coming up to red lights and in various highway scenarios. Compared to the Si's I've owned, maybe I have to do it slightly sooner, but not a noticeable amount. I've also had no steering rack or sticky steering issues, and no leaks anywhere. So far, this is the best new car that I've ever owned.
Glad you are enjoying it my friend! I have not driven a 10thgen civic so they may not have much engine braking either. However coming from my 2010 civic and 2007 Si, the engine braking is laughable in this car
I have a '13 Accord LX 6MT. 135K miles. I'm so tempted to sell it and get this Civic but I have had no real issues with the Accord - aside from some oil consumption. This Civic looks like a great daily and it's likely about the same size as my 9th. gen. Thanks for the update!
My 2008 accord coupe consumes 1 quart after 3k miles when the oil change is new. After that I have to fill it up like half a quart every 2 weeks. Wish I would have looked into the issue when I first got it but its a good car and runs fine.
I bought the 2024 EX turbo with CVT. I actually love how smooth and quietly it accelerates so very happy with the turbo/CVT. Its got plenty of pep to get up to speed too. Shifting again would be cool and noticed how smooth your car shifted in the video but in congested areas where I live not so much fun. Interior feels and looks well built and not cheap. Heating doesn't seem to hit the feet too well so my feet stay cold while rest heats up(minor). At first was angry at the lane assist but have learned how to use it with cruise control and its great on long trips but not totally reliable on semi sharp turns. I had the leak in the hatch but it seems to have gone away(got to check again though as haven't checked in awhile). When I shut the trunk I just give it extra ump in closing and haven't seen it again. The 2 biggest issues to me are the stereo(get the bose!) and the road noise - atrocious. Kind of upset hearing they're fixing the road noise for 2025 cause I'd enjoy the car significantly more with less road noise but still feel I made a very good choice. pd 29k, getting about 37mpg. Good luck with you Civic!
I was able to get a '24 boost blue sport with 6MT only because one dealer (of the several that I contacted) was able to snag one as it left the factory. Rumor has it some dealers only get a couple of these with a 6MT per year. The K series is hands down the best mass produced 4 cylinder ever made. The L15 turbo is trash in comparison, which is a bummer. My only complaint so far is that the shifting is crunchy. Not as slick shifting as the old B series transmissions. Hopefully it doesn't become a problem.
I recently got a Civic 2020 LX which came with a manual transmission and K20C2 as well. I can relate to the driving experience. It pulls and has some feel and response, it feels great. Edit : Though I have a different experience with the throttle tuning. My Civic will engine brake and sometimes engine brake pretty hard. I haven't fully figured out all it's behaviours so it feels inconsistent but it's got some good engine brake. It does get a lot softer on eco mode.
I got the rattles in the dash. I’m sure it’s behind the infotainment screen where the speaker is. The other rattle is in the dash more by passenger window. Maybe air bag area.
I've had the pleasure of driving a 2024 and I will be picking mine up soon. I can tell you that engine braking on this car is substantially more than the engine braking on the D15 Civic that I have and very comparable to the K24 9th gen I once had. I think you will be disappointed trying to increase the engine braking through tuning, but I can't fault you for trying. I think the reason you're used to cars with more engine braking has a ton do with the power steering system. Electric power steering has much less resistance than hydraulic. I do think the notion that off throttle in 6th feels like neutral is overblown. There is a stark difference. I have a hill in my area I can go from 65mph to 74 over the course of a mile down in neutral but in 6th off throttle it gradually drops off from 65 to 60. My biggest complaint with this car is the oversized 18 inch wheels and the related oversized turning radius that comes with it. The gap between the inside of the wheels and brake discs is ridiculous. I might look into getting some 16 or 17 inch wheels down the line and downsizing from 235 rubber to 215. I would go down to 15 inch wheels but I'm afraid the brakes might not clear. I'm overall impressed with the car though. On paper I thought 6th gear would have been a bit too short but in reality it's perfectly fine. I do wish 2nd and 3rd were a bit shorter though. I really liked the gearing of the 9th gen Si where 1st, 2nd, and 3rd were really tight and then the rest of the gears spaced out in a really gradual but progressive way. Only issue with the 9th gen Si gearing is that the overall gearing was just too short. (should have gotten the 4.39 rather than the 4.76 final drive) My favorite thing about the car other than the simplicity of the drivetrain is the insane handling. It corners like it's on rails compared to anything I've ever driven and still has a fantastic ride.
