I am not a Latina but my stomach is. Having grown up with Latin caribbean food, I know asking team yuca or platano is like asking who do you love best mom or dad.
Am Filipino Americano retired and living in the Philippines, and just finished eating my Yucca Dominican Mojo. Missed so much the Spanish dishes while in NY/NJ/PA states... Thanks for sharing your recipe. Take care.
I am Yuca, however, I grew up in Washington Heights NYC. My parents are Cuban in Puerto Rican, but I have Dominican tendencies I love both. I make my onions both ways with a little tweak. I usually make my mojito Criollo as a glaze over the Yuca making with the white onions. Now, with the red onions I use a red wine vinegar to pickle the onions. Giving a little bit of a sweetness. Thank you for everything.
I am not latino, but having a cuban canadian neighbour over for dinner at Christmas. I been going to Cuba for 11 yrs few times/yr, and stayed with cuban friends, and was put in the kitchen with few cuban moms. I learned by watching. This xmas will first time making it. Wish me luck-lol
Congrats, I saw you yesterday while searching channels on Univision; you looked great (as always). love your recipes, and since they are somewhat like my grandmother's I twist them around to get her flavor, cause she did not leave a recipe book; I've forgotten most of them and she taught me to cook "al gusto". My daughter gets annoyed cause I don't measure and she can't follow. thanks for your videos
I am a Puerto Rican descent and yucca is so yummy to me. I can eat it just plain , I’d like it with a Mojito and I add cilantro, and then I like it with l green, bananas, and plátanos !
Thank you so much for this! I LOVE yucca from my one of my favorite Cuban spots, and I wanted to learn how to make it at home. Now I know; thank you. And I'll try it the Dominican way too. Mmmm
Thank you for this quick easy break down. I’m from TRINI but growing up in NY always loved Dominican food. I grew up on Yuca in the Caribbean so when Spanish friends put me on I was so excited to find a comfort food. Today will be my first time making it on my own and thanks for your tips ❤
It's so funny that you mentioned the tenderness of the yuca because on sunday we got some yuca from the Dominican restaurant with some Guineo verde and it was hard as a rock. We were laughing at how hard it was but it was not very good. I love to have the yuca softer and it taste a lot better with the onions in my opinion. But now seeing how easy it is to make I will just buy some and make it myself!!
Love your channel! The recipes are clear and authentic. I really enjoy the fact you don't accentuate all the Spanish words like all the super cringe people who usually don't really speak spanish.
I have literally been addicted to yucca since I visited Puerto Rico in 2017. Plantains are yummy as well. I'm going team yucca though. Is it possible for you to show us how to make an authentic frappe?
I'm actually making some today with onions and garlic, I was looking for tocino but I didn't like the way it looked so since I enjoy a touch of meat I'll cube some tulip spam and behold!!!!!
I’m so glad I found your channel! I’m also half Cuban I’ve been trying to look for some recipes that I can make I might make your turkey recipe for thanksgiving with the Cuban yuca 🤤
You make it difficult because both plátano and yuca are equally deliiiiissssciousssss, I will said 50 / 50 o better said 100 and 100% and that’s the reality of the rich experience of the Latin food! We are lucky having the influencia of so many countries around the world and create from that all new and rich flavors and styles of do it and combínate it and play with the explosion and sensation of the Latin food!
I'm team Cuban! Cubans don't live without either. Cooking the yucca in pressure cooker with the onion, garlic and lemon 🍋 😋 is the bomb because that season will be reinforced in the Yucca
I’ve always had the Cuban style yuca 😋 but i loveeee the pickled red onions on mangu so I’m definitely going to have to try the Dominican version! Platano vs yuca tough… but I have to go with yuca.
I blanch my onions 🧅one minute in the hot water that I'm going to use to cook my Yuca. Later on, I warm Olive Oil, Vinegar, Garlic Paste & the Onion to top the Yuca. I learn about blanching the onion in hot water by a Dominican who was making Mangu. 😋😍
Ah-ha !! This is why I love your recipes !! My family is of Cuban decent ! You keep a good blend of both countries in your dishes ! #TeamYUCA (it’s yummy when it’s frito !)
I love yuca better than potatoes. But Chef Zee did you ever make that dish with Yuca.cod, boiled egg.I don’t know what it’s called. But I love That combination of flavors so much.
Hi l was wondering do you have soup dish with vegetables and meat and yuca in it .? l had it like this so many years ago at a friends house it was so good she also put fresh corn in it the soup was delicious and after that when make my soup l add corn now and l tried the yuca in my soup but it just didn’t taste the same l think l don’t really know maybe cooked wrong.? Would appreciate you help using it in a soup l have never Tasted it any other way. Thanks 🙏🏽

Yes! I have two videos-- Sancocho & Dominican Style Chicken Soup. Both of those videos feature soup with meat and yuca. They're insanely delicious. Just search for them on my channel 💕
How do you peel it though? You should describe that at least for people who have never used yuca before.
Hey chef see can you post up a video making a whole baked chicken in the oven ?
