I love this! I found your channel a couple years ago….I think during Covid lock down. I am a faithful follower. Your Easter video2024 brought me here! I don’t think you should redo old recipes, just send us back in time!❤
I made 3 dozen of your rolls on Christmas Eve for Christmas dinner. They were gobbled up and everyone had the joy of our delicious from scratch lunches of the 70’s and 80’s.
I a family consumer science teacher in Virginia, The system ( us gov) has the cafe. cut down to 4 employees at my school. They do not have the manpower to cook.
Hi Lori, I’m 62 years old and when I was in junior high school I loved these lunch lady hot rolls they had a slit cut down the center of each roll with a good pat of butter tucked inside what an awesome memory those were the best rolls ever thank you and all the lunch ladies for all their love and hard work.😃
Mt grandmother was a lunch lady in the 60's and 70's. She gave me a recipe very much like this when I got married. I don't get to make them very often but they always come out wonderfully.

I'm just sitting here, crocheting yet another hat (for the homeless) and watching some of your videos (making rolls today) and enjoying you so much Lori. I just wanted to say you are a beautiful lady. You calm me down when I need calming, and I thank you for making all these wonderful and instructive films on how to live the good life off the land. xox
Miss Lori sure does soothe the soul. It’s her faith filled spirit. I also crochet and knit prayer projects for anyone I see needs cheering, or something warm. It’s so wonderful seeing there faces and spirits light up. Such an honor to make these gifts for whomever we’re led to gift too. Bless you for giving with your time and heart. 🧶♥️🙏
Very nice of you to see the homeless, we are considered invisible people. I’m not in the street homeless, but the people that rough it, need to be seen as people. Thank you for caring, crocheting hats is very kind. God bless you.
We went to a very small Catholic school and didn’t have a cafeteria. We did have hamburger day on Thursday! I can still smell those burgers cooking around 10am. We had our change ready = .40 cents! Nothing compares to those Thursday burgers 🍔 Thanks to all the moms who volunteered their time to give us a special lunch all those years! I attended school there from 1959 to 1967. 💒
My great grandmother always had fried bread for us children to have between meals. And I carried that thur for my children and their friends. Every child thur their teens knew they had a place to go for food. I'm my life that has been one of the things I have done that has given me wonderful adults today. Who still has a place in their heart. It's a wonderful thing to know there's adults out there that will remember you until they are gone. I remember my lunch ladies from 1st grade, wonderful women and they made sure the children that was most in need received a little extra. Because until they returned the next day would be the only food they received. I was blessed to have a dad that provided for my sister and I. But, those ladies had children that had never forgotten them and I know that for sure.
Thank you so much for scaling down and posting this recipe! Everyone my age ('bout 40) fondly remembers "school rolls," served with a little pat of butter on a sliver of cardboard. Y'all lunch ladies were some of the nicest people in the world. To this day, the idea of feeding a lot of people well seems like one of the greatest expressions of love and caring. I'm going to try out this recipe this week. Thanks again and God bless!
I have fond memories of the smell of these rolls coming down the hall into our class room. Could hardly wait for lunch!! The smell is has never left me. Thankyou for feeding all us kids for all those years and a big Thankyou to all the Lucnh Ladies❤
Yummy!!! Made these for my family this week and it brought me back to standing in the lunch room as a little kid helping the lunch ladies butter the rolls. We used to be able to help in the kitchen back then. Times have changed but the love those ladies put into our meals will forever be a part of me. Thank you so much for sharing these delicious recipes.
@@WhippoorwillHoller I came here to see if there were any recent comments or replies because I have a question. I am a broken down old fat man and not a baker, lol. But why not put the sugar in the yeast mixture and the salt in the flour? I had always heard that salt doesn't act well with the yeast but sugar feeds it. Just wondering, and wondering what would happen if you did switch them around. Thank you and I love all of your videos. You are a beautiful lady with a wonderful soul.
Oh my gosh, your grand-daughter is beautiful. Aren’t grandkids the best blessing from God? It is like an angelic gift and love that we feel about our grandchildren. I have two, a boy and a girl. I’m hoping for a third. Still waiting, Their dad says he wants to buy a bigger house first. I hope he gets to steppin soon.