Check out my video on pedal commander, I show in detail with data how Honda has the throttle body programmed to stay open when off the throttle at higher RPMs , this allows less vacuum through the intake manifold and as a direct result, less engine braking. My old 2007 civic Si was electric power steering, my 2002 s2000 is electric steering, that has little to do with it . Honda does this to be more fuel efficient which is great and a smart move on their part, but if you want to have full control of the car and have it respond like a NA engine should when driving manual, that throttle body should close all the way when you let off
I was going to get the civic with the 2.0 and stick shift but I made the mistake of driving a si with the 1.5 turbo and six speed stick and I had to have the si . It’s so much fun to drive and the power from that 1.5 turbo is awesome ! It actually makes 224 hp and not 200 hp like Honda would have you believe.
I think the rattle in the right side of the dash is some sort of unfixable design flaw. I have a 2024 manual Integra, and when it's cold I have the same rattle in the same place as you. Regarding the gasket issues, I think that it is a general Honda problem not a 1.5t engine problem. You yourself leaky gasket on your new 2.0 engine. Back in around 2002 my 1997 Civic LX's gasket started leaking and my 2014 2.4L Accord also had the same issue. In all cases it was pretty easy to replace the gaskets, but it still happened to all of them. I'm sure my new Integra will have the same issue. Oh, I forgot to mention that my best friend's S2000 eventually also had to get the gaskets replaced. Important to note that I treat my cars as if they were made of glass and keep up with all the maintenance.
I got my 2019 2.0t accord for 27,500 for a steal during covid. its an insane highway cruiser at 30mpg doing 80-90mph lol... Everyday the car makes me smile. issues: weak paint, stock tires need to be a lil thicker, infotainment restarts occasionally, tighter maintenance, bad city mpg, slow to heat up in winter, 93 octane(some wont i do) pros: tire squealer, highway machine, sleek, handling, road feel, transmission, interior. you picked a good one too. you would love driving the accord a lot the 10spd just wants to go.
I’m 7 months into the ownership of my ‘24 and I agree with pretty much everything you’ve said. I haven’t had any issues with mine, I just wish the thing would engine brake 😂. I’ve also gotten several “nice cars”, which is definitely surprising. I think the red and black look plus the stylings definitely make it look more premium than it is.
I heard they are removing the 1.5t in the civic trims minus the Si. The hatchback sport and sport touring the manual will be removed, and the only power trains going to be available for the civic will be the 2.0 na and 2.0 hybrid. Cvt and eCVT only
Since the manual is now gone from the civic lineup (minus the Si with the crap 1.5T) I would definitely suggest the hybrid over the trims with a CVT transmission
Man, that’s quite a few problems actually for a Honda. Rattles in the engine bay, rattles in the dash, a leaky valve cover gasket, and a leaky hatch? That’s just unacceptable to me. Last April, I bought a new car as well, not a Honda, but a VW GTI 40th Anniversary Edition (6 speed manual). No rattles, no squeaks, no leaks. Not flawless, but close. And on short drives to our little town and back, about 31 mpg average, and on the couple longer trips I’ve made, 40 mpg. I’m glad I made the choice I did. Did you check out the GTI before buying the Civic?
I have a 22 Civic Si, 23,000 miles no issues other than a leaky VC gasket which has been taken care of. Let's cross our fingers I don't have any other issues. The 1.5 isn't too bad for a daily but I do see the issues within that engine, I just haven't encountered them. Are they expected at higher miles? Or is it random?
Check out bc auto solutions (linked in the video description ). He is replacing failed gaskets on the 1.5Ts quite often. Last one he did was a car with 76000 miles and was misfiring
I plan to get the CVT version since I cannot drive a manual due to being a person with disablity (can use only my left leg...). My question is , does the CVT version also not use a Direct-Injected engine? I am avoiding that kind of engine. Btw, I currently drive a second-hand '07 Honda FIT SPORT with the famous L15 engine ... with 361,xxx miles and counting.
