  • Search for the AlanWake2 folder on the operating system drive and then open the .ini file called "renderer"
    Change this on the Alan Wake 2 config file to false:
    "m_bLensDistortion": False,
    Download the Frame Generation Mod designed to replace Nvidia FG for AMD FSR 3 Frame Generation for it to work on RTX 20 and 30 series GPUs

    Hey, Unreal Engine dev here, there's a similar command in Unreal called "r.DisableDistortion", 1 = Disabled, 0 = Enabled.
    However this game seems to have chromatic aberration connected to their lens distortion command so it's recommended to also disable that too.
    I'm going to list commands for disabling popular post processing effects:
    r.SceneColorFringeQuality=0
    (Disables Chromatic Aberration)
    r.DepthOfFieldQuality=0
    r.FilmGrain=0
    r.Tonemapper.Quality=0
    (Disables vignette & film grain)
    r.LensFlareQuality=0
    r.MotionBlurQuality=0
    r.DisableDistortion=1
    (Pretty sure 1 is off, since 1 tends to equal true)

      @@George-um2vc Update 5.4 is still a far ways out but UE5.3 already introduced some shader stutter fixes, its possible some UE5 games releasing are using earlier builds but either way as far as I'm aware their are more improvements to be made and it's still an issue being addressed so 5.4 may come with more fixes.
      As for CPU performance, well I really wish but optimizing CPU performance is the hardest thing to do as it requires rewrites of part of the engine, so since it's a big undertaking it means it will either take awhile for anything significant to happen or that hands are thrown in the air and complacency sets in. So we will see

      I tested this FSR 3.0 MOD for Unreal Engine 5.32. When I use the console r.Streamline.MotionVectorScale 0 (the default is 1 to enable) to turn off MotionVectorScale and cancel the constant scaling of DLSS frames to generate motion vectors, ghosting can be eliminated. This is effective in all programs compiled by Unreal Engine and can eliminate ghosting, but the negative is that this setting reduces the smoothness of the lower picture.

      We all knew it was possible from the start. It was blatantly obvious that it was used as marketing because their newer cards have 0 uplift in raw performance so there would be no reason to upgrade if older cards natively supported it.

      ​@@Flank.Sinatra.They increase the sharpness/reduce the blur of TAA/TSR, assuming the developer hasn't already applied them themselves, which most don't as most use the engine defaults.

      DLSS 3 frame gen only being in the rtx4000 series makes sense. There's a reason for it. Other cards physically can't use it, because DLSS frame gen is hardware accelerated, with AI on top, while FSR is 100% software. That's why DLSS, both supersampling and frame generation, looks better and has less graphic artifacts than FSR.
      That being said, the reason is still completely stupid and Nvidia probably gimped their cards on purpose. It's not a lie but it's disgusting all the same

    Bruh, the game is visually stunning and by far the best visual graphics available on Pc. its won awards for it. If you actually played it and at least got tot he town you'd really start to appreciate the visuals. its near photo realistic. and in the same file is where you can disable other things like vinigette etc. I have s zero issues running it on a 4090 at 4K max settings dlss Quality with frame generation that you turn on in that config file. Game is Stunning. you can turn down post processing to sharpen it up. its the first game I actually play with film grain on b/c its done so well. turning it off loses the realism and feel of the game. the advanced ray tracing is what makes it so good looking for the real time lighting and shadows.

      It is okay to have different tastes. I tried film grain on this scene, and it is there to help on hiding one of the worst HDR color banding I've ever seen on any game

    This is off topic, but I made a comment the other day saying that the swat game Ready Or Not was outputting 10k nits in HDR. Out of curiosity I ran the game in SDR and the HDR analysis tool works still and is still saying the game is outputting 10k nits and is using bt2020 colors in SDR. I've never seen a game act like this. Any reason for this to your knowledge? Normally if you switch to SDR the analysis tool doesn't work which makes sense.

      The HDR analysis tool will always report 10k nits incorrectly if you analyze SDR or Auto HDR

      I should have checked WCG. I was using lilium tone mapping to cap to 800 nits according to the analysis tool. WCG said the max cll when using the tone mapping was 271 nits. Letting the game do it’s “10,000” nits makes the WCG read max 831 nits which is my max. Good to know to go off WCG from now on. Learned a lot today thanks. Haha

    ghostrering effect in Cyberpunk (doubles model of car when mooving too fast and borders of the screen) - its even more noticeable in 4k , looking for fix, thought vignete mod could fix but no effect :( I havent found render.ini file in appdata local cdred folder neither in game folder ...