Went to school in the 50's and 60's the food was cooked from scratch I too can remember hamburger day they were the best !! And the rolls sooo good our children needs that kind of food today they would eat it instead of throwing it away.. Thank you for the recipe 💕
I spent the last 3 months of 3rd grade, and the last 5 months of 4th grade in Abilene, Texas. The lunch ladies there made fresh rolls and I have never forgotten how wonderful they were. I was a picky kid, so most school cafeterias were a nightmare for me, but that Abilene school made up for all the others! ( 1963 and 64, so you can see what an impassion they made.)
I was a “school secretary” for about 22 years and it was a sad day when they came and ripped the kitchens out and started serving junk food in plastic trays because it was “healthier”. Truth is, school food is big business and a money maker for school districts in CA. Probably. The same everywhere. The lunch ladies were always loved by everyone☺️
Oh, so true. Lunches have gottenbad here in Texas. My little nephew gets such junk. Fake meat burger patty on whole wheat bun, the soggiest and grossest "naked sweet potato fries" I've ever seen. And they are to choose a fruit...which is usually a few apple or orange slices OR they can choose a cheap fruit juice that's fill of high fructose corn syrup. Most choose that "juice". How is that a healthy meal? It's insane. You can go on the website and look at the lunch choices and none are much better. My sister packs his lunch. On top of being gross, they want almost $3/ day for that mess.
I'm home, back in Missouri where my grown kids live, my son & my twin daughters. I'm baking for them like no other lol and I'm using ALL your recipes!!! (I retired to Flordia, where I live now) Thank you so much for all this hard work you do! I love you guys. Today I'm making meatloaf, mash, some kind of veggie and your ROLLS & cinnamon rolls, for their dinner & it will be ready when they get off work :)
Lunchroom ladies back in the 70s and 80s always made the best food! Sloppy joes, pizza, burgers, fries, tostadas. I can still taste the chocolate/peanut butter squares. I can still taste the rolls. I haven't had carrot raisin salad since. Memories
I grew up in the 70's and 70's, and there was nothing better than smelling the rolls that the lunch ladies were cooking ! Made you hungry just smelling great food.
Hi Lori, Oh my goodness!!! Yes, lunch lady rolls...brought me back to my school days!! What a wonderful job you had!! Children were fed so much better back then. Wonderful home cooked food. Yes, it’s very sad that things are not home cooked in school cafeterias anymore. 😢😢😢 oh well..who knows...maybe it will come back some day!!! 😀😀😀 Love how you share a bit of food history. And you are spot on. My mother’s family in Italy was doing things exactly as you said back at the turn of the 19th/20th century...bring their dough to a community oven!! Thanks for sharing such a memorable recipe. Love, Mary ❤️😘❤️
I loved working at the school cafeteria back in the day because the health department had strict rules If we had leftovers that were not used on the line we 6 girls could take them home. I had three growing boys it was such a dependable job and bless during those hard days as a single Mom sweet memories Thanks for the video. Drink warm water w honey and lemon for your allergies God bless :) Grandma in Borger :)
My mom Nancy says: “I’ve not talked to you before, but you were the first cooking show I watched on TH-cam. I love your cooking, your recipes, your ideas. So I had to tell you that I made your lunch lady rolls for the first time, and they were Perfect! I watched you make them, and I’m so pleased with myself! Just wanted to say hi, and let you know how much we enjoyed the rolls and your channel. I love the inspirational talk, it means a lot to me”
That's how my Mama made them. My Dad worked in the lunch kitchen. They made the most incredible bread, rolls and the hotdog buns were out of this world ! Thanks for bringing back such great memories!❣
Love your videos. I was a kid in grade school in the 70's and our lunches were awesome! What happened to this country? Now our kids are fed crap. So happy to have found your videos!
Watching you pinch rolls brings back so many memories, I was a lunch lady for 25 years and have pinched my share of rolls. I, too, have a cut down version of the recipe we used at school. Thanks for bringing back wonderful memories.
Love your teaching style. I have very limited baking experience, but I am able to follow your video instructions. Even though I learn slowly and have a learning disability, your videos are like the school teachers I had in high school who specialize in kids with learning challenges. One of my favorite teachers was Mrs. Williams. You are like her because she was very nice and has been a great teacher. Thank you for your inspiration.
