Plasma TV for Gaming
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 8 พ.ค. 2022
I was not happy at all with my new LG OLED coming from a used $25 Plasma TV. Instead of returning the TV, I decided to learn how to get the best out of it and share that with everyone. I'm particularly interested in motion clarity and display technologies for gaming waiting for 8k 1000Hz 10000 nits

How is text smoothness for s90c vs c1? Text clarity, blurry, etc? I sold my s95c 55 inch today because something just wasn't right with the one I had I felt like. Probably the one connect box may have had issues or maybe it was all in my head. But the 65 inch s90c is on the way.
WRGB has better text clarity
He's taking off the protection while laughing maniacally and saying 'its so big'.. Hmm. 😂love you Ariel❤
😂
No more one connect box and full 48gigabits again? Also should be able to use DLDSR
I hope it works after disabling DSC
I bought this TV at Best Buy for $999. I haven't unboxed it yet. Im thinking about buying an open box 77" S90D for $1750, I can't decide.
That's a great deal too!
Can't remember who mentioned that but iirc, bigger TVs have the pixels spread further away from each others (to meet the TV size ofc) so they don't get as much heat as smaller ones where pixels are so close to each others. So this might be a factor to why the bigger ones sometimes can be brighter.
Makes sense
I'm glad it's going so well with the new TV! Did you ever get a chance to find which of your LG C1 videos new C1 buyers should look at, you have so many videos and your methods evolved, so its hard to know which video has the final set of optimal settings and service menu tricks for setting up the LG C1. :) You could even make a TH-cam playlist no your channel for the different videos for the different TVs. :D Please brother, it would be a great help! Also, anywhere else where you recommend i look to see what settings i should run on my new LG C1? Thank you and muchas gracias, hermano!
You're right. Let me see if I can find a summary
Gracias!
When I measure the brightness of my s90d first time, it reads ~850nits. That scared the shit out of me. Then I realize the plastic cover is still on.😅 Peeled that off then the screen showed its true power.
It can go beyond 1200 nits
What’s the max nits on the s90d I have one but don’t have anything to test it
If you continue like this you will need a bigger room.
😂
congrats bro im so happy for you :)
Thanks brother!
I don’t have the gamut expansion option why ?
The updates have change a lot of the options
🥳👍👏🔥🍻
The 90 looks warmer.
Yes
24:47 I really think S95C is way better on that image, more realistic and the separation of colors on the image is great.
Yes
Ordered C4, dont blame me please, just natural mainstream ... no plasma 4K , 77+" so I was lost in the start, just ordered some sick OLED :(. Saw some miniled - just mmm natural disastrer, not for me, give my plasma back in 4K or just die and dont show me in next 10 years! This oled is born sick and will die sick, dont want it at all but no choice for now really ... where is my 3D without glasses assholes developers you really forgot or ??
Glassless 3d is already here, there are like 3 or 4 screens that can do it very well. TCL has an 8k Glassless 3d Injeck printed true RGB OLED in the works
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 Bro I have this i my 2013 plasma, pure 3D .. this is now just a joke, Depth is real and ebjoyed at all.
It's not how big it is it's how you use it

@plasmatvforgaming9648 I'm talking about displays
Buy SONY A95L bro
That's 3000usd
Which one do you like the most or better s95c or s90c
The S95C with my Tweaks on the service menu and 100 hours is looking a lot better. I'm sure I can get the S90C looking exactly the same or better with some work and usage
3:37 )))
Each panel is different that's why people that want accurate reference color need to calibrate;
I can confirm that any sound with heavy bass, like the spaceship takeoff scene in Alien: Romulus, causes a plastic rattling sound on the S90D.
use the EQ to fix; find which freq to lower using a bass sine sweep test ;
Oh man that's a steal if I could find another S90C at that price I would grab it in a heartbeat
I'm still loving my reset kuro krp600. Many thanks to Dirtgarry for his advice. Im now though pondering what might be achieved by 3DLUT calibration 😨
I will do that as soon as I have a chance
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 another rabbit hole , see you there 😊
@@plasmatvforgaming9648I know you will 😊
Admitted that brightness is a perceptual attribute that doesn't directly correlate with physical data, what you're likely experiencing are the following perceptual effects: - Area effect: a color in a larger area appears brighter. - Helmholtz-Kohlrausch effect: brightness increases with saturation. - Hunt effect: The colorfulness of a sensation increases with luminance. All these previous attributes are perceptual. To obtain accurate physical data, you would need to use tools like an light meter (luxmeter) or a colorimeter
I like it. Interesting! Thanks for sharing that 👍
looks more pale becuase its brighter not night and day difference but you can see it
s95c is brighter even though its 55 its just the flagship so its brighter for sure
It's also unlocked to max brightness on the service menu, 310 nits full screen and 2000 peak
I just bought the 65 inch version (quantum dot)model SAMSUNG S90D and i love it...
Awesome! QDOLED is amazing
S95C looks brighter and overall better Expected since it's a newer model
Yes, the white balance and calibration looks way more correct. I should be able to match them with some work and usage
I can’t wait for the HDR gaming comparison 🔥
Happy for you dude, but I would still prefer the Kuro. :D
I'll keep the Kuro forever
Are all sizes of the S90C QD-OLED panels? Because not all sizes of the S90D are QD-OLED
Yes, some older stock of the 55 and 65" could be 1rs generation QDOLED but most of it should be 2nd gen at this point
S90D 42 amd 48, and 83 are definitely WRGB OLED and 77 should be 2nd gen 2k nits max QDOLED. The 55 could be 3rd gen 1500 nits max QDOLED, and and 65 on the US should be 2nd gen
@@plasmatvforgaming9648That’s great! I’m still undecided on which one to buy. I also have the LG C1 and want to upgrade to a QD-OLED. Here in my country, they are quite expensive, but the price difference between the S90C and the S90D 55-inch models isn’t significant, so I think I’ll go for the S90D. Here, only the 55-inch size is QD-OLED. And man, I’m so happy for your achievements and enthusiasm for TVs, settings, and especially HDR. Your channel has become my favorite on TH-cam.