@NAUS2K Really, I've been waiting for the hybrid since last yr, a priority over the regular sport trim. I'll wait some more till 1stvweek of June '24 hoping that rumor to be wrong. Otherwise, Corolla Cross Hybrid is the 2nd choice white paint only only my son prefers. 3rd choice will be like yours but CVT Sport trim so I can use it while my son is away at a Univ. Hand it to him in 3 yrs time. LOL.
Beautiful car. I got the 23 sport touring hatch with a manual and am still loving it. The only thing I *might* regret one day is getting the more complex engine, as I hope to keep mine for 200k+ miles. Mine has been solid for the first 23k miles, aside from the sticky steering (not the recalled issue). Getting a new rack in soon, although I’m suspecting this may be a software issue first various reasons
i have an eighth gen civ sedan exl that i'm keeping until the wheels fall off but if they fall off I'd likely get a 20-22 ILX (9th gen civ platform) for that 2.4 & DCT w/torque converter
I have had my 98 5 Speed Sentra almost s year now and no regrets. Been in an accident and I rebuilt it and it has never broken down, even when it completely ran out of oil. I could never afford one of these Civics....waaaay out of my price range.
Do you find your civic hatch good to be the main driver for your family and kids? How about weekend road trip? Trunk sufficient for multiple pieces of luggages?
I’ll be honest In the year and a half I’ve had this car now the kids have been in it maybe less than 10 times. Our 2021 CRV has been the main family hauler and is fantastic. the civic is great but foe two adults and two kids there probably is not enough room for us in the hatch to go on a family vacation for a week. stroller, luggage, toys and beach chairs are a tight fit in the crv which has almost double the cargo room as this car
I don't think this is a bad car at all. They did a good job with the Civic platform and the hatchback gives you more space in the same car. My friend has one, it is a solid daily commuter car, if he has some bigger weekend trips where he and his wife pack a bunch of stuff into it, the trunk has the room. It gets good gas mileage, the manual transmission is good enough for its price, the interior cabin space is good and it is very unique in its segment, only the Mazda 3 hatch compares but these two are very different in terms of size and the Golf GTI is just not a contender here due to its interior and lack of physical buttons. The Jetta GLI would be a better comparison but it is not a hatchback to it doesn't compare either. My friend was interested in all of these but ultimately chose the Civic because it is physically larger and afford so much more room and he had no interest in going for something like an A4 allroad because it just isn't worth the money brand new. The Civic saved him so much money upfront and continues to save him money as where he lives the insurance is very low.
When you are clutch out and in neutral it will, it starts back up when you push the clutch in to go into first gear . Easy press if the button and you can disable it which is what I do
the rattle is the infotainment unit in the center of the dash. there's a bloody tsb on it. I'm surprised dealer hasn't fixed it. i heard it during the video
@@NAUS2K used to love chasing down these noises. was more fun when customer went with me on road test and it suddenly stopped doing it hehe. Curious as to what it is though if thats the area its from
Nope it’s my first time seeing your channel. Your channel just popped up so I’m watching. I don’t know you or your experience but I’ll learn now as I’m considering this car. However 2025 has some revisions and a hybrid and I bet you are all over that now. I may wait for that.
Heck out the other recent vids in the channel my man! I go over my thoughts on the 2025 civic lineup , no more manual transmission on anything but the type R and Si 😕
I got a 24 Sport 6MT after watching your video a year ago. Recently I was aware of a steering rack recall, however I haven't experience anything remotely close to a sticky steering wheel. Have you ever noticed anything?
I have the last manual Accord, a phenomenal car. But Honda decided they were no longer interested in my business and discontinued it. I'm sure the Civic is great but it is by no means an Accord.
Man, people are spoiled. The Civic is way more punchy than my Fit.😆
the reliability is unmatched ! Can't go wrong with a civic ! Plus it looks good !!
I agree with you 💯% Well said. I got this car in black pearl a month ago & I love it! (Sport Hatchback)

@@catsspat weird way to loon at it. I feel a lot of people are selling sports cars to get civics rn. Like I sold my 2021 wrx base for a civic sport😂
I bought a 24 because of your videos! Boost Blue. Had it for a month now. Haven't driven a manual in 10 years and it's so much fun getting back into it.
Congrats! It’s such an easy car to drive manual on. Almost too easy, my goal is to make it harder! 🤣
Does it have rev match and a shift assist type of logic to help smoothly shift into gear. Always thought that would be good for begginers
Did you pay msrp or markup?
