I also add garlic powder or whole garlic cloves to my water before adding the rice, gives it an extra yummy taste.

I always do 4 cups of water 2 cups of rice, med heat, once water dissolves i turn it lower heat on low cover with foil and lid 20 minute, turn again and fluff with fork and boom

You're welcome! The chicken bouillon cube gives the rice a nice subtle chicken flavor. I use that instead of salt from time to time just to change it up. :)

Followed your instructions & the came out well. However, it still got Brown on the bottom. My wife and I enjoyed your oxtails stew recipe, however, it was more of a soup then a stew. Also, congratulations on your engagement. Your probably married by now. From one native New Yorker (now residing in New Jersey) to another. Felicidades y Happy Easter.

Thank you for this recipe!! It worked for me this time because the trick was the foil and lid. My lids have a steam valve and the foil blocked all the steam in. I used the 2 cup rice and 2 and quarter cup water ratio because my glass cooktop cooks things very fast and gets hot so that worked perfectly when I boiled everything first then steamed with the foil and lid. Thank you!! 😊🌈

I use basmati or jasmine rice, which has to be cooked at 2:1 ratio with coconut oil -or butter if I’m making jasmine) and oooh it’s so yummy but leaves me craving con-con. I get sometimes by accident but I stopped trying because I’m not wasting money. lol
Any tips on how to get that same result from basmati or jasmine?

I set my stove on medium bc it’s a hot stove, I let the water dry up and it burned the bottom, luckily I was standing right there during the process the entire time, or else I would’ve had smoked rice. So next time, I’m going to either lower the temp or stir once so it won’t burn during the drying up process. I normally don’t make rice this way, but I wanted to experiment.

geewhiz747 No. Just be mindful of the temperature of your stove just like she mentioned. My mom who’s the best cook I know burnt the rice she made on my stove and the time time before that the rice didn’t cook enough before it absorbed all the water. She is used to gas stoves.

The perfect white rice is all about using a 1:1 ratio which means that you use the same amount of water and rice. So if you're making rice for about 1-3 people, you can use one cup of rice and one cup of water. 2 cups of rice is good for 4+ people. Bear in mind that depending on your stove and pots, you may have to slightly adjust the ratio. I hope this helps!
