      I got into sewing for a while. And I tried to follow a lot of tutorials, but Micarah’s is the only one that realy turned out well. I think it is because the general instructions given by Micarah are easily adjustable while the instructions that are more mathematically permanent are harder to change for me at least. And micarah gives you the whole picture of where everything attaches throughout the video so that you have a better understanding of the changes and cuts that need made

      I started a pleated skirt in . . . oh, must’ve been about . . . 1994.
      Then I had kids, and was really busy for the next 10 years.
      I brought the skirt out to finish, and it was _too fricking small._
      ⏩️ another 10 years or so . . . I tried the skirt on (I was hopeful because I’d lost weight) and it was _too big._
      Tl; dr: I started a pleated skirt in 1994. In 2016, I decided I don’t really like pleated skirts anymore.
      So I binned it.

    I’m a seamstress myself… you did an amazing job!! Your dress came out very cute! Maybe the light pink fabric had stretch on it? If it had, it made your life a bit harder… if the dress is made of a very stretch fabric, you don’t need a zipper. Next time when you pleat a skirt, use the “fork pleat hack”. So it will look better. I’m 16 and I’ve been sewing since I was like 6 and I’m such a perfectionist when it comes to sewing too lol. I take forever making anything because I like quadruple check everything because I’m so scared of mucking it up. I altered a skirt that was too big for me recently and it was a really simple alteration but it took me 6 hours! I didn’t make any mistakes or struggle with it or anything, I just took so long to do it because I was being such a perfectionist and taking ages to make sure everything was exactly right when it didn’t even matter if it was a bit off. That is a big part of why I don’t see often, also, fabric is very expensive. But I even don’t alter my clothes often and I have a big pile of clothes that need altering but I know it’s gonna take me forever because of my perfectionism so I keep putting it off.

    Mia I highly recommend starting to learn how to sew by using store bought patterns. It makes it so much easier and guides you through each step. And you have the precise shape of each piece you need. That way you can build up your sewing skills one small step at a time. You asked about curtains and honestly a simple curtain is an excellent place to start. If you can sew a hem and straight lines you can sew simple curtains. You can even buy a pattern if you want to try different kinds of curtains or want to be walked through the steps. It's an excellent place to start.

    • @hmbee1110
      @hmbee1110 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I just finished the video. You did such a good job! You can always seam rip the zipper out and sew it back in properly later on. Also a suggestion that might be cute, make another length of the gathered tulle like you did on the bottom and sew it around the top of the bust /neckline. That would help hide the uneven parts and make it look more finished.

    Its so cool to see this crossover, I love Micarah Tewers, she's so funny. I think her tutorials are really entertaining, she doesn't necessarily create them for beginners which is why there is so little instruction, it helps to have basic sewing knowledge when following her tutorials, but I think its awesome that you tried this out😁😁😁

    This was my first video of yours and you won me over hook, line, and sinker when you actually went to Walmart for an iron 😭❤️ I've worked with professional seamstresses and they always stressed the importance of ironing during the process! Proud of you for that good call!

    This is a big undertaking for someone that is a beginner at sewing. I'm so glad you did not let it overhwlem you and you powered through! My rule for myself is to only take on projects that add 1 or 2 new techniques in a given project. But kudos to you for powering through and just going for it. The dress is so stinking cute!

    I think this is my favourite video of yours. I've been sewing for 8 years, most of the clothes in my closet are me-made, and I don't think I could freehand a dress this well. It's fits you so great! I also love Micarah's videos so much. I'd love to see more videos like this.