My sweet Mom in law was a lunch room lady, too. When I married her son, she let me go through all those lunchroom recipes. Oh, that meant so much to me. I love her so much. She and my Mom are in heaven watching over us now. Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe and bringing back so many great memories. I really enjoy your show. I've learned so much from you and Danny. Maybe yall will do a show on how to garden without harsh chemicals. I'd love that!
I have the exact same bread bowl I’m in Louisiana, I guess they were popular 100 years ago, mine is special to me , I have 3 smaller mixing bowls that were my grandma’s the design on them looks like the bark on a pine tree , I remember her flouring chicken , deer , squirrel in these bowls good memories! God Bless!
Thank you , Mrs lori I struggle even at 58 making pie crust they fall apart when i pick them up , seeing u use the roller made so much sense. God bless you Mrs josette Tharp Montgomery County, Texas ❤ This was suppose to be for the easy pie crust lol...but it came right next to next content in playlist ... Still the same i love all your recipes . Nov 2, 2023
I went to school in the 60s, and the homemade yeast rolls were, and to this day, my favorite thing! After lunch we could get ice cream for a nickel. If they had extra rolls, we could buy a roll for a nickle. I would always buy a roll with my ice cream money. When I went from elementary school to junior high, I was heart broken to find that the cafeteria did not make rolls. Thank you for this, I can’t wait to try this recipe.
You have brought back very pleasant memories of my childhood in the 60s and 70s. The rolls were always the best. Thank you. The first time I had cooked onion and hamburger with a beef or white gravy over mashed 'tators was at school. (It was not called SOS at school. laughing...) Eating at the school cafeteria was a joy and I adored all of the cooks. They were such nice people. Thank you again.
Again awesome video I am going to try these they look delicious. Your granddaughter is absolutely beautiful..nice they visit you mine live next door to me and nothing makes my day the best.God Bless you,pa, grandchildren also,,luv u guys ❤️🐞💕🙏🏽
I was a lunch lady. The cinnamon rolls are just the recipe for rolls ( dough) then you melt butter and brush it over the rolled out dough and mix sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over the butter. (I like to sprinke raisins too)..roll, cut and bake😊 oh and when they are cooling mix powered sugar and milk and Vanilla to desired consistency and pour over buns..the pioneer woman also puts a couple tablespoons of brewed coffee on her sugar glaze for cinnamon buns, that gives it extra kick, yum!
I have had my Kitchen Aid for 38 years...and just a few weeks ago, it went down. Started to miss speeds and not beat...I couldn't bear the thought of replacing this beloved mixer that was given to me by my Mom!! I went on TH-cam - found what seems to be the problem and how to fix it. I purchased a part from Amazon for about $11. I plan to fix it and hope to have many more years of use!! I will be subscribing to your site...just came across it - you look like me!...I just made peach butter, I am a fan of tamales, (my roots!!)....I still work - High School!!! (sadly our Cafeteria Staff is not allowed to make or serve anything this delicious anymore) ...it is kismet that I found your site...like a recent comment maker, I am now binge watching. Will let you know if my repair worked !
My girls go to a private school and all the food and rolls are handmade, all the food is absolutely delicious but the rolls are out of this world! Nothing but respect for them, they work so hard everyday to feed our babies
Oh, yes, I remember the hot rolls. We would get two, too. My mom's first job outside the family was in the lunch room when I was in the 5th grade. She was the roll cook. She brought the recipe home to us and started doing them for our family. Oh, man. I still have that recipe. I love baking bread, too. Rolls, loaves, cinnamon rolls, tortillas, biscuits. Nothing better than homemade bread.