    LG has a problem with this. I once watched a comparison of Spiderman on LG C1 and Sony, on LG with fast camera movement there was this problem, it wasn't there at all on Sony. Interestingly, no one noticed this. For me, this is C1's biggest problem. I don't know how the higher models deal with this, but if I had noticed it sooner...

      The problems you're referring to might be with interpolation, otherwise the C1 as any other WRGB OLED has cero motion problems. Actually the. 1 using OLED motion pro (BFI) has some of the best motion clarity performance available, 3.2ms of persistence without any artifacts

    The mod seems to apply the generation after post processing so its recommended to disable as much as you're willing to for the best generation quality, regardless of the game.
    This could harm the artistic choices the developer intended however

    That's what Nvidia said, that the quality is worse without an optical flow accelerator, and you just confirmed it again with this video.
    And yes, they need to sell their cards and make money. It's good to scold someone else when it's not your business.
    If you need dlss and fg, you can just sell your 3080 and buy 4070 for an additional $200, which is much less than the time you spent creating this video.
    The truth is that people drive cars for $10,000...$40,000, buy phones for 1000...$ 2000 and at the same time they are greedy for $ 50-200 for a technology that they themselves cannot come up with, they can only hack.
    At the same time, you praise Nvidia for the dlss, which works really well, and at the same time you scold them and that they are greedy and do not want to give you for free what they spent money and life on.
    Dude, and with all this, frame generation in Alan wake 2 does not work well, probably the optical flow accelerator really solves some unsolvable problem.
    Nvidia didn't take the FPS away from you, but just didn't give it to you for free and you're freaking out, who are you after that? A fighter for justice? No, just a freeloader.
    And no matter how much you are "right" here, and no matter how many modders have made good mods, without "greedy corporations" all these mods are nothing.

      The real reason that's happening is because this is a mod. The mod is not tuned on a per game level and is just a drag and drop solution and if adding FSR3FG properly was that easy it would be in so many games by now but it's not, which means this wide range of compatability is coming at the cost of image quality. You can't judge the quality of the tech based on a mod.
      With that's said no doubt FSR3 will be inferior to NVIDIA, nvidia is just the best with their software but this is not an example of that, as someone who's messed with FSR3FG so far and gotten it setup in their project that is very excessive ghosting, theirs no situation it should be ghosting that bad if you did everything correctly.

      ​@@Hybredand you didn't think that because the technology is raw, amd leaked it to observe the reaction of the crowd. Since you roll it out officially, you will get a wave of haight for the quality.
      It's one thing for modders to screw IT up, it's cool for the modeler's level, because you can always refer to this as not an official release. And it's another to dump this junk under the brand.
      To be honest, for me the topic of upscalers and generators has long gone beyond the technical aspect. Considering that some things are subjective in nature: hosting, input lag, upscale clarity, etc. I see how opinion leaders, in the wake of corporate haight, are putting noodles on people's ears and at the same time often miss real flaws and problems...

    I haven’t bought Alan Wake 2. It’s so cool you got to test the mod on that game. The company’s are greedy as you say and lie to us. The NVIDIA Experience recommended settings are trash as well and I never use that. It usually recommends low on most of the settings making a game run at high fps, but look terrible.

    Alan Walk 2 optimal settings are (that i found, for my pc):
    keep textures as high as your vram allows it, texture filtering max, post processing high, ssao high, reflections high, rt off, lod low, pillar light or whatever it's called, medium.
    everything else iirc u can reduce for very little visual downsides, until u hit your target fps. make sure to test in a demanding scene in the woods
    shadows minimum everything,
    dlss/fsr ultra quality at 1440p (edit config file, 1991x1120, 0.777 ratio), native at 1080p, quality at 4k (i think)
    and ofc, as always, disable all the crap in config. this game also needs sharpening and denoising at the same time :) good luck
    better advice:
    delete the game. it is a waste of time. the story might be good, but the gameplay is an insult to gamers. played the first 3 or 4 chapters. braindead point and click "investigative" mechanics, pretty much braindead puzzles, super slow, combat is mostly about conserving ammo, and it is another WALKING SIMULATOR. super super scripted, can't walk 30cm off the main path, even in the woods. feels like "exploring" in God of War 🤮
    better play actual games, refund if possible
    if u enjoyed this game, i've been told the Evil Within 2 specifically, not 1, is a much better game in the same vibe
