Life as I knew it was changed forever when I finally discovered "Parboiled" White Rice! Just a little more expensive, but cooks up sooo much easier, it's better for you, and most of all.. tastes better too! (easy to overlook on the shelf with the other bags of Rice unless you look closely, but most stores "should" at least have the big bags of Zatarain's brand Parboiled Rice)

My 8 years old rice cooker "died" this morning, but I'm currently ill, so I can't go out hunting for a new one (buying online will take a couple of days cause I live in the countryside). I had to cook rice with whatever other kitchenware I have tonight. It's a success, so I guess I don't even need to buy a new rice cooker, LoL.Thank you so much for the informative, entertaining tutorial!!!

Does this apply to Jasmine rice to?

Great question!!! For Jasmine Rice Bring the water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Stir in the rice and the salt; cover and reduce the heat to low. Simmer for 15 minutes until all of the water is absorbed. Taste the rice; if it is still too firm, add a few more tablespoons of water.

I love jasmine rice. Only rice I use. I use 2 parts chicken broth and 1 part water. I add a little salt and margarine. Perfect every time. Oh snd I use a rice cooker! Question. Do you need to rinse jasmine rice too?

First time I cooked Jasmine (Thai) rice, it turned out mushy and hard but I’ll like to try your method. Does your method work with all rice types?

did u know when you wash the rice you lose the flavor of the natural rice flavor? but but, if u dont wash your rice, the bottom will be brown, because of the rice starch. fyi. Buy a rice cooker, it will fix all your problem. and the water ratio to cook rice is a little less than double to amount your cooking. I only cook rice on a stove top if I'm making risotto and the best grain of rice to use for that is medium grain. just some advice. I love your cooking tammy. but making perfect rice comes from timing, rice fully cooks around 20-25 minutes, but you'll need to let it rest for atleast 30 minutes, why? so u dont have broken grains, if u under cook your rice, you wont ever have to deal with that. ;)