@@mDiago6200 This recipe is the old style. My mom was a lunch lady back in 1960. So no telling how long the lunch room used this same recipe. It was reduced from 20 Pounds of flour. School House Rolls: 2 cups scalded milk, cooled to baby bottle test. Add 2 pkgs yeast and let it proof. Melt 1 cup butter (1/2 for brushing, 1/2 for rolls). 4 1/2 cups flour, 2 tsp salt. Mix dry ingredients. Add the milky yeast and 1/2 cup butter. Stir till well mixed. Pour onto floured surface and knead just a few minutes. Add more flour as needed to make stiff dough. Pat out into your buttered pan and cut into the dough to the size rolls you want. (a 9 x 13 pan will give you 12 rolls). Cover with cloth and let rise 1 1/2 hours. Heat oven to 400* bake about 20 minutes. Brush remaining butter over the hot rolls. These are not as sweet as some. The only sugar comes from the milk. But you could add 1/3 cup of sugar or honey to the batter if you prefer. These are pretty simple and easy, only rising the one time and cutting them in the pan, but they will reward you with a time honored hot roll flavor.
Hello Lori, I love to watch you, you bring back so much memories. I too am a lunch lady I worked in a school cafeteria in child nutrition for 23 yrs. with my sick days I had 25 years in when I retired in 2016. I hated to retire but because of some health issues I did. I loved my job. My school was from pre-k to 8th grade we feed over 1000 kids for lunch and for breakfast 300 to 400 kids. In the early 20's they moved 6,7,8 grades to the middle school. I was the baker, I fixed all from scratch the rolls, biscuits, cinnamon rolls, Moravian sugar cake, pizza crust. It was hard work, but I loved it. When I first started working the deliver guys would put up our groceries, and about 15 yrs before I retired we had to start putting up our own groceries. That was hard cause some of the boxes was 60 to 80 pounds. I have lost my school yeast roll recipe, an I would love if you would share yours with me. I think the one we had would make 150 to 200 rolls. Not sure now I have forgotten. I love to watch and love love your house and kitchen will continue to watch. Thanks Donna Taylor
Yup.lunch lady rolls. I made them for years for kids at school. Was so sad to have the menus change and lunch was not the the same. Sweet of you to share.
My first time leaving you a comment & getting to see your recipe. Looks Wonderful! Can't wait to try making rolls for the first time. ☺ My fondest memories in grade school was coming through lunch room & smelling (ALL) the freshly baked breads. Those were the good ole day's. Miss them.
God bless the "old school" lunch ladies! They worked school lunch MAGIC! I remember in elementary school, I would sometimes feast off of just rolls and butter at lunch, they were SOOOO good!
You might want to check the brushes on your KitchenAid mixer. My mom replaced hers and ran like new. She made cakes for a living and she gave her KitchenAid a real workout. Now I've got a question for the lunch lady, you know back in the day they used to serve a sloppy joes oh, and I have tried and tried to find a good recipe first sloppy joes like they made it school. If you have a good recipe, why don't you make some sloppy joes and show us how to do it. I just found your channel I've subscribed and I love it. Thanks for sharing
My Kitchenaid mixer is probably over 35 years old and still going strong. They are good mixers. I love mine. I also bought a larger lift bowl one, but I like my tilt head better. I also have a large bread making ceramic bowl I’ve had for many, many years. I used to make homemade French bread in it. I love your videos. Beings back a lot of good memories. My Mother used to make wonderful yeast rolls. Thank you for your great videos. Making me hungry!
We had it so good compared to kids now. So good. Those rolls, the smell ran right through our grade school, whetting our appetites each day. Lovely, fond memories. I bake them for my granddaughters today and they LOVE them with a touch of strawberry or marionberry jam. Nothing makes a house smell so good; not even bbq! In fact, when I sold real estate I used to buy that frozen Rhodes bread loaf dough. I’d not serve it, lol but I’d get it baking just before an open house to draw people in, and it sure did it’s job. :-) God bless you and thanks for the memories. We as kids never knew how hard our lunch ladies worked, but I do recall a sweaty brow or two during late spring!
From one former lunch lady to another! I enjoyed watching you do that. It brought back memories of when we were still allowed to make those wonderful rolls. We didn't use shortening in our recipe just oil but they were sooooo good! I'm gonna give your recipe a try!
Thank you dear Lori! Hard to believe my children who are in their 40's never experienced the love of our homemade delicious, "Lunchroom Ladies' " meals at school! In 1972 when we moved to East Wenatchee, WA from Spokane, WA they did not even have a "Hot Lunch" Program and all the kitchens sat unused. Every one had to brown bag it the rest of my school years. My favorite when young was, Pigs In A Blanket Day with the yummy homemade dough!