I haven't tested that yet but I'll definitely do that
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 isnt there a setting you can do now on the s90c service settings for pc about the 4096x2160
You should get a calibration meter that way you don’t have to wonder which settings are corrrect. It’ll tell you everything you need to know.
I'll get one eventually. The thing is for these QDOLEDs you need a crazy expensive meter
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 there are public spectral corrections available to use with colorimeters; Callibrite device ftw
@@plasmatvforgaming9648You don't need expensive meters to get acceptable accuratecy. A cheap meter like i1display pro will do. You just need to download some correction files from DisplayCal. Or you can rent a spectrometer for the colorimeter correction.
Congrats dude!
Coming from an s95b, doing the s95c hack for the s90c would be the only way it would be worth it for me, otherwise there very similar.
The 2000 nits hack on 2nd gen QDOLED should be brighter than any other OLED (stock) on the market today. Brighter than G4 and S95D. Brighter full screen and peak
@plasmatvforgaming9648 if i do get the s90c, im thinking of only doing the convert it to s95c change cause i feel like cranking it up all the way to 2000 might be too much for the panel, doesn't the s95c have a better heatsink?.
so s95c or s90c for picture quality ? (not counting size)
S95C is looking way better right now but that might change with some usage and work
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 💪
@@plasmatvforgaming9648what Anapeak are they? You could be comparing gen1(s90c) to gen2(s95c) as the s90c have a mix of gen1 and gen2 panels (meaning slightly different brightness, eotf, and screen coating). Gen2 panels are much better : brighter, better efficiency , and better image stability I believe.
0:55 Here it is, top tier 65" TV is $999.99, didn't take long for 55" TVs to pass the torch! Grats!
I paid 1k for my 48" C1, 65 OLED for that price is insane
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 I personally think 55" TVs had there PRIME. Families want 65" in their living rooms now. The main point is the price drops on top tier 65" TVs below $1000.

@@plasmatvforgaming9648 that’s crazy, wish we had those prices in Sweden too 🙂
I don't know if that's content worthy for your channel, but do you have any thoughts on micro scratches on QD-OLEDs so far? I have my S90D for a bit more than a week and I still didn't peeled off the cover out of fear lol
Definitely peel it off, the heat could cause that cover to stick more strongly and become a bigger problem.
It is true that QDOLED screen is extremely fragile and susceptible to scratches, I'm not going to be cleaning it too often to avoid damaging it
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 Just did it! Looking clean af. Thx!
@@plasmatvforgaming9648saw many people had issues cleaning the screen. They removed the purple layer somehow. Very sensible so pay attention. Never touch it
I don't think it's a big issue for a TV, but this coating is a complete fail for a monitor.
As to the 65 inch TV seeming brighter, from personal experience, I have noticed that bigger TVs just look "brighter" idk if this is a mental thing, or if there's actually a physical reason for it. I remember hearing about it from a tech TH-camr once too, so I don't think I'm the only person to feel that way. So, I have a feeling that once you hack the new TV and compare them, you'll find the 65 inch to be a bit brighter
I believe so too
its real because there is more light flux in bigger displays
cx/c1 will always hold a spot in the pantheon of the greats in the annals of tv display tech history.
They're up there already imo

Title says pealing off the TV, thumbnail reads undressing the girl😂
Would you say there's a difference in PPI regards to the 55 vs 65 inch? Especially if using it as a PC monitor for a 4 ft-ish range?
Pixels per degree of view is what makes a difference. Having a bigger screen size allows you to get closer for more immersion and you can see more the defects like aliasing. But let me tell you I was playing High on Life (FPS) and I might have to do a 2nd playthrough because I can see everything so much better, I don't understand competitive players wanting a small screen
Can't believe you still turned it on and used it before peeling the protective film, again! It drives my OCD crazy lol
I forgot 😂
Crazy prices. In my country it costs 2050$ new with official 3 years warranty or 1300$ new but without warranty
I'd definitely get it without warranty
Plasma, first try to match White Balance (Red Gain and Blue gain only) Only then compare colors. Congratulations on the awesome TV!
When I went to 65 I was also impressed by the immersion and size in the beginning! Going up in size is always more rewarding than just picture quality, if you have both it’s truly a satisfying upgrade. But after a while you get used to it and the you want 77 😂. Enjoy your new TV and show some settings👍
The bigger the better, that's what she said