Ooo I have a 24 got it back in February and I love it! Wish I could’ve gotten a boost blue because it is absolutely gorgeous and I have a sonic gray but still love it in general! Definitely wanna get some upgrades done on it!
@@MartyMa-un9uqhe mentioned it in the first 7 minutes.
So good to see a Honda review with a manual transmission!!
😊😊
Awesome how do you like it ?
@@NAUS2Klove it, this is my 9th brand new Honda starting with the 2002 civic Si.
If nothing worked out until maybe July or so, I would've contacted a dealer to see if I can order one.
they don't sell because dealers don't understand enthusiasts
Yeah, no one wants mt anymore. Bs. I had to get an si for a manual since no one had a hatch in sport in manual. I love the si. I too replaced a vw. 2009 gti with 140k. Threw a rod and dont want to put money into it. Itll get me a couple or a few cr payments at least
@@fortheloveofnoisethey don’t sell because people end up buying automatics when the rubber hits the road.
I was eyeing this car for a while. Like many others, I was convinced after watching your videos as you documented everything about this car. I am a new manual driver and this car is doing a solid job on keeping me going.
Good choice my friend!!
Does minus $1,600 mean that you bought the car for $1,600 below msrp?
I like civics but man they have gotten so expensive. I literally paid below 30 OTD for my 23' WRX
@@Someonelikekanye Yes, although I consider it $1,200 below MSRP, because $500 doc fee is nonsense.

And is the injection to your liking? Or is a No! Full-stop! Period! End of discussion!
The 2025 has a revised front end and new wheels, with the addition of the hybrid model. Although, I think the hybrid is only available on the sedan. I have a feeling Honda is going to address the road noise issue in all the models, which has been a consistent call-out in almost every review.
Road noise was the main reason I bought versa which was not only significantly cheaper but also quieter
They haven’t revealed the 2025 civic yet….or have they?
Info has been leaked. If you like driving manual, it isn’t good news.
heads up Honda tech here , the rattle in the dash on the passenger side tends to be the washer bottle filler neck. they didn't put any foam padding under the neck where it clips in and used a pretty loose clip on a bunch of the civics. just from personal experiences in the dealer up here in Canada and dealing with a fair few noise complaints.
I’ll check it out thanks !

How do you disable the speed warning? And the lane departure assist thing? It’s ANNOYING!
Can you post a follow up and recap on what your issues with the car were...
More great video content. I will have to purchase one of these before they are gone
I had the same issue with the head gasket on my 23 Civic Hatch. Had to take it in twice to the dealership because they "fixed" it the first time. The second time they actually fixed it and it was too much silicone gasket from the factory that they had over-applied.
Head gasket or valve cover gasket? I assume you mean valve cover gasket
@@NAUS2K Yes Valve Cover, my mistake. It’s crazy how much oil leaked from it too.
No sunroof was a huge selling point for me, I needed the headroom. Also keeps the weight down and lowers the CG of the car a decent amount!
Awesome to hear! Thank you for the comment !
For a short time some civics came with the accord 2.0 turbo engine. Those were gone super fast…..
No they didn’t , that is 100% not true
I had to get this car in stick shift. Honda is discontinuing all manuals, unless its the SI or type R.
Wait was there a solution for leaking hatch in this vid? Tia!
Oh wow you drive so much.
@@WuCandicejust pull the plugs out and replace them
I like the looks.of your sport hatch better than the SI sedan.
Sometimes the rattling is the AC lines. They will sometimes tap against the frame of the vehicle, its normal.
Not the AC lines but I appreciate the comment!
Love the 10th gen LX. My only regret is that I should have gotten the Sport for slightly better handling and some tech features.
I'm going to buy this car but as a rebuilt title, it is just body work damage for a pretty good deal
Theres a '22 used near me in NY...been looking to go back to manual. Test drove a GTI yesterday but its a bit too small for me and was pricey. Maybe ill check out the used one
I wish they had bring back the insane 200 hp version of 2.0l na enhine like the older si ...
Me too my friend, however the EPA is the reason it’s not possible anymore. Even this k20c2 engine is being cancelled in the civic for 2025. :(
@@NAUS2K ohh I did not know that....