These rolls are absolutely delicious!! - Thank you for taking the time to share to recipe and video! - I will be making these regularly. (or at least until my belt doesn't get too tight) -We love your channel and all of your videos! (Also: You remind me so much of my Mother, who loves to cook also and ya'll could pass as Sisters or maybe even Twins) - I call my Mom the "original" Paula Deen, because Mom is much older and Paula Deen looks just like her! - (Mom might even be a litte better cook?) now ya'll don't go tellin' Mrs. Deen what I said. - A Big God Bless you from Atlanta, Georgia!!
Great recipe and technique. Made rolls tonight everyone loved them. Due to the 105 temps in Houston, I didn't want to fire up my oven. I put the rolls in a cast iron skillet and cooked them on the gas grill outside. Another skill learned!
Way back in the day, (late 1950's) in 5th and 6th grade I was a cafeteria helper, I loved it. Cooks actually cooked, and food was delicious. My Mom pinched rolls just like you.
Yes! I am 61yrs old and still remember the good lunches we had at school! Fresh dinner rolls and fresh big fluffy tasty cinnamon rolls. The best beans and cornbread on Thursdays. Fabulous turkey and dressing and all of those kind of meals. Fresh cobbler too! Those were the good ole days. Thank you. That was probably before your time though! I know that you were the perfect lunch lady. Thank you again.
Enjoyed much. And yes, thank you to all the lunch ladies. My brother and I were fortunate to have school cafeteria lunches. We still reminisce over the hot rolls. I learned from my mother in law how to make hot rolls and the same pinch method. You are the only other person I’ve ever seen do it the way she taught me. It is hard on your hands with arthritis but doable when making small batches. Thank you
Ms Lori.. I made these rolls and my family asks for them all the time. So I decided to get up early this morning and make enough to freeze for a month. That way I can pull out what I need when I need them. I enjoy baking when every one is still sleeping. It is so relaxing. Just wanted to thank you for sharing this recipe. Teaching me how to make bread. My husband does also. He said that I have been making a lot of different things that I haven't in the past. I told him I had been watching your channel. He said please don't stop lol. So keep all your amazing recipes coming. They are a great hit at my house. Thank you again and have a wonderful day !.
I love your personality, your recipes, your decor and your lifestyle. I am a city girl but I have canned and garden. I wish I had the property for chicken and cows. I enjoy videos of you and Mr Brown chatting as well.
Hi there, I'm 64 and when I was in 4th and 5th grade and on up, we helped served lunch in the lunchroom, we either had two rolls or a square of cornbread, I remember having navy beans and rice a lot. This was Gulfport, MS. I love your channel, thank you so much.
I worked as a lunch lady for a few years. I loved that job! I was the main dish cook but I sure wanted to be the bread cook! I admit that I took my childhood school lunches for granted. Those were homemade goodness but now I am appalled at the junk that is served in schools. I became a teacher and refused to eat the school lunches that were being served. Poor kids don't know what they are missing. Thanks for the recipe! I have been auditioning different hot roll recipes and i bet this is the one I stick with.
Oh my I sure enjoy all your videos bless you for sharing. When I was a child in school I signed up to help in the kitchen loved all the lunch folks. I and my daughter will attempt making these beautiful rolls. Be blessed, Love lives in your kitchen sweet lady. 💕👩🍳🍞
I have that exact same bread bowl. I live in Kentucky and we used to go to Tennessee often, that's where I found my bowl. Down a little country back road, a little old man with a long white beard and bib ovetalls sold it to me right on his front porch. I love it so much, it's my favorite. I've had it for about 40 years now and hope I have it 40 more. It's old like me but it's still beautiful. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and wonderful recipes. It brought back a lot of good memories. God bless you real good 💕 🌿
You remind me so much of my mom. She was a lunch lady in the fifties and cooked as you did. She made the best soft rolls, too. But, you certainly aren't old enough to be my mom, maybe my daughter. Love watching you cook. God bless you and Mr. Brown.
