Hello... on Saturday I was cooking for 18 of my daughters friends, Veg Chilli with rice. I don't have a great relationship with rice... unless I'm fixing a hole in a wall! But... I scaled up your measures and low and behold 2kg of perfectly fluffy rice!!! I cannot thank you enough for posting this!
Finally, someone explained the reason behind all this. There are so many videos out there with vague instructions on cooking the rice only 80% and what not. This is the first time I understood the process. Thank you so much ma'am!
I can’t thank you enough for this video, I’ve wrecked plenty of pans over the years trying to make rice properly, this method is the absolute business, perfectly explained.!!
This recipe worked for me, and it only took me 50 years of my life to find out the secret to making fluffy rice! I love it with the cumin seed also! I think the magic of making this rice is rinsing it well, before cooking, and also letting it sit for an hour before cooking!thank you!
Unbelievable. This is the best my rice has ever tasted. This is incredible and sooooooo easy. I have been making rice the wrong way for yearsssssssss. Thank you sooooooo much. This changes the game. And i was about to buy a rice cooker!!!!! No need. Instantly subscribed
I've tried several methods and never been happy, this technique is so simple and the best result I've had. On top of your recipes I've cooked, I'm so happy to have found your channel.
I've done basmati rice lots of times, however, your method and guidance was PERFECT. The grains are perfectly cooked and separate, not clumping to one another. I put additional aromatics, but again, perfect rice. I am now a subscriber as well, thank you!
I've been looking for the secret to cooking good Basmati. Been trying for years but never this way. Going to try - thanks! (also the cumin addition sounds amazing).
Thankyou I've finally tonight cooked the best rice I've ever cooked. Used Laila extra long grain from tesco and it turned out amazing. I wish I could post a photo.
Andy, wonderful to hear this! Glad the method was effective. You can send it to mylittlekitchenrecipes@gmail.com or you can tag us on Instagram instagram.com/mylittlekitchenrecipes We would love to see 😊🙌
i followed all directions and im proud to say i have finally accomplished cooking perfect basmati rice! its cooked while having a bite to it. Made my with fennel seeds instead of cumin turned out gorgeous and fluffy! The strain method is a game changer!Thank you xx
You are so spot on! This is the best way to make the perfect basmati rice! I've tried so many other recipes, but your's is really the best! Thank you so much dear!
@@MyLittleKitchenRecipes by the way if i double this recipe, do i have to double the cooking boiling time and the standing(evaporing time at no:1 on the induction heat)? I'm not sure! Can you tell me please! Thank's!
Amazing and so helpful. I enjoyed following everything about the cooking of basmati rice. Divorced man trying to learn cooking for one. Brilliant and really helpful. Thank you ❤
Worked flawlessly. I tried my best with a rice cooker and using less water but the rice was still way too lumpy. Ideal for eating with chopsticks but not good for fried rice. The rice with this method worked flawlessly. The rice was perfectly separated. Give it another half an hour or so to cool down and make it more robust, then use in the wok for fried rice. And this even worked perfectly with Thai jasmine rice. Works even better with basmati - although in this case I tend to add jeera seeds to the water.
Bought a huge bag of basmati rice for my family with no knowledge on how to cook it..we tried how the bag instructed and failed miserably. Tried your video and came out absolutely perfect!!! Thank you so much for this helpful video.
I'm not an expert with cooking basmati rice normally I cook jasmine rice to perfection just by eyeing it without using any measurements. It's definitely a difference in the grains, so I made this rice the way you said instead of making I cup I made 2 came out perfect and fluffy thank you for sharing

Thank you very much! I had this low grade bastmati lying in the kitchen shelf for like 4 months and didnt like to use it at all. Your cooking timings for rice prep really solved lots of clumsy rice issue! Thanks again!
You did so amazing!! The rice came out beautifully and it was so delicious. I ended up using this in a ham fried rice recipe and my boyfriend loved it so much!
I love you, Emeril John Lagassé III who?? Gordon James Ramsay who??? Martha Helen Stewart whooooo? Wolfgang Puck whooo??? They have nothing on you... Your quite a chef!!.. Fan for life!!
Amazing, after watching this maybe now mine will finally turn out perfect too , can I just suggest that looking at your palm lines on your hands have you ever had a blood test to check your ferritin levels??
I love Basmati Rice My is from India Royal Crown, 1 Part rice 2 parts Liquid ( chicken Broth) rinse the rice put in pan add broth stir bring to a boil turn down heat to a lite simmer 5 to 7 minutes turn it off when all liquid is gone let sit in pot for 20 minutes, so easy.
I love so much your voice! Reminds me of counselor Deanna Troi of Star Trek The Next Generation... (Marina Sirtis) 😍🤗 Oh, right,, the basmati rice, yes.. will try out yur recipe but need to find Cumin seeds first! CIAO! 😋
Rice turned out really well.. Think I could have washed a little more but turned out very nice.. This will be my method of cooking rice going forward..
I've never been able to master basmati rice. It's always been too sticky or too dry or too mushy. Even when it turned out ok, it was never perfectly separated basmati rice like it should be. Well after finding your video a month ago I have made this recipe 2-3 times a week and it's always perfect!! I've made it with the cumin seeds and without, it delish both ways. I am so thankful I found this recipe, Thank you so much.
wait wait wait..... i was always under the assumption that you have to add just enough water for the rice to cook and soak up or evaporate the water. So you can just cook it like this in an amount of water and then just strain it?
@@MyLittleKitchenRecipes I'd much prefer it this way tbh ..... thank you. Also I've never heard anyone explain what cooking curry or dishes in a kadai is better for? Could you explain. Also can I ask is there a way to cook rice with ghee? I didn't see you add ghee before or after it was good i thought some traditional methods call for this. Many thanks!
I cooked basmatic the same way i cook regular rice and ut comes out perfect! Where i am from i have never seen rice cooked and drained... the water simmers in the rice untill its all dtied out then the rice is ready....
I was thinking the same thing. I'm Carribbean in heritage and how you describe it is how I've seen it done. However I'm someone who's up for trying new things especially when I'm not getting the results I want with my current method. So I wonder if this is the traditional Indian method for cooking rice ...🤔
Perfect instructional video! Thank you for sharing! Also, all I have is fennel and caraway… Can I use either of those or would those flavors not work? Thank you!
If you don't have cumin seeds to hand then you can leave them out. Fennel seeds and caraway seeds are not usually added to rice dishes, but you may add if you wish.
I usually put basmati in the rice cooker but I find the method of soaking it initially, boiling it then steaming it produced a much better texture and flavor.
I just rinse it a couple of times then through it into the boiling salt water and let it purculate until it´s done by tasteing to see if it´s cooked through, when done I strain off the excess water with a caldren, back in the pot and let it sit for 5 min. Simple.

@@MyLittleKitchenRecipes quick question! If you cook 2 cups of rice do you simply double up the amount of water? Thanks!
Yes
im so glad I seen that you put fennel seeds because I put those in without knowing if they'll go well with the rice
I put cumin seeds in, but you can use fennel if you prefer.
I’ve given up doing stove top method. I now bake it in the oven. Turns out perfect for me everytime.

i do the same as well with 2 green cardamons and bay leaf plus cloves and cinnamon stick

You add it during boiling with zeera or after?
Indeed, Saleem - as do I. T'is often called Pilau Rice or Frangrant Rice. Makes a lovely change every now and again from Plain Basmati Rice.
@@omararshadsiddiq8117 I usually add the ingredients at the beginning - during BOILING.