I made it handle even better, check out my lastest video
Usually those hatch leaks come from a cracked or defective gasket in the third brake light. Golf gti would would have been a more engaging drive.
I miss the days when manuals were 5k cheaper than automatic.
I wish the SI came with this motor and throw some changes on that .
How is the manual compared to the Si? I love the Si manual with the short throws and precise mechanical feel
Naturally Aspirated is the way of the future, nothing beats that instant response to inputs
Defeating engine braking is so contrary to the spirit and function of manual shifting, it seriously puts me off.
It’s not ideal for sure, but I’ll try to see if I can fix it
Agreed, that just soured my whole Honda wants
I recently got a Civic 2020 LX which came with a manual transmission and K20C2 as well. I can relate to the driving experience. It pulls and has some feel and response, it feels great.
Edit : Though I have a different experience with the throttle tuning. My Civic will engine brake and sometimes engine brake pretty hard. I haven't fully figured out all it's behaviours so it feels inconsistent but it's got some good engine brake. It does get a lot softer on eco mode.
I had a 2022 Sport Touring with identical problems and I bought a 2023 Passport Touring, which I'm very happy with.
(should have gotten the 4.39 rather than the 4.76 final drive)
My favorite thing about the car other than the simplicity of the drivetrain is the insane handling.
Honda does this to be more fuel efficient which is great and a smart move on their part, but if you want to have full control of the car and have it respond like a NA engine should when driving manual, that throttle body should close all the way when you let off
@@NAUS2K I look forward to the seeing the results!
Thrown in some Acuity shifter cable and base bushings. They tighten everything up and remain comfortable.
The 1.5T has head gasket issues. The 2.0 has valve cover gasket issues. One is far more catastrophic than the other !
Wait what was a cause of the valve cover leaks? . That is what i love about honda. No stranded....is key
Just a leaky valve cover gasket, 30 min fix at the dealer, I made a video on it which shows all the details. Check it out on the channel!
@NAUS2K thank you ill find video.
I got my 2019 2.0t accord for 27,500 for a steal during covid. its an insane highway cruiser at 30mpg doing 80-90mph lol... Everyday the car makes me smile.
issues: weak paint, stock tires need to be a lil thicker, infotainment restarts occasionally, tighter maintenance, bad city mpg, slow to heat up in winter, 93 octane(some wont i do)
pros: tire squealer, highway machine, sleek, handling, road feel, transmission, interior.
you picked a good one too.
you would love driving the accord a lot the 10spd just wants to go.
Dang 27,500 that is a steal wish cars were affordable these days.
Rattling? Check the plastic cover on the window post. Press the top part.
Cvt and eCVT only
I saw the same leaked info. Very interesting and a sad day for us enthusiasts
@@NAUS2K you have a one of a kind vehicle you struck gold my dude.
Now that the Civic has added a hybrid powertrain for only $2000 more with so much more power and MPG. Would you rather pay that over the ICE 2.0?
Not to hate on Honda but am not convinced this does anything better than my 2015 Mazda 6 manual 6 spd that can be bought for half price of new civic
Yes the cvt car is the same engine! Get a 2024 asap because in 2025 this engine will no longer be in the civic it’s rumored !
@@NAUS2K Thank you! That gave me the answer I need.
Thanks for the content!
Nice ride. Hey does that car shut off at stop lights like the automatics
Nope it’s not that. There were no dash rattles on the video. Any rattles heard in the video were from the engine bay
@@NAUS2K yes sir I watched a couple more last night. Thanks for taking us along for the ride !
I don't think we can get this engine in Canada. Only the 1.5 turbo.
This is what the SI should be w the o.g. k20 not the E.D. 1.5 turbo. Personally love sedans but this hatch is growing on me
I got a 24 Sport 6MT after watching your video a year ago. Recently I was aware of a steering rack recall, however I haven't experience anything remotely close to a sticky steering wheel. Have you ever noticed anything?
Nope my steering has been completely fine, I don’t plan to bring the car in for the recall until I experience an issue
I have the last manual Accord, a phenomenal car. But Honda decided they were no longer interested in my business and discontinued it. I'm sure the Civic is great but it is by no means an Accord.
Accord is bigger, heavier, and softer. Civic is smaller , lighter , and sportier. Both are great cars!