I have been trying different roll recipes, attempting to find one that tastes like the store-bought rolls my sister loves. I made your recipe today and called my sister over to do a taste test. These rolls turned out incredible. The taste and texture are spot on. We all loved them. I believe my search for the perfect roll is over. I loved hand kneading the dough and I'll pat myself on the back for doing an awesome job of pinching those rolls out, thanks to your instructions. Miss Lori, you're the best!
Hi! I just found your channel a couple days ago and subscribed. I can’t stop watching. I very much admire your rural way of life and your lovely cabin. I’m in a Calif suburb but think I’m more suited to rural life. Family and friends keep me here. So I’m living vicariously through you. I very much enjoy your videos.
My mon was a cook at a motel restaurant and she made Icebox rolls. They made large batches to last several days in the fridge. She would make them at home for us.sometimes for a snack she would Make us cinnamon rolls.
i would actually LOVE the recipe for the big batch rolls...i help out our neighbor to help feed a church and more so that would be WONDERFUL!!! been watching you for years and years now!!! LOVE YOU LADY!!!
Thanks you so much for this recipe and demonstration!! Love the way you pinch off the rolls. Could you share the 100 roll recipe? We have a big family and I could use it for the holidays!! Thanks again!
I spent years hunting in antique stores for a good mixing bowl like that it's a little taller but I love it. I think of all the times it was used before I got to mix and prepare meals 💕
I remember when all our food in middle school was made from scratch, even the rich deserts and it was rare for anyone to have an issue with weight. Usually, if you saw children who were bigger, it was genetics, just like you saw children whose families tended to be beanpoles. There was lots of butter in the foods, if only I could have those recipes, this is a good start
Hell I've been watching you for days now. And I had to let you know. How much kids love them rolls. We didn't know what we were going to have for lunch. But when you lovely ladies made them yeast rolls. Everyone could smell them down the halls. And it made everyone so happy. You were greatly appreciated even though I'm sure you didn't get all the recognition you deserved. Thank you for all your hard work.
I'm a new subscriber here. I feel like I'm in the kitchen with my family. Thank you so much❤️ many blessings to you and yours❤️ loved hearing lunch lady stories 😊
Loved this! I still remember the smell of the rolls at the school cafeteria! So good! I will be trying this one. Who knows, I might need the big recipe!
I've been making bread for 40 years and I have now made these twice. I will be my go to for making rolls. They turn out beautifully every time but I still haven't gotten the knack for making them the right size yet. Mine are coming out too large. I will get there!
I just subbed your channel after watching a different video than this one. Your recipes sound so yummy that I can almost smell them through my computer monitor. :) My hope and dreams are to move out to the country and do homesteading myself...I experience too much stress and anxiety living where I do. Till then, I'm coming to your channel...for both your recipes as well as your peaceful demeanor and soul...you calm my soul down so much. Thank you!
School lunch rolls are the best! Can’t wait to try, I also had the best red velvet cake I’ve ever eaten in a school cafeteria. It was in a sheet pan and I have never had a cake that was that “velvety “...I could eat about five of those rolls and a piece of that cake right now! Yum you’ve made me so hungry!
It is amazing - I have a dark brown version of your bread bowl. My friend elderly friend Joyce gave it to me (after asking her children so there wouldn't be fights), but she gave me an old flat ladle with it and said it was her milk separating bowl - you can't use the spoon, I'm sure it's lead or something like that but I'm so thrilled with it.

Thanks for sharing!!
Mt grandmother was a lunch lady in the 60's and 70's. She gave me a recipe very much like this when I got married. I don't get to make them very often but they always come out wonderfully.
May I have the recipe please? I'd love to try it. ❤

Rita Nolan I was in school in the 50’s also but we never had rolls in school. Maybe I didn’t go to the right school lol.
I was in school in the 60s and our hot lunch ladies made fresh bread - of some type - every day. Our lunches were delicious!
@@kimsargeant8126 Same here!! 😁
I was in school in the 50s and our lunch lady only served us a cup of cream of wheat!

I loved the smell of those rolls in the hall😃.
Thank you
@@WhippoorwillHoller I came here to see if there were any recent comments or replies because I have a question.
So much truth! It really bothers me, xoxoxo
It's definitely not healthier. Need lots of water to filter it on down and out.
I miss those days.
You can compare lunches today in this country with others and it's very sad. There are children today that have never had a home cooked meal.
(I retired to Flordia, where I live now)
Thank you so much for all this hard work you do!
Mary. Thanks for watching !
I love the inspirational talk, it means a lot to me”
Wow, thank you
Loved school lunch in late 50s.yeast rolls and chili ,the best.
That's how my Mama made them. My Dad worked in the lunch kitchen. They made the most incredible bread, rolls and the hotdog buns were out of this world ! Thanks for bringing back such great memories!❣
On all of these hot roll recipes I assume you bake it at 400 degrees?
Love your videos. I was a kid in grade school in the 70's and our lunches were awesome! What happened to this country? Now our kids are fed crap. So happy to have found your videos!
Watching you pinch rolls brings back so many memories, I was a lunch lady for 25 years and have pinched my share of rolls. I, too, have a cut down version of the recipe we used at school. Thanks for bringing back wonderful memories.
I would love to have the full recipe for these rolls. My family has enjoyed a lot of your lunch lady recipes!
I was a lunch lady also. I retired 15 years ago. I made a lot of the rolls.
Please can you share your recipe?
🌹 I love you telling us the way things used to be. I love history.
When I baked for the school I had to make rolls fresh everyday! And cinnamon rolls at least twice a week for breakfast!
She had the recipes!!! Did she have the sheet pan pizza one? Please say yes!
@@ljohn1999 Sorry but she didn't.
God Bless!
I would love the recipe for 100 rolls . Can make ahead and freeze thank you . I love your recipes on your foods and love watching you

Thank you again.
you have brought back great memories and yes the cinnamon rolls
Again awesome video I am going to try these they look delicious. Your granddaughter is absolutely beautiful..nice they visit you mine live next door to me and nothing makes my day the best.God Bless you,pa, grandchildren also,,luv u guys ❤️🐞💕🙏🏽
Please please please! Share your recipe for lunch lady cinnamon rolls! 😍😊
We need those cinnamon rolls!!! Please share it with us!!
I also loved the SWEET (cake) cornbread💗 it must have had honey in it, SOOoooo good❗️❗️❗️oh, uh,......recipe, PLEASE ⁉️⁉️⁉️
Can I please have the recipe for large batches of rolls?
I remember how I loved the Yeast rolls at school, the smell would make my mouth water.
My goodness beautiful lady! Those rolls look delectable!
Thankyou for sharing this with us. Sharing is caring!. bless you.
Just found you and I'm binge watching!
Suzanne Gitz Me, too!
Me too!

I've worked in public school cafeteria 17 years, my favorite job was making hot rolls, hundreds of them!
Whippoorwill Holler yes! same at the school, I would eat like 5 of them because they are so good and found your video trying to make them myself lol
Somebody loves grandma’s cooking😁Thanks for sharing the video God bless ✝️🙏❤️
Oh, yes, I remember the hot rolls. We would get two, too. My mom's first job outside the family was in the lunch room when I was in the 5th grade. She was the roll cook. She brought the recipe home to us and started doing them for our family. Oh, man. I still have that recipe. I love baking bread, too. Rolls, loaves, cinnamon rolls, tortillas, biscuits. Nothing better than homemade bread.
granny bee I would love to have you're recipe if you don't mind sharing it.
These are pretty simple and easy, only rising the one time and cutting them in the pan, but they will reward you with a time honored hot roll flavor.
granny bee Thank you for sharing!
@@mDiago6200 You are welcome.
Two! We would beg and you had to sweet talk them to maybe, sometimes, occasionally get another. If you're a favorite.
Oh ànd now my daughter is watching your videos my grandson loves to bake God Bless you for your videos.
I enjoy your cooking video's and You sooooo much!! You are so relaxing and sweet to listen too!!
You are absolutely right, that's one reason, I'm doing something else, lunchroom clerk now, xoxoxo
My first time leaving you a comment & getting to see your recipe. Looks Wonderful! Can't wait to try making rolls for the first time. ☺ My fondest memories in grade school was coming through lunch room & smelling (ALL) the freshly baked breads. Those were the good ole day's. Miss them.
Ohhhhhh the memories !!!! Thank u ... yum and blessings! 🤗🤗
I loved the schools sloppy Joes.. I can still remember the taste....yummy
Suggestion. I make it by browning ground beef and onions, drain, stir in mustard and ketchup. Heat through. Try it.
Yes ^^^ I second that. I would love a recipe for sloppy joes like they served in elementary school.
I haven't had time to watch it yet but she posted a sloppy joe video yesterday. th-cam.com/video/daSFlhllJ9k/w-d-xo.html
Pizzaburgers rember pizzaburgers
I come back to this for a refresher when I am ready to make these rolls. I also love the idea of a communal oven to get with other women.
Those look so good! Thanks for sharing! Blessings!
I just love this woman love to watch her cooking God bless you omg she know how to cook😘
How much oil did you use in place of the lard/crisco?
Thank you dear Lori! Hard to believe my children who are in their 40's never experienced the love of our homemade delicious, "Lunchroom Ladies' " meals at school! In 1972 when we moved to East Wenatchee, WA from Spokane, WA they did not even have a "Hot Lunch" Program and all the kitchens sat unused. Every one had to brown bag it the rest of my school years. My favorite when young was, Pigs In A Blanket Day with the yummy homemade dough!
I would love to have the full version! I work at a daycare and it would be so helpful!❤️
Yes, I would love to have your recipe for the big amount. For our church. Thank you so much. You are a blessing.
These rolls are absolutely delicious!! - Thank you for taking the time to share to recipe and video! - I will be making these regularly. (or at least until my belt doesn't get too tight)
-We love your channel and all of your videos!
Oh that's when the food was delicious, for sure! Xoxoxo
Thank you
Hi Fran, my grandmother pinched rolls too, so when I started in the lunchroom and seen thats the way they done it, made me happy, xoxoxo
Here August 2024. Love your videos 🤟🙏
Thank you
Thank you for what looks to be a wonderful recipe God bless you
It is a good recipe!
Saw your big bread baking video and had such a great time with you in the kitchen. Thanks for allowing me into your kitchen
I Loved cooking real food for the kids home cooking
i just had to watch lunch lady hot rolls video again. yum. But i love the yeasty taste in a roll.
Thank you, always fond memories making these rolls, for 600 kids, xoxoxo
God bless you real good 💕 🌿
Lovely rolls, I can almost smell them!
You remind me so much of my mom. She was a lunch lady in the fifties and cooked as you did. She made the best soft rolls, too. But, you certainly aren't old enough to be my mom, maybe my daughter. Love watching you cook. God bless you and Mr. Brown.
Oh, yes please do that once a month dough recipe bake show video.
That would be such a blessing.
Amen to that!
Mama Mode that would be wonderful ♥️♥️
I have been trying different roll recipes, attempting to find one that tastes like the store-bought rolls my sister loves. I made your recipe today and called my sister over to do a taste test. These rolls turned out incredible. The taste and texture are spot on. We all loved them. I believe my search for the perfect roll is over. I loved hand kneading the dough and I'll pat myself on the back for doing an awesome job of pinching those rolls out, thanks to your instructions. Miss Lori, you're the best!
THAT MAKES ME SO HAPPY
Oh my, how sweet, thank you so much, God Bless, xoxoxo
Made the cinnamon rolls today and they turned out wonderful!!! So thankful that you shared these. I’ve been wanting these recipes for years!❤️
I remember when all our food in middle school was made from scratch, even the rich deserts and it was rare for anyone to have an issue with weight. Usually, if you saw children who were bigger, it was genetics, just like you saw children whose families tended to be beanpoles. There was lots of butter in the foods, if only I could have those recipes, this is a good start
I'd love your recipe for Cinnamon Rolls!
Thank you glad they enjoyed them!
I'm a new subscriber here. I feel like I'm in the kitchen with my family. Thank you so much❤️ many blessings to you and yours❤️ loved hearing lunch lady stories 😊
Love those when I was in school love watching your videos they always 👍
Oh that makes me happy!
Thank you!
You brought back sweet memories of my high school days and the high school kitchen in the late 60s. Homemade rolls and fried chicken!! 🌹
Try adding 1/8 cup more of your butter, oil it will be very soft & moist!
Those rolls are a work of art!
Wow. They look delicious!!! 🤗👍
